Starbeck Tandoori Tandoori Restaurant Take Away in Harrogate

Old school curry house, which I personally like. Food was abit shy of the mark considering this is a highly rated curry house in Harrogate. Onion bhaji was a re-fry, not good, salad was basic, chicken balti overspiced and drowned in oil. Prices the same as anywhere else not great value overall.

People rave about this place. I prefer the Jinnah in Harrogate. This place is not for me.

Normally eat very well here.although on this occasion food not so good...took it back and they could t help enough offering extras..even tho I didn't take them I appreciated the gesture.the replacement dish was good.

Excellent hot food and service. Went on a Wednesday and pre-booked luckily as every table was taken. Table server very attentive when required but we never felt rushed. Would highly recommend.

Worst Indian takeaway ever!waste of money

It is so disappointing, starters were so dry&burnt,pikora had little bit tiny bit of chicken, tikka masala prawns is like rubber!definitely not coming back

Wow, after recently relocating to Harrogate we have been trying to find an Indian restaurant/takeaway. After seeing the reviews we were looking forward to trying Starbeck. However we can honestly say it’s probably the most disappointing and non authentic Indian we have tried. Previously we have been extremely spoilt from probably the best Indian restaurant in England - Bhukara, near Preston. Starbeck is an ok little restaurant but unfortunately the food was a disappointment.

I got a takeaway after this place was recommended. It was dreadful. When i opened the bag it was dripping with oil. The first time i have had a rogan josh with no sauce, it was dry, and tasteless, the rice stodgy mess, and the tandoori roti that tough it was difficult to pull apart. Would avoid this restaurant judging on my meal tonight. Should be ashamed serving garbage like that

The food was bland and oily. The staff were friendly enough. Basic chutneys. Plates had chips (not edible ones) just generally OK.

Good food and service but a bit cramped. There were 8 of us but only enough room for 6 on the table.

Been back here a few times now. A really excellent tandoori for dine in or takeaway. The restaurant is actually pretty small and they do pack in a lot of tables but service was still quick. As a local gem, you'll want to book in advance for Friday's and Saturdays. Highly recommended. Will certainly be going back next time we fancy a curry night.

It is absolutely not worth it to go. I am an Indian and I have indian food everyday and the dishes made are not outstanding. They do not have enough vegetarian varieties and do not serve dessert and many juices . The quantity of curries served are also very less . They do not serve enough food for the amount we pay and the ambience is not great and has cramped dining spaces. The quality of the bill is highly unprofessional , they just write down the amount you have to pay without any items listed . The currys are too oily . I would definitely suggest spice culture for Indian type food , they are much better in quality, quantity and taste

Tried takeaway for the first time as our usual choice wasn't open... Poppadoms were delicious but our main courses were really disappointing- we ordered different dishes that tasted very similar, .... the online menu gives no clue as to what's in the dishes but after googling I made a choice and my husband was told it was "medium" when he rang in our order which was fine... but on tasting I couldn't eat it, the flavour just wasn't right... such a waste. Will not be ordering again.

The food from here is absolutely delicious, one of the best curry houses around, we had a takeaway from here last night , near enough £40 for 2 mains rice naan bread poppadoms, I have to say pretty outrageous amount for a takeaway. I’m sorry to say but we won’t be back.

Lovely little place, not many tables, so booking is advisable. Food is the best I have had in a long, long time.

I came across this restaurant while out walking the dog and could smell it from down the street. Of course my nose took over and wanted to find out where it was coning from. Went the other evening, we recieved a warm welcome and seated straight away, the staff were brilliant and attentive and if Indian/tandoori food is what you seek I can highly recommend!

This establishment has it down to a fine art. I really like the Shali dishes and the tandoori chicken is excellent. Staff are always pleasant and welcoming.

Got here early doors ,was a few in when arrived . Very friendly service ,ordered chicken balti Rogan ,with a side dish ,with a plain nan (it's a unwritten rule must have a nan :)) was very quick to table ,the best compliment I can give is I had too much (sometimes forget not 20)also cleared the plate ,was filling up as I left , overall excellent

That was nothing short of a disgrace. The mix grill was dry as a bone. If you cut meat into tiny chunks then it's never going to be succulent. It says something when the onions are the best part of a dish. The Naan bread was awful. Probably the worst I've ever had. I can only presume this has changed hands. 4.7 stars, behave yourselves!! At least the dog got a good feed.

Food is the best tandoori I have ever tasted, nowhere else has even come close. Make sure you give it a shot as I guarantee 100% you will not be disappointed for sure! I live abroad and one of the first things I plan on doing when I return for vacation is coming here for some grub, it’s that good. Period.

Never been before but heard some really good things. The meal was absolutely amazing and the staff are exemplary. That's the first time I've ever had a naan bread so fluffy and not full of grease! Looking forward to going again/having a take away

A surprising little gem tucked away on Starbeck High Street - not many tables so it's worth booking but fantastic tasty food and great service. Obviously hugely popular in the area judging by the constant stream of customers coming for takeaway and all tables were occupied while we were there. Overheard several comments from other tables praising meals. Not the biggest menu but I would always choose a smaller selection done well. Recommended.

Fantastic food and the owners are lovely

Used to be great. First time I ordered a Jalfrezi it was amazing. But recently (last 2 times) they got the orders wrong and the food is noticeably worse. The last time I ordered and they have me something completely different that seemed rushed with a lot of onion, no flavour and lots of oil. My friend was sick after finishing his meal. I couldn't have been more disappointed!

The food is lovely. But it's expensive for Starbeck. The staff are lovely too. The Manager/owner ? Who sometimes works in the restaurant, is a bit aloof (unfriendly) to the point of being rather rude. I'd hate to work for him. It would put me off going in , if the other staff weren't there. He's always like that, so it's not just a one off. Other staff seem to be tense around him.

My favourite curry house. Very friendly staff and excellent food. The house special chicken tikka balti is my favourite curry in the world - and I have had more than a few!

What a great Tandoori restaurant, they had plenty of seating with an inviting atmosphere. The staff are pleasant and happy to help with an extensive menu and take home what u can't eat. New regular for us.
