Store Street Exchange in Manchester

The waiter wrote down my order wrong. Served me a plate I did not order. The plate I received had less food for the prize compared to other places I had the same food.

Rude front of house staff who treat you with contempt if they can’t take your money. Saw that this place was on the way to the train station for breakfast. The hours on Google say 24 hours so we went and checked at about 1030am. We went via the obscure entrance (not the big one for hotel guests). We entered and it was empty so something didn’t seem right. Then a staff member very abruptly said they were closed and told me to go to the bar further down (not sure why!) he didn’t ask me what we were there for but I clearly asked for a table for two so the clue is in what we ASKED! Then when I asked if the store street kitchen is open and he abruptly said no it’s closed and again told me to go further down to the bar to speak to someone there. Again, not sure why. He just wanted to rudely brush us off without clarifying things. When I checked afterwards I noticed the revised Google hours for breakfast which I saw ends at 10am, but this is hidden and needs to be expanded by users. Store street exchange needs to change the hours to reflect the true kitchen hours because IT IS NOT 24 hours! Also, display relevant signage wherever customers enter with CLEAR kitchen hours! These type of changes will improve the customer experience and avoid awkward experiences like we had, which wasn’t our fault whatsoever! Oh and if that guy we spoke to is in charge of front of house, you’re doomed.

The waiter got our order wrong, we waited 30 minutes to get the order and it was half wrong, no apology, the food wasn’t that good mostly burned , they do have good shaved potatoes , the stake was awful

Great place if you want to vape. No ventilation and staff seem to permit it.

Called here by chance for brunch when heading into town. Food excellent, club sandwich and steak ciabatta. Lady behind bar friendly and helpful. Would recommend.

We dined at this restaurant recently while staying in the above hotel. I describe our experience as so so. The food I ordered was nice - chicken caeser salad. However my partner ordered the poached salmon fillet that included samphire. The samphire was a tiny amount, a fork full at most. We made our complaint and it was acknowledged. When the bill came there was no reduction in the meal cost and this we found this to be disappointing to say the least. However, the breakfast we ate was nice as the buffet is well stocked with lots to choose from.

I visited the restaurant on 1 July around 7pm for dinner. We were told the restaurant was full, but we could sit in the bar area and order from the restaurant menu. That was absolutely fine, so we walked to the bar area and waited to be seated. After waiting for over five minutes without any acknowledgment from the staff, a waiter finally noticed us and, in an annoyed tone, told us to sit anywhere we wanted. Once seated, we asked if we could order from the restaurant menu. The waiter rudely shouted, “No! You can only order food from the bar,” and then walked away. This was quite embarrassing as I had praised Store Street Exchange to my friend, saying the food and service were amazing. Ultimately, we decided to leave, and the waiter seemed indifferent to our departure. A very disappointing experience!

I stumbled upon this place on a rather dull morning. As soon as I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted by the staffs warmly and seated quickly. The hostess Wing was genuine and passionate. She explained to me in details about the buffet breakfast offerings. I was really impressed. The buffet included a variety of hot and cold selection, from fruits and yoghurt, to bread and pastry. Sausages and egg dishes are readily available, or one may ask the server for freshly cooked eggs in any style. While the food wasn't top notch, the staffs' attitude and service more than made up for the short comings. Another staff member Alvan, was often seen checking on the customers and made sure they were enjoying their breakfast. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends for a casual breakfast gathering, simply because the staffs were efficient, polite and helpful.

Charlie hosted me generously, even though my English was bad, he did not feel that I was annoying. Thank you, Charlie. Thank you, the street store, for hiring courteous and highly experienced employees.

Went in with some friends for a quick bite to eat. Ordered the cheese/ pear sandwich on brown. Bit of a let down. Looked really lacklustre and tasted a bit that way. I also ordered a large New Zealand Sauvignon. I know NZ and larger but my sandwich was £8.00 and bill came to £25.03. The phrase rip off comes to mind.

A fantastic restaurant in the heart of Manchester. Lovely food, fantastic service and a great atmosphere. I ate here with family on a Friday night. We were looked after very well by the staff. The restaurant was also very clean. Situated next to the Hilton Doubletree

Very, very underwhelming. The food took an age to come out, and yet my steak was overcooked (compared to the medium-rare I asked for) and not warm enough when it did arrive 🤨🤷🏼‍♂️. Very small side of fries as well.

The food was great…. just two little things 1. the steamed mussels in the sea bream main had no steamed mussels in it…. as indicated in the menu at £20 2. the caesar salad can do with less lettuce in the portion But it was good all round The focaccia bread was awesome The rotisserie chicken was moist and flavoursome

I find it truly incredible how expensive it was to eat a classic chicken sandwich. £13.75 for a sandwich + soda + service and VAT... and the worst sandwich of those sold in the supermarket. The only thing that stands out is the predisposition of the person who attended us. Very helpful. I would not go back. It doesn't deserve it.

Table for 9 was no problem and the food was hot and on time. Great range of drinks to go alongside the meal. Sarah at front of house was very helpful with the booking and nothing was a problem. Stayed at doubletree Hilton Piccadilly Manchester for the weekend as a Gold member complementary breakfast was included service and quality of the food was great thank you for the freshly made vegan omelets

Couldn’t find anywhere else to eat, we weren’t expecting much but we’re pleasantly surprised. We each had a flatbread and shared a portion of onion rings. Lovely pizza and the onion rings were amazing - didn’t go gross and stodgy even when they’d cooled down. Wasn’t a massive portion but wasn’t very hungry anyways. The staff were very friendly, will definitely come back if in need of a bite before hopping on the train

4 friends and I went for lunch on 6th December 2023. We booked in advance. First impression = nice. It was quite not too many customers which was a surprise for a city centre restuarant. The lunch menu was dissappointing not a lot of choice but we accepted that. The biggest disappointment was the service. There was plenty of (visible) staff but they were not very observant. They never bothered to see if we were finished with our mains or if we wanted a dessert, one of us had to get up and seek them out. We ordered 5 and they only brought 4, we had to wait for the missing one to come before the rest of us could eat. When we voiced our disappointment at the lack of service and said we would not be returning it fell on deaf ears. A female member of staff listened and said she would report our concerns to ??? Service was included in the bill total, 10% of £187.55. If we had noticed before we paid we would have refused to pay for a service we did not receive. Shame on you!

We were welcomed by warm and friendly staff who took good care of us. Went for the rib eye steak and it was perfect! I especially loved the calamari. Can't fault the lovely brownie too. I have stayed at this hotel for 26 nights over the past 2 mths, and I found it to be a very pleasant experience. The reception staff are very nice at all times. The restaurant staff are very professional, I would describe the team there as a well oiled machine and perform their operations very smoothly. Makes front of house look so easy you’d wonder how others can get it so wrong. Of course it is helped by the top notch food quality coming out from the kitchen. Bravo to all the team there.

We went with friends to the Store Street Exchange for dinner. I had half Chicken and Sundae. Food was excellent and coupled with their very professional staff, there is nothing to complain and a guaranteed revisit. We were first greeted by Susanne at our entrance who was very polite, calm and helpful. Her cheerful smile is remarkable and made us feel very welcome upon entering the place. Ruben who served our table is very nice and professional, with all information on the menu, we could quickly make up our decision. Throughout the dinner, he was very attentive yet not bothering us, this is 5 stars service. After knowing that I am non-alcoholic, Bogdan made ma a refreshing mocktail which made my evening. Decor, Ambience and Environment is cozy warm friendly and lively. I am not a fan of beef but my friends said theirs were excellent. My half chicken is the best I have in city centre. With the tailor made mocktail, I could not have enjoyed a dinner more. The place is a gem in the city with a team like this, guests are welcomed and food is excellent, what else can we complain. We will definitely return.

Visited Manchester and decided to go for dinner, i wasn’t aware that this so called restaurant is attached to a hotel chain which is a bit disappointing.. we spent £91 and regretted it, will not be returning. Staff lovely, fairly clean, however the food was not great. Calamari and garlic bread starter was okay, we ordered two steaks and they were terrible.. i am not a big fan of “service charges” that get put on the bill at 10%. My partner didn’t read the receipt properly and ended up paying nearly £10 in tips which was not worth the food we had. We were both very disappointed.

The staff and service very good but extremely disappointed with the food. We ordered the sharing platter which cost £49.50 and sad to say there was only enough food for one person. The small amount of chicken was nice the pork was tasty but the beef was very over cooked, very dry and tasteless. Would not recommend this restaurant very over priced for what you get.

Get the whole chicken with chips and gravy, you won’t regret it!! The best chicken I’ve ever tasted and all cooked and seasoned to perfection!!!! The gravy was stunning and the chips were seasoned and cooked to perfection!!!! We don’t live nearby and we have both said we’re going to miss that chicken and willing to travel over 2 hours to have it again. We also had dessert and cocktails. We booked Store Street for my brother in law's 40th birthday meal, so there were about 15 adults and 5 children. We were given a private room and looked after really well by the team - Konstantin, Sofia and Hannah. They were flexible as some people arrived late. All the food was really tasty and the kids portions were huge! All in all, a good experience.

The customer service was outstanding, and not just once. The whole stay has been amazing. Grace, Ashley, and Lauren were outstanding and I look forward to visiting again.

The host was upset that we didn’t have a late lunch reservation for six people, even though the restaurant had several empty tables (which did not fill up while we were there), and we were hotel guests so could not have made an accurate reservation due to flights and transport to the hotel. We ordered nourish bowls and sandwiches which took over 45 minutes to bring and nothing had flavor. The sandwiches were similar to a sandwich from a convenience store or grocery store but was very overpriced. I do not recommend this restaurant.

I later found out by looking at photos it was meant to come with gravy, there wasn't any on my plate. Another person on the table had the soup it was bland and watery. Attached to the Hilton is this beautiful open seating area for guests. It's well lit, with gorgeous furniture, serving delicios food and coffee. Must try the chicken soup! It was divine!

The buffalo wings are unbelievable. They seem to have had the same recipe for a few years, and they never disappoint. They're a bit messy, so ask for extra napkins. Friendly service.
