Starbucks Coffee Company in Brighton and Hove

Came to Starbucks with family 2 grandchildren found staff unfriendly and impatient. I approached counter but later on but the 4 male staff were engaged in their own conversation to serve me .. won’t be going back

The customer service was absolutely horrendous. Hamish was very rude and incorrect order was given.

Staff seem miserable. I assume this is to do with management. The one in Kemp Town has a great atmosphere and is buzzing. This one is depressing, staff look upset, tables and floor are dirty and it's a no from me.

The staff were nice and friendly, coffee was also fine. However this is the dirtiest and most depressing looking Starbucks I’ve EVER visited. Does anybody ever clean this place? Upstairs is so bland, it resembles a prison waiting room and my feet were sticking to the dirty floor. Shame Starbucks, sort it out and get some professional cleaners in

Me and my partner visited this Starbucks to get a drink and use the toilet after cycling in Brighton for the day. Upon our arrival we went to the toilet but had full of intentions of sitting down for a drink afterwards. As the toilet only had one cubical, which was for both male and female customers, me and my partner naturally just went in together. I get rather anxious in social situations so don’t like being alone but this is something i’ve never experienced an issue with. Moments after going to the toilet there was a loud, continuous hammering on the door with a woman, who claimed to be the manager of this branch, shouting loudly that we need to get out. As you can imagine I was rather confused as there was no sign stating that there is a one person policy. I could understand if we were being disrespectful but we were just minding our own business and had no clue about the policy in place. After coming out of the toilet and speaking to the manager, she was still using an aggressive tone and it was very embarrassing as the shop was rather busy. She went on to say about how only customers are allowed to use the toilet but we had full intentions of sitting down and buying a drink afterwards. After being shouted at and humiliated in front of all the customers, the last thing we wanted to do was stay there and have a drink. Reasonably, we then left and went to a Pret instead. As we walked out the manager and the present staff members were staring and laughing which was extremely belittling. I have never experienced anything like this before. Whilst I understand and respect you have policies, we shouldn’t have been made to feel this uncomfortable, especially by a manager. For all this woman knows, I could’ve had a hidden disability and needed help going to the toilet.

Great place cool staff. Very kind and look after customers. I go there often twice a day and always good.

Love it here. Friendly staff, good service and nice seating. The coffee is great as well of course! The WiFi is very good as well.

I live around the corner and every time I visit the staff are so lovely and hard working. I know Starbucks isn’t for everyone but I’ve never been let down by this branch

Went here at 10.30 Sunday morning and the place looked filthy. Cigarette butts and debris on the floor. Floor did not look as if it had been washed for the week.

Staff are really lovely always very friendly! - they do their best to clean tablets but some of their customers behave disgustingly and drop food on the floor and don't care - would they do that in their own home! I think not..... I love the fact that you can bring your pooches here - really cool relaxed vibe!

Although I come in nearly every day, today I feel move to write a review. The staff here are kind, hard-working and helpful. I always feel welcomed. It’s comfortable to sit here and work or chat, and I enjoy checking in with the community of regulars. The toilets sometimes are quite grim, but that’s down to some punters - the staff try heroically to keep up with it. A great place!

As usual the coffee is good with a good selection of alternatives to dairy milk. The area is quite pleasant with lots of seating.

Been in here a few times. On every occasion I have had to clean my own table and seat. On one occasion I was sat upstairs for 2.5 hours there was food and rubbish on the floor and tables, I didn’t see one member of staff come and clean in all that time. It’s the most filthiest Starbucks I have visited.

Lovely bright large cafe in central Hove, near Palmeira Square. Friendly staff who are happy to chat with customers and the usual fairly good Starbucks food. Shame about regular people who come in with dogs and let them sit on the chair next to them - unhygienic and wrong. Saw a baby being licked by a french bulldog when his parents were queueing up at the counter- they were horrified!

Nice store but irresponsible dog owners with their dogs on tables is too much. Generally very good. I have no problem with assistance dogs, and I even don't mind dogs sitting at their owners feet but now I see dogs on the seats and up with paws on the tables. It is not the dogs I have a problem with but owners who lack respect and need to continually have the adoration of their pets to help their poor self esteem.

Really friendly staff . Great atmosphere. I also noticed that laptops were left on tables while people ordered their food etc . Clearly a nice clientele . We visited three times during our weekend break .

New management is terrible. Starbucks is normally reliable for a quick coffee or grab and go. I never know if the menu is applicable, it is a lottery if you will get the drink you even want. Always out of stock of chai tea latte. Store manager (wears glasses) is blunt, rude, argumentative and un-helpful. Oh, the toilet normally stinks also. Avoid like the common plague.

This Starbucks is pretty rubbish. Always messy (why does no one ever wipe the tables clean here?!) and a mixed bag of staff, but generally they are pretty rude.

Ordered my coffee all alright, they proceeded to give me the wrong drink. Now this wasn’t the problem, the problem came when I went to return the coffee and receive what I actually ordered the staff were rude and blamed me entirely for something I had no control over

The place is very comfortable and quiet. You can spend a lot of time with your friends and enjoy a good coffee. The staff are quick, friendly and helpful. When the weather is good you can sit outside.

Used to be a great coffee shop to relax in but now it's just a bleak, miserable place. It's always freezing. The wifi is rubbish. And adults don't seem to be able to aim in the toilet properly. Only come in here occasionally now.

All these miserable reviews. Recently popped in for a couple of cappuccino's to take away like I usually do and never been disappointed by the friendly quick service of the staff behind the counter. Although I have never sat down there, it does look like a nice place to sit down and chill with the relaxed modern airy feel to the seating area.

This Starbucks is really bleak. Whoever designed it needs to find a new job. It's like being inside an empty office with a few scattered chairs and tables added as an afterthought. It's noisy, empty and totally un-inviting.. go elsewhere until someone within Starbucks management decides to do something about it.

Early morning coffee in Hove, and although this is a standard Starbucks for coffee its pretty sparse with its seating and not one of their best. However we were only there for the coffee and cakes, which were up to normal level. Staff were a bit spaced out I think, or just did not get what I was asking for.

Went here with my wife, they cocked up our order and left us waiting. They asked us our name when we ordered, but failed to call it out. They only gave us ONE coffee when we ordered two and left one on the counter unannounced. No apology, just an offer to warm up the cold one. Incompetent, and it's not as if the coffee is all that wonderful either. I've had just as good in McDonald's for half the price, and it was hot.

Tried Starbucks opposite my work because the costa is always busy, they had three members of staff and three customers, staff member saw me but decided to finish ah her conversation about the programme on Netflix before she took my order. I waited 5 mins for one drink by then I was the only customer. That's why there is 3 busy costas in Churchill square and only one Starbucks.

Too many hard surfaces ensure noise is amplified. Staff don't exactly help with their sqealing and banter, the exception being Elena who is getting on with her work but still making customers feel like individuals. Not quite sure why the badgeless TOWIE wannabe is so fond of herself.

I go here most days of the week before work. And the staff are my favourite the girls go above and beyond little things like knowing my name and my drink! There also full of complements ha.

I have been here several times and love it. It also does great fruit toast and several hot and cold drinks

On my second visit the staff remembered my name! which was a nice touch! Good place to sit and relax with free wifi and watch the world walk by.

I find it hard to understand why anyone who likes coffee would come hear free Wi-Fi is the only thing I guesse

People in Brighton are sometimes quite snobby about big chains like Starbucks. I have been coming to this Starbucks for the past 12 months. There are people who come to this coffee shop every day. It has a real community feel to it and it is created by the wonderful staff who work here. All the staff are friendly, really cheerful and helpful. They always go out of their way to make your day a little brighter. The staff here work extremely hard and I hope Starbucks' senior management team recongise what wonderful work the staff here are doing. Well done guys! You're fab and always make me smile!

I do like the coffee but the service can be a bit hit and miss. Some staff are really nice and then some miserable. Don't understand that you have one taking money and then one making the coffee. The one taking money has processed all the orders but then leaves the one on their own to make them. Surely they should help make them. Doesn't make sense. Was asked how to spell my name....not that hard as its Dave lol

As Starbucks go, this one is pretty shabby around the edges and there is very little in the way of comfortable seating available. Mostly they seem to have realised that it's largely used as a place for getting wifi access, and so have gone big on hard chairs and tables. Even then, it's a a difficult place to work as it's generally very noisy. As for the coffee, well, there are at least 4 places within a couple of hundred yards (even directly over the road) which make it incomparably better and cheaper. Live a little and try one of the independents.

Stopped by for a decent coffee but was very disappointed. Very dirty chairs. Not to mention the floor or windows that appear not to have seen water this year. The air conditioning was dropping dust in large volumes and I just won't let my imagination try to understand what else was looming in there

It's just another Starbucks. Same old same old. Nothing special, nothing new, just overpriced low quality coffee. Plenty of other choices in the area.

The worst Starbucks I have ever been in, staff don't listen and so slow. Had to wait 10 mins before being served waited another 5 before I got my green tea ... Terrible

While the visit to Hove I spent a week and most of the days I have my breakfast in SB and enjoying the best coffee and light snacks .

I received a Starbucks voucher for my birthday and every morning on my holiday in Brighton I bought a coffee before taking it to the beach to drink. The coffee was delicious and the sTaff were really friendly.
