Really disappointing. We came here last uear and everything was incredible. But....called earlier this year and was told they were shut til Summer. Called again last week and I couldn't believe it when I was told they are shut til next Summer. What?? Autumn and Winter are critical months for any hotel or BandB. Do these people actually want to stay afloat? Crazy.

I stayed here on day four of a Dartmoor walking holiday. Colin and Natasha were great — friendly, helpful. The breakfast was excellent, and several guests commented on how lovely the quiet breakfast music was — so much better than having a TV news show on! The room was also great — clean and with a very comfortable bed.

What a great find this place is! Stayed here last week for one night and really enjoyed it. The owners Natasha & Colin were lovely and really looked after us. Lovely food with very relaxed and unhurried dinner - all freshly cooked and beautifully served and breakfast was superb. Very comfortable room and the whole place is full of character. Natasha and Colin are wonderful hosts who have created a beautiful place to stay, all done with hard work, love and care. We had a perfect night in comfy beds and with the peace and quiet of the village in the foothills of Dartmoor it made for a magical experience. Superb home cooked breakfast with plenty of choice in a cosy room with a wood burner, we would highly recommend staying here any time of the year. Thank you so much for taking care of us and making sure our stay was everything we needed.

Stayed here for a few nights recently,,, Location was great for us,,,, nice and quiet. Hosts, Colin and Natasha were fantastic hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them, and they always found time for a chat. Breakfast, cooked freshly to order every morning, was very tasty. Our room was lovely,,, everything that we would wish for,,, tea tray was replenished as requested. It was comfy too. They also offered evening meals, cooked to order, which were delicious. We shall definitely be staying here again on our next ventures into Devon.

The Seven Stars bed and breakfast is a hidden treasure in the Devon countryside. Natasha and Colin are working so hard to turn what was an unloved building in need of a lot of work into a warm welcoming Bed and breakfast. The rooms are newly decorated ,clean and comfortable with everything that you need for your stay . The evening meal was absolutely delicious as was the dessert, plenty of choice even without stealing Colin’s sticky toffee pudding. Breakfast was also very tasty especially Natasha’s twist on the porridge and the rest of our party enjoyed their full English and veggie sausages.Natasha and Colin are so lovely that you leave feeling as if you have stayed with friends.

Dear Colin and Natasha. What a wonderful stay we had in June. We arrived late on the 23rd of June, mislead by our GPS. But you took us gently back to Okehampton at a time where we had given up all hope. You served a drink while we were waiting for our meal. We were eased up by you and your storytelling and your positive attitude. The meal was second to none and the room was even better. What a great B & B you have created. We really long to come back soon. Thanks guys. You are truly amazing. Kind regards Anne and Michael, Denmark

Living nearby my wife and I have regularly dined at the Seven Stars and have come to consider Natasha and Colin as personal friends. The food at Seven Stars is always excellent, they use good quality products which are tasty and always served hot. Having recently moved away from the area, I needed to return for work and had the pleasure of staying in one of the exceptionally clean and comfortable rooms for 4 nights. I also had the opportunity to sample the excellent cooked breakfast, which included traditional full English. Just like the evening meals I have eaten at the Seven Stars breakfast consisted of quality ingredients, cooked to perfection. Natasha and Colin are excellent hosts and nothing is too much trouble. They ensured I had everything I needed to make my stay comfortable. If you need somewhere to stay in Devon I would highly recommend booking into Seven Stars where you will enjoy comfortable rooms, excellent food and friendly and hospitable hosts.

Such a shame there is no option to give more than 5 stars to a place that does its name justice. In addition to the convenience of the location, the cleanliness of the rooms and the cosiness of the dining room, the service provided by the owners, Natasha and Colin, made the experience outstanding!!! Far from crowded areas, this option is perfect for those who look for a quiet and peaceful place wherein to recharge batteries from the busy day-to-day. Breakfast is also nice, both quality and portion-wise! If I ever go back to Dartmoor Park, I'll go straight to this place to ensure another 7 Stars experience!!

We stayed for 4 nights in Seven stars and, while there is no such thing as a seven stars hotel or B&B, the welcome certainly was worthy of 7 stars. The rooms were in the ground floor but really quiet with a view to the local church. Super clean too. The breakfast was really nice and filling to prepare for the Dartmoor trails! We also had the joy of staying for dinner and it was great too. Parking is available and you can get to anywhere in Dartmoor park from there. Big thanks to Natasha and Colin that made us actually feel at home. This is the first place I actually miss staying at.

We've recently spent four nights at this charming little B&B in the north of Dartmoor National Park. We were so well taken care of - we cannot thank Natasha and Collin enough. We were quite late arriving due to traffic, and even though we didn't manage to get there before midnight, Natasha was waiting for us at the door to receive us and show us to our rooms. We got our breakfast cooked to order every morning and an excellent dinner on one of the nights of our stay. We couldn't ask for friendlier hosts! Our small room was nice and comfortable, with towel warmers, easy-to-adjust heating, kettle, tea, coffee, water bottles replenished daily, plenty of eletric plugs, and a nice soft bed; and although there was no wardobe, there were hooks to hang clothes. WiFi was good for most of our stay (not so good on the last day, though it might have been due to weather conditions). The bathroom was quite small, but it was no inconvenience to us. The shower was easy to operate, with good temperature and water pressure. The location is really nice, not too far from all the major points of interest in Dartmoor, and there is parking right in front of the property. Of note, there is a church nearby that rings a bell every half hour - however this did not disturb our sleep at all. We strongly recommend, and we would definitely stay again!

Under new owners. (May2021) A modernised offering combined with tastefully restored period features; wooden beams and exposed brickwork. king size bed, large shower cubicle with electric shower and plenty of complimentary lotions, gels, etc. TV has mainstream channels plus access to Netflix, Prime and Rakuten apps. All newly restored and finished to a high standard, very clean and comfortable sleep, Dining room/Bar again renovated to a modern style with incorporated period features and log burner. Good breakfast offering cereal, yoghurt, fruit juice, tea, coffee, toast and cooked. Hosts very friendly and chatty and will provide evening meal on request/booking. Not so much dislikes, just noteworthy observations to consider. A seemingly safe area, on road parking wasn't too much of a problem during our stay however; it is reasonably limited and may become an issue during Church business hours/peak season. The king-size bed fills the room and leaves just enough space to move about providing you are able to make good use of the cupboard space available. Due to the spacious shower, WC and sink use is workable but could be considered a little on the snug side.

A very disappointing bar meal. It was claimed that the pies were home made, but I very much doubt they were made on the premises. The small steak and Stilton pie only contained 1 cube of meat and the gravy was extremely salty and gloopy contained within a mass produced pastry case bearing the markings of an aluminium foil pie container. On top of this we had to ask for it to be heated to an acceptable temperature as it was served merely warm. The cheese burger was not hot and the cheese not melted and served very plain without salad or rellish. Not a pleasant experience and will not be repeated. These people need to get it together!

We love this pub in a small village away from main roads and tourist routes and have returned often. This is the second time we have commented on the place. We don't rate the food too highly but for a casual fun lunch it can't be bettered. It is only open for food on Thursdays through Sunday. The landlord, Tony, has turned what was a boring old fashioned pub into a haven of delight but it seemed to us it was not well frequented by locals which is a real shame. Pubs like this are rare in the countryside these days and unless it is used more it may be lost hence the comment 'use it or lose it'.

We were here as a group of 10 for an 80th birthday lunch. I had the usual Sunday roast beef which was very nice. Our group was a little uncertain as to which desserts to have and the host arranged some selection platters of home-made cheesecake, profiteroles, etc. which was a lovely end to the meal. The Dartmoor village setting is not really off the beaten track and the pub is worth visiting for the movie and cricket arcana and the specially brewed Church House Ale.

The pub has some wonderful artefacts that vie for your attention until the food is served; a wide range of interesting hardback books, histories and photos of the glory days of the greatest Hollywood actresses and quirky statues and pictures. We had a wonderful dinner and particularly enjoyed the 4 little pigs; pork served four different and delicious ways. The vegetable soup was rich and hot with thin slices of aubergine laid on top that had been cooked to really enhance its taste. The pâté was so fresh and tangy with a small salad. To top it all, the beer is cask, in fine order and the overall meal and drinks were great value. A wonderful meal served by an attentive host, Tony.

We were staying nearby for the week and made this pub our local. The décor is just like being in someone's front room, warm and inviting. The draught ales were very well kept as were the wines on offer. I can recommend the Malbec! We will certainly return to this pub on our next visit to Devon.

We visited a couple of weeks ago and received a very friendly welcome. But I have to say we were served the most amazing fish and chips for lunch. I can only say they were the best I have ever tasted and we're exceptionally well priced. We will be back! Thank you so much.

A group of twelve friends lunched today at The Seven Stars and we are pleased to say that the new chef exceeded our expectations. The food was original and well presented and most importantly tasted really good. Starters, Mains and puddings were all very well received. The service was excellent and the decor is designed for interest and comfort and you can be sure of a warm welcome from Tony Fey, the Landlord.

What a lovely pub. We stayed with friends in South Zeal who suggested we go here for an evening meal. As soon as you walk in the atmosphere grabs you. It is like being invited into someone's front room. Yes there are tables but also a well worn leather sofa and chairs, books, newspaper hangers with something that caught the publicans eye (not recent things) It just feels very warm and inviting. Tony, the publican is a great host, very entertaining. The five of us all enjoyed our meals, so much so that when we stopped off a week later we went back. We could have gone to an upmarket restaurant but it was so enjoyable here we all voted to go again. Again we all enjoyed our meals. I heard Tony bemoan the fact that English asparagus would soon be over but he was looking forward to the new season runner beans......it's all seasonal local produce that is used.....it was just really nice to hear. Loved his take on the Seven Stars.....iconic pictures of leading ladies......Audrey Hepburn, Vivien Leith and some tricky ones that are definitely there to test you! Thanks Tony and your team for two really lovely evenings. A lovely finish to our holiday. I do wish this pub was 250 miles closer to home, it would be my choice of a local. Well done.

Fed up of chain pubs and pretentious gastropubs? Then look no further than the Seven Stars, well worth the journey down the Devon lanes. The lounge is cosy, furnished thoughtfully and very comfortable. Lots of original prints adorn the room.Tony the landlord is a real character: anecdotes, slightly joshing but highly amiable manners, fluid approach to the menu and sartorially fascinating (although I was puzzled by a wrist watch to supplement the pocket watch). The gentleman who helped him was kindness and efficiency personified and we were happy to see him, by chance, next day in South Zeal.If something was not on the menu Tony was happy to try to cater to anyone's (sometimes finicky!) requirements. The food was not spectacular but it was more than passable. Very generous cheeseboard. The Church House ale (local - the brewer was in the pub!) and well-kept Guinness were excellent. All in all, well worth a visit.

Seriously Good FoodA very pleasant evening was had last night at The Seven Stars. The landlord was a very enjoyable character, full of stories and tales. The presentation of the food was really good and the taste and flavour was even better. Using good quality ingredients. Will return soon.Julian and Mary

Big thanks to the landlord and his team for a wonderful night of good food and conversation in a top notch local pub. The landlord has obviously worked hard to create an interesting atmosphere which sets its apart from the usual stark and clinical appearance of the modern pub. This is a very welcoming pub with a menu that provides good consistent food for all tastes. I would definitely recommend this to family and friends and people who might just be passing through. I will definitely be back. Well done, this should be a blueprint for how the modern pub should be.

This pub has changed hands several times in the past few years..the latest incumbent is an interesting character with great charm. The bar is L shaped and full of comfy furniture, most interesting photos and pictures of historic interest. It was very busy when we arrived, without booking, yet we were looked after and fed and spent a very pleasant evening. The village is very small but has some lovely old cottages and a gorgeous church!

The food in here is inferior quality and definitely NOT gastro! Pre-cooked and reheated sausages with gloopy onion gravy and bland mash is not my idea of gastro food. My wife, being a coeliac, had limited choices, despite having discussed this in advance. The option she chose was served as a starter version, not a main course version as ordered. The dining area is also very small, which means everyone can hear each others' conversations. And, all dogs are welcome, which may not suit you.

I honestly do not know where other reviewers ate because our experience was nothing like theirs. We booked a `Sunday Lunch` well in advance as we thought in a gastro pub as advertised in their website on here. Fantastic menu. Ha ha! Ever been had?We arrived slightly early intending to have a drink before lunch. We didn`t have chance to order before we were told it was roast beef & our table was set with cutlery for starters & main right under the television which everyone in the bar & around were watching. There were only 3 table in the room so not much choice there. We did however move our drinks & cutlery to one alongside when it was vacated.I was rather taken aback at the only option being roast beef & this was assumed by the landlord that i did not want the beef. He offered me chicken breast which I opted for although I would have willingly had the beef. I was looking around for menus but there were none around at all..Anyway, we waited & waited several times we were told it wouldn`t be long & eventually the landlord came to the table apologising for the delay caused apparently because they had to cook the chicken from scratch!!!!!Eventually it was served on cold plates.. The beef was chewy & the chicken I would say had been microwaved & for too long. There was a big untidy heap of chicken breast in chunks on my plate, roasties which were very nice I might add, a yorkshire & 2 stuffing balls. My husband also had 2 stuffing balls with his beef! The barely cooked carrots & broccoli was brought to the table also in cold dishes & there were no chance of starters which the table had been set for either. The roast parsnips were like rubber as was the chicken. I only managed toe at some roasties as the rest was totally unappetising & the presentation of both meals left a lot to be desired. If this is the sort of meal dished up when prebooked I cannot start to believe how they get to the top of the table for restaurants in Okehampton. The bar was only a few feet away & just as we had started our` meal ` a couple entered the room with a 15 year old boxer/mastiff cross. Now please bear in mind we are dog lovers & he was a dear old fellow BUT he had a huge lump on his side couldn`t take his eyes of our table & from only a couple of feet away at most lay slobbering while we tried to make the most of what we found on our plates. The dogs owner did have the courtesy to wipe away the slobber with a cloth but.........No mention of sweet for afters. We had chosen this place from a totally misleading website on here & we had travelled well over 200 miles the day before & were looking forward to a wonderful meal.Trip adviser needs to remove the website link as reading other comments lately the menu if available is noting like the one on the website.

Over the decades I found myself pulled by nature to this extraordinary village: many times a girlfriend and I would find ourselves entranced by it, and at its epicentre, this welcoming gorgeous pub. OUTSTANDING.
