Love this restaurant but it was a bit chaotic. Food not available and the food that was available was excruciating slow to arrive. However when it arrived it was as tasty as ever and the evening’s manager was coping charmingly with what were clearly problems in the kitchen.

The food is distinctly less good than in previous years. The bread tasted stale and not French. It used to be wonderful. And I made the mistake of ordering Tartiflette which had a layer of grease. Did not think that could be destroyed. Mussels good however

Staff lovely, the 2 guys that served us were friendly, attentive and professional. The onion soup was one of the best we’ve had, highly recommend. However the veal escalope was a disappointment. The meat itself was thin and tasteless, and that and the few cubed roasted potatoes it was served with (which went the best cooked), needing a generous amount of salt and pepper to give it any flavour. Thank goodness for a good sauce. Not great value for money either given the price of this main course. We had a soup each, a veal each and one glass of wine, and water and it was £116

We booked our table for 5pm as we had a show to go to afterwards. The restaurant was empty, which was not a good sign. I understand not everyone likes their dinner so early in the evening, but it's London and most places stay open through the day buzzing with customers. The asian lady serving us seemed to be reluctant to do her job, no smile, no eagerness to make our experience pleasant. She was too busy chatting to the manager and I had to leave our table to call her to place our order. My husband ordered mussels for his starter. They were ok but not fresh, they were precooked ones. For main he had scallops. They were nice but the hole dish was very salty. I had warm goat cheese with salad. It tasted nice. For my main I had cod with ratatoille. Cod was overdone, again I'm not sure whether they reheated it or cooked from frozen. Overall the dish was ok. The manager was very polite and attentive. I think the main problem with London restaurants especially in the West End is they don't really care about the level of service or food quality. They know majority of their customers are tourists who come to London for a day or two and they will very unlikely come back to the same restaurant again. This is my observations after visiting a few places to eat in London.

This is two stars because I found it a bit expensive for what they offered. £5 for maybe 5 small baguette slices £30 for the average main £15 for the average starter, but everything felt more french bistro than the more upscale eateries the prices would suggest. If they were 30% -50% cheaper, I'd be raving at the bang for buck. For that reason, although not disappointed with the food or service per say I was once the bill came. There are many better places at this price point to give this more than 2 stars.

Business lunch. Restaurant was not busy but it still felt very 'intimate' (note: only half the restaurant was open due to low number of diners) Food was very good, onion soup was on point, pork in cream and mushroom sauce was delicious and a huge portion. My colleague had the goats cheese/beetroot salad served with no beetroot! This was quickly and apologetically rectified. Her sea bream was good but a small portion size compared to my pork loin. The french peas with bacon and cream took me back to my days in Paris!! Service was good. Importantly, nobody rushed us to vacate the table ( a modern dining curse) and interestingly the bill was presented with NO automatic service charge (again refreshing!!). If you love all things French this is a good place to eat and if you've the time, an aperitif at Le Beaujolais in Litchfield Street ( 5 mins walk away) we complete your Francophile urges.

We booked for a pre-theatre dinner 2 or 3 courses. The menu choice was good value however as a gluten free person there were no options on the dessert and I had to negotiate to be able to have an alternative dessert. I did check the menu beforehand and notified the restaurant i was GF so it was a shame and slightly awkward for all the table that I had to have these discussions. The restaurant is charming in a traditional french way but a little tired looking and it would have been nice if they’d played some background music for atmosphere. The service was good but a little slow getting out of the restaurant on time for our show.

Excelente cocina francesa auténtica y bien presentada en el corazón de las esferas. Si la terrina de jabalí y el venado hubieran sido buenos para ser justos, habría dicho que dar pan/etc con la terrina podría haber sido bueno. Mon Plaisir is an adorable, unpretentious, perfectly-located, home-style restaurant, serving the traditional French classics like beef tartare, French onion soup, escargots, and coq au vin, moules marnieres, etc. It’s a much better value than many of the other restaurants in close proximity. The perfect stop, especially if you sneak in around 8pm after the pre-theater crowds have dispersed. We’ve been twice in three weeks since our first visit and will be making a return trip soon!

My review is based on the experience across London and comparing value for money vs food. The food was decent and the service was good with little quibble when we sent the steaks back as they were cold. The atmosphere resembles a small French Bistro, the staff were mostly attentive but they were not looking our way most of the evening and we needed to get their attention. The overall score was based on the cost £240 for 5 mains two starters and a bottle of the house wine, which I felt was too much given the food proportions. I think perhaps 30-40% overvalues on costings.

I have been coming here for years and have put better reviews around 4 and 5 stars. As always the food and ambience was top notch. But the service was atrocious. It has really gone down the hill since we were last here. It was slow, the starters came with the mains, we ordered mussels and they thought we ordered a steak - we had to double check the order was taken correctly. The waiter went for a cigarette and forgot the coffees (we could actually seem him outside puffing away). And thinking about it, the place wasn’t that busy, so I don’t think I am being out of order here.

I have eaten at Mon Plaisir several times before, and have never had a poor experience. The food is unfailingly good, with a menu that features regular favourites and seasonal specials that are beautiful examples of excellent French Cuisine. The ambience is unapologetically old school, and you could easily imagine yourself in a South Bank cafe in Paris in the early 50’s! But the service is excellent and the staff always friendly. Have to say the food looked delicious and the place is so beautiful. We got a table for two in few minutes although it was packed on a Friday evening. We were in a hurry so we wanted to order as soon as possible. Our waiter for the table asked us to wait for 2 minutes and didn’t appear for like good 15mins after waiting for 15mins I asked for tissues, didn’t get that either. Asked a lady (was looking like a manager) gave the tissues but have to say in a very rude manner as we asked something that would required a lot of efforts. Was definitely disappointed by the service. Just ordered two glasses of wine and fries and basket of bread and butter (which we didn’t get, but was added on the bill) we asked to remove it from the bill. Paid the money but even that required good 15mins. Would definitely recommend to atleast have more staff on weekends cause these many people couldn’t handle the footfall in the restaurant.

Had a gorgeous meal here with my daughter. The place itself is beautiful and very atmospheric - well needed in a dreary February. The staff were so lovely and helpful and provided just the right amount of attentiveness. We had cocktails, olives and oysters during happy hour which were great value. I loved my French 75 which was perfect and not too sharp. We then had snails and st marcellin for starters followed by sea bass and duck confit with perfect green beans and dauphinois potatoes. My only regret was not having room for dessert. A perfect French restaurant. Gorgeous.
