Starbucks in Carmarthenshire

A lovely little Starbucks which feels tucked away. As you approach it, it looks a bit... weird. Shabby even. But when you go in, there is a lovely, well kept, super friendly and laid back place. When we arrived, it was empty save from some friendly enough customers. The coffee was good, the seats were comfortable and the place looked and felt new even though I'm not sure that it is. It's a good 'Bucks and the staff clearly maintain it. Good for a good coffee!

Called in at 6.50pm to grab a coffee to be told they are closed even though their doors were open and people sitting in there so checked their opening hrs and they don't close until 7pm absolutely fuming

Lively place to grab a coffee and a bite to eat and have a chat, staff are amazing and friendly the manager lianna is so helpful and considerate 😀

This Starbucks has to be one of the best I've been to - and I've been to many!! Staff , especially the manager and the barista Peter were so friendly and helpful. The cafe itself was spotless and the environment ideal for either working in or spending time with friends. Love this store highly recommend !!

Their tea was the most undrinkable I’ve ever tasted. Besides being lukewarm the teabag is mostly plastic, I couldn’t get the tea to brew. Service was flat the waitress looked so gloomy I felt I was intruding her space.

I have to say I am super impressed with this Starbucks now. The improvements in hygiene and customer service is incredible. I was made a perfect coffee by a lovely lady called Anna - will definit6be coming here more often now. What a difference. Highly recommend

Ridiculous. Everyone I come to this Starbucks I have to queue for at least 10-15 minutes. There's only ever 1 member of staff on in the morning and the queue is literally out of the door. Not the best experience

First time ever visiting a Starbucks today and I wanted to try a caramel drink id seen posted on the internet from America so no idea what I was really asking for. The staff (women and man - didnt catch their names) were amazing. I showed them a photo and rough ingredients and they made the rest up. It was delicious! So friendly to talk to while i waited too. Definitely go back and definitely recommend this new caramel drink. Thank you so much.

Visited today (29th March) and was really surprised how dirty the place was after many visits over the past couple years..I’d have thought it would be deep cleaned regularly with everything going on? The lady serving was frankly rude and it seemed like it was a hassle I ordered anything! She had her mate hanging out at the end of the counter which seemed a bit unprofessional ..they laughed at me trying to carry 3 coffees out without a quad cup holder..no offer to help get the door etc.. I used to visit every week at least but after that experience I will not be again.

Great coffee and easy to find. The staff were friendly. They were out of special but still enjoyable.

Never experienced a Starbucks like it - they made me feel like I really belonged. I used to go for the whole day and used their wifi. They never made me feel awkward for staying so long. Thanks!

Entering we got told they had ‘run out’ of pumpkin spice. I’ve never been to McDonald’s to be told they’ve run out of burgers! When finding a seat, we noticed none of the 6 spare seating areas were clean. Crumbs and spilt drinks, this confirms they have no concern about COVID and the government guidelines. We had to clean and sanitize our table and chairs. Only when we had sat down did a staff member clean the remaining areas. But this was quick and not a thorough sanitation of the areas. Shocking from a huge company. Will not be returning.

We asked for a tea and was given earl grey tea, when I took it back after almost getting to the motorway before realising I was informed they was out of tea bags, but why would you substitute it for earl grey and not even mention this! Wow! had a refund.

Visited this morning for breakfast on the way to a meeting. Delicious porridge and great cup of tea but there were unpleasant drops of something unidentifiable left in my cup when I finished, and the seats were covered in crumbs. At 8am. Also, the toilets obviously hadn't been cleaned for a while. Won't stop here again.

Staying next door at the Travelodge, the Cross Hands Starbucks was perfect for evening sandwiches (including Gluten Free) and morning coffee, without having to venture more than 20 meters from the hotel!Friendly staff, good service - everything you'd expect from a Starbucks.Thank you for the free milk for our daughter.Only downside was the tables need to be cleaned and washed more often.

This is a Starbucks so you know what you are going to get. The coffee tasted fine, good selection of sandwiches and cakes. Toilets were a little battered but the staff were exceptional; very friendly, fast, efficient and made it a much smoother process in a busy coffee shop - let's face it we have all been in a shop where getting your drinks has been a messy scrum! Felt as though Starbucks was there for my benefit rather than the other way round - which is all too often the case.

I'm not a coffee lover, but half way through a long drive, I needed a cup of tea and a rest. I had my own travel mug with me and the lady behind the counter offered to fill it for me rather than tip my tea in later.She was extremely helpful. The tea was good and I arrived home tired, but rested.Thanks

Toilets blocked and dirty. No toilet paper. Food on floor. No decaf coffee. A truly miserable experience.

The Starbucks at Cross Hands services is pretty basic to look at and can be a bit draughty inside, but the toasties are very tasty and the jazz playing in the background makes it worth a stop before joining the M4 at Swansea for the journey back to London.It also seems pretty quiet, so you shouldn’t have to wait long to be served.

Went in for coffee,the place was a mess.Rubbish everywhere not a clean table in sight .Went in to use the toilet and walked straight out I spoke to the girl at the counter and told her it needs to be cleaned .She went and changed the toilet paper but she did not clean the toilets.

Used to frequent this place when it was a Little Chef and occasionally now call in for a Starbucks coffee. My latte last week tasted bitter and not the usual smoothness that I usually love. My husband also thought that his latte was not as nice either. Before I left I asked if they had changed their roast and the waitress behind the counter said she didn't know and would ask her colleague. The reply I had was that no but perhaps the coffee needed changing!!! Others have mentioned on here about the toilets, sadly they have NEVER been upgraded since they took over from Little Chef, hence the red tiles and disgusting and unhygienic appearance of them. Personally I only use them when I am really desperate. Think I will be using Costa in future as they are only across the road in the new shopping centre.

Staff were not at all busy (we arrived 3pm on a weekday) but no one could be bothered to clean or even clear the tables. Toilets are cramped and in need of maintenance. The whole place looked tired and unhygienic. Will definitely not be returning.

Trash overflowing from the bins outside. Men's bathroom was absolutely filthy. Smelly. This place needs to be shutdown by health inspectors. Also grossly understaffed.

So it’s 13.30 and I’ve just gone to sit down with a sandwich and a pastry. Where to sit ? Well if I hadn’t been dropped off waiting repairs to my vehicle, I wouldn’t have chosen to sit down. This is quite a large place, with just a handful of people, and every where is dirty. The floors, crumbs everywhere, empty sugar packets; the tables, with more crumbs, stains from the last customer (at best). The chairs, are more than tired, with more dubious stains on the ‘comfy’ fabric chairs, with the pattern almost disappeared on most where so many bums have been sat. The decor, dark wood panelling is chipped and scruffy. Two staff members chatting behind the counter. This could be the worst Starbucks in the United Kingdom, or at least be a front runner. It’s like Starbucks forgot this one and is slowly running it down. In the meantime, those of us who love the coffee are cheated of the real SB experience, with the exception of the usual high prices. I would not recommend it in your business or work attire. Oh, and don’t forget to wipe your feet on the way out. I’m off to wash my hands

I've visited this branch many times and thought it was average. great coffee but usually dirty and staff aren't very friendly. But an absolutely awful visit today and I won't be returning. A disabled man had arrived in the night and there were no disabled bays left available and I could see him becoming visibly distressed that he couldn't get into his car. I asked the staff members if they knew who the car belonged to and straight away one of the girls (tall with long dark hair tied in a pony tail) started raising her voice at me calling me stupid for not parking in a disabled bay. she wouldn't let me speak to explain it wasn't me and that no disabled bays were available when the customer had parked. She said she would move her car when she had finished serving the other customers so I returned to my table. She then slammed her apron down on the counter and slammed out into the car park, flung her arms towards the disabled bays and mouthed "disabled space" at me with a very angry face on. She then got in her car and sped at a ridiculous speed into another space, got out and slammed her door still ranting about having to move her car. I saw the man thank her for moving her car and she carried on stamping forward with an angry face on. I didn't enjoy my coffee at all because I felt so angry at someone behave like this over a simply request, there was no need for any of it. Prior to this incident she had been standing at the counter chatting to a friend for at least 10 minutes. As an experienced retail manager, it seems pretty obvious to me that the management here is very poor if behaviour like this is allowed to occur.

Appalling attitude from your barrista this morning. She'd blocked in a car which belonged to a wheelchair-bound customer. He'd used an ordinary space, because the disabled spaces were taken. He was going round the tables asking whose car it was. Another customer asked the barista if the car was hers - which resulted in a full on rant about how disabled customers should use the disabled bays and she'd only move her car when she was ready. She eventually moved it, with a lot of attitude and more aggressive comments about using the disabled spaces. She upset the wheelchair bound man and the other customer who was just trying to help him. Absolutely shocking behaviour. My husband is also in a wheelchair, so I will never go there again.

I frequently visit here. However on this occasion, I was greatly disappointed by the cleanliness of the toilets.

Last visited this Starbucks in July whilst staying at the Travelodge opposite, in November I again stayed at the Travelodge so again had breakfast at this Starbucks. Nothing has really changed since my last visit but it is the most convenient place to get a breakfast whilst staying at the Travelodge.

The staff is friendly enough - the food is standard fayre. Time to liven up the menu a little.

Staff are great in this Starbucks, always so friendly. You can spend time having a coffee and either doing some work or catching up with friends

Called in on a cold wet Saturday, ordered two coffees and two muffins, after waiting 6 minutes I was handed a single coffee, I patiently waited and was abruptly asked 'what are you waiting for?' I explained that I'd ordered two coffees and the staff member rolled his eyes and passed me my other one, which was already prepared, the coffee was barely lukewarm and I'd say matched the service here exactly, will not visit again, will definitely not recommend, keep driving there's another coffee shop in pontabraham!!!

I called here before meeting a friend as I had time to spare. I ordered an ice coffee and a skinny blueberry muffin. The coffee was fine - although very warm to begin with until the ice took effect - when having coffee at Costa I do not get this issue as it is cold as soon as I receive it. The muffin was ok but nothing to write home about. I thought the taste of egg was overpowering in the muffin and took away from the taste of the blueberries. I find there is a poor choice in Starbucks of healthy food. The food that does appear 'healthy' is often laden with sugar/calories or is very expensive - a deliciously Ella energy ball was £2.50! Although I appreciate this is an issue with coffee chains as a whole. I would call again but it wouldn't be my first choice when going to Cross Hands. On a positive there is plenty of room to sit and the staff were very friendly.

Café bien. Un montón de formación personal que hace el servicio es lento. Aunque agradable. Siempre limpia y ordenada. Lugar de encuentro muy práctico.

Café, débiles y pobres sin sabor. Sin cacao en polvo ofrecieron al pendiente de mi capuchino. La música estaba muy alta, tonto ya que se anuncian como disponibles para reuniones. La cabina de aseo era agobiante. Tienes que exprimir la vuelta de la puerta con el fin de cierran antes de que pueda sentarse. Caro

Fuimos a el lugar para un café tranquilo y eso es lo que yo tenía. El personal es amable y muy servicial. También se puede llevar el café si necesitas el precio es bueno para lo que tiene.

Staff not very friendly, try smiling. No marshmallows really? Next my daughter 6 went into the toilets. Checked called her name. She was locked in the toilet could not get out. Got a member of staff, explaining that it's a new lock? First test it to see it works properly. Mens toilet covered in urine, need more staff? Or try a part time cleaner. Grubby in places, for a Starbucks shocking standard. Not impressed.

Decent enough, but grubby but service was friendly and very quick. Was cold and lots of stuff left on tables ie dirty cups etc so they could do more to keep it clean. But for a place to meet off the motorway its ok.

Met a friend here for coffee one week day evening as I thought it would be a nice change. As we arrived the place was pretty busy but we were quick to be served. Sadly I would not recommend visiting here, due to the following reasons:Its absolutely freezing cold, we kept our coats on and hugged our coffees just to keep warm!!The staff are pretty miserable and didn't even speak to you when handing you your coffee- just plonked the coffee on the counter and walked away. The toilets were dirty and for some reason even colder.Finally most tables were left uncleared for the duration we were there.

We all know what Starbucks is, expensive average coffee with over priced nibbles. This review assumes we know and understand Starbucks and so the 2 star does not reflect the food or drink. You will struggle to find a Starbucks with worst customer service. However if your passing Cross Hands then you've very little alternatives. If you do visit, dont be afraid to disturb the staff from their chitchat (after all they are not paid to chat) and at the end of the day eye contact, politeness and effort wont make the coffee taste any better.

I have called her a few times and have no issue with the drink/food quality. I do find the service can be a bit hit or miss though and it has nothing to do with how busy/quiet the store has been. The toilet cubicles are also small (I am a size 8 and trying to get in and out of there with a bag as well is difficult.

It is great to have a nice coffee shop to meet a friend!Plenty of choices of coffee and tasty snacks!I had a latte that had a great mild flavour and a tasty croissant with cheese and ham! There was a selection of cakes and cookies!The staff were very efficient!

Despite several staff on duty and only 4 ahead of me in the queue I waited 5 minutes before giving up. (There was little sign of being served within another 5 minutes...) Starbucks is usually so much more efficient.

I visited today at 3.45 to the store in cross hands in the hope of using my vouchers that I previously received. As we arrived there was 2 members of staff cleaning. One was cleaning the floor and 1 was cleaning the cake counter. I looked to see what time the store was closing and it was 8. They had closed a section of the coffee shop off and were mopping the floor. The girl behind the counter proceeded to ignore us. We stood there for 5 minutes and eventually she turned round. The lady I was with said to the young girl, "I thought we were invisible" and she said "I was cleaning the counter' in quite an abrupt manner. I find this is in no way acceptable for a member of staff to treat customers. I work in a competitive coffee shop and in no way would my manager let me speak to a customer or even ignore them in such way. There really needs to be a manager or at least a supervisor present to tell these young girls that customers come first. Probably will be my last visit unfortunately. This starbucks is usually quite a hostile place but it was much better last week. There was a bit of a wait as they are slow to serve but once we had our food and drinks it was quite pleasant. Sandwiches and toasties were good and there was a good selection of cakes. Plenty of parking too.

We stopped in for a drink as we continued our journey through Wales, and found the shop adequately clean, and tables well bused. That said the hot drinks were thrown together quickly and the latte was heavily foamed thus without full volume in the cup, and the hot chocolate (twice in one trip) was on the milky side and lacked richness. The staff could try harder to make a positive impression.

Went to Starbucks cross hands for a business meeting today and I have to comment on the fantastic service we received. A large table was reserved for us as requested along with a great bundle offer on food and drink. We were served by Sasha who was a very attentive, friendly and efficient young lady. She went over and above what was required of her and is a credit to the Starbucks team. Look forward to returning in the near future and would highly recommend to friends and colleagues.

I have to say i prefer costa for taste but this is a useful stop for work. Place is quite dirty and sticky and not clean. Service can be slow sometimes and generally its not the best experience, its main feature is its ease off the motorway.

Coffee is always of the Starbucks standard but the place feels run down already and it's not been in Cross Hands long. Staff are often hit or miss and unfortunately I seem to always call when they are short staffed!Convenient location but not a welcome comfortable place to visit.

We often call here after work as it is convenient for a few of us. Where it's always nice to meet the girls for a quick drink I'm a bit dubious about calling again. Staff were quick and friendly enough but the place is very hostile. You'd never suspect christmas is only a few weeks away as there were hardly any festive decorations. One side was full of people on their laptops clearly working- we'd come here to avoid work so wasn't the best atmosphere. Toilet were clean it's just a shame you have to climb down the side of the toilet in order to close the toilet door as the cubicles are so small. Will avoid for a while.

Went in on a personal issue and the lady in charge was the most helpful. She took my issue and was very helpful... and to top it off, she gave me a free drink! One of the best coffee houses there is in South Wales

Seem to always stop off here for a coffee when we are travelling! It's very convenient and quick service! Will be back again! No doubt!

Visit because of staying at the travelodge got a 10% discount and quite friendly staff and quick service free wifi which is quick

Visited this Starbucks on the way back from holiday in Ireland (from Pembroke Dock). The toilets were absolutely disgusting. My four year old son was gagging as he did his wee, such was the stench. I had to tell him repeatedly to avoid touching anything. The toilets had clearly not been cleaned for weeks. I will never stop here again. The relevant staff should be ashamed. The worst I have seen: I did take a photo but couldn't bring myself to keep it on my phone!

Often visit this branch but found today that the chocolate sponge and lemon cake were surprisingly much smaller than on previous visits, but prices remain the same! Would suggest Starbucks return to previous portion control otherwise customers might very well stop buying their food. Such a shame as I really like visiting this branch because of very pleasant, efficient and courteous staff and tasty food and great mint tea, but might have to go elsewhere as it doesn't represent good value for money.

Nice easy place to go to, especially after a gym work out. I don't drink coffee but do enjoy hanging out there with a cold smoothie setting the world right with the girls. Really friendly staff and a big specious place with plenty of seating. Just a shame it doesn't stay open later!!

Went here after a very long day of travelling/shopping since 8am in the morning and by 5.30pm I hadn't had my caffeine fix and when my headache hit, it hit hard! So when I saw this place it was a god send! Quick service, nice coffee and after ten minutes headache gone! So thanks Starbucks for being there! :-).

Me and my friend meet here occasionally and my friend is not a fan of coffee and would prefer tea. Now I understand that it is a coffee shop but tea is on the menu. The last two times we've been they have not sold tea. So I mentioned it this time saying that it isn't really good that they have no tea. Lady explained that they've 'run out' I could appreciate it if it was a busy Saturday afternoon but considering its a Tuesday night and half 6 and this is the second time now it is a bit questionable. The place itself is lovely but I don't quite get why they haven't got tea. And also we were staying in but we're given takeaway mugs as was everyone else even though the place didn't close for another hour and a half. Quite strange. Luckily there isn't another close coffee shop around or they would have some serious competition.

I've given other reviews on this place and said that it wasn't clean enough etc and that the staff weren't that friendly, but recently I have been there twice and its very nice. The food is very good and the staff friendly especially Jade. Its good to meet friends there for a chat and a catch up or have a quick snack before setting out on a journey. Can recommend it apart from ladies toilets, one toilet area is fine but the other two are very small indeed and no hook on the door for handbags etc. Well done staff for making it a pleasant place to be.
