The food was so bad. Too oily and the garlic naan was straight out of a frozen packet with butter on it. The food was so so disappointing with poor choice of vegetables and bland taste. Expensive too (£52). The saddest Indian restaurant I've tried in London. The location and ambience is great!

Some dishes are tasty, but some have no taste. Staff are fantastic. What we didn't like is the portion size. They are kid portion size with high price. Compared to nearby restaurants such as Windjammer, they have great food, great service, BUT good portion with similar pricing. I wouldn't bother going again. Taste Of Indian in East Ham has better food and better portion size AND cheaper, too.

Visited yesterday evening and had an excellent meal. The team are very welcoming and the decor bright and cheerful. We started with delicous garam masala Old Fashioneds from the innovative cocktail menu, then starters of Chicken Cafreal Zambeziana (tender chicken with a piquant green sauce on delicous crushed potatoes) and Lamb Samosas (very delicate, an elevated samosa experience). This was followed by garlic naan bread, spiced fried paneer (quite hot), and the Parsee Lamb Dhaansaak, one of their signature dishes. A dessert of nutmeg spiced creme caramel was a cooling finish. Everything was delicious and we are looking forward to returning to try more of the extensive menu.

Had been intending to dine here for ages and planned in a visit to tie in with a trip to the ExCel centre. So many great dishes on the menu, it was difficult to choose just a few - but we selected the Chicken Cafreal Zambeziana (tender chicken with a piquant green sauce on delicous crushed potatoes), Lamb Samosas (very delicate, an elevated samosa experience), garlic naan bread, spiced fried paneer which was actually quite chilli-hot, and the Parsee Lamb Dhaansaak, one of their signature dishes, with tender lamb served in dhansak sauce with caramelised onion rice. We just had room after for dessert of nutmeg spiced creme caramel, and a scoop of Belgian dark chocolate ice cream. I'm still thinking about the garam masala spiced Old Fashioned I had to start, and we had a decent bottle of rose wine with the meal. The team were all very welcoming and friendly, and it was a very relaxed and pleasant dining experience. Looking forward to a return visit, hopefully during a lighter spring evening with views out over the docklands.

Having met Cyrus and Pervin on the Good Food cruise last year we decided to visit their restaurant and sample their food. What a wonderful experience, fantastic food and drink with excellent service from good staff. Previn runs the front of house and is a great host making sure all customers are well looked after, while Cyrus runs a kitchen that produces the most amazing food. Cyrus and Pervin Todiwala, and the whole team, were incredibly welcoming and friendly - checking in with us during the meal but not overbearing. The food was delicious and moreish, without feeling gluttonous. Particular favourites were the beetroot and coconut samosa chatt, ginger seasoned lamb cutlets, followed by the apple crumble samosa and zafrani creme brulee!! A wonderful evening and looking forward to visiting again soon.

I have been eating Cyrus Todiwala's food for 20 years. He offers the best Indian food in London. They were in Whitechapel for 25 years, but the new location at Royal Albert Wharf is lovely. It's worth the easy ride from central London. The restaurant is beautifuly appointed and right on the water. On our recent lunch we started with the delicious beet root samosa chaat, the green papaya and mango salad, and the scrumptious garlic chilli and ginger prawn balls. All were outstanding. We went veg with a baigan bharta, saag paneer, and the not-to- be-missed dal tadka. The chilli cheese nan is a must. We don't usually do dessert but Cyrus' kulfi is irresistible. I had my favorite rose kulfi and my partner opted for the hazelnut chocolate almond. Just scrumptious. Don't miss the masala tea. The service is excellent. Cyrus and Pervin are genial hosts who really care about your experience. The venue is good for groups and parties. You will not be disappointed.

We had a great experience at Cafe Spice. The service was very personal and friendly with recommendations provided on the menu items. Food was delivered quite quickly and more dishes could be ordered as needed. Was looking forward to coming here after finding out they had reopened. Had previously enjoyed dining there when it was in Aldgate. Unfortunately the place seems to have taken a turn for the worse. The menu is tapas-style now. Dishes are still tasty but some of the higher priced sharing bowls are not even enough for 1 let alone 2. They won’t do a plain naan, only garlic or peshwari. The fact they refused made it feel like the naan is pre-made and not fresh. And the garlic naan is so garlicky it overpowers anything you eat with it. The home made kulfi was the saving grace. Would go back just for that. Parking is a nightmare. You have to park in specific spaces, go inside and get a parking permit, go back out and put it in the car. If those spaces are full and you drove there, you might as well turn around and go home or expect a hefty fine.

This is the best restaurant and London, and an absolute must-visit for anybody who enjoys food or new cultural experiences. I learn something new every time I go. Although I miss the ostrich bhuna of bygone years, there is so much choice on the menu that I spend a while just enjoying the experience of choosing. This time, I particularly enjoyed the beetroot chaat and the paneer chaat (the latter from the seasonal menu), and the raspberry and sorrel sorbet. The hospitality staff even brought out a cake for my boyfriend's birthday - without being asked - with a beautiful sparkler. This was a lovely addition to an already 10/10 meal and experience. Chef Todiwala has set up a kitchen where the food is absolutely excellent, it feels very modern with hybrid cuisine, and the atmosphere is just lovely. I took a friend who had never heard of this place. Having been before and having previously a great experience. I was keen to return. Arriving in the evening for the Khaadraas supper club event. A set menu of three courses, consisting of beautifully crafted and presented dishes. My friend had concerns, as he had never heard of these dishes before and was more used to the traditional Indian restaurants in town. He need not have worried. As soon as the first bite of our starter was taken, he was blown away with the flavour, each bite better than the last. Because of how popular this evening was. Each course had some time before the next. This made the evening all the more relaxing as you never felt rushed. In addition, this gave is opportunity to savour the Malabar ipa (a little pricey) which matched up well with our food. For dessert we had Cyrus's take on Creme Caramel. On first spoonful my friend was not so impressed. By the second, he was converted and devoured it! My friends comment at the end of this meal, was that it was probably the best Indian dinner that he had ever eaten. We were welcomed into the restaurant , which at 1 pm was empty (for the whole time we were there, there were only 2 other diners). The three of us had the tasting menu (£75 per person). We enjoyed the thick crisps with 4 home made dips and the first course of slices of duck on a bed of greenery and a sweet sauce. The next few courses were interesting but progressively more spicy hot. A large samosa had lots of tiny bits of green chilly in it and was so spicy hot that it burnt my tongue, which was still sore the next day. By this time we were full so couldn't do justice to the next dish of 3 types of meat. We skipped the next courses and went to the dessert. We should have checked how hot the food would be before we ordered. The cost of the wine was reasonable. The hot spiciness of some of the food detracted from what was otherwise a very enjoyable lunch.

Great place for family, couples and friends to enjoy the best food which is cooked exceptionally by the best indian chef!!! Best place to have party or to have them cater for any events!

We had a fantastic graduation party for our son at Cafe Spice. Cyrus and Pervin were excellent hosts, and the staff was friendly and professional. The food was superb, with vibrant presentations. The cafe's waterfront location and cozy decor added to the great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We were unsure as to what of the many dishes we would try. Especially as we are not local to the restaurant, returning will not be as often as we would like We decided on the taster menu to sample different flavours. We were not disappointed in any way.

We had an amazing meal at Café Spice Namasté on Friday evening. It was a special menu in celebration of Parsee New Year. There were five courses although most of them could have quite happily been a meal in themselves. Cyrus Todiwala, the chef-patron, described all the food to begin with and the flavours of each dish lived up to the descriptions. A particular highlight was the chicken thigh marinated in hot green masala, crumbed and egg-fried, with a delicious Russian salad to go with it. The staff, led by Cyrus's wife Pervin, were incredibly friendly and helpful, and it felt more like a meal served by good friends rather than a restaurant. We would thoroughly recommend Café Spice and it is certainly worth the journey for a visit.

Please do not change what was a superior quality, do not reduce the quantities, do not exagerate with the spicy taste. We really need the usual Chef to be back despite the bank holidays. Please: Samosa good but cut in two and served in a smaller portion, Chicken Tikka a bit dry and Beef Xacutti too spicy for Europeans. Fish was fresh although no taste and with the highest layer of very salted green sauce I have ever tasted. Rose Kulfi dessert cut in few small pieces. Gentle service as always but it is jot enaugh: we will be back when the wonder couple is back too!

Incredible food, incredible location and incredibly friendly and accommodating hosts. I can't count the number of times I've been back, the food is always incredible (saying this as a parsee). Cyrus and Pervin are always so friendly - they make you feel as if you were at home among family. I'd recommend the whole menu - our favourites were the beetroot and coconut samosa chaat and the lamb dhansaak.

Cyrus has always been a good chef. But last night he joined the ranks of great Indian Chefs. Cafe Spice Namasté is now on a par with Chutney Mary in London and The Indian Accent in Delhi. You won’t get chicken tikka masala but you will enjoy genuine Indian food based on Cyrus deep and varied knowledge of Indian cuisine. Sometimes even with a modern twist. And sometimes with a talk about what you are eating. He is a fascinating speaker and willing to share his secrets with those of us who aspire to knocking off his top spot. Some hopes! Whenever I think I am there he pulls something new out of the hat. Great raw materials rule and Cyrus supports rare breeds and small producers. Try his ice cream made specially for Cafe Spice. The view of the old Royal Docks is great at sunset. Mrs Todiwalla, Pervin leads the front of house with warmth, a smile and skill and a team of long term staff who are super friendly and recognise old friends and welcome new ones. However busy they are they seem to have time and a smile for everyone. There is even a Tamil in the open kitchen and he stops work for me to practice my basic Tamil. And prices are remarkably reasonable so go quickly before Cyrus gets the Michelin star he deserves and prices are forced up.

From start to finish the experience was memorable. Service was prompt without being overbearing, knowledge of staff was spot on. Food was amazing and plentiful. The owner came out , from the kitchen, to speak and sign a book, chatted for a good 20 minutes, down to earth and welcoming…….i would highly recommend.

Cafe Spice Namaste is a hidden gem and it shouldn't be because everyone needs to know about it. The food is so delicious and different to what you usually find in Indian restaurants, it's crafted with a real passion and that's obvious with every mouthful. The staff are knowledgeable and attentive and add to the experience. This place deserves every success so get down to Royal Albert Wharf soon to find out what I'm talking about.

Tricky to get to if one doesn’t follow the directions on ‘how to find us’ obediently. Warmth of welcome is heart warming. Mr and Mrs Todiwallah and staff are friendly and food is good. We chose Indian dishes not on the menu of our local Indian menus. So we had the Goan pork vindaloo and okra which were nicely accompanied by the caramel onion basmati rice. The mango and papaya salad though finely cut and nicely presented could have had a sharper dressing. Apple crumble samosa with ice cream was delightful. Bibineca a Goan pancake is an acquired texture but lovely coconut taste. Pistachio kulfi very fine texture and thinly sliced. I would have preferred it served chunkier and rolled in chopped pistachio nuts, less chance of melting before reaching the table. A spice trail indeed getting here but most memorable meal.

Do not judge cafe spice as your typical Indian restaurant. Although you may recognise some of the names of the dishes, don't be fooled. This is Indian food fine dining. A selection of perfectly spiced and blended taste sensations are available as sharing bowls or individual taste trips. The cost of the food is very affordable, complimented by some great value wines. Well worth the trip. We had a takeaway lunch and an evening meal. The hosts made us feel like family. Outstanding and we live in West Yorkshire where we literally have hundreds of Indian food outlets to choose from. They don't compare.

Based on the reviews here I had high hopes for the quality and taste of the food. However, it was very average and I really wouldn't bother again. On the plus side, the restaurant was one of the few on Brick Lane that didn't have someone outside hassling you to come inside. However, when the meal was over, the waiter was quite pushy in wanting us to leave a review of the restaurant, and promised us each a free drink if we did so.
