We stopped for tea and cake! The cakes were excellent and seemed great value. The breakfast menu looking inviting and good value. We may return? YMMV

Lovely cup of tea but when I asked about the cake ingredients the only member of staff replied “I haven’t got a clue”. This is poor customer service and very risky got those of us with allergies.

As a family of 4 we had a lovely breakfast at the cafe. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and it was a lovely atmosphere in side the cafe. The breakfasts were very reasonably priced and were large and very good quality. Highly recommended. Thanks to the full team for setting our holiday off on such a high note.

This place is great for takeaway and often has a jolly table or two of happy guests they have a great little menu and the baked goods and produce are exceptional, its a delight to visit as the vibe is traditional and comforting but with great modern tweaks - like really good coffee and sourdough toast

We stopped at Sticklepath to wait for the upcoming traffic to calm down and have some lunch. The cute store front cues up the amazing food. We all (even the picky eater) really enjoyed our food. Spotted lots of local produce that we didn’t have space to try since the portion are quite big for what we paid. Couldn’t recommend this place enough for a lunch stop - much better than the cramped service station just before!

A gem of a village shop, clearly doing everything they can to keep a community going through Covid. Great food, service and coffee! Centre of the village, people friendly and helpful. Think Arkwright shop in a Devon village, all aprons, smiles, veg and pasties.

Popped into this little shop come cafe with our dog,we were sat outside but were invited inside as it was a rather chilly morning. The prices were surprisingly cheap for good honest food and coffee and the cafe was warm and inviting with plenty of seating available. I’d recommend the chocolate cake and the scones looked like they’d complement a cream tea.

Popped in with my partner before going across the road to visit the foundry. Mug of tea good. Cake good as was my partners cream tea but sadly we thought a lot of things lacked. There was no conversation with the lady who did the food in fact, we weren't even asked if we were ready to order we had to sumise that "she" was ready to take our order as she leaned on the food counter with her pad! The man who runs it was there Manning the shop part but even he didn't acknowledge that we were there when he came over to speak to her. The son (roughly 13) popped into the shop from upstairs with so is on and no shoes! Not a good look when you're trying to eat! Shop was not very well stocked and looked sparse, such a shame as the outside promised a quaint little village tea room but would have got better response ie: friendly conversation, had we visited Lldls!

Visited Finch Foundry which is just opposite this gem - the foundry didn't open until 11am so we called in the cafe to pass a few minutes. But we found a excellent gem of a cafe/store. My son had a bacon cob which he said was wonderful especially the local bread in which it was prepared. We both enjoyed a lovely coffee. The lady of the premises was very friendly and we all enjoyed a joke or two - all in all a cafe worthy of your presence. very good wifi too !

Today we went on the spur of the moment for lunch at the Taw River Inn at Sticklepath. Unfortunately the Landlady informed us that due to pressure of bookings we could not eat for at least an hour. However she suggested we might like to try the Café in the store next door (which is owned by the Pub but leased to a very enterprising couple. We were very pleasantly surprised. I had the 7 item breakfast (tailor made to your own requirements) My wife had the Brunch. The quality was excellent, real sausages, lean and tasty bacon, real chips with my wifes brunch. Now we are spoilt for choice for somewhere to eat in Sticklepath! We will definitely be eating here again.

Very readonably priced too! If you are passing through I strongly recommend you give the cafe and stores a try. You won't regret it!

There is always a comforting smell of home-cooked breakfasts and/ or coffee when I pop in for locally-sourced milk and comestibles. The couple who run it are friendly and cheerful and hope to develop this enterprise. It gets very busy at certain times of the year as it is a very welcome refreshment stop. Strategically located on the edge of northern Dartmoor, plus it's just over the road from the National Trust's Finch Foundry and down the street from award-winning Bowden Hostas. Come to Sticklepath!

This restaurant was popular, but, being quite small, has CLOSED at this spot, but HAS MOVED to FORE STREET about 300 yards to the East, near the East Okement River, and its name has changed to " The Allotment ", as it uses food all supplied locally. I highly recommend it for a smiley welcome & good wholesome food. Now sells jams & preserves.

Came here back in May this year and had a fantastic lunch with a warm welcome and excellent service so decided to return for another birthday celebration as we were so impressed before. Regretfully this time round it was no where near the same. As we were a big group (8 of us) we had to pre-order the food - fair enough. On arrival there wasn't great welcome and it then took about 15 minutes before coming to take our drinks order. When serving our drinks and opening the wine, the poor waiter was distracted by another customer and didn't follow though in continuing to open the bottle (which the bottle opener was half way through) so we had to finish that. Then, the food was another half an hour or so after that meaning we had been there for about 45 minutes already - bearing mind this was pre-ordered and you are limited on how long you can have the table for. When the food arrived, it was absolutely embarrassing - the portion sizes were like that of a snack. This wasn't tapas, it was an insult. The sourdough bread is £5.10 per portion and all it is is literally 4/5 slices of very small baguette bread. The so called "small-plates" were indeed VERY small. Some dishes lacked seasoning and were also bland - different or new chef perhaps? So be very cautious when ordering your food - our bill was £326.00 and we left hungry and very disappointed. Before in May we were stuffed. I have also read other people's reviews saying similar things so please do take note. It's clear the staff are either new or need training - by all means they were not rude at all, but inexperienced. We did leave them a tip out of courtesy however and didn't want to cause a fuss and complain on the day. Sadly we will not be returning, which is a real shame. Wish they had kept the same flair as before.
