We went there for my birthday and it was our first time. The staff were absolutely wonderful and very attentive. I was given a special cocktail for my birthday, which was gorgeous. We ordered curry goat and Jerk Lamb. Both meals were served piping hot and were both tasty and authentic. We cannot wait to visit again.

I've eaten here a few times now and it's by far the best Jamaican food i've ever eaten, the staff are lovely and cater to your every need. The restaurant has a great family atmosphere, banging music and well the food speaks for itself! The cocktails are some of the best i've ever had and I couldn't recommend this place highly enough!

Tuvimos una reunión familiar comenzando con unos fabulosos cócteles de ron. Pedimos casi todo el menú entre el grupo. Las alitas, el curry de cabra, el cordero y los platos de pollo estaban llenos de sabor y todos diferentes. Tuve un plato de pescado, cocinado a la perfección, suculento con un buen frotamiento de especias que no dominó el pescado - servido en rodajas de verduras increíblemente sabrosas. El único inconveniente era que no teníamos espacio para la tarta de ron! El servicio fue eficiente y amable, defo volveremos.

Fabulosa comida y gran ambiente. Recomiendo encarecidamente el curry de cabra y el cordero jerk. Y en cuanto a los cócteles, cuidado que empacan un ponche 😉 . Buena noche.

First time trying this restaurant and only wish I had before, the best Jamaican food outside of Jamaica and gorgeous cocktails that packed a punch! Fab service and great vibes, we will be back!

My husband and I had an amazing experience of this place, the people there are so heart warming and welcoming and I don’t have enough words to explain how the food was yummy !! Definitely recommend for feeding your body and your soul 🤍🤍

I celebrated my birthday here in January. The food was on point , delicious, authentic soul food🔥 Everyone was catered for.. We were a big group of people, so we had the buffet menu option. Everyone was satisfied with the meal. 😁 Staff are very friendly & welcoming, especially Mama Lorna & her gorgeous son! Rum punch was lovely 💥 They made my birthday feel so special, by bringing out a candle lit cake (that my friend had brought in), to the reggae birthday tune by Busy Signal💗 Music & Vibez was nice! I feel truly & utterly BLESSED to have spent my birthday at St Mary's Kitchen. Thank You to all who made my birthday meal so special 🙏🏼 We'll be back again! Visited on a Saturday night with friends from out of town. This was our first visit and we were all impressed. Service was great, polite and knowledgeable staff, happy to answer questions about the menu. Food was amazing, we all had something different so quite a variety and it was all good with the Mac and cheese and jerk chicken bring a favourite. We had the rum cake for dessert and I’m glad I wasn’t driving, I’m sure I would have been over the limit with the amount of rum in the cake, so tasty!! We live in Bristol and eat Caribbean food a lot and this is over and above the best in the city. Our friends were previously Caribbean Croft fans but have been converted!! We were not rushed out, we were able to sit and chat over a cocktail without feeling pressured to leave the table, unlike other restaurants. Aaron and his mum, I’m guessing the owners and chefs, came and chatted with us and are such lovely people. Highly recommend this restaurant, we could not fault anything. Thank you for a great night.

About a month ago I visited with my brother to St marys kitchen he had read many of the reviews and decided we should give it a try. Met by a friendly guy about 7pm we were told to sit where we wanted there was only 2 people seated. We were given the menus and chose our drinks. We both went for the 2 meat and veg offer I had jerk chicken and goat curry my brother had jerk lamb and goat curry and rice and peas and vegetables. We waited a short while for the food which was piping hot. A good experience and very tasty and filling plateful. We also spoke with a nice lady who I think was the owner we couldn't manage a portion of Jamaican rum cake maybe next time we go. All in all a very positive review of a very nice family restaurant and friendly owners. Will be back in the new year to try something else off the menu. Many thanks

Food - absolutely delicious, authentic, right level of spice for me. We had jerk chicken, goat curry, Mac & cheese Jamaican style. Cocktail Jamaican Mull complimented food and as we don’t like sweet cocktails was perfect. And also we shared desert - Rum cake with custard - very rich and very nice. Amazing service, friendly staff, chef came out and chatted to us. Really enjoyed our dinner and it’s highly recommended.

Absolutely wonderful restaurant. Food and service absolutely faultless. We went with a group of 9 and our server recommended ordering a buffet of dishes to share which was a fantastic way to dishes on offer. Particularly enjoyed the Jerk Chicken and the Curried Goat, but everything we had was delicious! Will definitely be back next time we're in Bristol.

I had the absolute pleasure of dining at St Mary’s Kitchen last night, and it was hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had! It was my first time experiencing Jamaican cuisine, and I was completely blown away. The flavors were bold, authentic, and absolutely unforgettable. The Jerk Chicken was incredible—perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The garlic and spinach butternut squash was a game-changer and the portions were generous, and everything tasted so fresh. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. You can tell they really care about what they do. I’ll definitely be back soon, and I’m already recommending this place to everyone I know. If you’ve never tried Jamaican food before, this is the place to do it!

Positives.... Cocktails were nice, staff was lovely Food was awful.... Seasonless .... I wished for authenticity, I can't believe I'm actually saying this but Turtle Bay is better and I don't even like Turtle bay. Maybe it was a bad night ... But I and my party were unimpressed.... Seems they are catering more to perhaps to non ethnics ,reducing the perhaps generational quality.... Like everywhere else I suppose 🤷🏿‍♀️🤷🏿‍♀️

I visited Bristol for the first time today, to see the city and I wanted Jamaican food. I had already Googled potential restaurants and decided on St Mary's Kitchen. It didn't disappoint. The escovitch sea bass is tasty and well prepared. I felt comfortable with the feeling and vibe in the restaurant. The best thing, for me, was the care and time that Lorna spent talking with me. Mi feel like mi deh a yaad. It's a little bit of Jamaica in Bristol.

Wanted to try something new and i am very pleased that we have found this place. Lovely staff , great food ( real wholesome, just what you want at this time of the year) . My curry goat was quite literally falling apart ...so tender ! Chicken great too ! Would recommend 👌

Had my 30th birthday here this evening [12/10/94] that was a surprise arranged by my partner. Happy to say it was wonderful! The food, the service, everything was 10/10 throughout. They were especially helpful in organising and arranging with my partner before hand, and I can't thank the whole team enough for their work. Cannot recommend enough!

Casual. Amistoso. No quería irme. Grandes cócteles. Fantástica comida. Buena relación calidad-precio. Mi marido y yo tuvimos ackee n pescado salado con arroz n guisantes y un lado de plátano. Las porciones estaban bien equilibradas (no demasiado arroz, que he encontrado en otros restaurantes caribeños). Definitivamente voy a ir de nuevo y llevar amigos a experimentarlo también. Imo el mejor Caribe de la zona 😊

Best customer service and fresh food

We came here as a large group celebrating a birthday for one of my friends and it was just the most lovely restaurant, and loveliest of humans. They were very accommodating to us, even with asking for recommendations and my request for candles for a birthday cake, which they put and lit on a rum cake. They even put the coolest of happy birthdays song on by bush signal, which did make us want to dance on the tables (but we refrained!) Super accommodating, responsive and the food was faultless too! Will be returning 100% 💛🇯🇲

St Mary’s Kitchen is a personal favourite of mine and all my house mates. The staff are amazing, so friendly with great customer service. I couldn’t decide between the curry goat and jerk chicken, so they offered me a mixed meal between both and it did not disappoint! Food is amazing every time! Great portion sizes, the cake and custard really hit the spot for desert. Lovely atmosphere with a great dining experience. 10/10 definitely recommend!

Wonderful experience. It was my first time eating Jamaican food and it was a great introduction, we would definitely visit again! We had a few starters and, for our main meals, curry goat and jerk chicken. The portions were great and very affordable. Not only that, the service was brilliant. Very welcoming and helpful when it came to suggestions on the menu and drinks. The quality of the food was really good and you can tell the chef cares about every single meal she sends out. All in all, amazing experience and would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

With a wide variety of flavorful options fit for anybody to eat, St Mary’s Kitchen is a destination I can find myself visiting time and time again. The great food and lovely ambience with some good company makes for an exquisite dining experience.

Wow. What a fantastic night. We got there a quarter of an hour before the opening time , but we're asked whether we wanted to wait inside while they opened up. Very friendly people. Took advantage of the 241 mocktails and ordered. I had the sea bass , which was completely boneless and my friend had the saltfish and pork, Really tasty food. All though the evening Lorna and the servers were really approachable and asking people if they were enjoying the food. It felt at times as if we were part of the family. I would recommend this to anyone.

10/10 - Delicious food and super nice group running the show. Waaay better than Rice & Things. Will be back!

Thought we would try St Mary's as we were in Cheltenham Road, it wasn't a Planned visit, and it was one of those occasions where you come away thinking how nice was that, lovely friendly and polite staff, superb cocktails and food, with good attention to detail, thank you, we will revisit soon.

Everything was fresh, aromatic, and deeply flavourful. You know those ones when it tastes so good that you almost don’t believe it? Shoutout St Mary’s Kitchen🙏🏾 I’ll be there again for sure. Second time coming here, it's been superb on both occasions, so far I've tasted the ackee and saltfish, curry goat and pepper steak which are all delicious and easily the best you'll find in Bristol, the jerk lamb and chicken might just be the best you'll find anywhere, perfect balance of flavour and spice expertly cooked. The service has always been very friendly and welcoming and happy to answer any questions you have. Come and have a rum punch (2 for 1) and proper food, leave feeling a bit better about the world

Part of a 9-person party in the midweek who ordered a variety of food from the generous menu. The staff were incredibly friendly and always made you feel welcome with a bit of chat whenever they passed by. There was authentic music playing at a level that boosted the atmosphere without spoiling conversation. The food came out together and was perfectly piping hot. The Goat Curry gets my full recommendation being more tender than lamb and packed full of meat (just be aware it comes with bones, but they slide off easy enough). Portion sizes were excellent and filling, whilst being kept at a very reasonable price given the Bristol based location. A little gem that should not be ignored.

Went to St Mary's Kitchen for a birthday dinner with family who I hadn't seen for a few years, and what a fun night we had! The atmosphere was great, and the service perfect. Between us we had several different dishes, and each and everyone was tasty, nicely seasoned, delicious, and everyone was happy! Having lived and worked in Jamaica for several years myself, and with a wife of Jamaican parents, I can happily say that I would go back for another meal in an instant if I didn't live so far away! We had a lovely meal here. They were busy but made room for us without a fuss. The food was very tasty, and not too spicy. Had the goat curry and jerk chicken and plantains. Great rum too. The staff were really pleasant and helpful, and the music was chilled and not too loud. Book ahead if you don't want to be disappointed!

Had a fantastic jerk lamb dish with jerk chicken wings on the side. The wings are a very good size, not those stingy half a bite things you get in a pub. Everything tasted great and the staff were excellent.
