Starbucks in Reading

Poor quality and service, £3.70 for a SMALL black Americano (ie no milk or skill required) should be amazing but far from it. Just a plain old Starbucks coffee. Served with monosyllabic generally grumpy lady who sadly doesn’t enjoy her job - my advice, go to Costa!

I ordered an iced caramel latte and I was given a vanilla bean frappuccino. No caramel in sight. They also got my name wrong on the cup and wouldn't give me a business receipt.

I went to the reading train station Starbucks on the first of July at approximately 8.40am, firstly I asked the price difference between a regular and a large in which took quite some time for the lady to find out. She then asked for my name and wrote a completely different one on the cup. When I told her that was not my name, she completely ignored me. After asking again and her not doing anything, I gave up. When I received my Ice vanilla latte it was boiling hot. Within minutes the ice had completely melted. With both my coffee and my mums tea being nearly £9 I would expect a much higher level of customer service as well as quality. This has definitely tarnished my view of Starbucks.

Typical Starbucks, pleasant but disninterested service (once you've paid your money, they're not interested in telling you where to collect your drink for example). Good range of cakes (espresso brownie is delicious) but the hot drinks are insipid and short on flavour. Would prefer a Costa, or better, a proper independent coffee vendor.

Absolutely appalling, very bitter and grainy mocha, tasted as if the machine hadn't been cleaned for a month. Not recommended.

Visited the Starbucks opposite the station on Monday whilst on my many visits for work to Reading. I always go to Starbucks, I asked to use the Vitality app, and was told they do not take it, i said oh, thats a shame. i dont know what the person behind the till, Kaye misinterpritated it as but I got an earful stating they was no part of Starbucks, they were a part of the hotel. The approach was dreadful. Didn't even get my receipt and was pushed away from the till quicker than ever with dirty looks coming my way. Did not expect that. I will be taking this further!

Coming here in for coffee is the highlight of my day - Kaye and her team are fantastic. Highly recommended stop on your way to work conveniently located next to the station.

Everyday I look forward to going into my favourite Starbucks store as I know that I’ll be welcomed with Nattie’s friendly face. She does everything she can to make sure I have the best experience. Shout out to the rest of the Starbucks team, Kaye, Lucy, Lilla and Sonia.

As a regular to this coffee house, I love the friendly greetings and smiling faces that greet you every day...rain or shine. Always happy to let you try something new out and play the "name guessing game". A real pick me up for a dreary day in the office...especially when Lucy, Kaye and Lilly are behind the "barista bar".

When I try to make a complaint about the manager ‘kaye’ on the Instagram account as I’ve no other way I get blocked on both accounts?!

I don’t normally drink tea or coffee, but I had to buy a coffee for one of my employees. Looked at this ice tea thing to get was advertising and thought I’d give it a go. Amazing Drink served with a lovely smile from the lady called Kay.

As a committed traveller I would like to extend my fondness to the staff at Starbucks @ the Mal in Reading . Best service bar none and they always know what I want in advance as im a regular and have noticed that they do the same for lots of people but make it a personal thing each and every time . Lead by Kaye the manager the team are polite and always happy to help even when very busy . I have been to Starbucks all around the world and this is my favourite by far . Keep up the good work you are a hidden treasure .

Always a joy to purchase my breakfast at this Starbucks however poor the train journey has been. The friendly staff, well led by Kaye the manager, take an interest in your day in a non-intrusive way and service is always quick. Thanks to Kaye and the team and keep up the good work!!!

I've been coming to this location for months now. The staff are amazing - courteous, competent and so very friendly. They know my order, which I have at least 5 times a week and even the temperature I like to drink it at. They'll all be sadly missed when I return to Thailand.

The baristas at this location inside the Reading Malmaison are fabulous - very kind and they even remembered my order during my 6-night stay!

Being a regular of this Starbucks I realised i should leave a review. Kaye and the team do a great job as it can get quite busy due to location (by the station) but they are always working hard to keep the queues down but the standards up.

A regular at this Starbucks, always great service and warm welcome especially by Kaye. I always look forward to her making my coffee as she is always creative with her designs! Highly recommend!

This is one of my favourite coffee shops. I've never had a bad experience there and I'm pretty regular. All of the staff are lovely and friendly and welcoming but a special mention has to go to Courtney. She always goes out of her way to make my visit special. She makes up bespoke frappuccinos for me with a new flavour for every visit. I turned 40 last month and when I turned up at Starbucks to buy my drink, Courtney had left instructions for a special birthday drink for me and also had decorated a cup especially for my birthday!!! It was awesome!!! There are loads of branches of Starbucks in Reading and this is the best one by far. I recommend that if you're in Reading, this is the branch that you choose.

The caramel fraps are lovely. The coffee is pretty strong but sweet. It's extremely expensive but really nice. I would only recommend this place if you have a sweet tooth. I really enjoyed my frap (which I had coffee based) and would like to return.

Having slated Starbucks and other coffee chains in the past few weeks it is refreshing to have visited this store and observing the staffs attention to detail. On all three mornings the staff were very attentive and have paid attention to the overall cleanliness of the store. It was pleasant to sit in these surroundings. Other stores take note

As a Starbucks regular I like most others believe if it says starbucks on it , it should be starbucks. Ordered 3 takeaway coffees which were all personalised and tasted ok. Went to pay and as a gold starbucks member got my card out and was told "oh no we are not starbucks "

I go in here most lunchtimes and all of the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. There's a barista called Kay who is absolutely lovely and very efficient. Always a nice, calm atmosphere in here and service is very quick. However, today I went in there and was served by a girl called Emma who was not as friendly as the others and was actually quite rude. She also shouted a very rude comment at another member of staff in front of customers which I thought was very unprofessional. There's always one! The rest of the staff in here are really nice though so it was a shame she let them down. Will not let that put me off though :-)

The shop seemed clean and the staff were friendly. Was in a rush and stopped by as it is handy, being located near to the station. Coffee not great, did not think it tasted particularly strong. Around £3 for a medium cappucinno and £4 for a medium mocha which is on the dear side for this kind of coffee.

I went to order a Vanilla Latte. Now I know exactly how they taste and they all ask me if I want a new blend etc this time they didn't. Anyway so I sipped it and it tasted weird but I thought maybe she put the wrong syrup and it's like ginger or something. Anyway I went home and oh my I had the worst ever stomach ache. I knew for a fact it was the latte served by them. I didn't eat or drink anything unusual or new that day.

Friendly staff, nice place - and very importantly, free WiFi and lots of power sockets! Had a very productive 90 minutes there.

I love Starbucks coffee and tend to choose them over other coffee brands. I popped into this Starbucks and ordered my regular blend of coffee and had the exact amount of cash to hand. When I came to pay, I was 15p short. I asked if the prices had recently gone up as I'd bought a coffee in London the day before, which was cheaper. I was told that the prices are more expensive because the Starbucks is attached to the hotel. I was very disappointed as there was no indication that I'll be charged more. In future, I'll go to the Starbucks further up the road but feel a bit cheated by this one.

Nice Starbucks next to the station and within Malmaison. Good to sit and have a coffee before a meeting.

Went in to pick up a quick espresso frappucino to go. Very good and just the same as any Starbucks. Right across from the Reading Station in the Malmaison.

Nice, typical, friendly, efficient service with delicious coffee. Very convenient for the station and the Malmaison Hotel.

8:22 on a cold Monday morning. After the terrible coffee I had in the Starbucks across the road, I happened upon another branch in The Oracle and they had Earl Grey tea in stock. Very nice it is too, Starbucks sell the best earl grey tea in the world ever.

We stayed here for going 4hours on a Sunday,we kept the staff company and purchased a few drinks,waiting for group member and completing group presentation.

It is a quick place to come a collect a take away coffee and a quick snack, I think it is a quite a good idea to have your name written on your coffee cup as you make your order not many coffee shops do that ! I come here with my work colleagues when we have an area meeting ! It is a short walk from the train station just before you get to broad street with all the shops !!
