Everyone had an absolute blast at the party on Saturday night. Everyone commented on how lovely The Barn was and the amazing pizzas!! Big thanks to Joe and the team for helping us with all the arrangements we would highly recommend!

Always love visit Starling, either as a couple or with the kids as well. Starling is incredibly family friendly and the staff can never do too much to help us out. The baby change facilities are great too. Always a bonus having a family friendly venue that serves a great beer!

This is a great little pub except for an experience at Sunday's Quiz Night, where we were sat at the only available table with was directly beneath a speaker. After many mic issues, one of which feedbacking into a screech that genuinely hurt my ears, it got on the roll. But the music was simply too loud. I asked a bartender if we could get it turned down just a tad, but he said they're all the same volume. Regardless of who is sitting underneath that speaker can't be having a good time with music being played so loud it was difficult to have a conversation, even more so when trying to participate in the pub quiz. Also, the music was just really bad and not at all fitting the vibe either. After "shazamming" a few of the songs, I saw that they were obscure grungey alt rock songs, most of which had been Shazammed 0-5 times, which goes to show who has ever heard these songs and said "I just HAVE to know what this amazing song is!". Next time, maybe settle for some approachable music rather than "Legal Snare In A Therapist's Chair", and rethink either the volume of your speakers or don't put a wealth of seating underneath them.

OK little bar. Beer good and friendly staff. Don't take cash which I really don't like. Won't have this on my list of go to places for this reason

Great and friendly venue. We held our Xmas party here and the team were amazing and looked after us for the whole evening. Good food and good beer!

First time visit for drinks with friends. Beautifully decorated inside and had a lovely ambience. Staff were attentive and friendly. Was very busy when we visited but managed to find some seating. Had a quick peak at the menu and will definitely return for food.

I wanted to like this place, however after coming for the first time we had a very average experience. Not a lot of seating, the lighting was way too much and the general ambiance was very weird. Not too sure I'll return.

A lunchtime visit for a pint and a bite to eat. Great selection of beer and good service. Roomy with large tables and seating on different levels. Varied menu to cover all tastes. Would recommend the Shakshuka, it was excellent.

My fault but didn't see the sign on the door saying card only. Cash is king in my books. Clean and friendly place and exceptionally dog friendly. But I ordered smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on gluten free toast. The toast was un buttered and of very poor quality. Also my partners toast with his full English breakfast was rock hard. I asked for cheese on toast for my dog but they said they didn't do it, so I ordered 2 slices of toast for him which was un buttered and rock hard at the cost of £2. Totally over priced and of poor quality. This was very disappointing as it's a lovely little place.

It was nice to be able to talk and not have to shout over loud music. The music was nice but in the background. I just loved the atmosphere and the feel of the place. And we had a fantastic lunch 😋

Whilst working in Harrogate I have a wander round the night before and stumbled across the Starling. I ordered a beer and one of their Pizzas, the beer was spot on on the pizza was superb. Turns out Sunday night is quiz night, hosted by Dan. What a great night, brilliant atmosphere, great host with a great sense of humour. The Starling has a good choice of beers, all tasting well kept, great tasting pizzas. Will definitely return here!!!

A great bar/cafe. Friendly staff, good food and reasonably priced. Suitable for families or just adults. There's always a good selection of guest ales available too, so that's a bonus!

Girl behind bar gave us the stink-eye for most of our time there, clearly shes got some sort of attitude problem, she needs to shave her neck and they need to put some art up cos the walls are a bit bare

Lovely bar, I really can't fault it. We only stayed for a couple of beers and some food but really enjoyed it. We'll return if we stay over in Harrogate in the near future. Thanks

This CAMRA BAR is a micro style pub on 2 floors in the centre of Harrogate This pub has a tranquil style and feel inside and has got 6 hand pumped ales on I visited this micro on the 21st of October 2020 and was impressed with the bar staffs politeness and how helpful they were Saturday 23rd March 2024 We again came to this marvellous Real ALE Micro pub This pub served yet again a terrific range Of hand pumped ales the clientelle are locals the landlord knows his onions on real ales as he is a camera member. This pub is an excellent real ale pub in Harrogate Saturday 28th September 2024 This pub is a must to visit for real ale drinkers when in Harrogate Read the last review as nothing has changed at all This is a pub great owners/ staff plethora of handpumped ales on and a comfortable interior drinking areas where to drink

Yeah good pub. Nice and clean. Staff nice. Only downside is price of drinks. It's expensive everywhere but a £10 pint (albeit a very good craft IPA) is a little bit steep don't you think. Apart from that, all good

Really great place to meet for a drink and/or food. Staff are always friendly. There's always plenty of space including a really pretty outside area.

It was Sunday the 1st we came and we sat upstairs. The service was atrocious! We waited for 40 minutes to be served by a waitress (who cleared our table as we sat down so she knew how long we had been waiting, not even bothering to wipe off the tea stains and crumbs left by the previous customers) and received no apology for the wait upon finally taking our order (it does also state on the menu that they do table service up until 3pm and we had been sat since 12:45pm). The restaurant wasn't exactly busy so I cannot see any reason as to why we were left to wait as long as we did, even waitresses passing with food for other tables didn't stop to ask if we had been seen to even tho we had been sat for so long with not even a drink on the table. So after waiting for so long we didn't have time for any food, wouldn't recommend to anyone and will not be going back! Utterly disappointed!

Excellent vegetarian pizzas and choice of beers in relaxed surrounding. A great little find on a Sunday afternoon. Would recommend with brunch available until early afternoon and pizzas for noon. And downstairs is dog friendly!

Never fail to visit for lunch when in the area

Super friendly and cozy place that’s as good of a cafe as a bar, really fantastic coffee and range of beers, as well as super friendly staff. There’s inside, outside, cozy, bar stool places to sit. It’s also REALLY baby friendly, it’s one of the only places I’ve been with high chairs AND tables and there’s a great baby change with spare provisions.

One of our favourite brunch spots in Harrogate. Food is good, they have a good selection of smoothies and ales too. Fairly priced

Pizza was fantastic, lovely base and nice topping. Great choice of real ale, we asked the manager for recommendations and we he provided a great choice each time based on our taste. We were made to feel very welcome. We were only staying Harrogate for 2 nights but had to go back on the second day and again we were not disappointed and we were shown the same warm welcome. Great customer service

Great beer, pizza, coffee, and traybakes. What more could you ask for! Lots of non-alcoholic beer to choose from, including Mash Gang cans in their fridge. Excellent pizzas with plenty of vegetarian options, one vegan option, and gluten-free bases available. Staff were really friendly, and let me sample a couple of beers before selecting which one I preferred. They also make a nice coffee, using Darkwood coffee, and I had a very nice Rocky Road traybake to go with it. Their brunches are supposed to be very good too.

Had a lovely evening enjoying a calm atmosphere as a group of chattering friends, crocheting together. We were made to feel very welcome and service was great. 3 of us ate and chose absolutely delicious pizzas, I totally recommend the Heidi pizza, you won't regret it.

Came here for a walking group meet up..we were accommodated brilliantly in one of the function rooms... Great selection of beer and really liked the layout of the bar since the refurbishment

I'm an overweight American. I know what good pizza is. This is the best in town. If they'd deliver, I'd order 3x a week. If they'd make and American style 18 inch, I'd probably die in a month. I love this place. It's very, very good pizza.

Absolutely lovely restaurant in Harrogate with delicious thin stone baked pizzas (somewhere between a standard trattoria pizza and NY style). The veg sharing board starter is absolutely delicious. There is a small courtyard for outdoor seating which is a major sun trap too!

Been twice on 2 different trips to Harrogate, sensational breakfasts and lovely friendly staff.

Every time I have been to Starling the staff are always welcoming especially Duncan & Lee and let me tell you the drinks and food are outstanding so worth a visit for sure :)

What a great find my first visit will be going again when I am back in Harrogate they have a great selection of beer and the food is of a very high standard we had the brisket pizza and halloumi salad with orange and pomegranate

We had a three night visit to Harrogate, found this place on the second day and ate here four times. Breakfast and coffee was really good, and the dinner was excellent (Firestarter, Benchmark, Cheesy Garlic pizzas, and Caesar Salad). Brilliant how they offer whole or half pizzas. Staff were also very polite, friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend!

Popped in on our first visit to Harrogate and the bar for quick wheat beer at teatime, excellent ales and service, loved the local friendly atmosphere. Would deffo recommend a visit

Called in for breakfast and it was delicious (pancakes with bacon, eggs and maple syrup). There is a nice relaxed, friendly vibe and the staff are very attentive but not in your face, and it's dog friendly! Will be back soon to try out the amazing beers on offer

Lovely! Starling is a cosy central bar-café-eatery, the team couldn't have been more accommodating for a late notice booking on a friday night...with a dog! Delicious pizza, great drinks options, and brilliant service. We don't live locally but this would be a favourite if we did.

Cooked breakfast is quite good but not outstanding. Nice range of items, though a couple of the important bits (sausages, bacon) good be better quality. Similar story with the coffee. Good service and atmosphere. Nice and busy.

Popped into Starlings on a Sunday afternoon for a quick coffee and it was a delight from the moment I stepped through the door. The staff were friendly attentive and quick with the service and the coffee was spot on. Looking forward to returning in the near future to sample more coffee and some very tempting items off the menu

We thought we’d arrived in good time for the brunch menu but service was so slow, it meant we apparently missed the deadline. Staff were so happy to talk to themselves, they failed to see us sitting and waiting… 😴😴

Visited here for a family get together around Christmas, there was 13 of us and the place was very full. We received all our food in good time and nothing wrong with any orders. Food was absolutely great and drinks were fantastic to. Thanks, we will be back.

Had the poutine, basically a bowl of oven chip and bisto with some feta crumbled over. Tasted of absolutely nothing, have to say it was really poor and a massive disappointment

Exceptional food - everything was spot on, someone in the kitchen really knows what they’re doing! Lots of interesting, subtle flavours added, from the salad dressing to the crispy tofu (which was exceptional) and the home made humous which we enjoyed as part of the vegan sharing platter. Good beer selection and they are also dog friendly - one not to miss when in Harrogate.

We had our wedding reception at Starling. Service was fantastic. The pizza buffet was great. The decorations were lovely - white flowers and tea lights. Alex, the events manager, took a lot of stress out of the day. And they were also happy to price up a couple of our favourite cocktails to serve.

Just went for a few drinks. Friendly staff, good service, pleasant little place to spend an afternoon.

I had genuine high hopes, as I'd heard great things, but I was left disappointed. I ordered a full English (I can't remember what it's listed as on the menu), and my mother ordered mushrooms on toast. My mother said she enjoyed her food, but mine wasn't as good, I'm afraid. The bacon was rock hard, like it had been re-cooked several times, the beans were hard, cold and had a funny taste, like they were mixed with blended tinned tomatoes and the black pudding was hard and overcooked. The sausages were nice, though, and so was the mushroom. I had also asked the gent on the bar for no tomato, but when the waitress brought it out, it had tomato on it. When I mentioned it to her, she took the plate back away, and it was brought back out a couple of minutes later, minus the tomato. I also had to ask for my knife to be replaced, as it had food stuck to the end of it, from previous use. Overall, it was just a very disappointing experience. The young lady that was working did check on us, but I'd not eaten much of the food yet, so I couldn't really give an honest review. Also my mother wanted to treat me, so I didn't want to upset her by complaining, but you need the feedback to improve in future. It's a lovely little venue, but just a few smaller attentive details need to be ironed out in my opinion.

Interesting blend of cafe and bar. Nice atmosphere, suits all sorts of people, friendly service. UPDATE June 2022 - still going strong, good coffee etc UPDATE December 2022 - massive expansion, they've knocked through to next door and enlarged hugely. Great range of cask beers (fizzy beers also available) and the coffee is still excellent. UPDATE September 2023 - still an excellent choice for coffee or something else - great range of cask beers. Pleasant staff etc. Recommended.
