Star Fish Bar in Wiltshire

Lovely food as always. But went above and beyond for my son’s birthday which made his day! Thank you so much guys!

The 3 fish were packed all together with greaseproof paper in between so all the batter came off stuck to the greaseproof when unwrapped. We have never had it delivered like this before. The chip shop replaced it all after we complained but said the fish always come out like that. Well we had never had it delivered like that before! They sent a note up with the replacement to say to ask for the fish to be wrapped separately in the future. We have never had to do that before!

Everything was lovely except the chips. It's been like this the last 2-3 times we've ordered. Normally the chips are lovely, soft and fluffy. However this time I can only describe them as chewy and hard. We are regular customers, but with this drop in quality and increase it price, we are considering not ordering again unless things change. I will keep an eye on the reviews. I love the Starfish Bar. I'd hate to not have our regular chippy takeaway. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 things change.

I called in to collect cod and chips for me and my wife it was very tasty the fish was gorgeous except for the BATTER it was very thick and completely SOGGY! please make it a bit thinner!!!

Went in yesterday for a small portion of chips, I made it clear that I wanted a small portion and repeated it twice.I didn’t realise until I got home and received a notification from my card that they had charged me £2.70.

Chips were warm ish , and one of the pies was solid on the top (crust)

Always had great fish and chips from Sea Master. So I ordered some for delivery. They arrived 1.5 hours after they said to expect them. Onion rings cold, fish and chips barely warm. Won't ever risk ordering for delivery again. I live 6 mins drive from the shop but the food has clearly been in the car for at least 20 mins. What a waste. A quick call to say they were so busy and delivery would be over an hour after they said it would be, would have been very helpful. Me phoning and being told it's being done now isn't the same when it still takes another hour after my first call.

food was cold, part of order missing and it was two hours late. Will never order again!

Soggy batter and flaccid chips, also the only chip shop that I’ve ever been to that doesn’t ask if you want salt and vinegar- both disappointing and bizarre.

just called to speak to someone as the chips were cold and hard and when the owner took the call he was rude iv ordered alot from here but don't think I will be ordering very often anymore guess you have never heard the customer is always right especially when it comes to food

Having ordered online several times tonight would not allow a delivery order so called a total of 10 times to be told my postcode does not exist. Finally delivery arrived 45 minutes late cold not good enough! Am very unhappy

Lovely food, the cod and chips the best I've tasted, we live in Westbury and worth the drive or delivery is available the staff are also very lovely , by far the best chip shop around.

The previous owners food was lovely-tonight the service poor and worse still the food was luke warm with soggy batter on the fish and tasteless chips and curry sauce. We would no longer recommend this fish and chip shop. They spoilt what was meant to be a nice treat.

Nearly 2 hours late and food was cold.

Asked for a small/childs portion was given a large fish and chip. Batter was soggy, fish tasteless. Chips were ok but not great. Don’t think I’ll go back there. Not impressed by the staff either, not much communication!!

From just moving down from the midlands I needed to find a really good chippy and I did. The portion sizes were big we had stuff left over and the chips are amazing, I’m so happy we’ve found this place

Took a long time to arrive which I wouldn’t have minded but feel like our weekly treat was not worth the wait or money. Portion of chips was minuscule compared to previous week, ordered a large chips and they were smaller than the portion that usually come with kids fish and chips. Vegetarian items in same bag as fish and meat, usually they are individually wrapped. Pot of curry sauce was not even full. Been a regular customer for a long time now but the last straw.

Staff were nice enough but service was really slow. I pre-ordered pick up and could tell they were struggling to find their flow within the team. Would recommend they start communicating and getting a nice rhythm. Vibe was a bit bland in comparison to the starfish bar. Will definitely give them the benefit of the doubt and try again at a later date.

One of the best fish and chips I've ever had.

I had a big meal from here last night and it was some of the best food I've had in a while. The service was fabulous ,especially considering the size of the order. The staff were all super friendly and patient. It might have to be a weekly meal! I would recommend it 100% 👍

Absolutely no point ordering in advance as they make you wait 20 minutes after they have told you to collect it because they put orders in the shop first!

I was told my food was coming and after a phone call to the takeaway it arrived late The lad who took the phone call had no idea of what he was doing When ths food arrived it was warm and the driver was miserable and only said enjoy

Last review got deleted. We said about how you guys don’t melt the cheese on cheesy chips. I rang at 8:15pm which was the latest the food should’ve arrived, I got told it was leaving yet it took another 35 minutes to arrive ? Not even a sorry from the driver…. Crazy

Sea Master Fish & Chips never disappoints with their crispy, golden batter and perfectly cooked fish.

Has had a refit from previous owners and has a very new sleek look. The food was very tasty and the portions were enormous so very good value! The only issue is service time, we ordered for collection and was told it would be 20mins, then we waited another 20min once we were in there. This has happened on multiple occasions now.

2nd time used now and for me the best haddock and chips I've had in years

Absolutely shocking food. If that’s a large chips a small must consist of 4 chips. The picture doesn’t do justice to just how small a large chips is. Normally a large will cater for 3 in this case was just enough for one person. The burger top was folded over which I have no idea how they did it. Picking up the burger it fell to pieces. Probably as it was left on top of the counter for 10 minutes to go cold whilst they cooked the chips. A soggy, cold burger and hardly any chips for £20. Obviously recovering the cost of the refit by overcharging the local community. Avoid at all costs, you will be very disappointed. Also, don’t order the chicken. The chicken inside the counter looked about as moist as a flip flop.

Delivered earlier than estimated but this was not a problem as we had asked for delivery ASAP. The fish was beautifully cooked and there was plenty of both chips and fish for us and our cat! Would recommend Starfish Bar to anyone.

I live a 2 minute drive from the takeaway so can’t understand why the burger was cold and the chips were lukewarm. The only hot food was the stuffed peppers, but they had been overcooked.

All the food was good, however paid £4.50 for what said fish finger’’s’ but only received one fish finger which was slightly larger than a normal. I think £4.50 for that is a high price.

First time visiting here after refurbishment, my husband is disabled, so was very pleased to see seats available while waiting, we had excellent fish and chips done to perfection, we will certainly come back on a regular basis, highly recommend 😊😋

Under new management and freshly refitted. I used to really like the original StarFish Bar so wasn't sure what this would be like. I ordered a 'small' cod and chips. I know I'm not a big eater, but the cod was big enough for 2 meals (plus sharing with the cat!). And the chips enough for at least 4! The fish was really fresh, the batter crispy, and the chips were much chunkier than you'd usually get from a chippy. Again, freshly cooked, and all very tasty. They were friendly, and service was quick. The ONLY downside for me, and this could simply be a learning curve.. the portion of gravy was pretty thick and almost cold... but nothing that a quick nuke in the micro didn't fix. All in all, a very pleasant first experience of the new place, and yes, I will buy from there again. Keep it up chaps 👍

My fish was amazing! Really good meal overall

Moved to Warminster back In November chose to have a takeaway from here whilst we were doing the house up before moving in. Found maggots in the fish put me off so much I haven’t had anything from a chip shop since and hence why it’s taken so long to write this review. Disgusting!

Disappointed this time, ordered large chips to divide by 3, but usually there's plenty, but this time barely enough for 2. 😔

Delivery was fine, couldn't taste and salt and vinegar which is a shame as this made the flavour lacking a bit. Battered cod skin was also soggy on one side and stuck to the paper, which meant it peeled away from the fish and didn't taste great. Other side of fish way fine

Cheesy Chips and Chicken Burger, Served by two lovely ladies, friendly and patient. Even when the shop was busy, was able to get my collection without an issue. Cheesy chips could be packaged better as they are just on two trays, maybe one of the burger boxes so the cheese doesn’t stick to the top of the tray. But overall good. Thank you

Quality has gone down since they re-appeared on Just-Eat. Medium sized chips are the size of a small chips when I ordered before they re-appeared. Also missing an item and 20 minutes over the estimated delivery time. Not sure if I'll order again.

Horrible. This place used to be good but the new owners seem to want to run it into the ground. The chips we had weren’t cooked properly, the portions are tiny and the whole thing is way too expensive. We had been using this place regularly for the last 6 years but we will never go back. Such a shame but we won’t continue to pay good money for bad food.

I've been going to this Fish n Chip shop for Donkeys years, The last few times I've noticed a change in the staff and the atmosphere, & there's a definite change in the quality of the food that is served, The last and final Fish N Chips that we have brought from here was at the weekend, 20th October 2023 The chips were anemic, Seriously pale 😑 not to mention tasteless, despite the salt and vinegar ..!!! The Fish wasn't up to much either 😕 The portion's were Seriously small, We live in harder times where having Fish N Chips is a family treat, But unless decent food is served to those of us who work hard to pay for that treat .....We personally won't be coming back to the star Fish bar in warminster... ... We always order 2 large cod 1 large chips and the sizes of the portions are getting smaller. I would say the large chips tonight were bordering on small. They always deliver early and are mostly very good. Just a little disappointed tonight.

2 of the young staff was so rude normally it’s great from here with other members but not today

The cheeseburger was delivered freezing cold, the chips were undercooked, I’ll never order from there again as it was a complete waste of my time and money (it’s under new management and the food is now very poor)

I have been coming here for the past few years and it was great portion sizes lovely staff and good quality. The last 4/5 times we have visited recently have been appalling, no tartare sauce every time and the portion sizes are now non existent, the new ‘large’ size isn’t even as big as the old ‘small’ portion so sadly we will no longer be coming here anymore
