Fabulous time at Bengal Village Tommy was a wonderful host and we had a great deal and meal for 7 people ❤️🥰

Lovely meal. Good service. Enjoyed the Bombay Blast chicken- spicy without being too crazy. Quick service. And appreciated that a solo diner not an issue. Had appetizer, maindish, rice, Naan and small beer. Reasonably priced especially for London.

Lamb vindaloo is very spicy - great for those who love heat! Garka lamb is flavorful and not too hot either!

The good and service was generally good. "London's Hottest Curry" is sold here. It is hot but it is not a curry. It is just a lot of chilly powder thrown on the top of meat and sauce. Not cooked or marinated well at all. All the other dishes are really good and tasty. I would steer clear of their bragging curry.

I went to bengal village as it had such a good rating on trip advisor and because brick lane is renowned for Indian food. I have to say it was decidedly average and better can be found on any local Indian on your high street

Went here for a solo dinner, and had a great experience. I really enjoyed the food itself and the service was great! They have a good selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes as well.

I had high hopes for this restaurant based on the glowing reviews, but my experience was disappointing. The service was good—attentive and friendly. I also really enjoyed the vegetable starters, which were flavorful and well-prepared, as well as the naan and roti, which were fresh and perfectly made. I ordered a selection of vegetarian side dishes instead of a main. While I enjoyed the aubergines and the saag paneer, the other dishes fell short. The tarka dal was bland and uninspired, and the chickpeas were similarly underwhelming. As someone who regularly eats and cooks Indian food, I found the flavors lacking compared to what I’m used to. What’s worse, about an hour after the meal, I started experiencing severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, and nausea. I haven’t eaten anything else all day, so I’m confident it was caused by the food here. I’ve never been sick after eating Indian food before, whether at home or at restaurants, so this was a shocking and miserable experience. While the service and some dishes were enjoyable, the food safety concerns and inconsistent quality mean I wouldn’t return or recommend it. I would give a max of 3.5

Nice evening at the bengal village

Visited the Bengali village on brick lane. Amazing experience as the place was buzzing. Decided to enter here as all the other Indian restaurants was empty and this place was clearly very popular. Thank you to my waiter who kept us entertained, he is also on tik tok and says fire fire! The food was amazing and the ambience was perfect. Will most surely be back again!

Avoid at All Costs: A Disastrous Dining Experience Our recent visit to Bengal Village was an absolute disaster. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was off-putting with jarringly loud, outdated pop music blaring constantly. The service was incredibly inefficient. Only one server, armed with an iPad, was responsible for taking orders, resulting in an excruciatingly long wait. Despite numerous servers milling about, this single point of order-taking created a chaotic and frustrating experience. But the most concerning issue involved my daughter's severe allergy. She is allergic to peanuts and pistachios, and she ordered a seemingly safe dish, butter chicken. The menu provided no allergy warnings, and the server failed to mention any potential allergens. Tragically, a single bite triggered a severe allergic reaction. To our utter dismay, the management offered no apologies, took no action to rectify the situation, and demonstrated a complete lack of concern for my daughter's well-being. This experience was truly appalling. I strongly advise anyone considering dining at Bengal Village to avoid it entirely. Frankly, we have far superior Indian restaurants in Hoboken, New Jersey. This establishment does not deserve your patronage.

The food was okay—not bad, but not exceptional either. However, there are several points that need significant improvement: 1. Hygiene practices: I noticed that the waiters use the same tissue for multiple purposes. If you observe closely, they use it to wipe their mouths, cough into it, and then handle cutlery or dishes. This is not hygienic at all. 2. Smoke and fire alarm issues: When certain dishes were brought to customers, the process triggered the fire alarm at least twice within an hour. The restaurant filled with smoke, causing nearly all the guests to cough. It seems the staff are used to this, but it’s definitely not ideal for customers’ health. 3. Billing process: When you ask for the bill, they first bring an empty tray with a QR code asking for a review and offer you a shot of Bailey’s. You then have to ask again to actually get the bill. Overall, not a great experience, especially in terms of hygiene.

I would prefer Indian music 😀. Very good food and nice service!

If you really want to enjoy typical Indian cuisine, try alternatives.

Not an enjoyable meal The butter chicken and chicken tika masala were both sub standard and portions small. Also watch out for the hidden costs. We assumed we were being provided with tap water but Lo and behold we were charged for each bottle. A mandatory 12.5% gratuity was also added on even though they got half the order wrong

Food is average, nothing special, touristic food. Service is ok, but then they told me that apparently payment by card is not accepted, while machine was working with other clients, that's a no go!!!

On a cold London evening, Tommy and his team greeted us with such warmth that it instantly lifted our spirits. The food was exceptional—beautifully prepared and bursting with unique flavours you don’t often find elsewhere. Every dish felt thoughtful and original, and the service was attentive without ever feeling rushed. To round off the night, we were treated to a complimentary shot, which was such a lovely touch. Great value, incredible food, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere—we’ll definitely be back for more!

Nice food and good service. We got a good recommendation from the server Mabz, in terms of what to order and was not disappointed. It was however quite loud in the restaurant due to many people.

We were there for dinner on December 26th, 2024. It was fantastic. We were warmly welcomed and served very friendly. The staff around Tommy and Mess were simply great. We would love to come back when we are in London. You can reserve on the homepage and it works perfectly.

Best Indian food in Whitechapel

I wont trust the high reviews with this place! So many hidden tricks here to upsell you things without disclosing things when you booked! You must order entree? Yeah right! One of them shoving the menu at us demanded to order more than we could eat for the main! Passive aggressively wanted us to pay cash?! It’s just tricks when you just wanted to eat peacefully! This place doesn’t care about potential food waste just wants more money than what they could deliver. A total ripped off in the most unsubtle way possible. Aside from this experience, food is not as good as it described as seeing the reviews you’ve come with such high expectation but the service really turned us down! If you really trust your product there’s no need for that scheme marketing!

To serve that kind of food under the label „Indian“ in Brick Lane is a joke. The restaurant is far from authentic and their business model seems to be bribing their customers into giving them good reviews by offering baileys shots. The waiters told us we have to get cash from the ATM down the street since we are „young customers“ (we are all 30) and wouldn‘t let us pay by card. When we insisted on paying by card they would ignore us for 20 minutes. Several other tables also had issues with the waiters in the meantime. I know that you will simply just have to deal with that type of service, but if the food is not up to standard by any means it is unacceptable. 0 out of 5 - Cannot recommend.

We were lured in with a good review. The food was below average. After the meal we were urged by our waiter to give a good review. When he realized that we weren't going to give a review, he wanted to get us to do it with shots. Afterwards he didn't want to let us pay with a card even though the next table was just about to pay (with a card). We made it clear to him that we weren't going to be taken for a ride and that we weren't going to look for an ATM right now. I hope that this review helps one or two people make a decision.
