I had a wonderful experience at this Indian restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious — rich in flavor and a true taste of authentic Indian cuisine. What really made the visit exceptional was the service. Ahmed went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and special. His hospitality added a personal touch that made the meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great food and outstanding service!

I've been a regular at the Standard Balti for 30 years and in that time I've been very happy with this restaurant, even when there has been a change of management. The standard was aquired by the owners of Sheba in February. They have got rid of the original chef and changed the menu completely and there are items that are no longer available like Himalayan Chilli Chicken, Garka Lamb, Mixed Starter which was a mixture of sheek kebab, chicken tikka, onion bargie and lamb tikka. There was nothing wrong with the old menu whatsoever, but yet they had to change it to the Sheba menu. What is the point of that? The restaurant had a good business model and there was no need to make any changes, maybe introduce a couple of new items to the menu. I come here as a group of 12 people and we all feel the same way. It says on the menu that you can request a dish that is not on the menu, but when several of us asked for this it was refused. As for Piash, he was a lovely waiter, but now seems to have a bit of attitude. We have now decided that after 30 years we will be taking our business elsewhere and I should imagine that there are other regulars who feel this way.

La comida era buena, pero me ofreció descuento para dejar de usar la casa de curry de al lado ofreciéndome un descuento de una sola vez del 50%, luego llegó la factura revisé y cuestioné descuento, el descuento llevó la factura a £ 75. 00 , pero luego días después comprobó billete de tarjeta y encontró £ 5 . 00 de la cuenta, los chicos usan la casa de al lado, la comida es mejor y sus honestos

Excelente ubicación en el famoso Brick Lane. Personal amable, que se veía inteligente en sus uniformes. Mesas muy bien colocadas, con manteles muy limpios. Excelente menú. Los bhajis de cebolla más sabrosos que he probado durante mucho tiempo. Poppadoms muy crujientes y sabrosos. Todos estábamos contentos con nuestros platos principales - la mayoría de nosotros no podíamos terminar las porciones generosas (que el personal estaba feliz de empacar para que nos lleve). Estábamos celebrando un cumpleaños y el personal nos ayudó con eso y llevó a los otros comensales en una interpretación emocionante de "Happy Birthday To You", que el cumpleañero amaba. Y para colmo, te permiten traer tu propia bebida, así que ahorramos mucho en bebidas.

Food was good but they messed up our starter. Brought a dish too late and overall it was very expensive. Didn’t bring any tap water

Fantastic food, fantastic music and fantastic service from Ahmed! We particularly enjoyed the sizzling tandoor paneer which was charred to perfection! The paneer tikka masala was vibrant, sweet and perfectly spiced. All our needs were met and we ordered an off the menu cheese and garlic naan and they happily obliged. Truly a family run institution with fresh, stand out dishes which puts this restaurant above the others in Brick Lane.

Me and my sister came here for dinner and loved our meal! Ahmed was very hospitable and took great care of us. I had the shofi gust / 2 chilis which had lamb and pumpkin and my sister had the garlic chicken grill bhuna/ 3 chilis.

Curry was nice but starters were awful, frozen fried and tasteless. Staff were friendly but didn’t have a clue how to deal with an allergen and effectively told me I couldn’t eat anything I ordered because it had peanuts in it, even though butter chicken and tikka masala I’ve never come across with peanuts. Came back after we ordered to say I couldn’t have pakora either for the same reason, wasn’t until I said we’ll just go elsewhere they said they can do it without tikka that apparently had peanut paste in it (which they weren’t sure of because it’s not made fresh but made out of house). Luckily we used first table so got 50% off all food but would not go back.

We had an absolutely lovely evening meal at The Standard, and can’t thank the staff enough for their incredible hospitality - it really made the experience so much better and we really felt welcomed. The food is absolutely unmatched, top quality! The meats were so soft and juicy, our favourite dishes were the mixed grill, and the lamb ladyfinger curry in particular, but each dish was carefully crafted, and very tasty. We also really enjoyed the mango lassi! Portion sizes were also very large, which was great! Thank you to the wait staff, unfortunately we didn’t catch everyone’s names - but also a special thank you to Atiq Mohammed for his incredible hospitality and kindness! 5/5, we will definitely return when we are next in London.

AVOID THIS SCAM! I bought a Groupon voucher which clearly stated ANY Starter + ANY Signature/Traditional Main Course + ANY Rice/Bread + Beer/Wine for a reasonable price. When I reached there, I was told by multiple servers and the boss that I could only order from a cut-down menu (likely because the voucher offered substantial discount which they weren't happy with). I repeatedly told them that I purchased the voucher only because of the menu advertised on the website but they dismissed it and kept asking if I was ready to order from the menu which didn't contain what I wanted.. I ended up sitting in the restaurant for more than 30 mins chatting with the incompetent customer services from Groupon who kept asking me to wait patiently. (For what might I ask?) Eventually a guy came up to me and said that I could order what was on the menu that came with the voucher though I still wasn't able to order a few items because the menu was "wrong". The food finally arrived but to my disappointment. The starter was average at best but the main dish was utterly unpalatable. I had a few bites and left the restaurant as I didn't want to go through with the tortorous experience that is supposedly the best Indian place in Brick Lane. "Voted Best Indian" - don't kid yourself scammers. I could easily find an Indian place which offers way better dishes and customer services than you.

Verdaderamente excelente servicio de Atiq y Mohammed. Vine a cenar aquí basado en recomendaciones y mi sobrino de 15 años y yo nos encantó. Teníamos entrantes de tikka cada uno que eran sabrosos y suculentos servidos con ensalada fresca. Luego tuvimos dos platos de pollo al curry para compartir. Las porciones eran enormes con el mejor naan de ajo que hemos probado. No puedo recomendar el lugar lo suficientemente alto y estamos muy bienvenidos Recomendado 100 %
