I visited Bristol for the first time today, to see the city and I wanted Jamaican food. I had already Googled potential restaurants and decided on St Mary's Kitchen. It didn't disappoint. The escovitch sea bass is tasty and well prepared. I felt comfortable with the feeling and vibe in the restaurant. The best thing, for me, was the care and time that Lorna spent talking with me. Mi feel like mi deh a yaad. It's a little bit of Jamaica in Bristol.

Wanted to try something new and i am very pleased that we have found this place. Lovely staff , great food ( real wholesome, just what you want at this time of the year) . My curry goat was quite literally falling apart ...so tender ! Chicken great too ! Would recommend 👌

Had my 30th birthday here this evening [12/10/94] that was a surprise arranged by my partner. Happy to say it was wonderful! The food, the service, everything was 10/10 throughout. They were especially helpful in organising and arranging with my partner before hand, and I can't thank the whole team enough for their work. Cannot recommend enough!

We came here as a large group celebrating a birthday for one of my friends and it was just the most lovely restaurant, and loveliest of humans. They were very accommodating to us, even with asking for recommendations and my request for candles for a birthday cake, which they put and lit on a rum cake. They even put the coolest of happy birthdays song on by bush signal, which did make us want to dance on the tables (but we refrained!) Super accommodating, responsive and the food was faultless too! Will be returning 100% 💛🇯🇲

St Mary’s Kitchen is a personal favourite of mine and all my house mates. The staff are amazing, so friendly with great customer service. I couldn’t decide between the curry goat and jerk chicken, so they offered me a mixed meal between both and it did not disappoint! Food is amazing every time! Great portion sizes, the cake and custard really hit the spot for desert. Lovely atmosphere with a great dining experience. 10/10 definitely recommend!

Wonderful experience. It was my first time eating Jamaican food and it was a great introduction, we would definitely visit again! We had a few starters and, for our main meals, curry goat and jerk chicken. The portions were great and very affordable. Not only that, the service was brilliant. Very welcoming and helpful when it came to suggestions on the menu and drinks. The quality of the food was really good and you can tell the chef cares about every single meal she sends out. All in all, amazing experience and would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

This restaurant is a hidden gem of Bristol for quality Jamaican cuisine. With a wide variety of flavorful options fit for anybody to eat, St Mary’s Kitchen is a destination I can find myself visiting time and time again. The great food and lovely ambience with some good company makes for an exquisite dining experience.

Wow. What a fantastic night. We got there a quarter of an hour before the opening time , but we're asked whether we wanted to wait inside while they opened up. Very friendly people. Took advantage of the 241 mocktails and ordered. I had the sea bass , which was completely boneless and my friend had the saltfish and pork, Really tasty food. All though the evening Lorna and the servers were really approachable and asking people if they were enjoying the food. It felt at times as if we were part of the family. I would recommend this to anyone.

10/10 - Delicious food and super nice group running the show. Waaay better than Rice & Things. Will be back!

Incredible food!!! Generous size portions, affordable prices and amazing staff & service. Will be back ASAP and already recommended it to my friends. Vegan and meat options so everyone is happy. And the best part is 241 cocktails always, and not watered down like big chains.

Thought we would try St Mary's as we were in Cheltenham Road, it wasn't a Planned visit, and it was one of those occasions where you come away thinking how nice was that, lovely friendly and polite staff, superb cocktails and food, with good attention to detail, thank you, we will revisit soon.

I am British Caribbean guy, new to Bristol, and keen to explore all the different options of Caribbean food that this city has to offer. Last night I landed on St Mary’s Kitchen and my oh my! Everything was fresh, aromatic, and deeply flavourful. You know those ones when it tastes so good that you almost don’t believe it? Shoutout St Mary’s Kitchen🙏🏾 I’ll be there again for sure. Second time coming here, it's been superb on both occasions, so far I've tasted the ackee and saltfish, curry goat and pepper steak which are all delicious and easily the best you'll find in Bristol, the jerk lamb and chicken might just be the best you'll find anywhere, perfect balance of flavour and spice expertly cooked. The service has always been very friendly and welcoming and happy to answer any questions you have. Come and have a rum punch (2 for 1) and proper food, leave feeling a bit better about the world

Part of a 9-person party in the midweek who ordered a variety of food from the generous menu. The staff were incredibly friendly and always made you feel welcome with a bit of chat whenever they passed by. There was authentic music playing at a level that boosted the atmosphere without spoiling conversation. The food came out together and was perfectly piping hot. The Goat Curry gets my full recommendation being more tender than lamb and packed full of meat (just be aware it comes with bones, but they slide off easy enough). Portion sizes were excellent and filling, whilst being kept at a very reasonable price given the Bristol based location. A little gem that should not be ignored.

Went to St Mary's Kitchen for a birthday dinner with family who I hadn't seen for a few years, and what a fun night we had! The atmosphere was great, and the service perfect. Between us we had several different dishes, and each and everyone was tasty, nicely seasoned, delicious, and everyone was happy! Having lived and worked in Jamaica for several years myself, and with a wife of Jamaican parents, I can happily say that I would go back for another meal in an instant if I didn't live so far away! Thanks guys - looking forward to next time already! CD~ :-)

We had a lovely meal here. They were busy but made room for us without a fuss. The food was very tasty, and not too spicy. Had the goat curry and jerk chicken and plantains. Great rum too. The staff were really pleasant and helpful, and the music was chilled and not too loud. Book ahead if you don't want to be disappointed!

Had a fantastic jerk lamb dish with jerk chicken wings on the side. The wings are a very good size, not those stingy half a bite things you get in a pub. Everything tasted great and the staff were excellent.

We came to Bristol on a visit to our daughter & she brought us here for an evening meal, we ate here Saturday night & she couldn't of chosen better, the food was above & beyond & we can't wait until we visit again to eat here, our waitress was superb too, (I had the curried boneless snapper, absolutely the best) thank you.

Great food, great cocktails, great vibe. I had the 2-meat option, so jerk lamb & jerk chicken with rice & peas - it was divine. Others in my party had the fried chicken & mac’n’cheese & were also very happy with their meals. The prices were sensible, as were the portion sizes. The rum cocktails also certainly hit the spot! All of the staff were friendly and attentive. I really can’t fault this place. I’m actually slightly gutted that I live a bit too far away for a regular takeout delivery…will just have to keep going back! Thanks St Mary’s Kitchen for a fab evening.

Excellent no frills restaurant serving genuine Caribbean dishes. Goat curry was great as was the French chicken dish. Very welcoming staff and a good soundtrack. Value for money and we’ll go again.

Amazing! We will definitely order from here again when visiting Bristol. The food was so tasty! I was also so impressed with the choice of vegan/vegetarian options on the menu which you can’t always get at most other restaurants. The prices were fair and the portions were just right. The woman delivery driver was lovely too. I would 100% recommend here!

Amazing food and amazing staff.

The food was delicious, had the Jerk ‘N’ Mac and the portion was perfect, you could tell it was made with love. The waitress was also fantastic (Ali) and provided a stellar experience.

My mother (who is here on holiday from Jamaica) & I went to St Mary's Kitchen, for the first time on Sunday 9th July 23' I chose St Mary's Kitchen via word of mouth & for the fact they had won a compitition, for The Best Caribbean Restaurant, in Bristol. St Mary's Kitchen did not disappoint on all levels; portions were generous, tasty & authentic; service was superb & the ambiance reminded me of our home cooking on a Sunday, with sweet aromas coming from the kitchen, tantalised my taste buds. Well worth the visit!!! We had the Mixed Meat Meal😋

I mean… it took over two hours to receive our food and they forgot the coleslaw 🙄 Wouldn’t order from again.

We popped in to get takeout and the guy who took the order was so nice and friendly. Food is genuinely some of the best I’ve had in a long time. goat curry was like caramel, fall off the bone tastiness. Definitely will be our go to place to eat because everything was 5 star! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I went with 13 friends last Friday. When we arrived we were made to feel really welcome. The owner/chef was really friendly and came out to talk to us, soon after our arrival, making sure we were being taken care of by her superb staff. The food was extremely tasty and plentiful and we could not find one criticism of the dishes we were served. After the meal the owner again came out to chat and to make sure we had enjoyed our time. I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anybody who wants to enjoy some Jamaican cuisine in friendly surroundings. Will definitely go back on any future trips to Bristol

Absolutely fantastic experience at this restaurant. The 2 for 1 cocktails are beautiful. (Definitely recommend the Pine Ginger Cocktail) The atmosphere has an element of Carribean nostalga with vibrant scenery and kind-spirited staff. Harriet (waitress) was so welcoming and accommodating to our dietary requirements, and the chef was just the kindest woman. As a Carribean vegan, The Vegan Ackee is one of the best dishes I've ever tasted in Bristol. Not overpowering and seasoned very well. Oh! and the Plantain was just amazing, nice and sweet. My family ordered the Jerk Chicken ' Mac with dumplings & festivals; Ackee & Saltfish with rice, Coleslaw and steamed vegetables.
