Unfortunately, a very disappointing experience. The food generally was very tasty, but I started to feel unwell midway through the main course, and threw up shortly after leaving the restaurant, whilst my partner was ill later. I understand this is possible, but the response from the restaurant felt like disbelief initially, and then nothing. After the health and safety assessment completed by a third-party, I heard nothing else, and never received anything like an apology. To spend over £100 per head and then to be treated without courtesy was poor. The waiting staff were excellent, but I felt very let-down by the service from the management, and unfortunately it coloured the way I would see other JKS restaurants, several of which I have enjoyed very much previously.

Had a fabulous meal last night. It was our first visit and leaned heavily on the recommendations of the staff and were not disappointed. We enjoy flavorful and the Lamb was spot on, the spice was perfect for us. The sommelier’s recommendations were outside my experience but complimented the meal excellently.

Gymkhana definitely didn’t live up to the 2 Michelin-star expectations. While the service was decent it wasn’t anything exceptional. The food was good but nothing truly stood out. We ordered several dishes to meet the £100 cover charge for our table of three, but none of them impressed. The butter chicken was tasty but nothing I haven’t had before. The tandoori chicken and truffle biryani were a huge letdown, with off flavors that didn’t sit right. The pani puri was mediocre and the puris were rock hard making them difficult to break. To top it off the 15% service charge and the cover charge for tap water is totally absurd. The interiors were dated and lacked warmth. Overall not sure how this place holds its Michelin stars. Definitely not worth the hype.

Our experience at Gymkhana last night was nothing short of incredible! The food was outstanding, with the highlights being the fragrant and flavorful biryani, the perfectly spiced and indulgent butter chicken, and the tender, smoky lamb chops that were absolutely unforgettable. To top it all off, the masala margarita was a delightful surprise—so addicting, we couldn’t resist ordering another round. A special shoutout to Shohag, who provided exceptional service and truly went above and beyond to make our evening memorable. His attention to detail and warm hospitality added a personal touch that elevated the whole experience. Gymkhana has definitely set the bar high for Indian dining, and we can’t wait to return! Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a culinary treat paired with impeccable service.

Over hyped. Don't expect to be blown away. The food is great but the overall experience does not live up to its reputation. From dirty cutlery, banged up interior, crammed seating and lack luster service I can't say I will be returning. The food itself though, was good. Some of the best lamb chops and butter chicken I've had in London. My only gripe was with the spice levels of the starters. As someone who can handle spicy food, I thought some of the starters (king prawns, patiala chicken and green chutney) were unnecessarily spicy and drowned out the other flavours. Once you factor in the cost of everything it soon becomes clear reputation is keeping this establishment alive and there are better options around.

After a long wait, I finally had the chance to try this restaurant, and it did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was incredible, especially the keema, which was a standout dish. The lamb chops, however, were just okay. What truly made the experience special was the extraordinary service—attentive, friendly, and welcoming. It made the visit all the more enjoyable. We were very pleased with our lunch at Gymkhana. We sat in the private room downstairs and tried around 20 menu items! My entire party agreed that we didn’t have one bad bite the entire lunch - it was all delicious. We had fun trying their cocktails too - the margarita being a favorite in our group. I don’t think you can go wrong here! Service was excellent as well.

Sadly extremely disappointing experience. Very average food lacking the usual punch in flavours. Even the mango Lassi didnt take much like mango.. We were expecting more interesting taste profiles given it has two Michelin stars and also given how expensive it is. Minimum spend of 100£ per person for dinner, ended up paying over 350£ for 3 people including one person who didn’t drink any alcohol beverages… Service is nothing exceptional as well: they don’t explain properly all ingredients and taste profiles and don’t serve the food including the trickier ones like the big lamb piece which is much trickier to cut. Had to ask multiple times to get drinks on time. Finally, we were celebrating a birthday and asked for a little candle or something on dessert which never came. No real attention to customers. Overall, good was ok but not worth the price and the stuck up experience. Honestly, an Indian takeaway we got recently had much punchier flavours for 3 times cheaper. Only dish that stood out a bit was the shrimps , but then again you get 3 tiger shrimps for 33£…

Disappointed , actually quite sad about this one. Had really high expectations as reviews are glowing and it has two Michelin stars. Almost everything about our experience was underwhelming. First of all we were sat in a middle table for two so all we could hear were others conversations. I do feel like for a restaurant you are expected to spend a lot of money at (we placed a 200.00 deposit) that having a little privacy is fair. Service was average, nice waiters but we were given the wrong water and it was never topped up. Finally the food, I’ve honestly had better at dishoom. It felt rushed, food was no better than any Indian food I’ve tried in London. I really was expecting a lot from this restaurant, feel very disappointed.

After dining at Gymkhana last night, I found myself questioning on the Michelin star rating system. Our visit didn't quite meet the expectations we had for a two-star establishment. We were eager to enjoy a good Indian meal in London and decided to try Gymkhana. We opted for a four-course tasting menu, beginning with Pani Poori. The Poori could have been crisper, and the Pani lacked flavor. The shrimp course was overcooked on the outside and the curry again lacked flavor. For the main course, we sampled daal, chicken, butter chicken, shrimp curry, Lamb chops, and Biryani. Among these, the Lamb chops were notably enjoyable. The desserts, Falooda and Kheer, were pleasant, though not particularly outstanding. We also ordered a bottle of wine and five cocktails. Despite our polite refusals to second bottle of wine, staff kept asking if we wanted another bottle. After dining for just under two hours, we were politely asked by the staff if we could vacate our table for the next party. This request was surprising and not what we expected from a two-star Michelin restaurant experience. Considering the cost of £145 per person, plus cocktails, we felt that this Michelin star experience was overwhelmingly subpar. I wish we could say they were doing things interestingly or uniquely, but instead they are serving run of the mill Indian food in a not-so-well executed way. We have had wonderful experiences with Michelin-starred dining at places like France, Mexico City, San Francisco, Italy, and many other parts of the world, but this was way below any other experience we have had.

As most know, reservations at Gymkhana are hard to get, so we were happy we managed to get a lunch reservation. The restaurant embodies the spirit of elite dining and sports clubs of India, which is present in the overall vibe of the restaurant. The details in their decore and color palette are unique to each floor and provide a glimpse into the inspiring elements of the restaurant. We were seated on the lower ground floor, which is also where their bar is located. This floor definitely had intimate elite club vibes. We decided to order the lunch menu since it offered the items we would have ordered anyway. We also wanted to try their gol guppas, so ordered that off their a la carte menu. After ordering, we were served a basket of pappadum with 3 chutneys: mango, green/cilantro, and achari yogurt. All three chutneys were tasty, but I will say the achari yogurt was definitely unique and left me wanting more. The gol guppas (6) are served with a premixed potato and moong filling on the side, which also had the sweet chutney mixed in. The pani was presented in a small “cream jug.” Our server explained how to “assemble” and eat the gol guppa in one bite, “like a shot.” The pani was spicy, but the dish was fantastic and very traditional in flavor. For our appetizer, we ordered the aloo chaat, which was served in a shallow bowl. It was simply and cleanly presented with sev and tamarind chutney layered on top. We appreciated the authentic flavors and, most of all, the texture of the aloo in this dish. It was not your typical boiled and mashed potatoes; these were gently fried cubes. For me, the shape offered texture and structure to the dish, allowing you to taste the flavors as you bite. For the next course, we both ordered the achari paneer tikka. This dish was a flavor bomb in your mouth. The paneer was “stuffed” with a fig and cashew mixture, marinated in achar, and topped with a corn chaat. The paneer was silky smooth and melted in your mouth, and the nutty filling offered a bite to break to the creaminess of the paneer. The achar was a burst of flavor, which brightened up the corn chaat. For our entree, we ordered the methi malai mutter paneer and the khatta meetha baingan. These were accompanied by saag makai, daal lasooni, and we ordered one bread basket and one steamed rice. The methi malai mutter paneer had a mild flavor but so much flavor. The dish comes topped with fried methi, which was a nice flavor bomb. Once again, the paneer was so soft and creamy. The khatta meetha baingan was a new dish for us. It lives up to its name, khatta meetha, in perfect balance. The eggplant itself was so tender that it just melted in your mouth. The bread basket comes with one naan and one tandoori roti. Both were light and fluffy, not thick or tough. Despite being full, we had to order dessert. We ordered the gold leaf gulab jamun and Bengali angoori rasmalai. Both were amazing. The gulab jamun is “stuffed” with pistachios, and you can actually taste the rose (gulab). The rasmalai is a classic, no artificial or watered down flavors. We appreciated that the actual pieces of rasmalai were bite-sized, as well. The staff is kind and attentive. Every individual helped out, came around to ask us how we were enjoying our meal, and answered any questions we had. The plates and silverware are refreshed after each item! This allowed for a clean start for the next item. As each item was being served, the individual(s) serving it explained each item, which we felt was elevated service. Our only constructive feedback is to spread out the tables a bit more. Oftentimes, the server at the next table had to squeeze in between or had their coat tail hanging over over our table or food. Creating more space makes it comfortable for everyone to get in and out and not worry about being on top of everyone.

We went in with high hopes given the recent 2 Michillin-star rating but was disappointed. We ended up ordering from the Ala Carte menu due to the early 5:30 booking and still feeling full from lunch (also 13 y/o daughter doesn't eat much). There is a noticeable difference in service for those ordering the tasting menu and wine paring... sure, I guess it makes sense given the price difference, but then again, why even offer an al carte menu if you are going to make your diners feel 2nd class? Pros: - Tandoori Lamb was excellent, perfectly cooked and the flavors outstanding. - drinks were good, but hard to mess up up gin & tonics, beer and cocktails. Cons: - All the rest of the food: - Amritsari Shrimp & Queenies, fried shrimp & scallop, overly-fried, dry. The accompanying "salsa" had an off-putting flavor. - Aloo Chaat, overly sweet, didn't come with any papdi, was essentially served in a bowl, and I suppose you just eat it by the spoonfuls. - Goan Cafreal Salmon Tikka, fish cooked well, but slathered in a Cafreal sauce that didn't balance well with the fish. - Chicken Butter Masala, honestly perfectly decent, maybe a tad sweeter than my preference, but the real issue was that it was no better (at £32) than my corner Indian joint. - Basmati rice and naan and poori bread basket were simply that. Perhaps the enemy of success is the hype of expectation. Perhaps the fault lies in the inherent conflict wrought by attempting to elevate a cuisine that at its roots are delicious but affordable. Or maybe it was the way the meal ended with the server bringing me the bill, which came in £20 under the £100/person minimum, so I ordered another drink, but then was told to drink it at the bar so they could get other guests in. The trendy vibe and new-colonial digs couldn't make up for the overall let down of knowing I'd been served gussied up food that, while good, didn't match the 2 star rating or the price point-- another Michelin Miss.

Can’t describe how amazing Gymkhana was! From start to finish we were taken care of by incredibly friendly, attentive staff. The decor and ambience was warm and intimate, and it felt relaxed while also feeling really special. Now, the food. Wow. Perhaps the tastiest meal we have had in London (although probably to be expected for two Michelin stars!). We were very impressed by the portion sizes too, we were left absolutely full and were able to take home a great sized lunch for the next day, which they kindly boxed up for us. This was the worst Indian food I have ever had in my life. It made me lose faith in the Michelin guide and how they award these stars. There is just no way Gymkhana deserves a single star — much less two. The food was over seasoned, over sauced, and over cooked. When I made a complaint about the prawns one of the staff members came back to tell me that the chef tried the food from the plate I sent back and that the chef said it was cooked to their standards. First of all, what was the point of that? I found that disgusting that the chef was eating from my plate after we tried it. Second, the staff member felt the need to come back and inform me that I was wrong. That is not how service works in top restaurants. The fact of the matter is that the prawn was squeaky with a burnt flavor. Of all the things I did in London, Gymkhana was my only regret. We packed our leftovers and gave them to a homeless man on the road. The samosas and biryani were decent, the cocktails were good. Everything else we tried was terrible. The place was beautiful inside but that's about it. Save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else.

The restaurant has a special place, a nice atmosphere, and the service is excellent, but the food is average. Their chicken and meat are halal. But they serve food with silver-plated spoons. We asked them to provide us with an alternative, and the only alternative was a biryani scoop because it is stainless steel. Do not be negligent in this matter because it is forbidden. There are seven of us dining together. In theory, we should be able to order all the different dishes on the lunch menu. We didn't expect it at the time, and the waiter didn't suggest this. Maybe we had some miscommunication due to the language barrier. Now we regret that we can't taste more. Different dishes. I don’t know if it was because the place was a bit noisy or something else, but I originally ordered a shrimp dish but ended up getting something else wrong. However, because we were having a heated conversation at the time, we forgot to respond immediately to the waiter. Even waiters at non-Michelin-rated restaurants usually repeat the dishes ordered by the guests to avoid misunderstandings. Our waiter seemed to have omitted this step. Seven people can only use the private room, and we understand that there is a minimum consumption. However, the waiter did not encourage us to add more food or drinks to try to make up the minimum consumption. This is still a basic requirement in Taiwan, which pays attention to service quality. This is the only service with two Michelin stars. A bit unsatisfying. And obviously there are relatively expensive lamb chops on the menu that you can add. In addition, there are only two choices for lunch desserts. The waiter directly served us four portions of the stronger desserts and three portions of the more average desserts, which was exactly opposite to our preferences, which was quite unfortunate. I don’t know if the low-cost discounts for using private rooms are the same at noon and evening. I feel that this pricing seems unreasonable. This is our first Michelin experience in London. We are a little worried whether other Michelin restaurants in London will be similar to this.

During our recent visit to Gymkhana, one of London's finest Indian restaurants, we had the pleasure of experiencing a range of dishes that truly showcased the restaurant's ability to combine traditional Indian flavors with a modern culinary approach. Here’s a breakdown of the dishes we tried: Aloo Chat – 8/10 The Aloo Chat was an excellent start to our meal. The dish delivered on flavor and presentation, with a wonderful balance of tangy, spicy, and sweet elements. The potatoes were perfectly cooked, and the chutneys elevated the dish, making it a delightful appetizer. Gol Guppas – 8/10 The Gol Guppas were a burst of flavor in every bite. Crisp, fresh, and filled with a tangy, spicy water, these little bites were a fun and flavorful treat. Each piece was composed beautifully, giving us an authentic street-food experience but with a refined twist. Tandoori Masala Lamb Chops – 10/10 The star of the meal was, without a doubt, the Tandoori Masala Lamb Chops. These chops were marinated and grilled to absolute perfection, bursting with rich tandoori spices and a smoky flavor from the grill. The lamb was succulent, tender, and full of flavor. This dish is a must-try for anyone visiting Gymkhana. Chicken Butter Masala – 10/10 The Chicken Butter Masala was hands down the best butter chicken we’ve ever had. The chicken was marinated exceptionally well, which gave it a depth of flavor that really stood out. The sauce was rich and creamy but not overly sweet, striking the perfect balance. Every bite was divine, and we couldn't stop ourselves from mopping up the sauce with naan. Masala Chai – 7/10 The Masala Chai was good, but it didn’t quite hit the high mark set by the other dishes. While it certainly wasn’t bad, we felt it lacked the depth of flavor and spice that makes a great chai. However, it was still a comforting way to end the meal. Overall Experience: Gymkhana lived up to its reputation as one of London's top-tier Indian dining spots. The service was attentive, the ambiance was elegant yet relaxed, and the food was a showcase of Indian culinary artistry. While a couple of dishes were good but not outstanding, the Tandoori Masala Lamb Chops and Chicken Butter Masala alone make this restaurant well worth a visit. We can't wait to return for another round of these incredible flavors!

Gymkhana is tucked away behind Green Park station and moments from Bond Street. The entrance is dark and unassuming but once inside, it is lively, bustling and super busy. There's 2 main sections and we found downstairs to be a really cool, chilled area. I tried a few soft cocktails and they were delicious, interesting and inventive. For starters, we tried quite a few things but we particularly enjoyed their poppadoms and chutneys-which were also delicious for accompanying the mains! Their tandoori prawns were spectacular! Chaat was also good, if wetter than what I'm used to. For mains, everything was excellent: butter chicken, pork cheek vindaloo, biryani, guinea fowl fry with black dal and naan on the side. Meat was tender, flavoursome with char and all sauces were delicious. What really sets this place apart is service. I spoke to Pedro at the bar who was so kind and Taz, our waitress was patient, knowledgeable, kind and friendly. Tables were cleaned and cleared between courses and plates were searing hot, which I loved. Lighting is low and music is funky, fitting in with the mood of the restaurant. Small things made good food and a nice restaurant a great overall experience. Certainly a lovely option for a high end Indian experience, the quality is clear but without the miniscule portions or the stuffy atmosphere.

Gymkhana is the kind of place that is an entire experience. You don't go here if you want Indian food thats going to blow your socks off, for that you have to go to the outskirts of north west London. If however you want to feel like royalty for an evening and try some modern takes on classic dishes, you should go here. It's also one of a very limited number of 2* Indian restaurants. The paneer tikka with sweetcorn, black daal and chaat were the standout savoury dishes for me. The highlight of the entire meal was the jambu with rabri for dessert, absolutely spectacular.

Went for the tasting menu and the food was pretty good, but frankly given the cost was expecting to be blown away. Perhaps it's just Indian food belies subtle flavours and textures, but felt the budget would have been better invested at two meals elsewhere! Atmosphere was great, but being 6'2" found it a challenge to walk around (we were placed in a cove to the rear of the basement level by the wine cellar). All very nice, but anything over 6' and you'l be crouching when not seated. Menu was expansive and would suggest you order for 80% of your party size. As mentioned, food was all very tasty except perhaps the king prawns (a little powdery and overly spiced) and the dessert a little underwhelming. All the chickpea dishes were top notch. Still, a very nice meal and surroundings, and would have got 5 marks had it been more reasonably priced.

The tasting menu was lovely and I would recommend the goat and the butter chicken and the bread. The shrimp was bland and the tikka salmon was just salmon covered in green goop with no real flavour. Desserts were a straight pass. Wine pairings were excellent but elsewhere service was a little off. Cutlery misplaced, tables too small and large plates too large meaning they needed to keep moving things around between courses. Water replaced with still instead of sparkling and poured into the same glass. Nowhere to stand whilst waiting for your coat. Flush piece missing from the end of the chain on the toilet, toilet door not secure when locked. Little things but not expected of a restaurant deserving of a Michelin star. There are other Indian restaurants that cost less and provide a better experience the Cinnamon club, Dishoom and Darjeeling Express come to mind.

Gymkhana is definitely one of the best (and most expensive) Indian restaurants in London and it is certainly worth visiting. But I do not think it holds the standards of a 2-star Michelin restaurant and that’s why I was dissatisfied with the experience. We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing. Overall the food was very enjoyable, with some outstanding dishes like the Quail Seekh Kebab, the Chicken Butter Massala or the Kid Goat Keema. We also ordered the famous lamb chops (not included in the tasting menu) and they did not disappoint. However, the desserts felt a bit flat compared to the rest of the meal and very sweet. The food is very good and it deserves a * but it misses the wow factor of a 2*. What I felt that was disappointing was the service. The service felt a bit rushed and impersonal considering this was a birthday celebration. My napkin was a noticeable mess and the service did not change it until I requested a new one. The sommelier (or the waiter who was in charge of serving the wine) was very knowledgeable about wines and very polite and kind. But he never showed us the bottles before he served us the wine, which I think is a huge mistake when you are serving an expensive wine pairing at a fine dining restaurant (with 2 *). The ambiance is relaxed with down lighting and nice decor. I certainly recommend eating on the lower floor.

Gymkhana lives up to its reputation. I was especially blown away by the lamb chops and butter chicken. The lamb chops are simply phenomenal—beautifully spiced, charred to perfection, and incredibly tender. Each bite is packed with rich, smoky flavor that makes them easily some of the best I’ve had. The butter chicken is equally outstanding. It has this incredible velvety texture that coats your palate in the best way possible, with a perfectly balanced blend of spices and a hint of sweetness that just elevates the dish. It’s smooth, rich, and downright luxurious. Paired with their naan or even some rice, it’s impossible not to savor every bite. Beyond the food, the ambiance at Gymkhana enhances the experience. The setting feels both intimate and elegant, with attentive service that makes you feel genuinely welcome. Whether you’re here for a special occasion or simply a great meal, Gymkhana delivers an unforgettable dining experience.

It’s a nice place. I’m not sure what the hype is about and maybe the non vegetarian food is better but I found nothing on the menu to be extraordinary. The black dal was very average, the truffle pulao too oily & left an aftertaste which I did not enjoy (& i love truffles. Paneer methi malai matar was on the sweeter side for m but decent. Best part of my meal was the fresh breads and the appetisers- aloo chaat & beetroot chops (which are more like a bun+cutlet). All of the food was nice but I wouldn’t go back for any of it. The veggie main selection was not up to the mark in my opinion. The drinks were nice (nimbu paani & mango lassi) & the staff attentive.

I came to London with my family on vacation looking to try out the recommended restaurants to visit which gymkhana was one of them and I booked for me and my family a table for lunch and when the time came they didn’t let me enter because they don’t allow child’s under 7 to enter .. well were do you want me to keep my child if I’m here on vacation and it was a lunch time which wasn’t crowded, my family really wanted to try the restaurant but we couldn’t because we had a child with us

Obviously two Michelin stars brings high expectations which unfortunately weren't fully met for my visit. The restaurant is small but had a nice atmosphere and buzz about it. We had the tasting menu which is good value for the calibre of place (£120) but the drinks are expensive which easily racks up a large bill. The food was good with some courses outstanding (Kid Goat Methi Keema in particular) but the Muntjac Biryani (Venison) was disappointing and something I was really looking forward to. I expected more of an "experience" with the place having two stars but it felt more of a conveyor belt and a little rushed, not very personal which was a shame.

Wasn’t as personable an experience as last time, the place has 2 Michelin stars and they didn’t think to write the names of the birthday guests (which was my brother and my dad but they only brought one happy birthday small plate) and I had written the names on the booking. It took ages for us to amend the booking from 4 to 5 people and they never even responded so we had to go out of our way to turn up to gymkhana to amend the booking one evening after work (poor service from a 2 Michelin star restaurant). The waiter also brought the cake yesterday whilst one of the guests was in the toilet which was just not very smart. We got asked twice if the table should be cleared while we were still eating too. Food was as good as always though. We had been to gymkhana twice before a few months ago and the service was way better then.

Came here with my partner who was excited to try it as he’s big foodie so I had high expectations for him. The Decor is really nice but it’s a small restaurant and because there’s a lot of hard furnishings it gets quite noisy. The Majority of tables are one table/booth deep either side of the walkway through to kitchen, bathrooms and private room downstairs so it feels like there’s a constant stream of people waking past. Add to that over zealous staff topping up water and wine every couple of mm’s and bringing and talking through courses constantly in way too fast a service for a tasting menu, I was dizzy by the time we were ‘prompted’ to vacate our table. One plate was even taken away from me as I was still chewing my last mouthful. Food was however excellent - the vegetarian tasting menu, lots of powerful flavours and spicing. Have I eaten as good or better food at non Michelin star places? Yes, but this was good nonetheless but the atmosphere was lacking, and with everything said above it’s not somewhere I’ll likely go back to.

I honestly have no clue why this place has any Michelin stars, let alone two. The food is just run-of-the-mill, overpriced, Indian cuisine which you can find all over London. There is no originality or creativity in the dishes whatsoever and the place is so loud you can't even hear the waiters' explanations. When we visited, the drunken cheering & shouting of the private party behind the curtain in the next room downstairs ruined the ambience even further. In the JKS group, Trishna is head-and-shoulders above Gymkhana as a Michelin-starred restaurant. Even Brigadiers food quality is as good, if not better, for less money. Elsewhere, there are plenty of better options in London such as Jamavar, Pravaas, Manthan, Yaatra, Flora Indica and Cinnamon Kitchen to name a few.

The food is good, service is excellent and the atmosphere is nice, but I can’t rage about this place. It felt like an American who took a Spanish class in high school and forcefully pronounces Barcelona as Barthelona. It was hitting so hard on the spices that it missed key textures like crisp in aloo chat and creaminess in butter chicken. Ultimately I enjoyed the food because I love Indian cuisine, but I wouldn’t say this is the best in London, despite its two Michelin stars.

I was really looking forward to experiencing Gymkhana after reading so many positive reports. The dining room was really well done and it was nice having a booth for the two of us. We went for the vegetarian tasting menu and the food was exceptional, an explosion of tastes and plenty of it. Service was a bit hit and miss, all the staff were lovely but we found them too overeager to top up water by a cm or so every couple of minutes which interrupted our conversions and marred what otherwise would have been a fabulous experience.

We had the Vegetarian Tasting Menu - a lot of food, be prepared! Some of the dishes were not to our taste, especially the dessert which was too sweet for us (however not something we would usually order so it was good to try it!), but overall an amazing must try experience. The highlights were the Paneer Mutter, Saag & Daal, which were all the best Indian dishes we have ever had. The tandoor broccoli was amazing, however it is spicy. The paneer tikka was also excellent, as was the mushroom biriyani. The aloo chaat was something we were extremely excited for going into the dinner and was very nice, however not as standout as other dishes. The service is impeccable, extremely respectful and catering at all times without feeling overly intrusive. For drinks we had cocktails - masala margherita was particularly good. Gymkhana is well worth experiencing, and would recommend to anyone.

Not the best experience, overcharged twice despite double checking the bill, service was hit or miss and felt like an inconvenience. Tables either side of us turned over multiple times during our tasting menu killing the atmosphere, and our table was too small for multiple drinks and plates. While some of the courses showed promise, the tasting menu involved too many choices and was poorly presented on a huge laminated card. The sommelier explained each wine with little enthusiasm and no mention of why or how it was paired, and did not engage in any further conversation, nor present the wine bottles. In summary it did not feel special enough for the £ and 2* rating.

We enjoyed our dinner at this hugely popular Michelin starred restaurant, especially the starters but was it worth the inflated price? No it was not and we didn't even spend the 100 pound a head minimum spend they have now introduced.Wait staff were excellent and approachable, not sure of the purpose of the two glamorous blonds at the entrance; everyone else was working hard, apart from greeting and staching the odd coat they appeared to spend the evening chatting to each other. On balance glad to have the experience but will leave it to the super rich in future.

What a memorable 2 Michelin star experience! We booked 2 months in advance and came for lunch. We sat in a booth, the dark oak wood, yellow light lamps and the old fashioned ceiling fans made the ambiance very cozy and inviting. The staff were friendly and patient, they were taking time to guide us through menu and give us the suggestions about our order. We stated with drinks. The Pomegranate Ninbu Pani a was a perfect blend of sweet & tart, very refreshing. The Margo Lassi is sweet with beautiful floral flavour, very smooth and creamy. We ordered Duck Egg Bhurji with Lobster & Malabar Paratha, Aloo Chaat Tamarind & Sev, Wild Muntjac Biryani, Pomegrate & Mint Raita and Goan Prawn Curry. Every single dish was so delicious! It’s like a symphony of flavour! It’s rich, it’s creamy, it’s right amount of spicy, every flavour is so delicately balanced and the flavour profile is so multilayered and very well developed. On top of all the amazing meals, the best experience was our server. The server was very attentive and friendly. When he knew one of our member was allergic to tree nuts, he brought us a nut-free menu. When we found out the Chicken butter masala has cashew in it and they cannot make a one without cashew, we’re a bit disappointed but we ordered Goan Prawn Curry. When the meal came, we noticed there was a small dish of butter chicken, he specially brought for us so rest of us won’t miss out. What a pleasant surprise and services! We can’t wait to come back and try other dishes!

Had very high expectations of this restaurant given their 2 Michelin stars, and the popularity and hype surrounding it. The food and ambiance were excellent. I would say it very good Indian food, fresh, high-quality ingredients and tasty. But I couldn’t say it was the best I’d ever had. And in fact, I’d argue to say, there are options that are just as delicious, at a significantly lower price point. The reason for the 3-stars is really because I expected more. The food while great was not enough to justify the price point. The service should have also been remarkable. And unfortunately it fell short. A few examples - the recommendations by the waiter didn’t really feel personal at all. (Eg. I asked for a cocktail that was not at all sweet, and was recommended a sweet cocktail). - We mentioned it was our anniversary, but the restaurant didn’t do anything special, not even simply wishing us a happy anniversary. - We asked for one of our desserts to be packed to go, and one of the servers made a fuss over packing it for us, which seemed unnecessary, and even a little curt at the end. - When we left, we simply walked out, none of our servers said goodbye, or thanked us for dining with them. Granted these complaints sound pretentious and nit-picky. The counterpoint I will say to this, is this price point, and with 2 stars, we expected an incredibly high level of service, and we just didn’t get it. If you’re looking for a beautiful restaurant and great food, this place has it. But so do many other locations in London, at a much more reasonable price.

Gymkhana's food was good - I'll start there. Good, not great or interesting. I am born and raised/continue to live in Manhattan, so I'm used to good Indian food. This met the bar, didn't exceed it. Where this restaurant truly failed was the service. Honestly, it was laughable. I am a relatively easy person with service, don't care too much. I have higher expectations of course of a two star restaurant, but don't expect hand holding. This might have been my downfall, however, as if I had had a server holding my hand, maybe it wouldn't have been 38 minutes from the time the dishes were cleared from our entrees to the time they finally brought out a comped dessert for our anniversary, which was noted on the reservation and ignored until this minute. Worth mentioning as well that no one asked how the food was during our entrees, or came to check on us at all - which would have been nice as we would have gotten another round of drinks, but no opportunity came there. The silence between the entree course and the dessert was genuinely funny. It was so weird. I could go to ANY restaurant in NYC, or most anywhere in the world, and I wouldn't be flat out ignored with an empty table for 38 minutes - more if you count the time since our entrees were brought out and no one checked to make sure we were all good. TWO Michelin stars??? I could open up a restaurant in Manhattan with any of the cooks of Indian restaurants I've frequented and kick this restaurants ass. And that's not hyperbole! This is a pure hype place, emperors clothes type of thing. Gymkhana is a trendy upscale Indian restaurant, go for good (on par) Indian food and to see and be seen. That's about it! At least the mandatory service charge was only 15%, as 30% tippers that did make us feel a little bit more justified. But only a little.

Gymkhana was a wonderful experience for us. We came 15 mins early to our reservation and they kindly offered us the private room because it was available to use even though we hadn’t booked it. Very beautiful and traditional decor throughout the restaurant which added to the rich atmosphere. Service was very friendly and we enjoyed everything on the menu. Mango lassi is a must try, highly recommend it, tastes very fresh. Gucchi Truffle Pulao was great for vegetarians. Portions were also decently sized for the price. I highly recommend the a la carte menu instead of the set menu for better value. There’s good vegetarian choices available. We had multiple starters including aloo chat, beetroot vada pav and veggie punjabi samosas. All very delicious. For mains, we went for bread basket, with methi malai mutter paneer, baingan bartha and saag makai. Fried Okra was good but not as good as the other mains. Even the small touches like the mouth freshener at the end were carefully crafted and delicious. Falooda was also lovely, especially the saffron kulfi inside. We enjoyed the unique flavours of every dish, with subtle twists we hadn’t tried at other typical Indian restaurants. It’s an experience beyond the food though. We stayed for a few hours and thoroughly enjoyed celebrating my birthday here. Highly recommended!!

Very Disappointing.....Since they gained their second Michelin Star the quality of the food has definitely declined whilst the prices have increased, whilst they seem to be living on their reputation more than their current performance. The food was good on the whole but definitely not great, with especially the Pork Cheek Vindaloo being quite mild and bland and although the Wild Muntjac Biryani was quite flavourful, the Muntjac meat inself was very tough and chewy. As for the service, it is definitely poor and not at the level you would expect from a 2 Star restaurant, with it being quite cold and inattentive. I had to continually make an effort to gain the attention of a member of staff whenever I required something. One incident I did not appreciate was their dishonestly and lack of flexibility when I tried to cancel an item that I had ordered well before it came to the table, especially as after I had asked for a 10 minute break between us finishing the next 3 dishes that were due (and had still not arrived) to come to the table and the Biryani arriving. So I was surprised why they had even called for the Biryani at the time I requested for the cancellation. After speaking to a server about the cancellation, after just over minutes one of the managers came and told me to my suprise. that it would not be possible to cancel the item as it was already in the oven and would be ready in a couple of minutes, even without checking with the chef in the kitchen which is what I was told they would need to do. I know this because neither of the them left the restaurant floor from the moment I requested the cancellation and being told it would not be possible. They was no willingness or urgency to fulfill my request, which disappointed me, as the server first said he would check in the kitchen and then without doing so immediately, he came back to me and said the manager would need to check with the chef, but he was busy dealing with other guests and so time was passing. All very petty, amateurish and their dishonesty, attitude and conduct put a damper on the evening, but I hope they are happy that they sold an extra Biryani. Maybe because the parent company JKS is growing and expanding so fast, they have taken their eye off the ball when it comes to their crown jewel, With the imminent arrival of their new £100 per person minimum spend policy for dinner, with the amount paid as a deposit at the time of reservation, normally two months in advance, it is clear to see that profitability and the maximizing of revenue are the priority, even ahead of the customers experience and guest satisfaction, but hey, all good things eventually come to an end !!!!

I would begin by stating that the service was satisfactory, Rakesh was attentive and ensured that we had everything we required within seconds. However, he did exceed our needs with more food and continued to try to surpass our order. Unfortunately, he frequently brought us drinks that we did not order, resulting in the necessity of having a substitute server. The food was rather disappointing, how was this establishment awarded two Michelin stars? The price tag was significantly higher than the typical fare. The presentation of the food was impressive, but the taste was comparable to that of a local establishment, which is 10 times cheaper. I won't be coming back as I've been unwell since eating here.

So almost cancelled dinner as my husband got food poisoning and I hate dining alone unless I’m at a counter. I spoke with the manager, Preeta, and she convinced me to come and they’d take care of me. So I arrive and probably have the best table in the house where it’s central part of the action but not exposed. Food was amazing. Duck naan was a Lovely starter and I couldn’t decide between the lamb chops and salmon so Preeta gave me a sample of both. Can’t decide which I liked better. Somm from Sardegna was super knowledgeable and helped me pick a great bottle of white he had off list (just gotten in). I also wanted a glass of red and he served me my pick and brought me a taste of his pick, a South African wine, which was delicious and lighter than most South African wines I’ve had which is nice. We’ve loved their sister restaurant Gymkhana for years but this was a fun more casual vibe with equally great food. They could not have made me feel more welcome. ❤️

Arrived on time to be asked to have seat in the lounge area whilst the table was prepared, Odd as there were plenty of tables ready and no one at them. The venue is cold so bring a jumper. We ordered our food. Waited for 45 mins before asking where the food was, table behind us ordered after us but got served before. It transpired that it was the manager and his friends having dinner there who were clearly more important than all the other guests, The staff were flustered and did not understand or request of having each dish brought to the table as it was ready so it did not sit on the pass drying out, this did not happen and the food all came together and was beyond edible. We spoke to the manager who did want to try and rectify the problems by replacing all the food but by this point it was just too late, the staff needed to be more on the ball, there were other staff there that were hiding in the corner behind the bar and just popped their heads out to see what we were discussing with the manager, I'm guessing they were worried it may have been about them as we had not seen either of them do any work since we arrived. We ended up paying for our drinks and left to go and eat elsewhere where we had great Indian meal. The manager would like us to go back but we have standards when it comes to food and service and this place just does not come close, so no thank you we will not return and I'm guessing by the very few customers that were there this place needs every cover it can get.
