Excellent experience. The bar with bunk seating is nice and cozy but you need to book early to secure a seat in the candle-lit main room. Some outside seating when it's warm. Simple choice menu, some daily specials. Three of us chose seperate starters and mains but shared for the experience. Recommend deep fried dauphinois, or the burratina. The salmon tartar at the next table looked delicious. The mains were delcious; my wide loved the duck confit, my swordfish steak had a delicious sauce, and my daughter's onglet was perfect. Fries on the side were 10/10, but the dauphinois were better than excellent. We were full after two courses but the chocolate mousse looked out of this world and I'd go back just to try it. House wine starts at £28, and a good selection of cocktails. Nice, friendly people, cozy warm atmosphere, romantic. We loved it and will return.

Absolutely lovely evening - delicious food, great service and I love the interior of the former butcher shop. Have had minor issues in the past with glare from the sun (golden problem) and noise in the main bar area but the butcher shop area was great. Had to spend a little time tidying up one of the loos - but that speaks more about the clientele than the restaurant…

My favourite french place in north london! The food here is absolutely delicious and the I love the decor and the atmosphere. It’s suitable for a little date brunch or for some wine. The vegtables were nicely roasted, light and fresh. Whilst the coq au vin was the start of the show. The meat was extremely tender and sauce was deep and rich.

Nice atmosphere and the food was great! However I told them I had an allergy to crustaceans, and there were crabs in the dish I ordered, which I discovered only after I had started eating. The waitress said she was sorry and offered to replace my dish with something else. I asked for dessert instead as I don't eat meat and couldn't eat anything else on the menu, but in the end she changed it to 50% off my dish ("because you ate half of it") and charged for the dessert as well. Kind of an odd sense of hospitality when I could have ended up in the hospital. Other reviews have noted the weird penny pinching at times. Not a big deal, but I personally won't go back.

This place looked really promising - we visited during happy hour (4-6pm) and it was completely empty. Nice bar, very dimly lit and quaint. The server greeted us and told us that they had been closed between 4-5pm (which doesn’t make sense if happy hour is 4-6pm.) Cocktails were great and half price, and we got a sharing plate. Service was good. It was 5:55pm and we asked the server if she could accommodate us for 4 more drinks (2 rounds) as part of happy hour. She gave us the oddest response saying “you cant have multiple rounds at once, but I will let you have another happy hour round” So we were under the assumption that because it was almost end of the happy hour, that she had been generous and let us get another round with the deal. At the end when we received the bill, she had not honored her word about an extra happy hour round and charged full price for the last round. We tried to ask why we had been promised another round but the server did not uphold her word. Shame because overall good experience, but kind of disappointing

While the restaurant itself is cozy, the food disappointed me a bit. I had prawns as a starter and found the portion size quite small for the price, the taste was a bit bitter for my liking. My main was a stew of mushrooms which was nice. On the whole the food was decent, but it's quite pricy for what you get. I have better experiences in other French restaurants, which is why I score this experience a 3/5.

Really gorgeous French restaurant in Kentish. The atmosphere feels relaxed chic and tables are spaced nicely. Service attentive and friendly. Drinks Wine selection is good, cocktails very good (we had aperol spritz & the sour epicé, a Mezcal sour, which I thoroughly recommended. Food Between four we shared the deep fried dauphinois (divine), baked st. Michelin, and then shared the sides with our mains of green beans in garlic, braised red cabbage & two frites portions (one with aoli, one with garlic butter). All the mains were divine, the duck was cooked to perfection and the mushroom ragout was incredibly flavoured. The steak was also excellent and served to our liking. While portions are on the smaller side - and it would be nice that the meals came with a sauce as quite dry otherwise - they do not skimp on the desserts. You'll be hard pressed to find as comforting a rhubarb crumble as you will here, & the creme brulée had a satisfying snap & excellent flavour. For a filling and delicious taste of France, you really can't go wrong here.

Atmosphere great and interior so nice but food not special or even good - we had to send back two dishes and didn't finish one because it just wasn't pleasant to eat and the kitchen were not gracious or even curious about wanting to know why we didn't want to eat it, just said "that's the way it's cooked - if you want us to remake the dish for you it will taste the same". Woof. Don't get the pardon peppers, they are crunchy and not cooked properly, and the green beans didn't come with sliced garlic (as stated on the menu - the response from the kitchen was "it's cooked in garlic oil" - probably should update the menu then) and were also pretty raw. Kitchen said they were meant to be Al dente which is fair enough but I've never had a french bean taste like it's been yanked out of the ground then popped in a pan for ten seconds. Also big disappointment from a French place is that the French onion soup was so weak! Not a nice flavour, very pale and thin and oily - couldn't finish it. Potato gratin tasted nice enough (the bare minimum you would expect in a French place) but weirdly came swimming in a plate of cream. Tasted fine but was the only edible thing out of the £30 worth of food I ordered. Such a shame as this would have been somewhere we would have come back to again and again but the attitude from the kitchen and poor food was not the one. Great place for a date though if you are just having drinks, very romantic lovely atmosphere and service good.

Really poor...from start to finish. A French restaurant without bread to start! We ordered at 7.40, meal arrived at least an hour later...cold except for one dish (sizzling trout which was great) so my guess is they forgot us. Called the waiter to ask where our food was, he informed us that the fish was slow cooked so was holding up the meal...clearly untrue, a slow cooked trout is a new one on me. The worst bit was the leek gratin...the portion was laughable, even for a starter it would be minute...cost £15 for half a leek and a bit of Dijon mustard. The steaks were overcooked and cold...not the medium rare requested. Near the end of the meal a waitress came over with a portion of terrine starter saying that the chef had accidently made one and would we like it!!! Accidentally made a piece of pate with chopped cornichon??? Again my guess is that the chef realised the leek gratin was not complete and tried to compensate. If you make so many cock ups, have overpriced inferior food with little choice you should not be in business.

We were very much hoping to enjoy Patron a neighbourhood restaurant serving traditional French food though came away underwhelmed. What can I say. Our starters were good, the mains average at best and whilst the ambience was a + it just felt a lack of something - as if hey we are busy and doing okay so do we need to try any harder. The menu and overall impression reminded us of Absinthe a now departed French restaurant in Primrose Hill. I get the idea and enjoy traditional French food and may be that is what we expect though on our recent visit to Nice we encountered new restaurants and styles of cooking which is way ahead of our experience here. If you are in the area and fancy a plat with a glass of wine I do not wish to put anyone off going though I think the Cote chain is just as good with more choice. The damage c£72 a head though this included a few drinks and a decent Chinon.

We popped in before a show at Kentish Town Forum, then realized we were running out of time, so had to ask staff if we could get our main course as soon as possible. I realize the kind of strain this kind of request puts on a small kitchen so a) sorry and b) thank you so much for being so gracious about it, and serving our main courses so quickly after we asked. You really went above and beyond for us, so we really appreciate it. And the food itself was truly brilliant. This was our third time in this restaurant. The food is authentic not flashy but is obviously prepared with care and know how. It is a fine example of good brasserie style French food which is actually hard to come by. It is not pretentious the atmosphere is fun and transports you to a little establishment in a back street in Paris. The cocktails are delicious the bar-tender really knows how to deliver a delicious Margarita and the wine selection great. The menu is limited and my feeling is it could have had a few more fresher/salad like offerings (particularly through the summer months) the peach salad with goat cheese was OK but the peaches weren't sweet or juicy enough to complement the sharp saltiness of the cheese. I love the duck confit in here and the fish bouillabaisse is DELICIOUS! Sadly this visit was the last night of the old menu which meant that there was limited availability on dishes. This was a shame as we had taken friends to show it off. That aside, what we did have was much enjoyed by everyone and the atmosphere was vibrant and fun.

For dinner, I ordered the Onglet Steak, rare, and I have to say it was cooked to perfection, for my taste. It wasn't sliced in the usual french manner, which I think helped retain the heat. It was delicious, with plenty of herbed butter melting away beautifully on top, with a hint of charred garlic. I had the dauphinoise potatoes as a side. They were sliced so finely, with a lovely creamy sauce. Also, green beans which appeared to have been pan sauted. I have to say, everything was top knotch, and it was thoroughly enjoyable. I will definitely be back, and I highly recommend trying it.

Interesting and well prepared bistro staples. Confit duck always reliable - although the pommes which came with it could have been browner/crisper. Excellent haricots verts, and a good (but minimal) winter salad with thinly sliced pears, some cheese, endive and a hit of heat from chorizo. Surprisingly good Lillet and red wine - although the Potion d'amour came with a surprise kick of Tabasco. Enthusiastic (but slightly uninformed) service..

The Italian manager spilled water on my food and never apologised and the service was terrible. I expected better from a 4.5 star place. Not worth going, waste of an evening

Short walk from Kentish town tub station. Some seating in the street. Another reviewer mentioned the dull lighting was romantic. For mine it was hard to read the menu because it was so dark. Had to use my mobile phone light. Had a couple of excellent cocktails and entree of cheese and steak tartare - Both delicious. Mains of duck (slightly dry), rainbow trout (excellent)and a glass of white wine. £105 for 2. For the price the service could have been more attentive.

First time going to this restaurant yesterday. It was dimly lit so perfect for a date night, its small so it's quite quiet which is really nice as well. The staff were really welcoming and friendly. All the food was delicious and the cocktails were really good as well. A bit pricey but the food, drinks and atmosphere make it worth every penny.

We came here on the strength of the high ratings and reviews on this site but were sadly disappointed. For a start there didn't seem to be any heating in the restaurant, which lead to a less than convivial evening and the ridiculous 'covid screens' between the tables, completely ineffective against any airborne viruses in the vicinity, managed to hamper the staff and customers no end. Then there was the service itself. We waited half an hour for our order to be taken and then a further half an hour for the first course to arrive, at which point we had to point out that the drinks we had ordered hadn't been served yet. After a further delay while we waited for our drinks we finally started are dinner, which was by now lukewarm. There was a similar lack of urgency with the mains. The food itself, had it been hot, would have been OK but not worth the prices they are charging, plus none of the limited selection of main courses came with any sides, which ramped up the bill even further. In all, we spent three hours on two courses, not then having time for desert as we had to catch a train. The bill came to over £200 for four (including 12.5% service which is automatically added in case you should feel disinclined to leave a tip).

I love Patron Cave à Manger, the staff are a delight, the food is delectable, and the drinks never disappoint. This is not the place to go if you’re expecting to spend a small amount - but the premium for the food, service and atmosphere is more than worth it. A true gem with the perfect air for an intimate dinner or special occasion.

Quiet and comfy place, looks awesome, staff very knowledgeable and friendly! Tried the famous pistachio swirl and it was quite good! Also had a chai latte that was okay, I prefer it more spicy but I
