Went here today for my birthday Food and service was amazing 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I came here tonight for a meal for my birthday, it's the first time I've ever been here but it definitely will not be the last. The service was excellent and friendly, the food was fresh and delicious, I had a steak and it was cooked perfectly. I would definitely recommend and I will certainly be going back. Thank you to all the staff for making my birthday meal special, I was very anxious at the start because I was somewhere different but you want above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Thank you for making it a pleasant experience.

Our waitor Joe was very friendly and dealt with my challenging relative with high standards of professionalism and respect. Joe was very patient, and nothing was too much trouble.

10 out of 10! Amazing all around, the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Food (we had a Sunday roast) was delicious and for such a great reasonable price. I've only ever heard good things about Steak & Omelette but I'd never been myself. Glad I've now been and can also tell others to go there and taste great food.

We visited for a busy Saturday lunch without a reservation. It was busy but they managed to fit us in and both the service and food was excellent. We had two fillet steaks and chips with a carafe of wine. Excellent food.

Been a while since we made it there, but we had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch. The food was excellent as always, but it’s the service that was the most enjoyable by far. He will know who he is didn’t get his name but thank you for the “private dancer” 😂😂

My daughter booked a table for us, prior to treating me to an evening at the theatre. The menu is quite extensive and isn't JUST steak and omelettes! We both had Moussaka and Greek salad which was delicious. My daughter had cheesecake for dessert and I chose the sticky toffee pudding. To my delight, it was PROPER sticky toffee pudding and NOT just brown sponge and toffee sauce! Most of their deserts, as well as the main courses are are made on the premises. The service is phenomenal! You are not treated as just another "bum on a seat", you are treated as someone who is special and your personal satisfaction is of the utmost importance! I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant if you are looking for excellent service, delicious food and, in my opinion, value for money. Thanks guys, next time I'm in Plymouth, I'll DEFINITELY be back!

Bit noisy but incredible food and great service

Fantastic food, a regular of ours. Just been tonight and it was amazing food and service as always.

Absolutely fantastic. The staff are super helpful and friendly. We booked in advance, and they were able to accommodate a wheelchair easily. It isn't cheap, but it's worth every penny.

Hi we had our 5th visit since Cofid hit the World.This establishment gave us value for our money the lunch was superb and all food piping hot and staff attentive. This place is comfortable and with very smart surroundings it's a pleasure to dine here will call back again soon.

Was treated to a lunch here with work for my birthday - it was SO good. Amazing steak, sides were great, service was faultless, staff are friendly/helpful/polite and the general atmosphere is awesome - really impressed and will certainly be going back!

Been coming here for more years than I care to remember but last two visits very disappointing and sorry but will not be returning.

Amazing staff, relaxed atmosphere. Food absolutely amazing. Can really recommend the fudge cake and fish of the day. Chips and peas come out on separate plates so you can have as little or as much as you like

Firstly, the venue was warm, welcoming and beautiful. We had the great pleasure of being served by Spencer who was incredibly gracious and gave that extra ounce of care throughout our meal. Our steaks were delicious, as were the chips! One of the best dining experiences me and my partner have had. It's refreshing to see a restaurant that has competent adult waiters/waitresses that genuinely care about the customers approval and happiness. Couldn't be happier with our first visit to the Steak and Omelette, and certainly won't be our last!

Waiter staff very good and friendly. Issue with some mains which they tried best but looked like they were overuled by manager who came across very poorly saying he tried the mains and no issue.

We went for a nice evening out. Two of us ordered the porterhouse, a £36 steak. We ordered surf and turf, a sauce and a Greek salad to accompany. The steak came out cooked as we wanted, but it was very tough. We told the waiter who took both steaks away. We were then represented with our original steaks again by the owner, who offered us to try our steaks again. I’m not sure what was worse, the fact he represented our original steak cut into tiny bits, or the fact he’d told us he had tried some of it. Safely say I won’t be eating here again, and unless you want to share your steak with the owner, I suggest you don’t either. It is a shame, it used to be a really good steak house.

Went with my husband for a meal a couple of months ago. The restaurant was busy but the service was excellent. My husband has porterhouse steak and I had the lamb which fell off the bone. Amazing meal will definitely be back

This is my favourite restaurant. The staff are friendly and chatty. The ambience and atmosphere are Top notch. The food is really good at more than reasonable prices. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff. You can easily have a chat with the Chef in person, as he is totally visible, just incase you have particular nutritional requirements. We have always had superb meals and good chatter with the staff. Their Tips are well deserved.

I recently had dinner at The Steak and Omelette and it was fantastic, as always. The ambiance was cosy and welcoming, and the service was great. I ordered the porterhouse steak with greek salad and my partner had the T-bone steak, both were cooked to perfection. The flavour was outstanding and the portion size, generous. The presentation of the dishes was impressive and the staff was attentive and friendly.

Mushroom omelette was just eggs with hardly any mushrooms

The chefs here really know what they are doing. The T-bone steaks were cooked to perfection. If you haven't tried them, I highly recommend Als Onions as a side to your steak... stunning.

Great place, the waiters were knowledgeable and entertaining, food was great, and the dining room was just a little too dark. We had a party of 7 and we enjoyed the evening.

Me and my boyfriend came here for lunch for my birthday and absolutely loved the food! He said his burger was one of the best he’s ever had and my ribeye with Diane sauce was just amazing :) really good crème brûlée for dessert as well. Great service from the two guys working that day. We will definitely return!

WeThought we would give this place another chance considering we won tickets on a raffle,we now wish we hadn't entered. Still as bad with food cold under cooked over cooked or non existent..Absolute spithole with rood staff and even worse greedy owner managers,never again.I would rather eat the contents off the KFC bins.

The steak was excellent, i had a porterhouse medium rare.

Had a roast there the meat was all fatty I couldn't eat the rest the staff are great not sure if I'll ever go back

Honest review as always. First impressions, busy, clean, nice atmosphere. Friendly staff, menu varied so there was choice for all of us. The food was delicious. Steak cooked to perfection. Was on the pricey side however - your paying for quality tasting food.

15 of us went for a Birthday party. Travelled down to London specifically to come here - need I say more.

First time visiting here. White bait starter was delicious in a light batter and spicy sweet chilli sauce. 7oz sirloin steak with stilton sauce for main, steak melts in your mouth and cooked perfectly, chips are like chippy ones and taste yummy. Had Spanish omelette which was great. Profiteroles for desert was incredible, soft cream inside with lots of chocolate sauce. They serve non alcoholic corona with lime which I will defo have again. About the same price as other steak houses in Plymouth. Will definitely go again. Service with a smile.

Came into the restaurant greated by a very polite man by the name of joseph who show us to are sets and came back to to ask us for are meals I had a fry up the meals were fast to come out and it tasted amazing

We visited the Steak and Omelette for a pre theatre lunch. We ordered a t-bone and a fillet with some extra sides all cooked perfectly. The truffle and Parmesan chips were a big hit. We ordered dessert, the banoffee pie hadn’t set properly but still tasted lovely. The team were brilliant and gave us excellent service.

We enjoyed a lovely family meal here. Four adults and four kids ages 8, 9, 11 and 14. Great service, delicious food, friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere. Highly recommended.

I went on Saturday and I had the best steak I have ever had. You can go and select your steak. I had the halloumi fries to start they were delicious. The deserts were banging. Lovely staff. Highly recommend. Family friendly.

I had the Reb eye which was probably one of the best steaks I had, was really good. Kids had kids size steak, was a little bit overdone but was still good. For someone that come from London, The beer was really cheap. Food came very fast. Would definitely recommend The main thing is the meat that was very very good.

Forget the chains, come to Steak and Omelette for the best steak in town. Unpretentious, brilliant value for money, top wines and proper service from Spencer. I cannot fault.

Been going here for many years and S&O still delivers great Steaks that just ooze quality. No other Steakhouse in Plymouth comes remotely close in truth.

Been going every Sunday for the last couple of months, and WOW!!! The Sunday roast is amazing 👌 Every week without fail the quality of the food stays the same. The best beef I’ve ever had. And the Yorkshire puds are something else The staff are second to none and it’s well worth a visit, highly recommend 10/10 ❤️

Popped in for lunch with Mum as used to frequent this restaurant a lot, I couldn't believe how much its gone downhill, service was mediocre at best and when issues were raised at end of meal, the waitress. Couldn't care less, getting the bill and just throwing it on the table, my mums chips that used to be a highlight were insipid and limp, my sautéed potatoes were overcooked and inedible, but the crowning glory was the chicken salad that had so much oil on the lettuce was terrible. Very disappointed,

Visited here for lunch whilst visiting Plymouth. Walked in during lunch hours without booking and were able to get a table. Large menu choice catering for everyone. Food was served very quick and was delicious. Staff were very welcoming & friendly.

2nd visit. First time I had the Portehouse steak that was tasteless and tough. 6 months later, and stuck for a good restaurant in Plymouth, I was advised to try again. Spaghetti bolegnaise. One again, absolutely no taste. Added salt and pepper. Still flavourless. Sorry guys. Your service is great, the place is way too loud. Too many families with screaming kids and parties. I want ni e quite romantic atmosphere with tastey food. I don't want an overly expensive McDonalds. Don't worry guys, the loss of me will not impact anything.

Haven't been here in years, so I decided to nip in and have some lunch. The service was fantastic, but unfortunately, the food was not upto scratch. Small portions and quality was not great. Its a shame because I remember the food was amazing going back in the 90s

Great menu for steak lovers with good list of wines to pair with. Steak and food portions were generous and the cuts were good (no sinews, good taste overall). The doneness were also exactly what was requested. The thick cut chips paired well with the steak and omelettes. Only let down was the sear/char on the steaks which was a little over done, that coupled with my choice of cheese and bacon omelette made things a little harder to go down.

Really friendly service, inside and outside dining. The calamari was tender with a lovely batter, the sauce for the prawn meunière was outstanding, delicious home made bread, excellent quality steak (especially the ribeye), and omelette, tasty sauces and plenty of chips!

Booked a table Saturday evening, was fairly busy but hats off to all the staff they were amazing especially the waiter Russell, nothing was too much for him and definitely amazing. The food was outstanding the steak was cooked to perfection and the cheesecake was a massive hit, well done and thank you to the chefs that were working you are all amazing. A group of us dined here yesterday evening for a birthday celebration. Everything was cooked to order very fresh tasty and delicious.

Fabulous menu, Fabulous food, fabulous service. The steaks were of really good quality and the fish couldn't have been any fresher. The cabbage and bacon side was an unexpected highlight. The waiters are so friendly and engaged in what they do it creates a really welcoming atmosphere. I can't wait until our next visit.

One of the oldest restaurants in the centre of Plymouth. Excellent food,staff and atmosphere. The fact it's been in the same premises for over 50years speaks for itself. Highly recommended.

We visited on Sunday for a birthday meal, and were blown away. I haven't been here for 30+ years. But I can safely say, we'll be back a lot in the future. The service was the best we've ever had in a restaurant in Plymouth - outstanding. People that really care about you having a good time, about the food being exactly what you want it to be, and that you don't leave wishing that you'd had a better experience. Didn't feel rushed - we could take our time and just enjoy ourselves. The food was superb as well - cooked really well, full of taste. We'll definitely be back soon.

The content of the pie was lovely - tender and tasty. However, the crust wasn't perfect - with inconsistent thickness and therefore texture.

Use to visit the steak & omelette many years ago. So recently visited after a long absence. Delighted to find the quality of the food and standard of the service hasn't changed a bit. Will be visiting again soon.

Great place for a meal. Medium rare was actually medium rare, cracking.

Had an early evening table for Mothers Day, on arrival the restaurant was pretty full, we were shown promptly to our table, which doesn't always happen in general as I'm in a wheelchair. Staff were very friendly and efficient, food was swift for it being so busy, and everything was very tasty, highlights were mums roast chicken and the garlic mushrooms which were perfect! Will definitely be back, thank you so mych to all!
