Whilst staying in Knaresborough for the week my wife and I ordered a takeaway fro Dil Raj. We both have to admit it was the best curry we've eaten in a long while. Excellent

Top restaurant, delivery driver is a top lad, very good food, vey hot and very tasty, will be eating again for sure !

Ali and Adil always make us welcome with a friendly smile on arrival. I try different items from the menu each week and they are all excellent. Taking your own booze helps to make it a very affordable night out every week and Saturday night without the Dil Raj just isn't the same. If you've not visited you don't know what you are missing and my views are based on being a customer since they opened - here's to the next 30 years.

Our Saturday nights would not be the same without our visits to the Dil Raj. Always guaranteed a warm welcome from Ali and Adil and great service throughout. A really good menu with lots of choice, we are never disappointed. The fact we can take our own alcohol makes our visits such great value. The place is looking really fresh a clean after it's recent makeover too! Thanks to Ali, the owner, for continuing to run a super little restaurant in our town.

The food was very average. The lamb tasted like wool, and there wasn’t a lot of meat in the curries. The naan breads were crispy which made it difficult to eat the curry with. It was an okay eat. Overall a lot more better curries.

My family and I popped in for a meal and it was really good we have been to a lot of restaurants but I can say I enjoyed every bit of it in fact we all did keep it up making really good food it was a pleasure to be a customer p.s try the sag and tikka

New to us after a very disappointing meal from our previous choice. So far our meals (two in total) have surpassed expectations. So for now this is our to go restaurant.

Nan bread was rubbery and tasteless. Curry nice but needed more sauce it was too dry. Disappointing

delivery was late, but got an apology, but the food was cold and had to reheat. The garlic naan bread was just naan bread, not very garlic.

If possible I would like to give 10 stars! Extremely delicious food and ultra nice service. We really enjoyed it and would come all the time if we lived here. A huge thank you! :)

First time ordering. Chicken Tikka Masla sauce was just tomato paste, really awful, personally not to our liking at all. The cheese nan had no cheese on it, infact my hubby thought it was just a plain nan that we had ordered by mistake but on checking it was definitely a cheese one we ordered! On the only plus side the starters we ordered were ok.... but only one tiny small salad for all the starters ordered. Shame about the mains, unfortunately will not be ordering again!

Highly recommended this restaurant. The food and service was amazing. I popped in by chance on a visit to Knaresborough and was not disappointed!

I love it here. Fast service and really good food, the chicken and king prawn tandoori dishes are always 10/10.

3 of us popped in for a meal here on Saturday night and it was brilliant .one of the party was a vegetarian and basically ordered something not on the menu ,nothing was a problem and the staff were really attentive. They had loads of ideas of stuff to try .I normally don't like lime pickle but this place has hone made stuff and it was so nice 👌 The food was delicious and really authentic 😋 we will definitely be back when passing that way again .

Great food, great service and great value. Not the fanciest of places but certainly one of the best for traditional Indian food. We've eaten here many times and never been disappointed.

In Knaresborough for the night. Wanted a traditional Indian. Some dishes on the menu we'd not heard of, so could try something new. The mixed started Dil sizzler was great. Mix of Onion Bhaji, Tandoori Chicken, lamb etc. Partner had a Lamb Masala with boiled rice which was in a rich tasty sauce, lamb was very tender. I had chicken Khandari, never had this before, again cooked great, chicken was tender and the dish was flavoursome. Nan was nice & thin & cooked just right. Service was good and the owner was chatty & engaging. Took some feedback on board.

Take your own beer or wine and enjoy a stunning indian meal. We have celebrated many birthdays, with friends and family at the Dil Raj for more than 20 years. We have enjoyed great food from Ali and his team, in a relaxed atmosphere at a reasonable price. Would highly recommend the restaurant for small group celebrations or a casual dining experience or take away. Special offer on on dine in menu Sunday and Thursday evenings.

I’ve gone pure Raj more than once but never tried Dil Raj. Safe to say it’s the tastiest purest Raj in town, highly recommended.

Sadly disappointing - korma had chicken tikka pieces mixed in so tasted strange and only 5 pieces of actual chicken?!? Cheese naan in plastic bag on top of all food so arrived cold. Poppadoms broken to little pieces. Onion bhajis tasteless - only one box of salad which was disappointing. Chicken jalfrezi was bland but chicken tasted ok. Mixed grill - chewy lamb, kebab was rubbery and somehow the onions were hard? Sad experience to say we ordered after seeing such positive reviews! Driver did arrive early which was great but poor packaging especially the naans and loudest delivery driver we have ever had on the estate - music blaring like it was Saturday night which isn’t great when you have a little one napping.

Just had our first take out being new to Knaresborough. Delivered promptly and politely and food was perfect. Will definitely order again when slimming world allow it.

On time. As ordered. Only thing was we do found it very oily. The oil had leaked out of the containers which was a little off putting.

Naga and Dill Raj donners are amazing but please deliver them to the front door not the side.

Delivery driver lost his way and then broke down. Food not so hot upon arrival. I now need to find a new curry house.

Over an hour past stated delivery time and still not arrived. Avoid

Arrived 2 hours after placing the order, making it well over an hour late. Called and was told it had left 5 mins ago, it arrived about 35 minutes after that! Clap cold and items missing.

Great meal and great service. The Thursday evening dine-in special is a solid deal with a set price for a starter, main plus rice or naan. BYOB is nice as well. Everyone in our party enjoyed the experience!

I loved this place I came yesterday with my parents and grandad and the lamb Tika Masala was great and the blonde waiter was so kind and made great service and gave me extra chocolate when I asked great place I recommend

Went on Sat evening the food was excellent, really friendly service and you can bring your own beers, definitely one of the best lamb naga,s I,ve ever had.

Chicken Biryani was all rice. Virtually zero meat. Disappointing. Butter chicken and papadoms fine. Chutneys very small and no mango ?

I asked for a well done thin&crispy naan&said I didn’t like doughy naan.got a cold sweaty thick doughy naan in a clear sealed plastic bag .curry was very oily…but edible…would try another Indian t/a next time in harrogate.

Dropped in here last night for the first time, not sure why I've never been before, Ali (the owner) is a gent and well known in Knaresborough having had this restaurant for over 20 years I believe... We had an pint of Malaga lager from Six Poor Folk just across the road ( no Alcohol available ) The food was great, really tasty and importantly great value, will be back again soon to support the Dil Raj as they have done for Knaresborough for many years...

Very small portions and very expensive food .

Hey just typed in curry takeaway and this place came in first, very nice people and service was so fast and the food was delicious. This is gunna be my new curry place

We were the only diners but we were early diner's. Atmosphere and ambiance were a bit lacking. Service was speedy. I was a bit disappointed with my veggie dish but my husband liked his.

Ordered a takeaway 2 chicken dishes 1 rice and 1 Nan - when my son bought it home no Nan . The chicken was tasty but there wasn’t much , the whole thing was £26 which I feel was expensive. I rang the restaurant and they offered to send the Nan - everything else would have been cold 🤷‍♀️ I did say I didn’t feel it was value for money- apparently I was paying for quality - won’t be doing again

Was in the few weeks ago and the Waiter was had was rude and impatient I'm DISGUSTED he didn't seem to respect wemon and maybe that's OK I'm your little country but not this one sweetie! You wanna live here? Learn they treat wemen right in this country not like you sados

Not fine dinning more a cafe style restaurant but don't let that put you off as the food was delicious, nice and spicy and the chicken was cooked to perfection, no licence so take your own,

My new absolute favourite curry!! Had 3 in the space of a week! A must try!! Will be making my way through the menu! Highly recommend! Just delicious!! So reasonably priced and they have great offers too!

Ordered a takeaway to be delivered to Harrogate, waited over and hour and a half, had to call for an update in which I was told on the phone it's not been started yet and that I do live a bit out of the way. Told it would be another hour but can't be guaranteed as busy. It's a shame as I'm sure it would have been nice food, just let down by the service and lack of update, cancelled and ordered elsewhere.

Came here on my birthday early October with family and it was that good we couldn’t wait to get back there tonight. Food excellent, great cosy atmosphere and such lovely staff, which is why we will keep going back. You really feel so looked after the staff can’t do enough to make sure you have a great experience. Food tonight was amazing, thanks again.

Ahmed was a lovely host and couldnt do more. We had lamb kahari and garlic and chilli lamb. Full of flavour and the lamb was superb! A lovely meal we had whilst away. Thank you

Half a tray of curry, bland/flavourless, very chewy meat, naan was a cracker, no spice what so ever. Ordered the chicken naga, I’ve had kormas more spicy. Won’t be returning, giving a two star because I don’t want to be too harsh. Not impressed.

I used to love this take away and restaurant. Been going for years last visit was VERY mediocre to say the least. Disappointed

Very inconsistent. Sorry guys, when it's good it's good, but it's not always good and I just can't trust it anymore. I've had good Jalfrezi, I've had Jalfrezi that honestly tasted like onion gravy from a tin, I've had Jalfrezi that was tomato-based sauce with a piece of green chilli floating in it, as though they had spare Rogan Josh and hoped I wouldn't notice. I've ordered other things besides Jalfrezi, but that allows an illustrative comparison. I shouldn't be crossing my fingers that this time will be a good one whenever I order, but that's what happens now. So it's time to look elsewhere.

Indian restaurant reminds me of goa, basic decor, but food superb. Asked for a traditional bengladash meal that wasn’t on the menu and served us with two lovely lamb dishes. Yum, yum. Definitely recommend this restaurant

We went on a Sunday night and were the only customers in there. This would normally have put us off but Knersborough was very very quiet. Tables and decor was a little cafe like but the food was nice and very quick!!! No alcoholic drinks but I believe you can take your own with no corkage.

Great little restaurant, basic and simple inside with a good range of dishes at reasonable prices with friendly staff. Bring your​ own booze, there's a Tesco just across the way.

Nice fresh food no grease , tasty and you bring your own drinks with no corkage fee :)
