First visit to the stags for a long time. Food was lovely and friendly staff.

The review is on the price of a dash of Pepsi to go with a spirit £1.90 for a dash that is outrageous! I work in the hospitality industry myself and understand costings but I’m am actually shocked at this. The staff were polite and professional as always, the pub was lovely and clean as always, but when the person serving you just nods slowly when you question if that is correct price you can tell even they don’t agree.

The pub itself was very busy due to there being a kids disco prior, however, the pub was clean and staff were really efficient. We was a table of 9 and food was served relatively quickly and was to a high standard. Kayleigh served us and was fab, she was polite and attentive!

Enjoyed a really pleasant Friday evening with friends. Great food followed by a few drinks and a fun pub quiz. Welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff. Highly recommended, book a table before you go.

Brilliant birthday meal with great service, food and atmosphere. Sarah, Ryan and the team couldnt have been more helpful. We had burgers, curries and gammon, all cooked well and served within a short time of ordering. Played pool and darts after dinner, enjoyed a birthday cake and even ordered a couple of sausages for the dog. Highly recommended birthday venue, thank you :)

Cosy pub with nice atmosphere. The staff are lovely and polite and efficient. The meal however leaves a lot to be desired. I had the turkey roast dinner which arrived fairly quickly, I would compare it to school dinners - mass produced and tasteless, although to be fair the turkey was cooked perfectly and plentiful. The Yorkshire pudding however was inedible, couldn’t get a knife through it, the carrots undercooked, creamed potatoes sloppy and the ‘pig in blanket’ was unappealing. It’s fortunate we had vouchers as I wouldn’t have paid nearly £16 for this meal. I

Service with a smile from the moment myself and my partner entered the pub... Special shout out goes to the lovely young lady (I believe she is called Chloe) who battled her technological difficulties within the online booking system when checking people in. She had to write it all down the old fashioned way to ensure the level of standard was maintained... And super friendly too This is the first time I've been back since they revamped the menu and I can hand on heart say that I'll be back again

In one word, rubbish. Food was surprisingly expensive and even more surprisingly bland. Worthy of no merit.

We had a lovely family meal at the Stag’s Leap, all of the staff were so friendly, the kids enjoyed playing on the pool table and all the food was fantastic.

Absolute rubbish . Firstly, half a pint of foam on my beer. ‘Once you leave the bar’ you can’t get it topped up properly apparently. What I got was leftover dried food on a dried plate. Inedible, Congealed ‘red cabbage’. Three, tiny, hard, ‘roast potatoes’ from the bottom of the bag. Three wafer thin slices of Beef Burnt end. very small, and covered in gravy to hide the fact. And slices of carrot so small from the pointed end, not whole like on the table advertising leaflet, that I could see through them, yet were hard as bullets too ! A Classic end of the last serving, bottom of the hot hostess trolley on a hot plate. Or all the stuff left from the last sitting, bunged on a plate for a lonr diner, who they thought wouldn’t complain. No, I won’t be coming back and say avoid like the plague.

went to order and the staff was extremely rude by bringing us the wrong drink which they said was there fault and continued to laugh at my down syndrome friend which then caused her to feel insecure and intimidated no one should have to experience this EVER asked for shift lead got told no not happy about this at all if im correct the girls name was faith ordered chips and was very cold and felt like they had been sat for a while never been here before not happy and wont be returning!!!!!!

It took 2 hours for the food however The food sizes for the cost is day light robbery the eggs you could use as a rubber and the hunters chicken was dry and burnt the chips tasted charcoal the only good thing was the burger we shall not be coming back piss take for service

Well food was a joke spent a lot of money here and food came out cold and not what was on the menu Sunday roast beef cold mash warm veg could break your teeth it’s that under cooked stuffing well thought it was a piece of moldy cheese it certainly wernt round yorkies as flat as a witch’s tit and no roast potatoes sorry but me and the family will not be coming back here a joke And to top it off give me this as if they are going to except this

The meal was nice but did seem a bit Iceland frozen meal. We all eat our food and enjoyed the night used a Blue light card to get 20% off feel it would've been expensive if we didn't?

Welcoming arrival, seated promptly even with no booking. Food was really good and great value for money, didn’t take ages to come out. Overall great and will be back!

The service and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. I don't think I can really fault them. The price of the food is good for a chain that delivers filling pub grub and there is always a place for that. The food is not of high quality nor is it exceptionally well cooked. I come to te Stags leap a it is accessible for my elderly mother and she understands what she is going to get. The ability to offer her small portions is great... Whilst this seems like a negative comment in some ways - I think this pub has a great place in Rugeley and is the type of pub you can afford to eat in with out it breaking the bank... It is only minorly let down by the food.... the roast beef was tough and the roast potatoes were over powered by the herbs.. Teh gravy had little flavour. I have had soup there before and it was minute and tasteless

Had hunters chicken over cooked dry looked tastad as if cooked yesterday never again . Think chef needs microwave refresher course shame staff and place very nice . NEVER AGAIN

Met friends for a pre-booked three course Christmas meal on Tuesday night and we all thought the food was delicious and excellent value. Fabulous service and helpful, friendly staff. We meet up every couple of months as this pub is a half way point. Ryan, Sarah and Melissa always look after us which is why we keep returning. Thanks for a lovely evening.

The staff were not hospitable and we found them rude. We were not told about a wait when we ordered, but had to wait 45 minutes+ for our food! Food came out cold, and my daughter’s chicken nuggets were burnt to the point she couldn’t eat them as they were so dry!

Ordered fish and chips the batter on the fish was overcooked and inedible orded wine red Shiraz it was too warm and tasted awful I did complain to the young lady But she wasn't interested

Food was delicious and arrived to our table on time, staff gave my nieces colouring book and crayons to keep them busy and the staff were very friendly to us all whilst we were there.

The pub looks a lot more welcoming and the new decor is lovely the staff were very wellcoming Our food came out quickly and tasted very nice There was a five minute check to see if everything was ok and glasses and plates cleared when finished Overall a good experience and will defiantly be returning to sample more of the menu

Dinner was a bit of a mixed bag. The roast beef was actually very good as was the yorkshire pudding however the vegetables were horrible and my overpriced glass of wine had cork in it.

Nearly £7 for a beer in a chain pub. Dirty floors. Tables were sticky. Window ledges were sticky and dirty. No chalk for the £1.50 a game pool table.

The food was excellent and have never waited long for it. Staff couldn’t be any nicer and helpful, they really make your visit enjoyable. Will definitely keep going back

We visited as a wedding party and received a wonderful reception from the staff who couldn’t do enough for us. All the meals we ordered were cooked perfectly and we really couldn’t fault a thing. The portions are generous and well priced. We were able to decorate our table with wedding items and we all had a great time. We will certainly visit here again with the family. A big Thank You to all the staff who made this an enjoyable experience.

The service food and vibe is always the best at the stags leap. It's so easy, cheap and cheerful. With a taste card discount too you can't go wrong. The quiz is on a Friday which is when a quiz should be! Will is a brilliant quizmaster and the whole team make us completely welcome no matter how busy it gets. We love coming here. We couldn't ask for a better local.

Great food. Fab atmosphere. Had to wait for the food. But it's Sunday. The Sunday roast dinners were huge! Yorkshire puds were massive! And a great price too!

Unfortunately my order was wrong, no one came to check everything was OK like everywhere else we visit. When I mentioned food was incorrect the response I got was oh, sorry about that!

Friendly atmosphere was advised food would be 30mins wait, arrived within the time stated. Helpful staff was asked if food was OK and anything else they could get for us. Very pleasant visit.

I chose the Thai vegetable curry and it was so small, I came home and had to eat a sandwich!! I am not a big strapping chap, but a 5ft tall female.

Me and the family had a lovely meal this Friday, Jess the waitress was amazing, she came over to our table to clear our plates once we had finished our meal and took the time to talk to our youngest daughter Aurora. Even though she was extremely busy at the time with all the other customers she took the time to talk to us about our baby girl. It gose a long way when staff take the time out there way to interact and make genuine conversations with the customer. Most people just clear the table say hello and move on. 5* for Jess today. A real person talking to real people. Thank you for your service 🙏🙏🙏

We went to the Stag's Leap to celebrate my grandma's 100th birthday. I messaged them first to ask for a nice table and they went above and beyond decorating a table with a helium balloon and a gold tassel curtain on the window as well as buying her a card and a lovely framed poster of things that happened 100 years ago. We had a lovely meal, pudding and drinks. A massive thank you for a lovely afternoon and going above and beyond for a special event.

Really nice food and good value

came for an anniversary meal last night with elderly parents. The meals took 50 minutes to arrive after ordering and then only 3 meals came instead of 4!! The meals were bland and not good value, the staff seemed young and incapable. The pub was practically empty so there was no excuse for bad service. Its a pity as pub in good location but have no desire to return.

Visited this pub on the 13/1/24. Always been a lovely meal. But lastnight was different. Meals came out. Mine was cold so had to send it back. It came back but my husband had already eaten his. So I had to eat alone.

I ordered a well done steak. When it arrived not only was it not well done it was raw in one place. The staff offered a refund, but I asked for a replacement. Obviously the staff were taking the **** as when it came it was a shrivelled up crisp. The waitress who brought it threw it on the table in front of me saying "here's your replacement steak". Not the first time I have visted a Marstons pub where the chef doesn't know how to cook a steak. I won't be visiting a Marstons pub again or recommend them.

Very disappointed, ran out of carvery on a Sunday afternoon and staff never told us until we had ordered drinks and sat down. Food cold staff useless portions small very overpriced. Not be bothering visiting again!!!!!

I booked a table for 7 for a birthday and early Father’s Day from the moment we arrived the staff were friendly especially Gemma who served me,was asked if anyone had any allergies (my son is coeliac) and it was great to have a choice for him he went for the spicy burger meals came quickly were hot no complaints even my youngest ate all his food we will be dining again very soon

Alicia served us today and was more than happy to cater for a fussy eater. Our food was served to our table very quickly by Ryan and Kieron. The food was hot on arrival and the meat cooked perfectly and as requested. The staff are always friendly and helpful and we have never had a bad meal here. 👍
