Sakura Indian Restaurant in Sutton

We went for the Sunday buffet with a few friends. Whilst the service was great the food was mediocre and only just warm , despite us being there early. It is a shame but I can understand why there were so few people there. Sorry but not for me

Oh dear... I should have read the reviews. I had a hankering for Friday lunch curry while working at home so I ordered online. Two hours later I got the cold food delivered. The food tasted quite nice, it was just very late and almost cold. They clearly have some issues based on the other reviews I see here. I hope they are able to fix things and wish them all the best, but I won't be using their services again 🙏🏾

I have a similar experience to others, it would seem... Cold food delivered late after 2 hours. Try really need to get this sorted out. The food was OK once I'd microwaved it and put the cold soggy nan bread under the grill. To be fair, the delivery company gave me a refund so I wasn't out of pocket. I wish Sakura well but I won't be using their services again 🙏🏾

First time we have had an evening meal here, although we have had Sunday Lunch Buffet once before. The restaurant was extremely busy, which created a good atmosphere, the staff were very attentive, and the food was excellent 👌. To all the staff thank you and please maintain this standard!!! Kind staff, but it's the worst asian food we had in ages. It did not look fresh, too sugary and with very little meat inside the curry.

Lovely food, friendly staff, they were happy to support with any requests we had to make. I would recommend to try the pistachio kulfi, my fiancé said it was worth the meal price on its own! Will definitely be coming back soon.

Since our last visit things have not changed too much here. Whilst the staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating, the food is rather below standard. The temperature of the food is rather low, despite being here practically at opening time. Selection is not vast either. The surroundings, decor and cleanliness is excellent however. Our visit this time was based on a teenager trying out Indian food for the first time, so for that purpose it was ideal. I find it a real shame that a restaurant that has good reviews doesn't keep up a similar standard of food when offering buffet food, which gives the wrong impression of what it can offer at other times?

Food Food cold was tasteless the chicken bits in the curry was not fresh and tasted like frozen was so dry was hard to swallow the sauces full of sugar very poor standard stay well clear

Food was delivered 35 minutes late, and the food was cold on arrival. Ordered poppadoms 67p, and I thought it would be a couple but no 1 poppadom for 67p if id known, i would have ordered more, but I'm glad i didn't as they were like rubber. Won't be going back there again.

We ordered for collection. We found the food to be competitively priced in line with other curry houses in the area. The Tikka Masala and Onion Bhaji’s were extremely tasty! Would definitely recommend.

I like a mild curry but have to agree with some previous reviews that the food is very bland with no depth of flavour. My dish had one chilli next to it but there was no heat at all.

Don’t go before 7.30 it’s dry however food is boss and service second to none

if i could give this a 0 for service i would, we booked to come here for our friends birthday and we were first told we could only have the set menu ( we had called 3 times to make sure we could have the normal a la carte menu as we were drinking too and wouldn’t be able to finish 3 courses ) he then told us if he was to give us the a la carte menu we would get charged £5 each on top ????? we then got our food, was probably the worst indian food i’ve ever had tasted too sweet to swallow and each dish tasted the exact same we then all had around 2 drinks with our meal and when the bill came i was charged £77 ?? I asked him why and how this was possible and he told me you have to just pay it, we calculated the bill and it should have been 30-35 each?? Staff were shocking and made awful comments all night, told us at the beginning to write a good review on here show them and get a feee shot (thank god i ignored them ) DON’T COME HERE!

Great restaurant, I’ve not been here for a couple of years and it’s had a refurb since. The atmosphere was great and the staff very polite and helpful in helping me choose something different to what I usually order. Drinks came very quickly and the food was piping hot and delicious, good potion size too. Lovely relaxed atmosphere would definitely come here again.

Rory Jackson tribute act was extremely entertaining, staff did very well to work around him, the only let down was the cheesecake was frozen, however a very good evening in aid of the Royal Marsden

This was our first time here despite having lived in the area for 16 years and we absolutely loved this restaurant .staff are very accommodating and polite and the general decor and environment is quite plush but also welcoming. The food is very very good - I think we may have converted to here instead of our normal local curry restaurant! We had lamb chops to start followed by chicken shashlick and lamb Dansak accompanied with rice , paratha , tarka dal and it was very very good . Not over salted or over sweetened at all . Good value for money. We will return !

Everytime I order they delay the time at least once. However on this occasion it didn't arrive at all. It's a shame as I like their food but they are unreliable.

Average experience, the food was bland, and when asked to the waiter for some hot sauce, they hadn't. When you go to an Indian restaurant you want some kick, but there wasn't any. The waiters were basically absent, we had to ask twice to get the dirty plates removed, and we were the only customers (and after been there I see why). We won't come back.

Awesome venue very close to our place, we came on Sunday for the all you can eat buffet. They have a good selection of food, from mild to hot, freshly cooked. The staff is kind and caring and the premises are neat and tidy. We'll definitely come back!

Really disappointed! Lamb bhuna was so bland, described as "packed with spicy flavours" but I couldn't find any flavour or spice, just a sea of oil. At least the lamb wasn't tough so a point redeemed. Saag aloo again had no taste, but also pretty oily. Best part of the meal was the tandoori chicken which actually had some flavour and was tender. Glad I got a discount code on deliveroo or I would have been very annoyed paying full price. What a shame, was hoping this would be a good local for the future.

For some reason today they were small supermarket prawns in a tasteless red sauce.. really disappointing for £15. The tandorrr king prawns are usually huge, blackened in the tandor oven, juicy and tasty with shell on tails, these weren't even grilled!

The order arrived without the pilau rice. I called the restaurant but was going to be at least 30mins to get the rice to me and was told to claim for a refund. But in addition to this, most of the food was just about luke warm or cold. Most of it had to be microwaved. It was not good today!

Ordered at 1744. Said delivery expected 1850 to 1910. Called the restaurant at 1925 - said it would be another ten minutes. Delivered at 1943. Very unimpressed with the delivery time. Had to be reheated

Order placed mid afternoon for Saturday evening ASAP so approx 1820. Food arrived at 1950 although got an email saying despatched at 1821. Food was luke warm at best. Tried contacting the restaurant by phone and contact on website to no avail. Steer clear.

Food was lovely, tasty and plentiful. Things to consider, 1 Buffet price is different to what is advertised on website. 2, Lunch was ruined by a very large and extremely noisy party 20+. These should really have been seated in the conservatory on their own where they wouldn't have disturbed everyone else. 3. No coffee, hot chocolate, latte available 4. Toilets are in need of repair, shabby and door sticks.

I and my daughter have both tried calling the restaurant MANY times but no answer. I have never had such poor service from this restaurant and I will never order from here again.

The order was over 1 1/2 late. Ordered at 7.20 and arrived at 10pm. The service was poor. No one answers the phone to gain an update. Food was cold when arrived due to being so late. No helpful driver or restaurant

Ordered after moving and this was go-to, but having ordered at 6:30, it took 2 hours for the food to arrive even though we are less than 10 mins away. Rang the restaurant 10 Mins after the delivery window, and was told the food had just left the kitchen and would be 20 mins....I also watched the delivery driver walk along the road and past our house, even though we live on a main road and have had no issues with other deliveries. Very disappointed, and now typing this instead of eating what should of been a treat

Masala, rice, poppadoms and mushroom tasted excellent!! The condiments tasted awful. Diluted and with aftertaste of washing up liquid. Ended up in the bin

This has got to be the worst Indian restaurant I've ever been to. I've never tasted such a bad tikka masala in my life. The food is completely tasteless. Don't waste your money and time in this restaurant.

Main was shai aubergine that tasted of sugar but nothing else. We ordered many side dishes, cauliflower (gobi), tarka Dahl (could not taste any garlic), bhindi, sag paneer, all had no spice not the slightest hint of coriander, cumin, mustard seed, curry leaf ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Garlic naan & mushroom rice also dreadful greasy paratha. I will not be going again. Nb it seems there no Indian people eating in this restaurant... I wonder why? Above is what I put on Tripadvisor to which I will add that when enquiring if the management had changed because the food was very good a year or so before the pandemic, they said it has been in the same hands for 42 years and "next time" I should ask for the food to be made spicy! I pointed out that it is an Indian restaurant so I would expect to eat Indian food (it tasted more like boiled veg) and that I would not be returning, A great pity. Another friend had a very sugary chicken korma. If the staff know that some people want exceedingly bland food, a warning would have helped. For example a wonderful Thai restaurant in Hastings always asks, "Would you like it mild, medium or hot?" and if you say Hot, they ask "Is that English hot, or Thai Hot" At least that way the customer can tailor their food choice to something that suits their pallet.

This is one of the worst Indian meals I've ever had. All the food was bland, it seemed the chef forgot to put any spice, salt or pepper in and just kept adding sugar. The paratha was more or less solid grease, too greasy to be flakey, and totally tasteless (left uneaten). I had tilapia starter & mains included aubergine, taaka dhal, cauliflower, sag paneer, mushroom rice. All edible, but loads left (no doggy bag required) and will never go back. Service was ok, a bit higgledy piggledy.

Outstanding very good and tasty we are always coming here if we are decide to have a curry. Lemon gin and the beer are tasty the food is excellent. Great portion. So yeah definitely recommend

Really enjoyed our evening. We were well looked after and the food was good and reasonably priced.

Had to wait 1 hour for food, kept asking if we want drinks, when the food finally arrived after asking for it, well it was all very bland, also everyone I was with that evening said the same of their dishes. Unfortunately a first and last time for us.. and also to add expensive

Ordered my food in plenty of time before they closed and nothing was delivered! I work late nights and sometimes have to rely on takeaways so I’m very upset and annoyed that even after the calling the restaurant 5 times nobody answered and I was left with nothing! Don’t bother ordering a takeaway from here because it won’t be delivered and you will be left very disappointed ☹️

The chicken biriyani contained lots of strong tasting hard stems (cardamom?) and 2 solid balls which appeared to be aniseed balls, that were rock hard and unexpected! The food was also cold on delivery. This restaurant usually produces good quality food but I was very disappointed on this occasion.

We had a take away. I collected it. However food was cold and bland. Some of it was burnt. I will go to St Martins in Banstead Rd

Ordered a takeaway direct from their website. Received an email at the time they said it was supposed to be delivered to say it was on its way. 20 mins later called them as it hadn’t arrived. They apologised and advised that was a mistake and it was just leaving and would be 10 mins and was that okay. We’d now been waiting 1.5 hrs so I said it was fine as long as it was hot and fresh. The food finally arrived- cold and flavourless and had we been in the restaurant we would have returned it all. The poppadums were so old and soft you couldn’t even tear them. Complete waste of money. Spoilt our evening and I won’t be using them again.
