Absolutely fantastic meal and service

Been going here for a couple of years now. Food is always good and the staff are great too.

The order upon collecting it and unpacking it at home was short of a vegetable rice and a Plain Naan was provided instead of the Peshwari Naan ordered. Not a good start on a nine item order for 3 people. The food was bland to taste with no spicing to speak of, the mix shashlick was cold upon serving, the cauliflower bhaji was like mashed cauliflower, since when has a bhaji not been deep fried and crispy, the Tandoori Chicken Masala sauce was sweet practically 90% tomato puree and masala spicing. Overall an underwhelming culinary experience and we won't be heading back any time soon. Far better tasting and quality food eaten from other local Indian Restaurants.

London's best Indian restaurant. Extremely innovative menu. Each & every menu item is very creative & made with special delicacy. I really enjoyed & literally spent time reading their different menus & underlying description. It's really great to see the efforts in selecting ingredients.

Fantastic food as always...constantly good Good portions and friendly service.

Food was quite greasy & I really didn't enjoy it. The service was slow & the staff were more interested in the larger tables of people. I won't be eating here again.

We have been going to this restaurant for 25 years and it has always been great. On this occasion, we shared onion bhajees and sheesh kebabs for starters, followed by Achari chicken, chicken tikka Masala, and a chicken balti, with pilau rice, plain, garlic and peshwari nans. Everything was fresh and delicious. Great staff and atmosphere. Highly recommended. They deliver.

After poppadoms and dips, I went for the chicken balti keshri as my main, which I’ve not had before. It comes with a plain naan and I added chana sag as a side. The main was delicious - flavoursome sauce, good quality chicken, generous portions… I didn’t feel I needed to add rice. I would definitely have this dish again. Thank you Star of India for providing plenty of options for those of us who don’t like overpowering spice-heat, which many restaurants seem to use to mask the flavour of their food.

This restaurant has a good range of fine Indian food, from the expected kormas, madrases and vindaloos to some more unusual dishes. It is best to book but not always necessary. A restaurant that is always popular with the locals and usually fairly busy. Tables are spaced adequately so you won't be squashed but sometimes the tables could be bigger to fit all the dishes that have been ordered. Well worth a visit.

Excellent food with superb service.

I've eaten here a few times it is actually one of my favourite indians compared to others. Good value and generous portions, atmosphere is very ambiotic and peaceful. Service not bad my only complaint is nan bread always seems burnt but other than that deserve 5 stars i highly recommend and will return.

Used to eat in here years ago. Moved back into the area and ordered the non-vegetarian thali for delivery tonight. There is enough for 2 people. I have frozen half for another night as was so full. I dished up half and struggled to finish it. Just wish I could have ordered a can of Pepsi max also. Came nice and hot, I do live very close by. Good value neal delivered by a nice friendly guy.

Always a great night with great food

Can't really say much else other than a perfect evening. I had the lamb and keema rice and the lamb just fell apart which is rare to get. The layout is decent which means plenty of space. The staff were there when needed which meant I didn't have to look around not once.

This is without a shadow of a doubt the best Indian within a 100 mile radius of its location, the food is exceptional, the guys who work there are all gentleman and very welcoming, and if you pick up your order you get a 10% discount. If I could give them 10 stars I would.. perfection 🖒

Not authentic Indian but Indo Bangla fusion.

Not been here for several years, nice to see the same family own and run it. Five of us had a fabulous meal, as delicious as I remember it being. Good portion sizes, food served hot and waiters polite.

We were recommended to go here, We had dinner here yesterday & we find the food very Excellent and money worth we will highly recommend to have dinner here.

ok it was Saturday night but my god,the service was atrocious.it was my mums birthday and our table was booked for 7 but we had to keep chasing up the waiters for someone to take our order.then the drinks,then they didn’t bother asking all of us before walking off.then the drinks were wrong.after the starters and ordering our mains we were waiting an hour and a half.finally got our food just before 9.45.mine was luke warm.just an awful time.waiters were just running around like headless chickens bumping into each other.asked for cream with the coffee and they brought milk.just give us the bill.p.s it seemed so much better when Ali was there but we heard he left.shame

Have been visiting this restaurant for a while now and definitely the best in the area for quality of food and flavour. In my opinion they do the nicest sag paneer!! Decided to try a takeaway from here and was surprised that the quality was just as nice as eating in.

New to Eltham and our first visit to an Indian Restaurant in the area. What a great choice. Delicious flavours and great portion sizes. Good value for money too. Friendly staff and great atmosphere with a great roomy layout of the restaurant. Can’t wait to visit again.

Possibly worse takeaway ever ordered, inedible. Cold Mateer paneer, burnt naan that was meant to be peshwari but was plain, watery vegetable masala. Had better curry’s from the supermarket. Never again.

We went for dinner at the Star of India recently and had a fantastic experience. The service was impeccable and staff incredibly attentive. The food was excellent too and served quickly. This restaurant is a hidden gem on Eltham High Street!

The best food flavours bursting with fresh veg and salad,mixed shashlik was delicious korai chicken was fab and we were waited on hand and foot,would highly recommend restaurant

Loved the food and atmosphere of the place. There were only two tables including me and another family, yet my friend and I had a blast eating there. The staff seemed very friendly. It was casual yet classy, and very clean for the price of the food offered.

Just moved to the area and what a treat to have an Indian restaurant with really nice food within walking distance! On our table we had 5 different dishes plus the usual rice , nans etc . They were all really good and I will definitely be returning

Just enjoyed a £30 feast with friends here in New Eltham. Service was fast and friendly and the food was some of the best I’ve had since arriving in London weeks ago. Highly recommend this place!

I have lived in Eltham all my life and only recently discovered this little Gem of an Indian restaurant and I tell you what, I have been missing out!! The food is spot on every time, the service is excellent and it has this authentic feel to it which you could not recreate. Overall a fantastic spot with great food and excellent service at a reasonable price.

Staff at the restaurant especially Supz were very lovely. The meal was one of the best Indians I’ve ever had, the naan bread was so light and fluffy 10/10 for taste.

Visited today with family. Star of India has always been a firm favourite with us all.

We stumbled across this lovely Indian after being turned away from the Italian a little further down at 9.30pm. The staff were more than happy to accomodate our needs and made our expectedly simple quiet meal, a lovely little event. The food was absolutely phenomenal and the service even better. Even though we were late arrivers we never felt pressured to rush or leave. Highly recommend this establishment if you want friendly service and an on point proper Indian meal. My partner and I visited for some dinner at around 6pm tonight. Service was excellent and food was lovely, we even took away what we couldnt eat to have for lunch the next day. Also offered a free sambuca which was a lovely finishing touch. Will definetly return!

Always greeted with a smile at the door. Excellent value for money. We have visited The Star many times and have never been disappointed with the quality of the food and service. We would highly recommend.

Welcomed in to the restaurant by a member of staff, no issue with us having a buggy with the baby in, they happily moved things about to make our night easier. Although they was quite busy, all our food came out together and there was no long wait either. Really happy with the quality of the food and will definitely be returning

After waiting an hour and half for our takeaway, we finally received it and we were hughly disappointment. We didn’t have a call to tell us they would be late and so had to call themselves. The poppadums were very greasy, the naan was luke warm, soggy and had a hole in the middle of it and overall we didn’t enjoy our meal. We have never used this restaurant before and we will never use them again.

The picture says it all....chicken tikka pink inside!!! Phoned up to warn them in which they were dismissive of me and said it’s the marinate they use on the chicken?? Inside it??? Avoid this place at all cost...!!!!

We come here a lot, always in a group of more than 20. The food is lovely no fault there at all but the staff are so unbelievably grumpy!! Barking at people and dumping food. It’s like they are furious we are putting £400 worth of business their way on a Tuesday night!!

La comida en general bien hecha, pero algo debe hacerse para garantizar que llegue a la mesa cuando están calientes. También encontramos un pequeño pelo en mi curry. Volveremos y esperamos conseguir una mejor experiencia.

La comida era extremadamente salado y el personal era grosero. Como tal nunca utilizará este restaurante de nuevo.
