Star Of India in Sutton

In an area with a lot of Indian restaurants, our family ranks this one of the best. We had a family dinner with Aussie relatives and it was superb. The food was wonderful, the service friendly and they were so generous to us. We got a free vegatable side dish and a plate of chips was also brought out free for the children in the party. The sweet chill prawn was fantastic. One of the children accidentally dislodged a wall painting but the staff took it in their stride and did not make a fuss. We have tried several other good Indian restaurants in the locality but always go back to the Star for family events

We had a table booked for 4 people on the 9/3/24 at 18.30. At 20.30 we were still waiting to eat . We noticed that our half of the restaurant was full now , but noticed that EVERY table had no food on, apart from the poppadoms that you normally get at the start . We complained and was told they would check . We decided to pay up and leave as this was not acceptable. We came in to eat not just to drink . We didn’t expect to have to had wait 2 hours for our food. The manager came over as we wanted to complain again , about the length of time we had to wait .As we left we noticed that the other half of the restaurant by the front door, every TABLE was eating, where as our half nobody was eating . It looked to us as being a ploy to order more drinks while you have to wait .I will not be coming back here again !!!

We have been going to this curry house for a number of years. We went again last night and as usual had a lovely meal and great service. It’s the best curry house in the area with an excellent menu and varied choices to suit all tastes. My wife also loves the house wine. Jay and his staff are lovely people who are always attentive, professional and always have a smile on their faces. The curry house has a very good atmosphere unlike some other Indian restaurants I have visited over the years. I will only go to this Indian now as it’s the best. Excellent what I would call a proper curry house excellent variety with first class service… sag mushroom was a free side was amazing.. had the prawn curry… soooo yum. Restaurant happy to provide doggie bags. Definitely coming back.

This is our favourite curry place. The staff is always so friendly and goes beyond. Food tastes absolutely amazing. The best curry house far and wide.

This has gone downhill. Used to always eat here but no more. I ordered Chicken Shaslick and the chicken was awful, I cannot describe the texture but there were peppers in the dish and I thought I was eating a pepper not chicken. I waited until my partner had finished his meal and then told the manager discreetly that the chicken was inedible. They did not charge for the dish at the end but it worries me about where they are sourcing their chicken from. Can’t say the manager was that sorry, so perhaps he knew. Having said that my partner’s meal was fine. I do not normally write negative reviews but felt this needs to be addressed. I won’t go back again but had been going there for years prior to now.

Waited ages for meal after asking to take our order, food nothing special and not up to standard of previous owner. No table cloths so they are saving on costs all to customers expense. Ambience poor and not what expected of a restaurant in Cheam Village. Then had to ask twice for bill so little customer care. All in all not a pleasant experience so will not return, used to be a regular customer but gone downhill in many areas. Suggest avoid as not inexpensive and now poor value for money.

Super lovely staff and ambience with great service and offers. The food was also really good and I enjoyed their recommendations!

8 of us booked for dinner - and were jostled around everyone else’s tables waiting 10 minutes for the table to be ready. The staff are unprofessional, unkempt, scruffy, unfriendly and most look like they were brought in from a child’s paper round. The tables have no linen and the cutlery was more or less left in a pile to one side for us to sort out. I won’t come back to a restaurant that thinks it’s ok to put burnt poppadums on the table in a bowl with someone else’s bhaji at the bottom!! and then openly argue with customers when incorrect dishes are brought to the table - 100% of diners know the difference between chicken tikka dhansak and chicken dhansak and both are offered on the menu. The place has a shambolic management aiming at creating a ‘semi-fast food’ restaurant, and it all feels very dirty. It’s too busy for the number of serving staff who don’t understand their lack of professionalism and service standards can ruin a dining experience. I’ll use the Surrey Palace or Lalakash next time but never this place!

It's a busy restaurant but an hour an a half and only a few poppadoms? Outrageously slow. Second round of drinks never turned up. Might as well go home and get some beans on toast.

Went for a family birthday meal and had a really disappointing evening. The waiters were miserable and treated us as an inconvenience. The dansak was ridiculously hot, the tarka Dhal like water and the tikka masala looked radioactive and tasted horrible! When my nephew requested a dessert, I was told that they weren't serving desserts as they were too busy. On leaving, I spotted desserts being served to another table and I asked to speak to the manager. He informed me that they had some new staff who had only just started and that they didn't really know what they were doing. He said that he would make sure that I was "looked after" next time I visited. I told him that I wouldn't be returning and I definitely won't!

Been here many times star of india. Very clean n tidy place. All staff are friendly. You can speak to the chef if you need some changes in yr dish. Will recommend.

Went with friends who go regularly. Compared to our usual Indian, food was expensive, service was vey slow and not very friendly or personal. Food was good and well presented with generous portions. No little free tipple at the end of the meal either or hot towel but there was a chocolate!

The Star has been closed, like many restaurants, and is now doing delivery and collection orders. We ordered chicken jalfrezi, dahl, onion bhajis, naan, and some lamb chops. The delivery was spot on time, and the food was piping hot and just delicious. Nice spices, very flavoursome, not oily at all, and good quantities of food. The poppadums were v fresh too. We were given a huge amount of mango chutney too.It really was worth the wait....and we just may have it again v soon!Thanks Jay...it was great to get our ‘fix’Note this was a delivery at home, not at the restaurant, s9 the responses below are not really valid.

Have to thank you for saving the day when we had to cancel our table due to being on isolation for this virus, you went out of your way to make our home dining experience just as memorable. We chose The Star to avoid Sutton due to the coronavirus outbreak. I know you can catch it anywhere but we thought we avoid it due to the recent bad news.This local restaurant has been going strong for years and was 75% full. Tables are a bit tight together and don't expect an intimate meal.Service is above average and friendly. We ordered the vegetarian and non vegetarian platter to share with 6 people. It was a nice selection of tandoori chicken, onion bhaji, kofte kebab, mushrooms but it could have done with some dipping sauces.We had bengal chicken, meat biryani, garlic rice (too greasy), chapati, korma, pasander, naga chicken, naan, sag aloo and a couple of other dishes. Most were tasty and it was perfect portions as we finished most of it.I have been numerous times as it is my local. Worth a visit.

Celebrated my daughter in laws 50th birthday here last night and there were around thirty of us. I would recommend this restaurant for the good food and attentive service.I would have preferred it if we had been seated in the main restaurant rather than at the back of the restaurant where it was quite a squeeze. Met up with friends as we regularly do at the star. The whole experience was awful waited almost 2 hours for our main course when it arrived it was barely warm . No apologies at all . Attitude of staff appalling Definitely won’t be going back . Don’t be surprised if others make same complaint

Me and family went to star of India cheamHad the same meal I have had for some time. Naga methi I don’t know if they have changed the chef but food was completely wrong in presentation and taste onions were not cooked raw. Just very poor. Chicken not cut in strips (seems like shop brought curry at best ) ordered delivery same curry approx week before thought must of miss ordered . And ordered one last night to my great disappointment same bad standard. I will not be going there again at cost of £33.40 every week for a few years now. I will try a different restaurant. I had not visited this restaurant before , although heard good reports from various acquaintances. We were a very large group of 35 friends and were split into 6 tables. We arrived at 8am , for some reason we were advised we needed to go to the bar to order drinks nobody came to serve us or offer water. It took one hour to be served water. My friend brought drinks so our thirst was sated.The poppadoms were average, the chutneys below average and nothing at all special . We had ordered starters, I had a king prawn butterfly as did most of our table - it was Ok. But- it took the dumb waiter 1 hour to take our food order and another hour to arrive. I was about to walk out- 2 hours to receive a starter. Other tables in our large group who had not ordered starters received their food much sooner for some unexplained reason.The bar staff and waiters lacked customer service but the ( owner- I think), did intervene personally to his credit and bring me a jug of tap water with ice.The variety of main courses on our table included: lamb korai ( very good and cooked with pickles), king prawn Biriyani- it was average we thought it could have benefited from some more spices. Mixed tandoori grill- above average but could have been served sizzling with more onion and big tomato not cherry ones . The Naan breads were ok. Chicken pasanda- bland and tasteless - mostly left uneaten and my friend went hungry. Vindaloo mixed vegetables - very good but the initial dish that came up was wrong- it was a mild mixed vegetable dish that we rejected . The other tables said their food was ok/ good so it was a real mixed bag!Clearly the inept staff can’t cope with large groups . I have never waited so long for a main course in a restaurant in my life: 2 hours and 20 minutes. Only because of our group I stayed and I am quite patient. The waiters would not answer when questioned about matters it was strange.To the credit of the manager, he reduced the bill to reflect our disappointment with some of the dishes ordered and the slow service and perceived rudeness that two of us took exception to.I won’t take a chance by going back again there is a lot of competition and a place that I have known for years. I’ll stick to that one only if I fancy an Indian meal in this area. Some of my friends in our table group were of Indian and Pakistani heritage and really know a lot more than I about this region’s cuisine, use of particular spices in the different dishes. They said it was average .

We had to wait a little while for our dishes to arrive on the table but for us this is usually a good sign that the food is freshly cooked and piping hot. Also, not surprising, given how busy the restaurant was. Evidently this is a very popular place and seemed to be full of locals as well as groups having parties in the run-up to Christmas. The manager was conscious that we had waited longer than was probably usual and he made a point of coming to apologise for this which was a nice, personal touch and showed that he was aware of what was going on and cared about his customers. The food was of outstanding flavour and quality and well worth the wait. The service was efficient and professional with friendly waiting staff. Would highly recommend.

We came here expecting some delicious food and we were given that.To a point.Our first drinks that we were served were flat.Surely who ever was pouring these drinks should have seen that this was so.Secondly, i had a sag paneer as part of my main.I eat this dish in every Indian restaurant i go into. Tonights sag paneer was the worst i have ever tasted. What made it worse was that it was soaked in oil. Not nice at all.

Went in on a Tuesday night and we were literally the only people in there for the first half hour. Food was delicious, some of these other reviewers probably "don't like spicy food", as there are quite a few like that in this area... The service was attentive without feeling pressured, the price very reasonable. Have us every reason in the world to go back, just baffled by some of the other reviews. Makes you wonder whether there is another agenda at work.

ordered a small takeaway on Wednesday 06/03/2019 and collected it, got home wrong rice, extra two rice never ordered but charged for, wife's curry so bland it was uneatable, min was simple chicken tikka, sliced and dry, Sainsburys is better, nan bread thick and uncooked in places, onion bhaji soggy ang again under cooked, no salad with it, went straight in the bin, not as if they were bust this was about 18:45, what a waste of money, do not use this place

We ate at this curry house on a Friday night. The place was packed and we were immediately seated at our table for four. We waited at least 20 minutes to order a drink and a further 10 minutes for them to arrive, These were 2 lagers and 2 apple juices(nothing complicated)

This restaurant looks good, it is large with plenty of tables. However, for some reason, they only use half the restaurant and consequently all customers are cramped together with tables inches apart, whilst the other section of the room is empty. Therefore you might as well be in a small restaurant. If you are seated on the inner side then getting through a small gap to get out is difficult and would be more so if you have mobility problems.

Whilst the food is above average the service is quite irritating. This is the third time in a row I have felt rushed.

We ate here with friends because we were in town and it was convenient. Perfectly acceptable without being memorable except for the chocolates that came withe the bill which my wife pronounced as better than average.

This is a friendly and reliable restaurant. The menu is large and varied and they will also make bespoke dishes depending on your taste.

Twice we've had a takeaway and twice they've taken the p***. Hardly anything in the containers. My vindaloo had all of three small bits of chicken in it and our rice was missing. They then tried to deliver two rice dishes but instead we had them take it away and give our money back. The first time, you just think to yourself it's a one off but the second time, no. Went to the Haweli of Belmont and got a full sized dinner and very tasty.

I went there last night to get a takeaway meal for 3 of us. The food was promised in 20 minutes but took nearly an hour to arrive, although the staff were very friendly and gave us a couple of bottles of beer gratis. When we got home we found the food to be dry and bland, and the chicken in the Tandoori Mixed Grill was still RAW around the bone. I called to complain and the manager was very apologetic and offered me a £50 voucher which he said he would deliver last night or this morning at the latest. Needless to say it hasn't arrived. It was my first time using this restaurant, and I certainly will not be returning.

Just got back from yet another good meal in this popular Indian in Cheam. We always go in here when visiting family, always good service and value for money. The best Achari Chicken you can get. Will be back again when next in the area.

Visit this restaurant on a Monday evening. The service was great, staff friendly and offered to turn down the a/c for us if we got too cold. The food was lovely and cooked well. We got complimentary onion Bhajis and a potato dish. Often go to this restaurant when visiting Cheam makes a nice change to a Italian.

A number of us have regular 'Curry Night' get-togethers and last week had planned to go to a particular restaurant in Cheam. However, our planned stop was shut for refurbishment and so we opted for the Star of India. At the point, one of our party informed us that the restaurant only has a level 3 hygiene certificate and suggested we look for an alternative. We ignored him and booked into the Star. Upon arrival I was pretty impressed by (a) the large number of diners and (b) the apparent cleanliness of the restaurant. There was a large group of us and we were easily accommodated. This was certainly not the warmest welcome that I have experienced in an Indian ( or any for that matter) restaurant and the staff, while certainly not rude, could benefit from some customer service training. The food however, was not too bad at all. There was plenty of it and we all finished our plates. We were surprised that we were not offered a complimentary drink with the bill but we'll get over that. Price wise this was not the most expensive curry that we have had. Admittedly, we did not have a lot to drink but the bill for nine of was came to £215 plus tip.

Had the worst curry ever here last night. It used to be so good, but not now. Looking at recent reviews on trip advisor, I am not the only one who feels the same. I won’t be going back unless there is a dramatic change. Food was poor with everything covered in coriander to mask the poor flavours.

This used to be a fabulous restaurant. But the food has gone downhill and is now heading well below par. The tables are so cramped together. Staff are still readably friendly - but its not the restaurant Michael used to run!

If you want a curry just go somewhere else, please. We popped in as it seemed buay and thats normally a good thing, we were wrong. My chicken main was a few strips of thin, limp, sliced chickeb with a small amount of sauce poured over the top. My wifes vegetable curry was bland to the point of 1970's tins of soup. I ordered some chapatis to dip into the sauce that came with the chicken but sadly there wasnt enough sauce to dip into. Service was at best dis-interested and frankly we couldnt get out of there quick enough.

I’m going to give my review of Star of India as much effort as the this restaurant gives to its food and service, almost none. Every dish we tried was poor and the low quality of the meat used was noticeable. Still it was better than the service which was shocking, with the rude staff seemingly doing you a favour if you served at all. Will be avoiding in future.

After so many recommendations I really was expecting the food to be much better! Service was fantastic it wasn’t the amazing curry I expected though!

Came for a meal with my wife on Friday and the food was certainly not even decent! It wasn’t the best iv taste by far!! We did have a good curry a few months ago, but this latest one was a big disappointment !

Pretty big place that's in good condition. Food is ok, there's a lot of places doing the same thing and you couldn't really tell them apart. This is pretty much standard for a visit to a curry house. It's got stiff competition in cheam.

Went in a group of 8 old hits who travel around Surrey and South London, trying out Curry Houses. The Star of India gets a good thumbs up from us. Starters were unusually large, and very tasty with plenty of meat. Main courses were again plentiful and well spiced. Rice dishes and sides were more than enough and again well cooked. The restaurant was quite busy for a Monday night which is always a good sign. Staff were friendly and attentive without being too intrusive. Overall the experience was a good one all round, and I would recommend visiting. this restaurant. All 8 of us were in agreement.

Been coming here for about 5 years now and the food and service have always been great. Never had an issue with the food and it is a very classic curry house menu but it's always hot and tasty. Will definitely be coming again.

Not a good visit here tonight!........ The owner is rude & shouts constantly at his staff & needs to “step down” & let his capable son run the business. Manager there needs to go too - no people skills whatsoever & was rude & disrespectful to me & my Niece. Very varied staff who also have no customer service qualities & had a very sweet female waitress in tears who was simply trying to do her job. A busy restaurant but very unorganised and we sat and watched staff move a family party with a young child three times - quite unacceptable. The food was OK but not “heat hot” - it would serve them well to have food heaters as the food went cold in moments. Not an overall good experience and they need to sort their staffing issues out PRONTO!

We came here late on a Sunday night and were very glad they were still open, and pleased to serve us. All waiting staff were really friendly and the choice of food is very good. Tastiest Indian meal I've had in a while, and we were even given a couple of little complimentary extras! Will be coming again.

If you want to go to a restaurant with terrible service and unpleasant staff, look no further. We booked a table for 8 pm for 4 people and were kept waiting for 15 minutes with no apology. A queue was waiting behind us, again with no interaction from staff to apologise for the wait or even an explanation as to how long the wait would be. We saw people sitting at 2 tables go up and find their own menus as they had obviously given up waiting for a waiter to bring one over. When we eventually sat down we had to wait a while for anyone to take our drinks order. We asked for a jug of water as well which we eventually got but no glasses. When we could eventually attract someone's attention to ask for glasses he brought 3 for a party of 4. When he came back, he was quite rude, especially when one of our party asked for some fresh lime (for the second time) for her drink. Only one person had a napkin, although he didn't have any cutlery and we were obviously being an inconvenience when we pointed this out. The table next to us were service way before us, even though we had arrived before them (which they actually commented on, apologising to us - no apology from the staff though). The final straw was when we asked the waiter if he could bag up the leftovers for us to take home. He came back to our table with some containers which he literally threw down and then didn't even reply when my friend asked if we were supposed to do it ourselves. All this, coupled with the fact that the first waiter who took our food order was unable to answer any of our questions about the menu, saying he was new and didn't know. If you're going to work in an establishment serving food, the first thing you should do is learn about the menu! There wasn't one waiter at the Star of India that smiled or interacted with us and we were made to feel that we were an inconvenience. I complained to someone who I suspect wasn't the manager (when I asked if he was the manager he said he could help) as we left and apologised to our friends for taking them there for their birthday treat. It doesn't matter what the food is like (it was OK), with service like that we would never return and would NEVER recommend it to anyone. I can only suggest they get in a lot more staff and train them up on how to be pleasant to customers. That goes a long way to building a good business.

Finally went to Indian restaurant, always scared from spices. As we entered we been greeted by the manager, nd seated straight away they look very busy it was friday. First few moments we order the drinks. I request from the manager to choose my food bcz i never been in ondian restaurant. The food which we had was sooo delicious nd fresh we were very surprised. Can't wait to go again. Love indian food

After eating at this restaurant for the next 2 days after I had a terrible bad stomach, I like Indian food and I was really looking forward to coming here as I'd heard a good review from a friend but after our dinner I was not impressed and nor was my stomach.

Great staff, interesting menu and a great atmosphere offering late opening after the pub, which is always good.

Many thanks to the Star for supplying a wonderful lunch at Sutton & Epsom rugby club for over 100 people. Everybody enjoyed the great food and we had such great feedback from the members. Thoroughly recommend this place – staff and food just brilliant!

Took a full fifty minutes for our meal to arrive, and then the dishes come out over a period of almost ten more minutes. Apathetic staff. No refills. Pink chicken. Garlic naan with no garlic. Cheese naan with no cheese. Basically non-existent waiter. Absolute crap.

Poor really poor table of 5 on a Sunday night we were only people in there. Dry tasteless and orders were wrong just lazy we were the only people in there 3 dhansak 1 bhuna1 Madras how can 3 currys be the same just poor bought out 3 nan even though we ordered garlic.Living on the past need to up there game sorry guys you are as only as gòod as your last meal on that note we will not be returning.

Same old food listed makes the menu uninspiring and the dishes all so samey... and far too much food doshed out per main dish... wastage must be huge. This restaurant has a great opportunity to adopt a more up to date, modern and fresh menu. Come on Star stop resting on your laurels and produce some great indian cuisine.

Went here as part of a very large group booking. Food was brought out promptly and was hot, however not as tasty as other local Indian restaurants. We were told we would receive a discount when we booked, however we had to pay on one bill for the discount to apply which was disappointing.

Our hockey club went to Star of India for our Christmas social. There were around 30 of us, so it took a while for all the food to come out, but when it did there were no complaints. The lamb rogan josh was good, a nice sauce and not spicy at all (which is good for me). The saag paneer was tasty, and not spicy either. We also had the choice of three types of pitta. The drinks selection was limited so don't expect to match your wine to your curry. Overall a good experience, and the staff were helpful and friendly.

Booked a table for 8, 2 weeks prior to the Saturday and confirmed it on the day. Arrived just before 9 and told it would be a short wait before we were seated. We were still standing at the bar 50 minutes later with no sign of our table. In fairness to them they didn't charge for the drinks we had but as a group would never book to come again. Walked out and went next door to the Lal akash and had a lovely meal.

What can I say, the Star Of India. I've been going for almost 10 years and I more than likely be going for the next 40. They really go out of there way to make us feel welcome and everyone always says hello when I walk in. If it's busy they will do there utmost to ensure we get a table, and will work extra hard to squeeze us in. Considering we normally come in a larger group they really do accommodate.As soon as we sit down they always ask if we want drinks and poppadoms, and always chuck some free ones in too... it's the little things like that! They've even sponsored our football team which was a huge help in gettting new kit and hosting end of season presentations.The food is always brought out hot and on hot plates which is a nice touch and keeps everything warm. If you want to adjust the spice it's never an issue and the side dishes are always good. fluffy, crispy Naans ans plentiful rice. The only thing I would say is that they could definitely add more Chicken to the mains.Overall it still ticks all the boxes for me, and clearly a lot of others as it's the busiest curry house around and that also makes for a good atmosphere.Great welcoming feel every time and i'll continue to spend my money without a doubt.

AMAZING FOOD, EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE... The food has been exceptional. I have adored Indian food since I was a child, and this place offer the best of the best. Explore the menu as you will surely not be disappointed, it has honestly been one of the best meal experiences of my life. Lovely staff, who put you at ease and make you feel like family... I personally often struggle due to my disability and this place treat everyone with respect and amazing decency, so thank you...

Table for five people booked weeks in advance and at no point told of times constraints. We arrived at 7:30PM as planned and ordered straight away. Meals served at 8:50PM; therefore, over ONE hour later!!!... side dishes too cold and to my meal they added the wrong sauce (very sweet, odd taste?). At the end of our meal at 9:40PM the waitress looked a big flustered and asked if we wanted to pay. We asked if we can order some more cold drinks as we were very thirsty and also wanted a dessert menu so she agreed but rolling her eyes.On her way back the dessert menu was snatched from her hands and replaced with our receipt by another waiter who told her: "We are over-riding and need that table NOW".The waitress rushed back to us dropping the receipt in the middle of our the table leaving swiftly without making eye contact or saying anything to us.We then asked the waiter who served us the meals earlier for coffees but he declined to serve us! He said: " You can see that are people hungry here & waiting... you can come tomorrow for desserts and coffee." I have NEVER been in such a dreadful situation! Just embarrassing and very unprofessional! After all, their kitchen staff should be blamed for serving the food too slow... not the customers! I don't think the atmosphere they created themselves at the end of our meal was necessary. They could have handled it in a more tactful way if they needed our chairs! Overall, I wasn't impressed at all: food was wrong & cold and they made our evening very unpleasant.

Been here many a time with friends.Always told it's the best Indian they've ever had & best in the area. Large restaurant with welcoming staff. Still can get very busy at weekends so booking probably advisable. Always found the food to be to a pretty good standard. Never found anything to complain about and often bump into someone who knows someone who's also dining there! Good starters, decent rice. Flavoursome mains. Although unsure if I'd call it the best, it's definitely up there & never had to complain about anything so your in for a decent meal/experience

We went to The Star last week as it was both mine and my sons birthday and he fancied a curry, so as he stayed with us we decided to go to The Star of India in Cheam which is local. I have been before and the food was ok. Not this time! We had possibly the worse curry we have ever had. Pappadoms and starters were ok but the mains were dreadful. King prawn damask, chicken dish plus a lamb dish (which was inedible as it was so tough). And to really spoil the evening my wife bit on a fairly large stone which was in one of the dishes. When the staff was informed there was no apology. Their comment was it must have been in the rice so they replaced it. Because it was a birthday celebration we didn't complain at the time as it would have spoiled our sons evening but have been in since to complain to the manager. It wasn't a cheap meal by any means (no discount offered by way of apology) and we certainly won't be returning

We have been going to this restaurant for years and whilst was always a dependable good experience it really has gone downhill, not sure if they have had a change of chef but the food we had on our last visit was pretty dreadful, service is great and we wanted it to be good as it was very off the time before so we went thinking it would go back to its normal level, such a shame, they need to look at the taste and quality of the food they are serving

Ive tried a few indian restaurants around sutton area and this is by far my favourite the food is amazing and the staff were very helpful

Poppadoms had a slightly stale taste, good mango chutney but the raita was rather thin. Chicken dish tasted sweet and a bit sickly, with lots of onion. Lamb dish tasted like stewing steak with lots of onion too. Pilau rice was rather dry and clumped together, paratha was passable but heavy. Spacious with welcoming staff but difficult to recommend the food.

I have been visiting this restaurant for over 30 years! The food is so delicious! Always excellent value for money. The staff & management are always so friendly.. I love this restaurant very much! Nothing is ever too much trouble.. Thank you ! X

The STAR is famous in our extended family! My sister insists on at least one visit whenever she comes to stay with us, as do my partner's daughter and grandsons! Atmosphere is good, service is quick but not so fast that you feel you're being rushed. Good, comprehensive menu; good choice of bottled beers; friendly staff.
