Really good sausages and the price was surprisingly low too 😀

Been coming here a while now. I have been testing to see if I would move my full monthly meat orders to here full time from my current Butchers (further away travelling) Older gentleman with glasses has been rude to me on several occasions. On one of these occasions, his colleague even checked him. There have been other things to note, however, they didn’t really bother me at the time and still don’t now. Will take my £200-£300 monthly business eleswhere. Spiteful little man.

We popped in here on our way home and managed to bag the last two pasties for the day and oh my god, every other pastie we had eaten to this point from all over cornwall was not a patch on these. The next time we are back down that way you can rest assured we will be back regardless of where we are staying and if my Wife has anything to do with it we will probably pack up and move down for good measure. why was it so good? well, it was made correctly for one but more importantly, it was FULL, i mean perfectly full, not full on onion and so stuffed it all falls on the floor, this was perfect with really good size chucks of meat, meat you had to actually chew, meat that was perfectly cooked and to top it off it was not dripping in grease!

Winning , best available, anywhere,steak pasty. Generous filling,perfectly seasoned, traditional, proper as it should be Pasty.

An example of Palmer's finest pork pie. Minimal jelly,maximum meat!. The guys in store are always helpful and know what they are talking about. Our butchers of choice. Rolled lamb in very good.and the belly pork.thats enough, its all good.

Most amazing sausage rolls in human existence

Wonderful pork pies - best in town. Very friendly people and a good array of cuts of meat. Their sausages are really good as is the belly pork. They also stock Creedy Carvers which is very good free range chicken.

Fantastic meat. I did not realise how bad tesco meat was until I tried Palmers. Palmers bacon is as thick as cardboard and with no additive, Tescos bacon is as thin as printer paper and pumped up with chemicals that show themselves when tried as white spit globules. Disgusting! We always make a special trip to Palmers every week and have not bought any meat in Tescos for years now. Palmers staff are really friendly and have a laugh. Don't get that in Tesco either.

Duncan and his team are both professional and friendly. We use their produce for our pub and the meat is of the highest quality and local. Daily deliveries ensures we get the freshest of produce. Would highly recommend their home cooked scotch eggs and pork pies which we sell as bar snacks and they don’t last long!

Great traditional butchers. Their cooked meats and pasties are fabulous. The pasties sell out really quickly but if you give them a ring and let them know what time you will be there they will hold the ones you want back.

When in Tavistock its a must for me to visit palmers, the staff are very helpful and friendly and always do there best to help when choosing something different. I have been trying their sausages and can recommend the crackle black pepper, nor over peppery but enough to enhance the flavour of a great butchers sausage. It's around £3.60 to £3.80 for 6 large sausages that are superb. As with all butchers they do all the usual meats and cuts but they carry many other tasty delights such as locally produced mustard and chutney .

Great meat and the service in this shop is top notch. I recommend this butcher to everyone.

When on holiday here why not buy local produce that has taste? Always our first stop on holiday to fill the larder.

Fantastic pasties, full of chunks of steak with plenty of vegetables. Their giant steak is the best. I buy them frozen to take up north to Lancashire, because they only know how to make pies up north, not pasties. I even give, very grudgingly, two pasties to our local butcher who also thinks they are fantastic, but can’t make them like Palmers! Also fabulous sausage rolls.

Great Scotch eggs and home made steak pies and really excellent pasties, in my view the best in Tavistock

I love this butchers the lads behind the counter are really helpful and the sausages are the best I've tasted I travel down from Torrington for them,the pies,scotch eggs and other meat are also superb

Excellent selection of great quality meat! Whilst obviously more expensive than supermarket meat, the quality is exceptional and all local!

Palmer's is a traditional butcher's in the heart of Tavistock. We went in wanting quite a few ingrdients, some of which were small quantities. They were very happy to split sealed packs to give us the quantity we wanted. Everything we bought was of the highest quality and tasted great. It's a pity we only get to Tavistock a few times a year!

I Buy all my meat from this Butcher, good value, plus very helpful staff. They also sell very good duck eggs, and a good selection of chutneys, jams and mustard of all types.

Want to encourage everyone out there to check out Palmers I am here on holiday from Canada have been trying Cornish pasties everywhere I go and I have to say that Palmers are absolutely the best I have ever tasted very morish great price absolutely delicious gonna be sad to leave great friendly service

Delicious Devon pasties packed with prime locally sourced beef. Their burgers are equally spectacular. A good old-fashioned butchers. The best in a town with two other excellent butchers shops.

This is a good old-fashioned butchers shop. Perhaps the best the three excellent butchers in Tavistock. All the meat is good and fresh and the pasties are stuffed with lean meat. The staff are friendly and helpful

I have just eaten a totally tasteless pork pie from Palmers, in a deli in Yelverton. Not sure how they mamaged to make a pork pie with no flavour whatsoever!.

Lovely well stocked high class butchers the home cooked ham was divine the belly pork sensational the beef outstanding and with such an array of jar and potted goodies for accompanying or indeed for gifts to take home there really is no need to go anywhere else .

Las empanadas tienen grandes trozos de carne, sin espacios vacíos, un delicioso pastel. Cada trago es una delicia. Queríamos empanadas calientes, llamado para verificar que ellos tenían y pedían volver en 35 minutos. Genial. Tiempo para mirar las tiendas!

We bought bacon and sausages etc. We also bought belly pork for our BBQ. The meat as usual is amazing, the sausages are to die for. Lovely service, very friendly staff. Go back each time we go to Tavistock. Wish they delivered to Dorset.

Excellent service... quality meats

Staff left a bitter taste. First visit; served by a nice friendly chap, then I heard the the words 'scuse fingers' and he proceeded to handle different meats with bare hands, with disposable gloves in plain sight I was not a happy bunny. Second visit we were served by a real dour faced soul, when asked how much an item was, just glared and peeled back the price label which couldn't be seen without being peeled back. So all in all I would not recommend this 'High class' butchers.

Aquí en gente de tavistock todos nosotros tienen opiniones diferentes de lo que es independiente de la carnicería mejor. Para mí no hay nada mejor que palmeras. La carne es siempre de primera calidad, sus productos caseros, hamburguesa, salchichas... o salsa de carne cubierto están muy bien preparados. Incluso el personal es muy amable y educado. A pesar de que algunos de ellos pegan jajaja!!

I do not live locally, but my Dad does and he always buys his Pork Sausages from here and they are very nice and a nice treat when I visit. Sausages much better than any supermarket sausage I have ever tried.

Old family run place for as long as I can remember and I'm 57, a wonderful butchers, ask for things to be done and it's not a problem, the best by far, in fact, I would say very hard to find better in Devon, well done, oh and the staff are all turned out well, clean and smart, great service.

They supply a good deal of meat to Grub Up the cult burger wagon of thirty years which is as good a recommendation as any.

the range of meat here is wonderful, always tender no matter what way you like it... only the best used, do delicious pies too...

On holiday in the area. Picked up some steaks for the bbq. Beautiful meat, tender, juicy, just what we wanted. You can usually tell a good butcher from the produce on display, but just in case you can't, this is a good one!!

It might be a butchers, but this is the best place in Tavistock for your traditional pasty. Full of lovely meat and the pastry just how I like it.

I shop here regularly for beautiful cuts of meat, but I have to say the real treat is their homemade jumbo Cornish pasties. Personally I think they are the best in town, full of flavour and packed to the brim with filling. The pastry is just right, not too thick and does not have a soggy bottom as others around seem to have. The service is very good too, friendly and knowledgeable, they take debit and credit cards, unlike another butchers in the area which doesn't. (Who walks around with a wad of notes nowadays?)

You tell them what you want and they get it. I love calves liver, difficult to get but Palmers had it in stock. Meat generally is of a high standard and eggs and milk is also available. Pleasant attentive and helpful staff make a visit worthwhile.

There's a good selection of eating places nearby, as reviewed elsewhere on Trip Advisor. The butchers is good for meat.

Tavistock is lucky enough to have 3 fine butchers, all with their own loyal clientele and speciaities and each of them in turn supplying the areas restaurats and pubs with locally sourced meat, be it pork, beef,lamb or chicken. Palmers is bang in the centre of town and has the best location, providing in addition a great range of dairy products, sauces and condiments, their own ham, sausages and a range of hot pies and pasties.

I buy all my meat from this butcher's shop, the quality is excellent, the shop is spotless and an added bonus is that all the staff are polite and friendly

Popped in here whilst browsing the town, and saw they had a hot produce section of homemade pasties and sausage rolls. The sausage roll at 70p was a bargain and it was very tasty and well filled - the best I've had in a long time. Service friendly and quick - overall recommended.
