Great Sunday lunch for my birthday, fab portions, very hot food, service was fast and very polite and friendly, room was warm and overall a great place to celebrate with Family

Had a fantastic Sunday lunch today with my wife at The Railway , started off in the bar for a drink first , lad behind the bar was friendly and polite . We went through to our table and was greeted by Andrea the new landlady who was brilliant all the way through . The food was excellent and so was the service, we will be back soon

Popped in for a quick drink as in the area, which then turned into a few more. Guinness great, friendly staff, pub filled up while we were there so clearly popular. Food looked great although didn’t try it this time. Will call in again when next nearby.

Lovely staff nice young man on the bar couldn’t fault but the service was a bit slow so not sure I would eat there again but maybe it was just a busy day

Amazing food, wonderful fast service with a smile. Lovley cocktails and fabulous dressers. I got a warm welcome and was quickly seated. I had the lasagna with garlic bread and for dessert a chocolate brownie with ice cream. I also enjoyed a lovley expresso Martin which was perfect.

Great band on and a lovely atmosphere, everyone really friendly. Can't wait to try their food. Just one bug bear of mine is that if you have lovely filament lights with shades, please ensure you polish them regularly, I hate seeing dust on the shade and bulb. Just being picky but it's the small things sometimes

There web site shows a lunch menu with different prices but was told in pub that they had no specific lunch menu. Bit of a mix up after ordering so had to wait almost an hour for food. But food was nice and prices were reasonable

Came to try a new menu and it was fantastic . Big improvement in this pub regards customer service and food quality. Definitely a place to celebrate special occasions or just pop in for a meal.

A family dinner for my Dad's birthday. Table booked for 5.30 as we had children with us. Terrible service from start to finish, the restaurant was empty apart from my family. Three out of the six meals were all incorrect or food was missing. We will not return for food it's a real shame as the pub is lovely. You really need to up your game.

We paid a visit to The Railway on a Friday night and although they were very busy they managed to find a table for the 4 of us. The food arrived quickly and was hot. All four meals were delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We then moved into the bar where they had a live band playing. The atmosphere was good and overall we all had a good night. Would definitely return again 😊

3 meals came out wrong I had pasta with chicken and bacon and couldn't find any bacon at all very disappointing expensive for what u got

Popped in for some food to kill time and definitely recommend! The bartender (I didn't quite catch his name) was very friendly and the service was quick. We ordered the sharer nachos and chips which came very quickly and was very good :)

Mixed Grill was awful. The meat was cooked that bad that I had to use the overcooked chicken as a tooth pick. Lasagne was luke warm and not great. Only plus was the pint of lager.

Would rate a zero there’s one chief who don’t even know what he’s doing 1 bar person that can’t work the menu took 30 min to order 2 people bought drinks and payed but go kicked out for not booking poor service food took 2hrs to come don’t recommend especially with people under 13 they were a nightmare

Found this as son changed dojo and goes to the martial arts across the road... were from Coventry and love to find new places to eat... we called and they fitted us in and it was well worth it Burgers was so nice 😋 kids menu is limited but my son who is a fussy eater enjoyed his meal... didnt manage desert this time but we will be back and found out dog friendly so our four legged couch potato can join us next time too... lovely staff very friendly... highly recommend...

I came in for a quick pint before my train and ended up waiting for the next one because i was to busy trying all the drinks, amazing selection and lovely staff. Six nations is also a bonus!

We treated ourselves to Sunday lunch as eaten in here a few times but not for Sunday lunch, won’t be back for it again. The meat was good but did have a lot of fat on it as for the rest was all Aunt Bessie’s frozen everything, paid extra for cauliflower cheese which was just a packet mix cheese sauce. When you go out for lunch expect it to be well cooked good fresh food better than you can cook at home this clearly wasn’t. Was gonna have dessert but as we was so let down with dinner didn’t fancy it, Overall very disappointed

Most perfect Sunday lunch ! For such a good price. They pile food on the plate and I could barely finish it! It came out quick and hot and it was delicious! Lovely staff will definitely be back:)

We held our daughters Christening celebration here after the Church service. We had part of the pub sectioned off and a buffet. Everyone absolutely loved it! Great friendly staff and great selection of buffet food! Would highly recommend.

Poor service Poor food Only one chef on. Waitress didn’t know anything ! Loads of food was off the menu and kitchen closed at 8 so couldn’t have puddings! Very disappointed as we use to love coming to the steamin billy. We were the only ones eating at the time so I guess that speaks volumes . Sort it out the railway !

Had an excellent breakfast at the railway this morning, the food was delicious and great value for money. 3 of us all had a medium breakfast which was plentiful,vall of us struggled to eat it. We will be going back next week, the staff we're extremely friendly and the service was quick. The food was cooked fresh, but arrived in good time.

Came here Saturday for a few drinks with friends ended up having some food. All in all fantastic service staff are friendly and nothing is to much and the food was delicious defiantly be returning

Always been a fan of this place, and I had heard some good things following the renovation, so was very keen to visit. I popped in last Sunday and spoke to a very pleasant member of bar staff who took a booking for a table of four for last night (01/12/23). I was pleased that confirmation was given that the venue was still dog friendly, and he even spotted my New England Patriots hat, and we had a very brief NFL conversation. Having arrived last night, we attempted to enter with our dog, however whilst the pub is dog friendly, the restaurant is not. Honest mistake I thought, and a member of bar staff said that we’d be ok ordering from the restaurant and eating in the pub, which we were fine with. Upon entering the restaurant again to seek menus, we were told that the kitchen was actually only open for the festive menu. Again, fair enough, honest mistake I thought, and we’d have been OK(ish) with ordering from the festive menu. However, the conversation then changed to the fact that the restaurant was now only open for private Christmas parties, and we wouldn’t be able to order anything at all. This was surprising and disappointing in equal measure, as there had been plenty of opportunities to tell us this, as we’d already spent around 30min in the pub having a drink before food. We were told that our booking “should not have been taken” however having left contact details several days previous when booking, I find it astonishing that nobody took the time to call to explain this prior to arrival. In the end, we walked to Tarro Lounge, who were extremely accommodating as always. I’m not one to be overly negative, however I found the whole experience really poor in terms of service, and won’t be returning as a result. This is a shame, as the atmosphere is generally friendly, there is a good selection of drinks, and the new menu looked to have been given a lot of thought. We strongly recommend avoiding based on service levels for the time being.

I ordered glass of red wine , then went and ordered same wine as it was very nice I got given a red wine that was not what I had he did let me try some other wines but wasn't then then he said he was too busy , if you don't no what you have given customers don't serve it I left a full glass of red wine won't be back in there

Went for Sunday lunch and were very disappointed. Food was tasteless and the “Roast Chicken” was certainly not roasted but steamed within an inch of its life! Vegetables (overcooked cabbage and peas) were tasteless as was the gravy! Never again!!

We Really enjoyed our afternoon at the Railway, first ever visit. The staff where welcoming, friendly and nothing was to much bother. The Sunday Roast was perfect, fresh vegetables, lovely yorki and scrumpy gravy. Would definitely recommend. 5 Stars from us.

My son and myself went here for the first time on a Wednesday before we went the cinema, We had a starter to share, very nice, then mains I had the gammon cooked to perfection, my son had the biggest burger I,ve ever seen again it was cooked really well, they were very prompt and the customer service was very good, Well done, won't be long before we book again.

Another lovely Sunday lunch at a nice pub with friendly staff. On this occasion my food wasn’t as hot as I would have liked it but it was still enjoyable.

We had lunch recently. the food was cooked to order and was delicious. The service was very good but the downside was that the inside of the building is in need of an urgent and major refit. We found all of the carpets and fittings to be tired and worn with a moth-eaten stags head hanging on the wall! I don't know what kind of ambiance the brewery are trying to create with this decor, but the modern restaurant eater requires better.

Went for dinner with the family last week, everything was great; food, beer, staff. Great choice for the vegetarian dad and a great burger for me. We normally visit for a pint with the dog as the are the most friendly dog pub we’ve found.

Had a lovely lunch on Fathers Day. Staff are polite and friendly, efficient service and a lovely characteristic pub! Billy burger is tasty, one of the better burgers we’ve had and the Sunday lunches looked lovely.

Went for Sunday Dinner, which is without doubt the best in Hinckley. The service, food and atmosphere were exceptional. As always the staff were attentive, helpful and went out of their way to make sure that the visit was as good as it could be. We were looked after by Ella, who made sure our drinks never run dry and we had all we needed.

An amazing Sunday Lunch at a lovely, friendly local pub, it’s lovely to eat out again. Pub followed all required guidelines and were welcoming and friendly, the food was lovely, just wish I had a larger appetite.

The welcome was excellent along with the service considering the challenging work environment they are having to deal with but this did not detract at all from the quality of the food which was superb.

The pub has great Covid procedures in place. The staff were very efficient and good range of beers and gins. The food arrived in good time, was hot and tasty.There was a little lack of atmosphere although there were quite a few in. The bottom areas were in darkness, yet in our dining room there were stacked chairs- one would have thought the management would have made the open areas feel as normal as they could.Still a great pub

Went here last week for Sunday dinner. Ordered 2 roast beef dinners. £11.45 each which is a bit steap as the food was OK but nothing special. The interior is a bit hit and miss with the furnishings and decor, not as nice as the other steaming Billy's in town. Don't think I would return.

Visited for an early evening meal which was again top drawer. Adam and the team provide a great atmosphere in a cracking traditional pub. The food of chicken salads and burgers was cooked perfectly. If you haven't been here yet or recently, why not?!

I would not recommend this place at all, me and a family member visited 26/07/2020 for a Sunday roast, on arrival we were told that there wasn’t any Sunday roasts left? We arrived at 2pm yet there supposed to serve this until 4pm?. So we decided to ordered something else of the menu, my family member order mushroom and Brie wellington which had nuts in, this wasn’t made aware on the menu so couldn’t be eaten. I decided to buy her a dessert as she couldn’t eat her meal, dessert was paid for and so we sat waiting, a waitress came and told us there wasn’t any of what we ordered left again! So went and got a refund for the dessert. The waitress also was not the most welcoming either.

Visited with friends who live locally for an impromptu early dinner. The pub itself is lovely with a charming 'traditional pub' look and decor and it had a warm and friebdly atmosphere. It is dog friendly (which is a plus for me) and appeared to be throughout, so for those who may not be accepting of this, worth bearing in mind. We didn't book, but were found a table (there were 5 of us) and given a decent time limit before they needed the table again. The menu is small but well formed with classics of pub fayre. The specials were in line with PIE week and most of us ate from this menu. I chose the chicken pie and it was delicious. A proper encased pie with a lovely filling. The veg and mash were fresh and cooked well. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. There was no room for dessert for me but other chose puddings which were also well received. The whole party commented on how good the food was. Myself and my partner both being chefs rarely get to eat out on a saturday evening so this ws a real treat. Proper well cooked food in a lovely environment.A lovely gesture of a candle in cheesecke for our friend for her birthday was a lovely surprise. Good food and beer in a nice environment, we will be back when we are in the area.

The perfect location of The Railway Steamin Billy is ideal for a post match meal after a train trip to see the Leicester Tigers play. Booking was easy on line and, because of the size of my group (17), pre-ordering meant that the excellent meals were ready in no time once we had arrived. Courteous staff, good value for money all in comfortable environment makes a visit to The Station a pleasure.

Visited last Friday evening with a friend for food and drinks.Booked in advance in case it was busy, and glad we did as by 8.30 it was busy.Menu is very varied, something for everyone, I had Gammon Steak and my friend had a mushroom and halloumi burger, both of which were large portions, well presented and extremely tasty meals. Couldn’t fault anything which in this day and age is a rarity!The service from staff is efficient and professional and the atmosphere both in the restaurant and in the main pub is friendly and welcoming.I recommend this pub to families or couples old and young, as for a small town, it’s a hidden gem.

The Railway is quite simply the best pub in Hinckley. They have the perfect mix of great food, great drinks, great staff, great people and great dogs (well, they don’t actually belong to the pub but are always made to feel very welcome and are given a biscuit or two). What more could you want? I regularly meet friends for a drink or dinner and have also had a couple of events in the bar area over the last 18 months. Always 5⭐️. I've been to The Railway before and as I have enjoyed having a meal there I decided to take some of my friends for a meal. Their home made pies are really good. Very tasty. I have a discount card that gives me 10%off the bill. The card only costs£1.00 and lasts a life time. We were all happy with our meals and my friends will be going again.

Good range of drinks and good selection of food on the menu Food was good the only minor detail for the 4 of us was the batter was soggy on the fish although everything else was good hot and tasty The cottage pie and liver were excellent

Visited with a party of 15, didn’t really want the Xmas menu but told that’s all they could do. Food was pretty poor to be honest although we have been before and would rate it higher at previous visits. Pretty tasteless and unappealing, beef was more like corned beef and people who had turkey said it was very dry. Last orders at 11.00 pm and were told we had to be out for 11.15 thought this a bit early for a Saturday night over Christmas.

Get the Sunday roast but make sure you starve yourself before hand has the amount of food is brilliant. Good beers on tap, nice decor and ambience, food good

The yardstick of any restaurant has to be the quality and presentation of the food, closely followed by the friendliness, courtesy and efficiency of the staff and in all these areas Steamin Billy's Railway gets five stars. Just one suggestion the decor and heating in the main restaurant area (ex conservatory) could be better. The "shabby chic" looks a bit too shabby and the constant stream of smokers popping in and out for a fag ensures an icy blast to a room that is not warm to start with. In every other respect a great pub with even better food and lovely staff.

Went on a Friday night, was busy with Xmas partys but service was still good. Had the 'dogs' burger which was massive and lovely. Also had 2 pints of there own beers which were both good

As always never disappointed with the food and the service. I recommend this place all the time to my friends and family. Great atmosphere, great food what more can you ask for. Had the shop's Christmas meal here this weekend & we weren't disappointed. Good variety of dishes for all courses & the food was well presented & served by friendly, courteous staff. Pleasant dining environment with some unusual items on display. Only a few minor issues with the food, notably the vegetables, which were not just al dente but closer to undercooked. Overall a good experience & a cracking pint of Billy!

This is one of mine and my fella's top rated places to eat in Hinckley. The food is always really good! However we recently visited on a Sunday and were slightly underwhelmed by the experience. My partner had the roast with the choice of three meats, he was expecting a nice portion of each meat. His comments were something along the lines of 'they've just piled a million potatoes on my plate'. I had the haddock filet with new potatoes, which wouldn't be a normal choice for me but I didn't fancy a roast. Haddock was okay, slightly bland, could have been seasoned better. All in all, we do really like it here for mid-week cheap eats & a nice selection of bevvy's. However we won't be returning for food on a Sunday.

I went to have meal with my father to celebrate how well things are going at uni. I was very satisfied with the service and the amount of head I had on my beers (which I have to thank Tom Upton for, whomst also gave me a friendly (?) wink every time he walked up and down the restaurant. Brilliant!

I visit the railway on a number of occasions and I can honestly say I have never experienced a bad meal or never been unwelcome with the staff. They have great staff, great food and it’s a great atmosphere.

We often eat at this pub when visiting my father as it is not far from where he lives. The staff are always friendly the service is quick and the food is always freshly cooked and there is a good menu and lots of choice. Would highly recommended if you want a good pub meal in a friendly pub - nice warm atmosphere

Absolutely fabulous meal from Pete and the team. Perfectly cooked steak and really tasty vegetarian Wellington from the new menu. And to top it off a delightful pudding in the Apple strudel. Thanks to all.

First visit to a steamin Billy pub , car park a little small but did manage to squeeze in . Went to the bar & said we had a table booked & a very pleasant young lady asked what drinks we wanted & she would show us to our table .We ordered Chicken burgers with sweet potato fries ( £1 supplement ) for £10.95 food arrived quite quickly & was cooked perfectly & very tasty followed by white chocolate & strawberry cheesecake £5.95 which tasted amazing . All together a very nice night & will visit again .

We always love to use the Railway pub as we do like to take alf the dog with us and we are made very welcome and the food is amazing always. Highly recommend. Wonderfull.

The beefburgers were delicious and definitely home made. My chicken and avocado salad was so fresh and tasty, one of the best salads I have had amongst the many hostelries we have visited. Great food and atmosphere. Will be back.

Visited for lunch with husband and mother in law. We had reserved and they were expecting us. The staff, behind the bar and the waiting staff were very friendly and helpful. We were able to choose where we wanted to sit and which table we wanted. The menu was varied with enough choice to satisfy us all. There was a good choice of house wine including a New Zealand Sauvignon which was reasonably priced.
