After a recommendation from a family member, we decided to have a delivery. Very disappointed. Sausages were fine, shame about the chips. All four portions they sent were definitely refried. Very hard and unpleasant. Threw away more then we ate.

best fish n chips in this area. Large portions, great fries. Also extra wishes are no problem. Always great💪🏻

Great family take away with lovely quality food. They even deliver for free to the pub opposite in the light that the pub currently doesn't offer food. Great friendly quick service to.

Really let down....made an error while at work yesterday (in ashford) and ordered my children (11 and 14years) a fish and chip lunch as a treat while I was working in ashford that they would walk round the corner and collect. Unfortunately as new to area i ordered from the wrong restaurant and upon arriving to collect their food my children were told there was no order made. While at work when they contacted me I realised my error paid the correct restaurant so my kids could take their lunch home and right away (within 35min of order) contacted St Micheals and apologise for error and ask for a refund considering the circumstances. Not only are they refusing to refund they have been disgusting rude and made me feel awful All I wanted to do was treat my kids while I was working and it's become and unessicary total nightmare. Really really disappointed 😞

Very large portion, food was great.

I was really impressed with this place today. First of all, I really liked the app and found it really easy to work out prices and place an order for collection. I turned up at the beginning of the time-frame for collection and the order was freshly cooked and waiting. The quality and quantity was excellent. The fish was perfect and the chips were light and dry, not greasy. A nice touch was the piece of lemon and tub of tartare sauce in each box. Will be ordering again.

Chips are scrappy, fish was OK but batter was stodgy

We had read a few reviews on here of this fish and chip shop, so decided to detour over to it after a day out. And this is no exaggeration but in my opinion their fish and chips are probably the best I have ever had. We had to wait a little bit, but so worth it, the cod was freshly cooked, the batter was so light and crispy, the fish tasted so fresh and was perfectly cooked, and the chips were really well cooked too. The portions were very generous, with a pot of tartar sauce and a slice of lemon included. And I thought the price was more than fair considering the quality of the fish and chips. Good parking right outside off the busy road, and the option to eat in if you wanted to. So if you enjoy really good quality fish and chips cooked properly, and have a good appetite then I would highly recommend St Michael's Fish & Chips. We went in on a Monday, about 6pm and didnt have to wait very long at all to be served. Great job guys, and I wish you every success, you certainly deserve it.

Genuinely the best chip shop food we've had in a long time! Between us we had chicken, sausage, cod and obviously chips. Everything was fresh and the Chips and batter were crispy. I know it's changed hands recently and there were some not so great reviews at first. Maybe it was teething problems? Delivery service also very good.

Great fish and chips perfectly cooked. Staff are very friendly but professional and extremely efficient, excellent portions and a very comprehensive menu for both adults and kids. Highly recommended as this is the absolute best chippy in the area.

Well I've known this shop for over 25 years and always loved the food. It's changed hands and tonight definitely slipped in quality and standard. Chips where chewy, curry sauce was so thick need a scraper to spread it. Vegie burger was burnt on one side. Pineapple fritters hardly covered in batter either didn't rice cone them first or the batter is way too thin. Poor very poor!

Chips not particularly crispy and vinegar was put on when not asked. However the staff were friendly and the Scampi was delicious. Service was reasonably quick and reasonably priced for the area, overall, I'm impressed with the service delivered.

They used to supply fresh cut potatoes fried in the fryer.On this visit we had either frozen or ready done chips from their supplier.I can appreciate if they can’t get fresh potatoes at least tell us

Gone from a good fish and chip shop in Tenterden to almost the worst, just got cod and chips, fish covered in grease and chips cold, the governer wasn't there that might make a difference but it all went in the bin, very disappointing especially when you ask for non greasy food

They do great fish and chips. Lot's of choices. Pies, sausages, cheese and onion or pineapple fritters, burgers and much more. Lovely friendly family run business. Highly recommended

Amazing I've traveled all over the uk. Down to Cornwall and Devon, and around the south each costal line, and eaten in a Many different fish restaurants to get freshly caught fish and what you hope will be a nice dinner. yet this fish and chip shop is by far the best for a fish meal. The portion is amazing for the money. The fish is bright white and thick chunks. The batter is to die for. And the chips are fluffy yet nice and crispy on the outside. We live in ashford, and don't mind the 25 minute drive to come Get from Here. We use to enjoy the chefs fish dinners many years ago when he was in other fish bar down the road. And so glad hes back doing what clearly he's good at.

Our local chippie. Everything cooked to order. Friendly family run business. Never had a bad service or food. Tip..if you don't eat lots of chips, ask for a half portion, always plenty.

The best fish and chips in kent!

Had a fish and chips take away lunch with friends. The fish and chips were delicious. The portion sizes were very generous (I'm glad we only had medium sized, goodness knows how big large would have been). My wife is gluten free but she was able to have gluten free batter which was very good.

Our daughter lives in St Michael’s and we often have a treat with St Michael’s fish and Chips when we are there. Last week we drove from our home in Headcorn to pick up F/C as it is far superior to anything we have locally. The Huss was pure white and sweet and the plaice the same. There was no greasy residue in the paper the fish was wrapped in. The chips were fresh, golden and non greasy. Excellent

After being in lockdown so long I was so looking forward to some fish & chips but what a disappointment . The batter was so thick and hard that when I tried to cut the end it shot off my plate. , it looked as if the oil needed changing and the chips looked as if they had been cooked twice.

Always great food. Tip: always ask for a half portion of chips unless you want a ton of potatoes as their portions are very generous. At least me and the missus think so, one half portion does us both.

Spoilt ourselves this evening with freshly cooked haddock and chips. The fish was succulent and very fresh and the small portion of chips, just the right quantity for us, were cooked very well. Admittedly, sometimes better than others, but we've never had a bad experience, always a treat.

This is one of those great English chippies but you immediately notice that it is spit-spot clean, and the meals are quickly parcelled up with flourish. My impression was a proud dad and a family run business following a standard.

Lovely staff and looks super clean. Fish was very disappointing though, over cooked and dry wth a batter that was very dry and cruncy, definately over cooked. Such a shame aas I had reviewed the comments and thought this was the best choice. Maybe it was a bad night, most of my dinner went in the bin. The chips were great though. Such a shame as was really looking forard to the meal living up to the reviews.

We had fish and chips from this shop this week while staying nearby on holiday. It was the best fish shop fish and chips I have ever had. Tasty fish and delicious crispy chips. Not a soggy chip in sight.

A large number of young girls, directed by the owner, bakes and packes and sells. I guess this is what a real British fish-and-chipe-shop looks like. Friendly.

A colleague very kindly bought me fish & chips in Canterbury and it reminded me that if you want decent fish & chips you have to go to St Michael’s!

Excellent fish and chips to take away, the service is pleasant and fast: about 15 minutes time to order and cook the fish. The 'standard' is already very generous, whether for the fish or the portion of fries. Better to reserve the 'large' for those who are really hungry. I highly recommend, because it's really very good. Be careful though, there is no table for eating on site, it's takeaway.

When asked to cater for a lunchtime December meeting of the High Halden Young at Heart Club, St. Michael's Fish and Chip Shop came up trumps! The order for 69 diners was delivered to us during one of their busiest times of the day. Some three miles distance from the shop, the food was delivered to us so that it could be transferred to the waiting plates of our Members. Not only was it at just the right temperature, beautifully cooked and the portions satisfied the largest of appetites.Thank you to Jamie and his team for helping to make this a perfect special meal for us all.We could certainly recommend this service to other local clubs and societies - most accommodating.

Only popped in for a bag of chips. Not rude to me personally but the young lad whom I think is the son is a moody little so and so. Small businesses need repeat custom to thrive in a small town with other similar food outlets. Could take or leave here to be honest.

After a long night of travel from the States, and touring all day on arrival, we were ready for dinner. Did not realize this was take-away only, but ordered anyway and made use of dining room at B&B.; Excellent fish & chips -- best of our trip. Reasonable price, good portions. Still crisp on arrival at table. Maybe we hit a really good night, but it was outstanding!

This place tried to charge my husband £71.50 for one meal of 12 piece scampi and small chips .They must think its the ritz for them prices. Argued it and they stuck to there guns so ended up having cod instead. Dissapointing as i used to like this place.

Take it or leave it attitude from the staff, my strong advice would be to leave it! Greasy, soggy and just horrid.
