Starbucks - Newport Road in Cardiff

It was busy but the team were very friendly and service was quicker than I expected! My daughter didn’t like the drink she had chosen, I tried to pay for a new one and they offered to remake one for free and it was made straight away. Safe to say my daughter loved her second drink and the cake there was lovely. Very professional and clean in store.

I travel a lot and visit a fair few Starbucks, but this one is lovely! Interior is worn down but service, atmosphere and speed is on point. I visit on the weekends occasionally with my granddaughter, although it's busy, my drink is always on the dot!

Came here with my friends when we went out, ordered a dragon fruit refresher with ice, we were told there was no more ice so I ordered the pumpkin spice latte. It took twenty minutes for that, and halfway through the wait, one of the workers opened a freezer filled with ice! The Pumpkin spice latte was flavourless and would not cool down. Stick to the one in city centre!

Only like the Frappuccinos but unable to get them. Keep going at like 9pm only To be told their machine is off for cleaning. Very disappointing. Will have to go to the other one as they do the frappucinos all night long

AVOID AT ALL COSTS, take your money elsewhere! Visit here this week with my friend, on the same day we both come down so so unwell from eating a ham and cheese toastie and a 5 cheese toastie. Since then we have both been very unwell, severely unwell. This branch need to sort the health and safety out with the food; Avoid please!

So me and my friend come here this week, ordered a caramel latte also a smoked ham & cheese toastie with mustard! I am not happy at all the service was unprofessional, late that day en i become really unwell in myself where i was being sick & had cramp pains! That toastie was soggy underneath & look like snot if im honest! I will not be returnin back here! Its disgusting!! Now my friend has become really unwell aswell. Think you need better staff & maybe clean your oven where you heat up toasties & stuff!

Cold cafe. Slow to deliver drink. Nearly £7 for one cookie and a coffee. The cookie could have been been more flavoursome if cooked by my five year old. The coffee very average.

On Saturday 9th of Sepetember 2023 (at 3:33PM) I ordered a Salted Maple & Caramel Cream Cold Brew and it was the most disgusting thing I've ever tried. More like dirty socks fermented brew. With the price tag above £4 it's an extorsion. The shop assistant had zero shop assistant skills, was ignorant and rude. She made me a replacement drink after I had to insist that I didn't want another cold brew ever in my life. She didn't prepare what I requested, ditched it without letting me know it was ready even though she knew we were waiting for it. The interior set up is worn out, tables don't get cleared, the floor is filthy, rubbish everywhere. Staff is noisy like kids on the playground and don't allow you to 'enjoy' your overpriced and badly prepared drink. It's a joke and it should be shut down due to lack of hygiene at least. But the list goes on...AVOID!!!!! Your home made Nescafe will taste like a dream after visiting this place.

All staff at Starbucks were very lovely, they were very patient when I had been extremely indecisive. Lovely store on Newport road and very tidy. Extra thanks to Jess for putting a smile on our faces as we left :)

Rats running around in the car park, place is stinking dirty. Reported it because of the pest issues. Wouldn’t waste your money.

Worst Starbucks I've ever been to - sticky and dirty tables, blaring music which definitely wasn't appropriate for a coffee shop (never experienced this in a Starbucks before) and the baristas couldn't care less about making you a decent drink. Considering how high the prices have become, was so disappointed with my drink and it went straight in the bin.

Never visited this store before but always thought Starbucks would all be to the same standard. Visiting this week I’ve learned that this is not the case. We came for lunch and the selection in the fridge was awful. It was half empty. Then when we did sit down with our food and drinks after waiting 20 minutes (some people queuing by the till left at this point as we were just being ignored) there were flies flying up to the food and we had to keep swinging around our hands to scare them away. The money you pay for the visit doesn’t match the service. The floor was dirty, there were pieces of food all over it so there’s no surprise there’s flies. I’m not one to write reviews but honestly just save yourself the trouble. I have reached out to head office about this.

This store is always dirty, there’s rubbish everywhere outside and inside. Toilets are always disgusting with no toilet roll. You have to wait ages for your drink and then staff are unfriendly and never apologetic. All seem young and untrained and unbothered to be working in filth.

Ordered two large coffees , one was OK but other was very bitter , coffee tasted burnt. Very poor and not replaced when I asked. Won't go again.

I’ve been to the store three times in the past two months not even once have they got my coffee right? Ordered a white mocha with cream not even once have I had the cream to do it wasn’t even a white mocha. It was a cappuccino. Very disappointed. We waited over 10 mins to place our order when there was just one customer ahead of us the queue. The staff are young and inexperienced with no support from a manager, who we later found out was out the back. After waiting a further 15 mins for our drinks order - two cappuccinos, nothing complicated - we decided to give up and ask for a refund. No member of staff could sort a refund as they were not trained to. That’s how we found out the manager was out the back. I agree with other comments about cleanliness as it was difficult to find a clean table to sit at, and recent orders have not been made correctly. I like Starbucks but this branch really lets the brand name down. Caerphilly branch much better!

I know starbucks can be pretty bad in the UK but this one is truly awful. Reading other reviews explains why it was pretty much empty of customers on a Saturday afternoon. It is the filthiest Starbucks I have ever seen and I have been in some one bad ones. I usually avoid like the plague but we were in need of a coffee and a quick bite on a busy day out shopping. I went to starbucks Newport road yesterday (7th November 2020) and ordered a soya Xhot toffee nut latte. The speaker was broke however the staff took my order really quickly and I was greeted with a very warm welcome. Whilst I was waiting at the window, the atmosphere amongst the team was so lovely to watch and made my experience more enjoyable. Will definitely become a regular at starbucks Newport road.

I have visited many times recently and found that Both the drive thru and in store provide consistently extremely slow service. The joys of being a franchise. The franchisee would do well to visit Starbucks next door to watch and learn efficiency and productivity in action! Don with wasting my life at this Starbucks

Smelly, dirty, old. Really cool how they got the sofas from the original Starbucks and put them here, looks like the entire world population has sat on them. Everything else looks like it was made 50 years ago, including the people that have been standing in the queue for 50 years. Not sure who made the call of putting toilets in that haven’t been cleaned before. Overall, I’ve had a better experience sitting in a tip drinking coffee, unless you’ve got a spare 3 hours and would like to catch a sickness bug, don’t bother.

In need of a real clean and a facelift. Friendly staff but a pretty crappy facility; the result of the Starbucks investment boom that capitalised on opening as many stores as possible, now unable to stay on top of the upkeep?

The staff were friendly however the coffee and food were not up to scratch and the place is decrepit especially considering it’s not that old. Ingrained dirt on every table and seat, debris all over the floor, views outside of overflowing ashtrays. No plans to return.

This was our first visit and last. Don't usually feel compelled to write a review but this place was so dirty inside and out.
