Starbucks Oxford Peartree in Vale of White Horse

Overcharged £10 for simple drinks plus toasties. How hard is it to count 2 toasties? Yet we were charged for 4 toasties. Is this a scam. We were not offered a receipt initially, nor given correct change, nor given an apology without asking first. Disgrace or worse.

Drinks and food the usual stuff for a Starbucks, but it has to be said that the toilets here are bloody awful. The door lock looks like someone has tried to break in. Wash basin filthy. Urine all over the floor. Like something out of the movie Trainspotting.

I have been a loyal customer for the 30 years. Five months ago I decided to cut the sugar out so ordered a Venti filter coffee, I was told they did not make filter coffee anymore but I could have an americano for the same price. For months it tasted like hot water due to being very ill I thought it was my taste buds. I mentioned my concern as I would go twice a day and then suddenly it started to taste ok. Then my starbucks card would suddenly loose 15 pounds. I called all numbers that are available and was unable to speak to anyone also sending E-mail no reply. Eventually someone spoke to me I explained the problem he said he could see my card and yes the money had been taken out. Probably a mistake with card reader he credited my account, though as he pointed out the manager should have done it. A couple days later the same thing happened again I could no t get a reply from head office and spoke to another manager who gave me two vouchers, he did not understand I did not want free drinks I just wanted my money back as it is called theft...... I am rather frustrated at this point also my expresso frapp would taste different every time, only one person made it the same every time. So I foolishly went and asked them to make it correctly one too much sugar, hardly taste coffee too much ice which probably effects the taste. Then the so called area manager came he looked down at me and obviously did not respect women. Maybe it is a culture thing. My problem is he had no knowledge of coffee and he did not understand why I was upset. Told me no free drinks I said I do not want free drinks I just want the drinks made properly and for your card machine to stop stealing my money. He said we have no complaints which I know is not true but there was no point disagreeing so I said well English people do not like to complain. He then called me racist. Then he banned me from Starbucks. The problem I have due to being ill I am unable to drive to another Starbucks and to be honest I cannot afford the petrol. I went to see if I could get a cup of ice and the girl at the drive through did not speak to me and ignored me in fact someone else drove in and she would have just blocked the traffic. Maybe she would call the police and waste there time. I will no longer be here in a few months and it deeply upsets me I can not enjoy my favourite drinks. Also how can I get the £50.00 back from my Starbucks card? But here is a question some friend's asked me have any other people noticed the difference to Starbucks over the past 4 years. They seem to have no interest in the business and it is loosing money . My friend's believe they are using some of the business's to launder money but they do read a lot of books and have great imaginations as well as of the chart IQ. This particular drive through is Starbucks Oxford M40 Welcome Break DT. M40 Motorway, Junction 8a, Thame Road, Waterstock.

Initially, the lady who took our drive-thru order was polite and professional. However, when we reached the window, the young lady seemed uninterested, wearing a sour expression while leaning on the counter. It was quite embarrassing, and I think Starbucks should improve their staff management and training. Plus the hygiene levels are diabolical! 🤮 they need a visit from the Environmental Health Officers. I wouldn't recommend spending your money at this particular Starbucks.

Been coming in here for last couple of weeks whilst staying at Travelodge here and Maz staff member is an absolute legend-very polite young chap as well as a great laugh-treats you more like a friend than a customer and his customer service is fantastic so would recommend-restaurant is very clean and well looked after by the staff here-well done

Just come out of the starbucks at M40 Oxford services heading towards london. Was so impressed with the proffesional and friendly service that i just couldnt drive away before writing a review (from the car park haha). To the 3 lads (of asian background?); thankyou!

Simplemente me detuve a tomar un café y no esperaba encontrarme con actitud al ordenar, actitud al recoger y luego actitud cuando pedí algo para limpiar nuestra mesa. Alguien debería entrar y entrenar a estos niños en servicio al cliente, ya que este es un Starbucks, no una cuchara grasienta al costado de la carretera.

Absolutely disappointing coffee sevice was terrible. Just couldn't drink my caramel latte. Absolutely gutted

An ideal place between city and A-Road for a snack and a toilet break. You will find a holiday inn in the vicinity with swimming pool facility as well.

Great location for this Starbucks at Oxford services and ample parking outside rather than parking in the general services parking. Friendly staff, clean tables, nice light area and good coffee.

Went in hoping to grab a brownie hot chocolate (last years Christmas special) but alas, they no longer sell it. However the very friendly barista suggested an ever better combo. He promised they would make me the best hot chocolate using different syrups. I can’t remember what combo I had but it was delicious. They even went to town on the cream to make it extra special. Starbucks cream really is the best cream. Doesn’t disintegrate quickly, thick and sweet. He also spent extra time helping me get my app and card set up properly on my phone. Great service with more than a smile.

To break the journey you need a coffee ... or do you really. Expensive coffee and toastie with hardly a smile - tables needed clearing and area uninteresting

A place to stop - not much to compliment it - not much food selection - quite large seating area - just clean - uninteresting decor

Five people behind the counter, not a huge queue but many tables uncleared and not wiped. Toilet was strewn with paper. Pumpkin latte was on the wall menu as three sizes (I’ll use English) small, medium and large. I was asked if I wanted medium or large. Neither I had to say, small, please. £3.99 each and total over £8.00! Why? They charge 5p for paper cup. I could not see any notice of this and I suppose I don’t mind but the sneaky approach put me on edge. Drink was ok but too sweet.

Hot chocolate - not stirred/mixed. A pain au chocolate which was stale. Dirty floors and tables (although someone was in the process of wiping them) It wasn't busy and this was only 7.30 in the morning.

Stopped here both times on a trip to/from the South Coast. Blonde barista was very friendly and our drinks were made quickly and tasted good. Note: bring a reusable cup to get 25p off any drink. Will stop here again when travelling around Oxford.

We popped into the drive thru - I asked for take out, older woman serving was multi tasking taking to staff and me at the same time. She then stopped me abruptly mid order for my name so the drinks could be started. When the order was reading, no name called, the rolls arrived....on plates we waited while they had a discussion about it, then put into take out bags. Then the drinks were delivered in mugs......so (sigh) we waited while they had another discussion and re-made them into takeout cups.

The coffee is good but omg the place is depressing, it’s dirty and old it’s like sitting in an old British home stores cafe but worse!!!! Ideal place if you want to feel like topping yourself

Visited this Starbucks while stopping at Oxford Services. Should have bought elsewhere!

Standard starbucks fare. Was clean and tidy with friendly staff. Called in on the afternoon for christmas vente eggnog latte and fruit toast. Close to all facilities and shops and not forgetting free wifi

Worst Starbucks I have ever been to. The staff are so unprofessional the guy who served us was throwing the sandwiches around I would score it a ZERO star if I could .

Refreshing choice of coffees and accompaniments, served by a busy and efficient staff. The lounge area is modern spacious and is easy to find a seat. £2.70 each for a small American - about right.

We called here for a drink & a snack whilst driving between Surrey & Wales along the M40. The service was good, the only downside being the single toilet which had a permanent queue whilst we were there. We gave up and walked over to the main services for WCs, but the food & drink here were fine.

We have used these services twice this week travelling to & from Southampton where my Dad is in hospital.

Great smiling faces despite it being early morning , well Made coffee not too hot , perfect as not to make the Taste bitter , and had a nice hot satisfying breakfast bap , comfy seats , but was disappointed at how at that time the floor and table was messy and dirty

I go to Cambridge every few months and this Starbucks is the perfect stopoff. We happened to be passing at the moment THE WEDDING was starting, and thanks to Caitlin and the rest of the team, we had a memorable and hugely enjoyable unscheduled half hour.

It’s 2.30pm not busy which was good served quite quickly which was good. Downside - didn’t have any cream base for a Frappuccino, no cutlery, no toilet roll in 2 cubicles of the ladies toilets. Went to tell staff about the lack of toilet tissue to be met with an “and” couldn’t be bothered. The hot chocolate was half a cup the time the froth had gone and was very strong, too strong. There was far too much cheese in the toasties and I love my cheese. The best part was the cake. On the whole wouldn’t stop there again.

Good coffee, friendly service and plenty of seating - take away available or drink in. Some snacks available.

Stopped for a drink and a snack. It was not busy and we got served quickly. Staff ok but not very welcoming. Food and drinks ok, o would have enjoyed them more in a clean environment. I had a ruck sack and did not want to put on the disgusting dirty floor. It looked like it had not been swept or mopped in months. The tables looked as disgusting. The toilets that you have to use along side this facility are the worst I have ever visited. You feel unsafe as a woman going downstairs to them. Half of them did not work, half the ceiling tiles were missing and they were filthy. I would advise everyone to avoid these services at all costs an awful lot of money needs investing in this establishment although cleaning does not cost much!

Not many people in, toilets males was clean and soap and good hand dryer, only one staff member on. They was pleasant and chatty. Coffee was correct temperature so didn't take long to drink. Unlike some when you have to leave for hours to cool down. Cake was nice not over heavey. Price i find a little more expensive compared to other coffee chains but this was nice

I stopped on my way home after work. Great place to take a break and enjoy the coffee. Spacious place and friendly staff.

We had to sit in here after we were involved in a car accident on Friday 8th Dec. My husband and I were very shaken as our car had been probably written off and we had an hour to wait for recovery. We bought a latte and sat waiting, one of the staff on, a young girl came over and asked if we were ok and would we like a latte on the house whilst we waited. A small gesture but it meant the world to us.

We all know how it is when you go through the drive thru lane in a hurry at the golden arches only to get parked for the simplest of orders?!?

I must admit to previous disdain for Starbucks coffee because of a bad experience with it some years ago. But we found their espresso this time really good. And the seating area was reasonably civilised by British motorway service centre standards. One irritating aspect though: asking for your name to collect your order even if you're the only customer there. Memo to management: allow your staff discretion on this one.

We’ve been here several times and it is a reasonable starbucks experience. You get the trademark starbucks coffee and food at the slightly higher motorway price.

Went in here as our car broke down and was waiting on recovery,so we decided to come here to use the toilets and to buy a coffee,but as soon as you walk into the entrance there is an awful stench of what I can only describe as urine,we then went downstairs to use the toilets and the smell was even worse,so my guess is the smell coming from the toilets is travelling all the at up into the food/coffee area.I think something should be done about this asap or even reported as surely its a health and safety issue!!!!

Driving back fro the south with the family of four and I needed to stop for a drink! This place was at the services and did the job. It's not cheap, and I don't like the taste of Starbucks coffee (coffee is too strong for my liking) but I needed a warm drink. Service is what you expect from a service station café and wasn't the cleanest. However, it was convenient, had seating and there was a place to park!

I don't think this is typical of Starbucks but as far as middle of nowhere cafes, there seems to be less focus on customer service and more on the fast turnaround and the quick buck for a lot of trunk road and motorway service areas and this one is pretty high up on my list of places I won't be going again

An average Starbucks, giving a welcome break between the miles travelled. Easy parking and access, usual menu items, friendly service.

Come on Starbucks. Other chains can produce GF crisps or biscuits at the very leadt but nothing at all for folk who have an intolerance? Just not good enough. The coffee was OK but not nice to sit there very hungry and watch everyone else eating! Waitrose next door was not helpful but after asking and being told there was nothing we did eventually a safe salad and a flapjack to eat in the car. Why would I stop there again?

I've boycotted Starbucks for some time because of their tax position. However, I found myself nowhere near and other provider when staying at local Travel Lodge, What I found was premises that has worn furniture, scratched tables, and poor service.The croissant I had for breakfast was not good....and the coffee is well behind Cafe Nero for taste.

Dreadful! We had previously stopped further south on the A34 at a Costa, which knocked this into a "cocked hat" assistant on till didn't seem bothered, asked for a coffee & pot of tea. Drinks were not served in order, tea arrived in a disposable cup, not a pot & was tasteless. Tables were dirty. Will not be calling here again

This Starbucks is just off the A34 as part of a mini service station. Outside there was a small grassy area where a number of people were resting. It offers the usual Starbucks choice and for my visit was fully stocked.

We stopped at Starbucks on the A34 on a hot sunny day. The inside is grey and dismal and depressing. There was no one else in when we arrived and we were surprised at how dirty the floor was in certain areas and the tables too. Whilst we had coffee about six other people arrived so it was not a case that the staff were so busy that they could not keep the place clean. One member of staff did clean two of the tables near the serving area but did not go anywhere near any of the other tables. The toilets were a disgrace. The hand dryers were out of order in both toilets and there were paper towels strewn all over the floor. Next time we drive down the A34 we will definitely give this place a miss. Come on Starbucks brighten the place up.

Located at the 'services' at the north end of the Oxford ring road - adjacent a Waitrose and a Travelodge opposite. Quite spacious, lots of windows and light, standard Starbucks furniture, standard Starbucks offerings. You may like or hate Starbucks but they are consistent all over the world - only McDonalds can match them in that respect. If you are a connoisseur, then you should know where to get your coffee.

I am a Starbucks fan - some would even call me an addict!

Exactly what you'd expect from Starbucks. Good coffee, great hot chocolate and some delicious cakes. Breakfast rolls are really nice. Always tables available and theyre usually cleared quickly. Generally good service although some of the staff let it down- there's a couple who are particularly rude and clueless.

Called in for breakfast, after a very early start & before a meeting in Oxford. But there was no hot food, the microwave was broken. It's bad enough that a bacon bap has to be microwaved rather than cooked properly, so we walked away. When they pay their full taxes & serve proper food I might give them my custom.

I called here last night for a break on a long journey. I ordered a turkey flat bread, hot chocolate and double chocolate muffin. The Turkey bap was fairly tastless, but I was very hungry, so ate it as by that time in the night there was not as much choice (understandably) . The hot chocolate was ok. However the muffin, which I saved for the car as the biggest let down. It tasted like cardboard and was to me inedible. One to avoid altogether.

Stopped here with a work colleague when on our way to a meeting in Oxford. It's a Starbucks in a service station and it is very 'Average'. But if you are simply looking for a cake and a coffee and a break from your car for 5 minutes it's fine.

I like almost all Starbucks products, when I find one i'm safe: frappuccino, espresso con panna, fruit juice or milk with cream always the best.

The coffee was good and so were the biscuits and the Pain Au Chocolat we had...however the only problem was the tray...it was flimsy and small to hold 3 cups. It was a good place to have coffee...thumbs up!

After stopping at the services with my daughter last night ( 1st June 2015) we ordered two drinks . My daughter had a hot chocolate and the service from the young lady was excellent , making sure it wasn't too hot for her , keeping the lid off and topping with lots of cream . I know it's just little things but she was friendly , attentive and my daughter said she wants to go back there again just to see her ! Sometimes praise isn't given enough.. So to the young lady with the dark curly hair .. Thankyou for cheering is up . We hope an excellent review will do the same for you ... Fingers crossed for a pay rise :)

After a trip down the A34 it's nice to be able to go to a services with a branded coffee company (with standards) as opposed to a home-grown company where anything could count as "quality". Staff were friendly and helpful and the seating area was very clean, bright and inviting. Free wifi too which is nice when tagging yourself on facebook, because I always think a journey hasn't started until you've let all of your friends know that you've stopped for a grande hot chocolate. Prices seemed reasonable and standard - £3.55 per drink.

...in a familiar spot. Friendly staff and big upstairs dining room with free wifi...and did I mention the great coffee drinks? The sandwiches at Starbucks in England are different than in the US and I LOVED the croissant with cheese and mushrooms. Mouth watering...time to go! Visited this place at least 5 times during our 4 day stay....

The Starbucks restaurant was fine and to the usual standard found on Motorways. The toilets, ie the ladies were in need of a deep clean. The were getting cleaned but the dirt on sinks, taps and overall cleanliness was very bad (one of the worst I have come across). To be fair to Starbucks there are other outlets there so this is a kick in the pants for the Welcome Break Group Ltd.

I visited Peartree Services at about 5pm on Wed 11 June 2014.

It's the perfect place for a break in the city of Oxford: there is always a lot of people, but is really comfortable; there are two rooms, there is the wifi line, and is situated in the centre of the city. The coffee is perfect!

I travel a lot and this Starbucks is better than most of the other service stations I visit. The staff are more or less always happy and the coffee is normally spot-on (unlike many other places I visit). Loads of seats, tidy area, nice view of traffic jams too!

Dopo un paio di ore a gironzolare tra i negozi della fredda Oxford non c'è niente di meglio di andare da Starbucks e godersi una bella tazza ( direi tazzona xxl) di cioccolato caldo o caffè! C'è la possibilità di connettere il proprio computer alla rete lan e vi consiglio di gustarvi la vostra cioccolata al primo piano dove c'è la possibilità di sedersi nei tavolini adiacenti ad una grande vetrata da cui si può ammirare High Street! Consigliato!! E se volete un consiglio..portatevi con voi un buon libro da leggere!

We popped in to break up our journey and considering it is in a Motorway services it is pretty good. There seemed to be plenty of seats (quite tidy and the staff were busy clearing these ASAP).

Visited this Starbucks whilst staying in a hotel across the way, had a coffee light one day and a caramel macchiato the next.

I waited 20 minutes on a Sunday morning and it wasn't eventhat busy

Like most Starbucks, the staff are professional, the coffee is the best available, but this one doesn't have queues of people Convenient on the side of the A34 at Peartree Services, call in its worth it

Had a decent size coffee here and sat for ages without feeling any 'pressure' to 'move on'. A bit pricey but motor services places always are. It has a few nice lounge seats near the big windows and has a light airy feel to it, it can get really busy sometimes but is still quite relaxed. A good place to kill time..

I had to meet up with some family members here today so this visit was forced upon me. I hate the cheap chunky cups Starbucks use anyway but had no choice in this today. The cappuccino my father and I had was mostly froth and have you ever had a cappuccino and not been offered chocolate to go on the top as happened to us today. My friend said her tea was also horrible.

Have travelled the A34 for many years and stopped at this service area often, on 24/06/2011 my wife and I stopped for a drink and found that alot of changes had taken place and the area serving drinks was now Starbucks.
