Lovely staff--nothing too much trouble. Tried a cake similar to a fat rascal but more moist with lots of almonds/pistachios.

5/5 across the board. The French onion soup is so delicious I went back the next day. The staff are considerate, friendly and very well trained. The atmosphere is buzzing and I cannot fault one thing. When my cup of hot chocolate had spilt slightly the waitress took it back and brought me a fresh one. This is service. Old fashioned, brilliant service. WELL DONE YOU. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

We have visited previously and called in again when passing. We were welcomed and shown to a table. The menu choice, including daily "specials" is quite wide with some interesting choices. On advising of dietary requirements, great care was taken by staff to ensure that the food choices were suitable and/or could be adjusted. When served the food quality and portion sizes were excellent. Although very busy, service was friendly and pleasant throughout. The whole experience was excellent

I had the home made mackerel pate and it was served with a very fresh salad and toast. The ginger and apple cake went down very well with my Yorkshire tea too. Always friendly staff. I will return with my cousin. The lift in the store makes it possible to get to the cafe easily. Val

Have eaten here periodically over a number of years. Has always been good but now it is overrun with dogs. If you wish to eat serenaded by yapping dogs then this is the place for you. Otherwise, if you prefer hygiene and a peaceful atmosphere, give it a miss.

Perfect experience from start to finish. My first time trying this place and the service was fantastic, the food delicious and the interior beautiful! I look forward to coming back again soon. My wife also had an easy experience booking a table.

So, we dropped by this spot, and honestly, it was a pretty solid experience overall. First off, the place was spotless—tables were super clean, which is always a good start. We walked in, and the staff was immediately welcoming and friendly. You could tell they knew what they were doing. Surprisingly, the place filled up fast, and it was only a Monday in the middle of summer! My partner ordered this English breakfast bat (or bun, or bread cake—whatever you want to call it). A bit unusual, but it turned out to be pretty nice. The bread was thick, wide, and definitely more like a bread cake, which was a nice twist. The homemade black pudding was a standout—didn't have that overly dense or cakey texture you sometimes get. It wasn't too meaty or grainy either, just well-balanced. I'm a bit of a stickler for black pudding, and this one hit the mark. Oh, and the coffee? Spot on. My double espresso was strong and smooth, and my partner’s cappuccino was great too. Clearly, the barista knows their stuff. We didn't get around to trying the specials, but they looked divine. The salmon royale in particular caught our eye—looked like a real treat. If you're into eggs Benedict with a twist, this is probably worth a try. As for the vibe, it's a good spot if you need to get some work done—assuming you can handle a bit of background noise. It's not too loud, more like a moderate buzz. Plus, it's conveniently close to the A1, so if you're driving through, it's a perfect place to stop for some food and maybe even a bit of shopping (there's a TK Maxx nearby if you're into that). Only downside? Could do with more power outlets if you're planning to work. There are a few on the walls, but more wouldn't hurt. But overall, it's a really nice, clean place with friendly staff who are attentive and check for allergies. Everyone seemed happy, and the whole place had this comfortable, French-inspired vibe. Definitely worth a visit!

Just superb - every time. My go to for a gluten free breakfast sandwich and tea (with leaves on the side). The ingredients and the presentation are stand out here. Beautifully and carefully made food paying attention to detail for dietary requirements. Staff say hello when they recognise you. Just the best.

A real delight to go somewhere I had heard good things about and find it excelled all the rumours. Immediately struck by the cleanliness of the cafe echoed in the decor and the furniture. Glass windows surround the whole area which is inside Barker and Stonehouse furniture store. The food is excellent beautifully served and very tasty. Interesting and small selection but varied menu. The service was spot on. Busy but all customers seemed happy and comfortable, we were. Lots of parking at St James retail park. Easy access, lift to first floor where cafe is situated.

Wonderful place with great food and good service. Lovely environment and a good place to meet friends who are traveling on A1M and don't want to get caught in Harrogate town traffic! Would unreservedly recommend!

What lovely staff, called my mum and I ‘Ladies’ instead of ‘Guys’, I appreciate that. The food is very tasty, a good selection and we love the china cups & saucers used for tea! Background music is gentle & appropriate! Toilets are beautifully decorated!

Stanley's is consistently excellent in every way. The service is always friendly & efficient. Even when it is busy & you have to wait for a table, you never have to wait long before you are seated. There is a good choice of dishes & the food is always delicious. I would highly recommend it.

What a friendly and comfortable place for someone eating on their own.i had the most delicious rhubarb and ginger scone and a flat white coffee ,a bit pricey but well worth it The staff were knowledgeable and helpful Definitely will recommend to friends

We hadn't been to Stanley's for a while, but knew it would be as good as we remembered, and ofcourse it was! They 've had a bit of a refurb, infact the whole B and S store has, but nothing else has changed; same delicious food and first class service. Thanks to Helen and team.

Visit most weeks , always excellent. Fresh quality produce , cooked to perfection. One of the few establishment that actually makes their own cakes and scones. Can’t fault it.

We have visited this cafe/restaurant previously. It is situated in a large furniture store and very large windows provide plenty of light. The menu provided plenty of interesting choices and dietary requirements could be easily accommodated. The table service was excellent throughout. We felt as previous that the prices were slightly expensive but this did and would not prevent us visiting again.

Lunch with friends who hadn’t been before and were certainly not disappointed. Such lovely, friendly and helpful staff and nothing too much trouble. Very busy but the service was excellent and the food delicious and presented so beautifully. Lovely comfortable surroundings and sat for 2hrs catching up but under no pressure to leave. My friends very impressed and will definitely be going again as I will too.

Always great food, not cheap but worth it. The mushrooms on toast are fantastic and the French onion soup is excellent. It does get very busy so worth booking, especially if you are a large group. Worth taking some cakes away with you.

Went for lunch with my sister and dad, been again since. Highly recommended! The menu is great, something for everyone from light bites to decent meals. There are specials every day, always been a great veggie one when I've been 👍the Spanakopita was great! Hot (proper) ginger cake with ice cream and butterscotch sauce for pud, there's a great cake selection! Nice healthy options and smoothies change daily too. The staff are lovely and do a great job, well done to you all, we always feel very welcomed 👏 and is now one of our regular places. Plenty of car parking, located in Barker & Stonehouse. Handy for Next, Boots, Matalan, TK Max and M&S.

Another wonderful brunch this morning. We found this place like most people I suspect, after looking around the main store and now driver over every few Sunday mornings for breakfast/brunch. Disappointedly dumbed-down since our last visit. Sadly the owners have not put their customers as their priority. It used to have a pleasant relaxing ambience in which to relax and enjoy your beverages/meals. However more tables have now been paced in every available space and the atmosphere is more like a school dinners canteen. We'll give it a miss from now on.

Delicious breakfast, staff all made us feel very welcome, prices a bit on the steep side but excellent quality, couldn't resist the black sheep ale cake, was pretty damn good. Also great to see some dairy and soy free options on the menu, would love to see more.

Incredibly good service by warm, welcoming, friendly, attentive staff. The café itself was not what I was expecting - it is inside and upstairs of Barker and Stonehouse furnishing store. Car park is marked as private with max stay of one hour. Does have disabled parking bays. Dog friendly café. On arrival was proffered a magazine to read, nice touch, you don't get that in many places. Stylish interior. Clean environment. Plenty of staff. No wait. I had to try their cinnamon toast, as Betty's do the best in the business and, have to say, I was not disappointed with Stanley's version. Hot chocolate came in an attractive double-skinned glass and was tasty. Also had a Fentimans ginger beer. The tomato and basil soup was very tasty and I was very pleased to see it was a good and proper portion, a full bowl, not a meagre 1 ladleful that some places serve you. A sultana scone with jam and cream was good too, though the jam was very runny and had a good go at escaping its destiny of being eaten. I won, ha ha. Would recommend and would revisit, all the staff were exemplary, with bells on.

Very disappointing. Cheap supermarket looking bread bun with three small rashers of bacon £6.60. nothing special. Staff friendly and nice environment

The staff are always pleasant and polite. All the food is freshly prepared and looks fabulous. Excellent coffee too. My current favourite is the toasted cheese scone with chutney. There is something for everyone. Delish!

No complaints about staff,service or product. Extremely disappointed to discover they are not participating in the government Eat Out to Help Out scheme, WHY???? It doesn't cost them anything. I would be even more disappointed if they took advantage of the Furlough scheme!!

Despite being inside a furniture store, Stanley’s has a great vibe and ambience. Stopped for lunch there today before shopping. Lovely food, prompt service despite being very busy and all rather jolly Set me up nicely for the shopping 😊 Highly recommended 😀👍

Lucky enough to be able to visit again today and we were not disappointed. The food is of high quality with an appealing interesting menu . Whilst we have our favourites it is so exciting ~ no daring , to try something different. You will be rewarded with top quality food served from a friendly efficient team. I have read a couple of reviews quoting the cost of some items but I would point you to the fact that the food , ambiance and service represent great value for money. Just sit , enjoy and soak in the experience. Give Stanley’s the opportunity to treat you to a time of pleasure and you will walk away content, happy and certain to return. Thanks Stanley’s team - everyone deserves a gold star.

Great Cafe if you happen to find it. Hidden* inside Barker & Stonehouse (although fully visible at huge window at the roundabout) you’ll find delicious cafe food and drink in. Funky furnituresque environment. I little pricey but never a disappointment.

First visit to Stanley’s with friends after a walk. Nice surroundings, great staff and an interesting menu. Good size portions so go when you are hungry.

Me and my partner were in the area and found this place on TripAdvisor. We decide to go for lunch and we were surprised to find a lovely, welcoming place.The service was exceptional. We decide to try few dishes and share it. The chef portioned all food for 2 in different plates.The blonde girl who served us was unbelievable. Very pleasant, professional and helpful.Fantastic place. Very impressed!
