This is a great spot for a casual night out alone or with friends! The drinks were great! The bartender was charming and the atmosphere was relaxing. It’s also a very friendly environment. I went for a solo night out and ended up making some new friends before I left. Overall, it was a great experience!

During my trip to attend a symposium in town, my traveling companion and I had the opportunity to meet up with another friend who had opted for a hotel instead of an Airbnb. We found ourselves at a charming bar nestled within the lobby of the Hilton Paddington. Over the course of two separate days, we convened downstairs for some refreshing drinks. It was there that we encountered Abdullah, a truly exceptional bartender who knew exactly how to cater to the needs of three Asian women from America. His skills in mixology were truly remarkable, providing us with amazing drinks and impeccable service. Needless to say, the atmosphere passed the vibe check with flying colors. Those moments we spent together were nothing short of delightful, and I already find myself yearning for their return. If you ever find yourself in need of a fantastic late-night bar experience in Kensington, this is the place to be. Here, you can engage in intimate conversations without the need to raise your voice amidst the clamor of a noisy pub. It's the perfect spot to unwind after a long day of exploring, and you can even top off your evening with a well-crafted nightcap. Plus, the conveniently located bathrooms in the lobby add an extra layer of convenience to the experience. A five-star experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great experience probably one of the best mixologist if not the best in london. The bar is at the Hilton hotel so very central and especially if you are taking a train like me and waiting this is an amazing place to chill.

The drinks were amazing, but this because the bartenders have years and years of experience. It is a nice and quiet place. The managers Girts and Dimitris are the loveliest people you can ever have a conversation while drinking. Way suggested if you’re nearby!

I really love this place. The barman was amazing and do the best cocktails. I really recommend this place for a nice evening with friends and to drink very good cocktails.

I have visited this bar and asked in advance minimum spending is £10.00 per hours . Its radiculios people go on bar to relax and have one drink . I can not believe hotel like Hilton they have these kind of policy . Staff was keep annoying me and ask to buy more drink . My whole experience was so bad . I will never visit this bar and complain to the hilton head office , how you can have this ridiculous policy in ur bar . That's by bar is not busy , bad customer service plus these kind of stupid policy .

Had two meals in the restaurant, both ok, nice bar, reasonable price, good friendly staff, would eat there again

Good afternoon tea with nice service and good food. Not one of the most well-known in London but does the job!

Very overpriced: a cup of hot tea is 5£ 50...you can get Cream tea with a few scones at Fortnum & Mason's elegant Tea Room for 6£ 50! Just across the way you can get a full English breakfast for 5£ 50 at any number of restaurants and cafes. The wait staff practices studied indifference to the patrons: we waited 45 minutes for our insolent waitress to recognize us and then had to wait another 45 minutes for her to give us the bill. We complained to the hard to find Hotel manager and he verified our complaint and then offered his apologies and gave us a complete refund of the charges...from the behavior of the restaurant manager it did not seem that this was the first time this type of behavior and price gouging was brought to his attention. If you want to have a decent tea, go to Fortnum & Masons or Harrods...pleasant decor, delightful staff and fair pricing + the food is very, very good. Enough said.

If you enjoy a studied indifference from the wait staff, mediocre food at premium (make that exorbitant) prices then this is for you.

We were staying at the Hilton Paddington and decided on a whim to get afternoon tea at 146. The staff was prompt and friendly, and the venue is perfect (flowers on the wall, home-y seating, street view featuring the red double-decker busses- perfectly London-esque). We had no complaints about the food...the avocado crostini was by far a favorite though. Definitely a good place to stop by if you are craving your must-do-bucket-list London tea or even just a light treat. Family friendly but still a peaceful haven for adults. Also it was the same price as a more well known tea place we also went to, but we found this one to be a much more enjoyable atmosphere and menu.

Went there for afternoon tea on Saturday. Plenty to eat and very reasonable price. The staff were very attentive. Can not fault anything

I joined a networking event last Friday (15th March), received an excellent service from the bartenders and couple of pleasant chats with them and in general the all environment.

We visited here to celebrate my friend's birthday. The staff Riecardo Luciano provided super nice service and a special birthday cake for my friend's birthday. We experienced impressive birthday. Highly recommend every one come here.

Didn't stay at the hotel but traveled from Paddington station. Very nice, new interior and friendly service from Viktor and Riccardo. Good selection of spirits and craft beers. They make all classic cocktails even if it is not in the menu. We had quick tapas, quesadillas were great and recommended. We will be back when next in London.

Good ambiance, Nice spot for an afternoon coffee with friends. Luciano the server was really polite and helpful. Efficient and personal service. He even overheard me say that I liked the little biscuit that came with the coffee. Next thing I knew, he brought over a few extra ones. Attention to detail! Loved it. Small gestures go a long way.

Perfect for informal meetings in a great location. Decor has improved since we started using the bar but it has always been welcoming with great staff. Luciano today has been particularly good and supportive.

Located in the Hilton Paddington hotel I discovered this bar by accident about 6 months ago. Every time I come here the staff are great, the atmosphere is exactly what I like and it’s always clean and well looked after. Thanks Luciano for being attentive!

Luciano was a brilliant host, greeted us and found us seats at the bar. Talked to us about our stay and business and took an interest in what we were saying.

What a great place. 146 has a nice vibe, lovely interior and is also very comfortable. There is a nice view of paddington high street to look out on while you enjoy a drink or something to eat. 146 is defiantly one of my favourite places to go in London and the staff are very friendly. Was here with 4 other business colleagues for 4.5 hours. Good venue for meeting and lunch. Food was decent and very good service. Teas were expensive. Would use again though.

I have to give credit to this place for re-introducing me to gin. I asked for a gin and tonic from something local. I was amazed at the taste. So much so, that I asked the server about the gin. He didn't know, but he went to ask the bartender and instead of giving a generic answer, the bartender came over showed me the bottle they used and explained a bit about the gin. Drinks - check, Service - check.

Los asientos son un poco blandos, por lo que a los "viejos" como a mí les resulta difícil salir de las sillas de poca altura. This place is billed as a transport inspired location, in reality all you get is a could of suitcases on stands as you enter the restaurant and that's where is stops.

On our visit, the Afternoon Tea was distinctly mediocre. The entire savoury part of the tea tasted as if it had been prepared the day before, and spent the night in the fridge. The bagel and mini-bun tasted dry and stale, (the 'brioche' mini-bun showed no evidence of egg in the baking), the finger sandwiches were soggy, and the grey and tasteless bits of alleged beef were the stuff of nightmares.

Great place to stay if you’re catching the Heathrow Express. I usually stay in one of the hotels near the airport. But this was a better idea. Literally 5 minutes walk from Paddington station, so very easy for me to walk with my luggage and carry on.

Had an absolute blast at the 146 bar! Juan knew what he was doing behind the bar - the gin cocktails are out of this world. Constant and attentive service to our table from William made the night complete. Definitely would return!!

This used to be a bar/nightclub. I was devastated when I realised now changed. I liked the bar. Service was a bit abrupt and not what I’d expect from a hotel of this status. They also don’t cater for breakfast. Won’t rush back now.

Have come in here for time to time over the years but yesterday discovered it has been given a 'makeover' and is rebranded as '146' resulting in it completely losing the plot. Given that this was 'Thirsty Thursday' in London town - they had put on a DJ who was being completely ignored and was playing music nobody was remotely interested in neither did it add to the atmosphere - better to get in a pianist for the piano left unattended! It was not poorly frequented - when we left there at 7.30 were only 4 others left in the place and had not been busier for the hour, or so, earlier. Compare this to 'The Luggage Room' in London which I reviewed earlier this year - this is how to get an early (or late) evening venue too work well - sadly '146', or whatever it is called, does not and others seem to be thinking likewise by not being there! Somebody needs to rethink this place - what it is, who it serves, and how to pitch it, as currently none of this works! Ending on a positive, the staff were quite pleasant.

I'm not sure if the steam bar is part of the Hilton or not. It is accessed through the Hilton lobby. The drinks are ok, I found the place a bit loud, but others call that lively.

Definitely more of a late night club bar, pity because there was several guest who walked in and walked out straight away. Maybe the hotel should look at making a more quieter bar somewhere in the hotel?

Servicio inexistente, mala actitud. Comida bien presentada pero caro y escaso. El personal debería pasar más tiempo en el servicio de atención al cliente y menos tiempo charlando entre sí. Una sonrisa puede ir un largo camino y no sólo al final, cuando esperaba una propina. Estamos bien basculadores como estamos en la industria de nosotros mismos, pero nada de nosotros.

The quality of drinks is pretty good but the staff are preoccupied with talking between themselves. They are unobservant and unresponsive. One would not want to be in a hurry.

This bar has seen many little changes. Its nice to pop in but the local pubs are better. The weekends are a little exclusive.... Best to avoid Friday to Monday!

Sadly the Steam Bar has nothing that evokes the romanic age of steam. Unless formica, faux leather, flashing neon lights, and TVs showing Sky adverts on repeat somehow remind you of the Flying Scotsman or Orient Express? It is impossible to order a drink at the bar, and you are charged an additional 10% service charge. Minimum spends and card charges apply as well. Avoid and walk across the road to one of the local pubs. Hilton should be ashamed of this steaming mess.

The last three times I've stayed at the Hilton Paddington (where this bar is situated) it has been quite a task trying to get entry into the steam bar. The hotel clearly hire out the bar for private functions regularly to generate income. This means for paying hotel guests you can really struggle to get in. I appreciate the challenge though and have almost demanded entry however to be fair when I stayed last week there was nothing going on in the bar so entry was easy. We were one of only 3 tables in the bar and there was 4 of us. Didn't make for good service though, bar staff were professional but not friendly or polite. They did their job though. Not a lot of atmosphere. I don't think you'd pick to drink here unless a resident in the hotel.

Part of the Hilton hotel so you expect a standard. This was a little dingy. Stopped off to meet a colleague for a quick drink. Don't expect to get 10% service charge for Ordering a drink over the bar. This is the first time I have ever had that experience. It's wrong!!! Think again Hilton. No wonder the place was empty. I would find a more pleasant place to enjoy a drink

Might not sound fair for many to rate the whole hotel based only on a bar experience but to someone who works for the industry for more than 8 years it is considered a very valued reason. I went to the Stem bar due to it's location as I had a meeting with my friend after work. My only expectation was to have a nice coffee while waiting in a nice bar and service as it is a Hilton brand end if the day right? Well I was wrong from the beginning. Just to start when I arrived no one welcomed or noticed me for quite a while. Ones a water called Johnny or John ? arrived. I was asked in a very unpleasant almost rude way: what do I want. I only asked for coffee. The answer again short , almost annoyed and arrogant :no, we don't have it. Well I answered it's on the menu, answer only till 5pm. Which is not stated anywhere on the menu,guess because the coffee machine was cleaned already they didn't want the hassle again. Very disappointedly ordered a glass of soft drink instead.The reaction very rudely do I pay now or open a tab ? Handing my card to him he said don't you have cash? Minimum charge is £ 5.00 again nowhere to be found as an information. This arrogant, unfriendly service from such a name as Hilton is unacceptable , learned my lesson never go for there again better off with sturbacks or costa next time. Not ever as a guest after such experience in the bar. Thank you..Very disappointed, shame on your bar staff , customs service clearly failed

I have been to steam bar Paddington Hilton , I have been told by manger you are not spending much in this bar so you have to leave the bar and you been here 3 hrs as I had 4 pint of beers in these time of period . he even told me its head office instruction to tell the guest go out if they don't spend much . I love Hilton as it known for service but this kind of rudeness shows their service standard.

The Hilton is used for a lot of business meetings, and rapidly fills up the small number of tables in its foyer. The Steam Bar makes for a decent overflow space - but only for meetings. Would hate to try and have a fun social meet up here, as it is just so uninviting. However, service is good and the coffee is well made.

Bar area is quite dark, not very comfortably laid out. Poor selection on drinks. For example they only had a few lagers and not one beer/ale. I bought a drink but decided to leave before finishing it. Bar staff was friendly.

Great place to sit down and plan your attack of London over a pint or 2. The staff is more like a usual UK pub staff than your normal ambivalent hotel bar staff.

Twice now over a period of I think six months the Steam bar has tried to overcharge. When challenged they say "prices in the menus on the tables are out of date and we are waiting for the new ones". The first time they overcharged the explanation was plausible even if ridiculous. Coming back after several months and having the same experience makes you wonder what is indeed going on.The bar itself is fine, as is the service.

Bar was tucked away off lobby and not well lit or staffed. Not worthy of being in a Hilton property.

Steam Bar is a bit of a strange place. Well located in the Hilton at Paddington, one would expect it would draw large crowds from hotel guests, travellers and tourists in general. However this place is almost always empty. I have visited more than 5 times in the past 12 months and it's always the same story: bored looking staff and a few customers. The bar staff are average at best (I refer to their drink mixing capacities here) and the space is dark & a bit tired. All in all, I must confess that this bar has served me well - for meetings & passing time in transit, but I always eave feeling that t could be so much more......

Very attractive bar indeed and a great place to meet near paddington station. Wine list alas not good - my Tempranillo not worth drinking and the other two reds on offer not much better. Pity cos its a great little bar.

Needing a place for drinks, we tried this bar in our hotel. A reasonably large and dark room, there were only a few people there, all seated at the counter. With six of us, we sat at a table. Service was acceptable, although the bar was out of several Scotch whiskies listed on the menu card - something we found unacceptable at a major hotel and especially with a liquor store nearby.The ambiance was dated and needed updating. The seating areas had some funky red and blue lighting under the sofas. Obviously the hotel owners are avoiding some needed investment.

Always seems to be hived off for private parties every weekend I have stayed at the Hotel and therefore not very good for residents paying for a hotel with bar facilities.

Was probably once very nice but the decor is awful and in need of replacement, the seats are ripped.

Over priced, like typical London Hotels but more so because it's close to Olympics in summer 2012
