Fantastic lunch yesterday. We had the 8 course tasting menu and it really was a good choice. Mrs Todiwala looks after you with such class, and makes you feel like you’re family. Loved how chef Cyrus is so visible preparing your food, and that he is still so passionate about what he does. Quiet in the restaurant today, but enjoyed interacting with Cyrus while he was working. We were very impressed with how he takes the time to come and chat to every table after service. Would love to visit again and highly recommend.

I have been eating Cyrus Todiwala's food for 20 years. He offers the best Indian food in London. They were in Whitechapel for 25 years, but the new location at Royal Albert Wharf is lovely. It's worth the easy ride from central London. The restaurant is beautifuly appointed and right on the water. On our recent lunch we started with the delicious beet root samosa chaat, the green papaya and mango salad, and the scrumptious garlic chilli and ginger prawn balls. All were outstanding. We went veg with a baigan bharta, saag paneer, and the not-to- be-missed dal tadka. The chilli cheese nan is a must. We don't usually do dessert but Cyrus' kulfi is irresistible. I had my favorite rose kulfi and my partner opted for the hazelnut chocolate almond. Just scrumptious. Don't miss the masala tea. The service is excellent. Cyrus and Pervin are genial hosts who really care about your experience. The venue is good for groups and parties. You will not be disappointed.

The best bits about this meal were : the Maitre de - she was very welcoming and helpful, the starters and desert. We would have preferred it if the spice levels were dialled up to traditional Indian taste buds.

Blown away by the vip food and service at this hidden gem. My mum and dad were chuffed to bits to be visited at the table by the chef they’ve seen and admired on the Saturday kitchen. Too many awards to count in the hallway- including a letter from the queen- yet a welcoming and relaxed family atmosphere. Cyrus and Pervin and their team made our night truly special. The service was excellent (big thank to Cyrus’s son ) who explain all the dishes and was so helpful We had my two teenage grandsons and they can be a bit fussy with Asian cuisine but everything was explained to them and they Nate everything. The beef special was great and the chilli onion Dosa was spicy but very tasty - prawn curry with rice was my wife’s favourite We had several dishes and shared among us all of which were excellent To finish you must try the apple samosas they are so good A big thank to all for making us so welcome

We had a great experience at Cafe Spice. The service was very personal and friendly with recommendations provided on the menu items. Food was delivered quite quickly and more dishes could be ordered as needed. Some items were a little different to the traditional presentation - e.g. chicken tikka was not the typical cubes of chicken in a very orange hue. Cyrus was coordinating things in the kitchen and took time to come and chat with all diners towards the end of the evening.

Was looking forward to coming here after finding out they had reopened. Had previously enjoyed dining there when it was in Aldgate. Unfortunately the place seems to have taken a turn for the worse. The menu is tapas-style now. Dishes are still tasty but some of the higher priced sharing bowls are not even enough for 1 let alone 2. They won’t do a plain naan, only garlic or peshwari. The fact they refused made it feel like the naan is pre-made and not fresh. And the garlic naan is so garlicky it overpowers anything you eat with it. The home made kulfi was the saving grace. Would go back just for that. Parking is a nightmare. You have to park in specific spaces, go inside and get a parking permit, go back out and put it in the car. If those spaces are full and you drove there, you might as well turn around and go home or expect a hefty fine.

This is the best restaurant and London, and an absolute must-visit for anybody who enjoys food or new cultural experiences. I learn something new every time I go. Although I miss the ostrich bhuna of bygone years, there is so much choice on the menu that I spend a while just enjoying the experience of choosing. This time, I particularly enjoyed the beetroot chaat and the paneer chaat (the latter from the seasonal menu), and the raspberry and sorrel sorbet. The hospitality staff even brought out a cake for my boyfriend's birthday - without being asked - with a beautiful sparkler. This was a lovely addition to an already 10/10 meal and experience. Chef Todiwala has set up a kitchen where the food is absolutely excellent, it feels very modern with hybrid cuisine, and the atmosphere is just lovely. I could not recommend this restaurant enough, and I for one really enjoy travelling on the DLR and the clean air around the docks.

I took a friend who had never heard of this place. Having been before and having previously a great experience. I was keen to return. Arriving in the evening for the Khaadraas supper club event. A set menu of three courses, consisting of beautifully crafted and presented dishes. My friend had concerns, as he had never heard of these dishes before and was more used to the traditional Indian restaurants in town. He need not have worried. As soon as the first bite of our starter was taken, he was blown away with the flavour, each bite better than the last. Because of how popular this evening was. Each course had some time before the next. This made the evening all the more relaxing as you never felt rushed. In addition, this gave is opportunity to savour the Malabar ipa (a little pricey) which matched up well with our food. For dessert we had Cyrus's take on Creme Caramel. On first spoonful my friend was not so impressed. By the second, he was converted and devoured it! My friends comment at the end of this meal, was that it was probably the best Indian dinner that he had ever eaten. We must say a huge thank you to Cyrus, Pervin and all the wonderful team for such a fantastic experience. I hope to be back in the near future.

I don’t normally like indian food since i’m not good with spice, but there was something for everyone on the menu. The flavours were exquisite without the chilli being overbearing. Last year we went to an indian style curry michelin star restaurant and it didn’t come close to the quality and service we received at cafe spice. We were welcomed into the restaurant , which at 1 pm was empty (for the whole time we were there, there were only 2 other diners). The three of us had the tasting menu (£75 per person). We enjoyed the thick crisps with 4 home made dips and the first course of slices of duck on a bed of greenery and a sweet sauce. The next few courses were interesting but progressively more spicy hot. A large samosa had lots of tiny bits of green chilly in it and was so spicy hot that it burnt my tongue, which was still sore the next day. By this time we were full so couldn't do justice to the next dish of 3 types of meat. We skipped the next courses and went to the dessert. We should have checked how hot the food would be before we ordered. The cost of the wine was reasonable. The hot spiciness of some of the food detracted from what was otherwise a very enjoyable lunch.

We had an amazing meal at Café Spice Namasté on Friday evening. It was a special menu in celebration of Parsee New Year. There were five courses although most of them could have quite happily been a meal in themselves. Cyrus Todiwala, the chef-patron, described all the food to begin with and the flavours of each dish lived up to the descriptions. A particular highlight was the chicken thigh marinated in hot green masala, crumbed and egg-fried, with a delicious Russian salad to go with it. Cyrus has always been a good chef. But last night he joined the ranks of great Indian Chefs. Cafe Spice Namasté is now on a par with Chutney Mary in London and The Indian Accent in Delhi. You won’t get chicken tikka masala but you will enjoy genuine Indian food based on Cyrus deep and varied knowledge of Indian cuisine. Sometimes even with a modern twist. And sometimes with a talk about what you are eating. He is a fascinating speaker and willing to share his secrets with those of us who aspire to knocking off his top spot. Some hopes! Whenever I think I am there he pulls something new out of the hat. Great raw materials rule and Cyrus supports rare breeds and small producers. Try his ice cream made specially for Cafe Spice. The view of the old Royal Docks is great at sunset. Mrs Todiwalla, Pervin leads the front of house with warmth, a smile and skill and a team of long term staff who are super friendly and recognise old friends and welcome new ones. However busy they are they seem to have time and a smile for everyone. There is even a Tamil in the open kitchen and he stops work for me to practice my basic Tamil. And prices are remarkably reasonable so go quickly before Cyrus gets the Michelin star he deserves and prices are forced up.

Tricky to get to if one doesn’t follow the directions on ‘how to find us’ obediently. Warmth of welcome is heart warming. Mr and Mrs Todiwallah and staff are friendly and food is good. We chose Indian dishes not on the menu of our local Indian menus. So we had the Goan pork vindaloo and okra which were nicely accompanied by the caramel onion basmati rice. The mango and papaya salad though finely cut and nicely presented could have had a sharper dressing. Apple crumble samosa with ice cream was delightful. Bibineca a Goan pancake is an acquired texture but lovely coconut taste. Pistachio kulfi very fine texture and thinly sliced. I would have preferred it served chunkier and rolled in chopped pistachio nuts, less chance of melting before reaching the table. A spice trail indeed getting here but most memorable meal.

Do not judge cafe spice as your typical Indian restaurant. Although you may recognise some of the names of the dishes, don't be fooled. This is Indian food fine dining. A selection of perfectly spiced and blended taste sensations are available as sharing bowls or individual taste trips. The cost of the food is very affordable, complimented by some great value wines. We've been here for two brilliant Burns Nights events but wanted to come back and try the standard menu. Absolutely fantastic. To be greeted at the door by Cyrus and his wife is truly magical. It is such an enjoyable atmosphere and experience. Food - they encourage a small plates tapas style so we had poppadums' with dips to start which were great - instead of flat they were like little small bowls so you could fill them with the dips. We then chose a dish each with a nan to share. The seabass was outstanding but all dishes lovely. Then we did round two - another 4 main dishes with a couple of bowls of rice to share. So we tried eight main dishes, two types of nan and two types of rice. The flavours are just amazing unlike any other Indian restaurant you can go to. Dessert - no-one has a pudding in an Indian, it's always just a frozen ice cream. But not here. An apple and cinnamon samosa with ice cream, a Portuguese pancake with ice cream and a cardamom spiced creme brulee. Truly delicious. And the cost is very reasonable for such wonderful food.

I'm not sure why other reviews are so high for Cafe Spice Namaste but each to their own. I went here some time ago and it was good so came again. The menu is, I can't use any other word, quite bland. And unoriginal. A chicken and potato dish was nice, everything else, forgettable. Also, the place was of people sucki long up to Mr T, who admittedly was a nice man, which made it feel like a place for people to hunt selfies. Very expensive too, for a restaurant in a housing estate in a rough part of London. Regrettably, very disappointed. Try Dishoom instead, it's vastly superior

The one thing that you are guaranteed when you dine here, is the warmest of welcomes, and an exceptional level of hospitality, you truly do feel like you are a guest rather than a customer. As always the food is beautifully presented, and tastes amazing. Also, compared to a lot of other fine dining establishments we have visited, the price points for the food offer fantastic value for money. Without question, we will be back again.

The food is always superb! The ambience so friendly and inviting (not to leave out the spectacular views from the restaurant), and Chef Cyrus and his lovely wife (and right hand "man") Pervin, are the perfect hosts. All the staff are so pleasant and helpful too. Thank you for a special evening!

Staying at the doubletree hotel near city airport and found this place using google… absolutely brilliant food… authentic, tasty, great value… I love Indian food and I’m very fussy… this is a cut above your normal bland one pot curries. Every dish we had was great. Owners were super nice and helpful.., they were v busy and we had not booked but they squeezed us in.

I will try and be as polite as possible. Although when entering the restaurant the staff were very pleasant and welcoming, in my opinion it may be to compensate for the lack of flavour and everything else wrong food wise. First of all, the portions are really small. The dishes stated on the menu that are supposedly “shared bowls” are the size for one person. Both my naan and my friends naan were burnt. I also ordered a beef tikka which ended up being raw in the middle. For the price it is not worth it to be honest. I was really disappointed especially after seing all there high reviews I don’t know if I ordered the wrong dish or the cook was not as his best the day I went. But what is certain is I am not going back. Conclusion: I do not recommend and the food needs to be revised

Absolutely fabulous food, service and atmosphere. The beetroot and coconut chat were particularly divine. You are invited to pick from a selection of small plates, all so tasty, fresh and different. This is great food in a friendly, relaxed restaurant in the historic docklands. Easy to get to from DLR. Mr and Mrs Todiwala were hands on and available to welcome and chat to all of the guests.

What a fantastic restaurant this is in every way. We travelled down from Blackpool to visit our daughter who lives in the area and decided to try this place, mainly because of the chef, and were so impressed. What a lovely man Cyrus is along with his staff. He has a really welcoming personality and produces outstanding food. This was so good we will be back. Highly recommended in every way.

Cafe Spice Namaste This without doubt is our favourite Indian restaurant and to be honest it’s not hard to see why. We’ve been coming here quite regularly in recent years for their fabulous khaadras clubs , burns nights and other events. We’ve also on occasions enjoyed the amazing tasting menu. On Saturday we wanted to go for the A la Carte which we haven’t tried for a while and what a perfect time to do so as the menu was full of NEW and exciting dishes. The restaurant is just a short five minute walk from Gallions Reach DLR and sits on the river thames giving you amazing views of city airport and Canary Wharf. When you enter you will be given a friendly welcome from the team and especially your fantastic hosts Cyrus and Pervin Todiwala. We took our seats and with delight looked at all the new dishes on the menu and specials board. There was also a new cocktails and a new beer as well so it was obvious we were in for another great afternoon. I indeed started with the New Glengoyne Long Zest cocktail with whiskey , vanilla , syrup , ginger ale and angostura bitters. We then chose four dishes from the small plates to begin which were the special Chicken Tikka Naanwich , the Kale , spinach and onion bhajias , the Petra Ni Machchi and the Onion and Chilli Dosa. All the food was absolutely delicious with the flavours and spices bouncing around your palate with joy. After a little break it was now time for the main courses which we accompanied with the new Malabar IPA and a bottle of Tiki Estate 2023 Sauvignon Blanc full of tropical notes and a hint of lemongrass. Our manis were the Spiced Ginger Lamb Cutlets , Paneer and Pea Khurma , Caramelised Onion Rice and the Dynamite Potatoes that were all incredible. We finished with dessert where my wife chose her favourite the Parsee Apricot Toffee Caramel ice cream and I opted for the delicious Bebinca with vanilla ice cream. This brought to an end a fabulous afternoon but not before Cyrus and Pervin sat down with us for a nice chat which also gave us the perfect opportunity to thank them and the team. I really can’t recommend a visit here highly enough and are looking forward to many more amazing dining experiences here in the future. Thank You Cyrus , Pervin and all the team and see you again very soon.

What a lovely evening, we went with our boy to see cyris and he lovely wife. We had the tasting menu that was extremely tasty with plenty of food as sometimes you have a tasting menu and have to get a kebab on the way home, this was definitely not that situation we had to call it a day after 7 courses as was stuffed with best food I think I've ever had. They staff are terrific as soon as you walk through the door it feels like you are family and nothing at all is a problem. Mrs T😂 came and asked us what we can and can't eat, then every course that came she came over and explained what we were having. It was one of best nights of my food eating life as I'm a great fan of Mr T and both him and his wife signed a book for me which just topped everything off. In some restaurants that people on Tele say they WORK in and you never see them, he was in the kitchen and then talking to us all when he chance as he was busy cooking. We cannot wait to go back, thank you very very much, from TAFF, and family xxxxx

I thought I'd come here and drop a bomb about the disgusting attitude of the staff at Curry Bazaar but I see that others have already done it... As soon as I'd finished my meal and before I'd managed to place the cutlery in the finished position, they came round to clear the table. Red flag. They brought me the bill without me asking for it. Red flag. Dessert was not offered. They seemed bothered that I checked the bill before I paid. A couple of chocolates were brought with the bill and I still had half of a bottle of water left, which I'd paid for. But while I was trying to eat the chocolate they came to the table and started removing the table cloth saying that someone else was waiting for the table... Not really my problem. My things were pushed over the table. I told them they were being appallingly rude and that I had been charged for service. They started shouting at me. I told them that I do not tolerate being shouted at. They told me they had said to people that I'd be 5 minutes and the table would be free... Really? I never said that. Thanks for kicking me out. They were literally all over me standing uncomfortably close. They left me with a dirty stained table cloth in their attempt to force me to leave. They then told me I talk too much. I've never been treated with such rudeness and lack of respect in ANY restaurant I have ever been to in Brick Lane or beyond. The staff have literally 0 awareness of social norms, customer service or respect for customers. The place was really loud all the time I was there with yobs swearing loudly without any intervention by the staff. Now I understand why. The food tasted good but the lamb was tough and chewy and full of fibre. The food is better at the City Spice just opposite and when it comes to service you can't go wrong anywhere else by here. Worst service ever. If I could I would give them a minus 5 star rating. I am sorry that I left a single pound here. The ladies' toilet was also smelly with no toilet roll and the sink hadn't been cleaned for a few weeks and was reeking because of it. Absolutely disgusting place and staff. Ruined my evening. I'd only send my enemy to eat here.
