Well cooked haddock and chips. Tasted fresh and cooked in good oil. Great service from the owner as I ate inside. Well done !

Absolutely the worst Fish and Chips ever. Ordered Haddock and Chips and as soon as my friend got in the car with it, i knew it was going to be NOT GOOD. It smelt very strong. Got home, it was very strong, not edible and the chips were very greasy. Not sure i even want to give it to the fox!

A traditional chippie (so far I've tried their cod & chips, half chicken [huge] & burger 🍔) and would recommend. Delivery is quick too, via Just Eat.

I don’t understand so many negative reviews. Lived in St Margaret’s for sometime and this fish and chip bar is as good as any. Fish fried to order. Crispy batter. Good chips. Pleasant service. Haven’t tried their burgers but their fish and chips are excellent.

Very convenient and easy to get to. We had lunch before visiting a very I’ll relative in a care home near by. The people serving were so friendly and inviting but the best thing was the fish. It was as fresh and tasty as any I have had and on a par with straight from the sea at a beach eatery. It looks like an average fish and chip shop but it’s food is way above most offering and well worth a visit.

People here don’t know a good fish if it swam up out of there plug hole and slapped their faces. These guys do fish and chips under a tenner. Fish is cooked fresh and the chips are a crispy delight. Homemade tartar sauce would really tickle my trout from the stream but we can only hope. People who order burgers from the chippy shouldn’t be allowed to comment

Ordered from here online for delivery. I’d ordered haddock and scampi, and my girlfriend opted for just chips as there was no vegetarian options. When the food came, first thing I noticed was the fish and scampi were both dark brown, heavily over cooked. I was struggling to break the batter, but when I did, was greeted by a dry, leathery, chewy piece of fish, that just didn’t taste right at all. I had maybe 3/4 bites before throwing it away. The scampi was very similar- also over cooked and odd taste to it. Now at first I just thought that since it’s a Friday night, they could be busy, to give them the benefit of the doubt. However when I woke up the following morning, I had the worst case of food poisoning I’ve ever had. Extreme sickness, diarrhoea, cramps- lasting a total of 5 days. This led to me nearly being hospitalised as I couldn’t keep fluids down on the hottest day ever recorded in the U.K. - 40°c. If you want to remain healthy and alive, do not risk it.

Looks quite an attractive fish & chip shop. Inside is normal, friendly service. Nothing special though, pricing is ok, so nothing to complain

I've had some very bad experiences of this place and now for sure I am not going again. After eating their halloumi, one thing that was a fail safe from previous experience, I now have a terrible stomach pain like I've never experienced before. I'm sure I'm going to throw up!! Don't go there. I don't know how they cook things but it think it may be safer to eat from the bin!

Refried dry chips - we had a bad batch last time and put this down to a one off but exactly the same again to the point where the chips were barely edible. We just threw them away and we will just go elsewhere which is a shame as love to support local shops.

I was really disappointed the fish was really dry and barely edible. We ordered through Deliveroo and that may be when they just reheat pieces of fish rather than freshly cook. Wont buy again

Worst fish and chips along with an inedible pie, go some where else! The pie I could not cut as it was so old and dry. The chips were extremely dry also.

Sunday afternoon I decided to have fish and chips with my family. As I went in , been shocked by the rudeness of the lady at the counter, I was trying to be polite but I’ve never seen such a negative attitude from anyone. Very sad ..... Fish and chips were greasy . Really disappointing

They were always reliable, not too greasy, deep fillets of haddock, nicely well done, but not dry and were the best I'd had down South (coming from a Northerner and the birthplace of fish and chips!) but something has changed. The fish today was insipid, the batter very oily and the chips were anaemic. Please get your mojo back, St Margaret's Fish Bar and get that great rep that you had, back in your hands!

Unfortunately this is the nearest fish and chips to me, and I generally avoid it as I've had poor experiences in the past. But I was in a hurry to go to work for an evening shift so didn't have any choice . There is always a long wait as there is never anything ready, not even chips. After the usual 15 min wait, and watching the staff having an argument with a delivery man, I had to ask if I could please have my food as I was in a hurry. They boxed up my meal while they were still arguing and I took it home. Absolutely the worst fish I've ever had, I think it must have died of old age. So dry, horrible batter which just fell to pieces, chips not good either. I didn't have time to go back and complain which I've had to do in the past, so this will definitely be the last time I go there. Such a shame it is run so badly, as the service is as bad as the food.

Visited with friends late on a Friday, just as they were closing up. We were welcomed in by the proprietor himself and nothing was too much trouble. He turned the Friers back on and cooked fresh fish and chips to order, and allowed us to eat in. Amazing quality food, especially the plaice eaten in the 5star rated place!

Good chippie, pretty consistent! Fish is good and large! Chips are proper chips too which seems hard to find these days!!!

Just popped in to grab a portion of chips to have for lunch along with a pie from the butchers next door and the chips taste like they are from yesterday, lukewarm with a texture thats comparable to soggy cardboard. It's a real shame as this place could light up fish & chip meals if they made the effort.

This place serves proper fish and chips. The food always tastes good and the pricing is reasonable. They have a wide and varied menu, as well as providing the classics, they also now do a beer batter which can be pre-ordered and looks delicious. There are quite a few tables if you wanted to sit in, or to sit and wait at while your food is being cooked.

This is our local and normally excellent. We ordered takeaway through deliveroo and were extremely disappointed. The chips were warm-ups, batter overdone, fish did not taste fresh and the burger bun was burnt. I paid £34 and would still be disappointed if I had only paid half this amount

The chips are lovely and hot and have a great flavour. The chip drier is a lovely friendly guy who knows his business and fries a beautiful crispy haddock. Beer batter is also available. Dining in tables. All good.

The service is always good and fish is fresh with a good selection and portions. The chips are first class. Great stop off it easy meal for all occasions. You can even sit in a tabled area and enjoy you meal.

Despite being a regular here we were given a disgustingly over cooked, over dry fish that had clearly been hanging around in the hot box for an hour or so. I threw it away. It was dark brown and probably full of acrylamides. You cannot serve this kind of unhealthy trash to people and get away with it. The female server knew better and served it anyway with tough chips. Shame on you for letting the chip shop down. Very disappointed indeed. You should try harder and you might get some business.

Chips are good but there is not a good selection of food. No veggie burgers etc. Can take a while to get your order. Staff are friendly. They need kids menus like most other chip shops. Food is really tasty.

Normally go there in the evening, where chips are not always freshest, however still good so I would give 4 stars, but during a week of holiday went at lunch time being the only person. The chips were amazing, freshly fired, wonderfully tasteful, fish was superb too. 5 star. For not much more than a maccies or subway this is a cut above.

La comida era un enorme desastre y la señora chino que era muy grosero, sin respeto alguno. Esa señora tiene que aprender modales y cómo comunicarse con los clientes y no grita en ellos. Me emocionó con su desagradable comportamiento y actitud y así como su servicio. Yo personalmente no recomendaría este lugar a cualquiera.

Awful customer service, upon arrival the bar was empty, we placed our order and proceeded to sit down, we spotted a table which one of the staff had left some packaging on, we politely asked if we could sit down at that table as it was located near the window and the staff member rushed towards me screaming waving her hand in the other direction "SIT THERE SIT THERE". She then stamped back to behind the counter complaining loudly about our innocent request. Another staff member apologised for her behaviour but it soured the mood. They have zero customer service training, I cannot recommend this place. Avoid unless you want to be treated like a criminal and then mocked for being polite.

No puedo transmitir lo suficiente cómo un pobre servicio al cliente es en este restaurante. El propietario de este establecimiento encantador necesita revisar de esta mujer china y costumbres etiquettes o establecerse para ver el negocio funcionando en cenizas. Mi marido y yo hicimos una simple petición de cambiar nuestra mesa y ella corrió a nosotros como una mujer loca gritando, no podemos fijamente sentarse en la mesa pidió ya que era su estación de trabajo. Estábamos conmocionados y consternados, que a lo que me ocurrió y junto a ver su gestión su colega haciendo gestos de cómo ella nos negaron desde estar. Me parece extremadamente antipático hacia nuestra petición simple. Ella es una perfecta broody nula individuales de alma o la compasión. Todo lo que estaba haciendo es armando de cartón fuerte, pero llevar la reacción parecía ella es el ADN de muestras. Mi entusiasmo por comer en el restaurante descendía allí y que no quieres pagar por comer y ser tratados como urbanitas. NO DISCULPAS, no parecía apropiado para su respuesta trasgresión. En resumen, este lugar es un agujero. Aléjate de la mujer sueltos.

Me encanta estas patatas fritas. Pescado y patatas con guisantes blandos con una gran ración de sal y vinagre (creo que he regado el vinagre, así que no es tan buena, por favor hacerlo!). Servicio rápido, la comida bien cocinada. Es normal para nosotros!

We come here almost every Friday. The cod and chips is great, really good - portion sizes are fine, we can't always finish it. The attitude problem seems to stem from the older Asian man who seems to own it who is so grumpy and rules the staff which appears to make them all jumpy. Although the oriental lady could probably smile a bit more. We keep coming back because we're not there for the ambience, we're there because the slightly expensive fish and chips are very good. If another place as good opened up next door and they were even slightly friendly I would go there instead. Perhaps he feels us locals have no other option so we have to come back but hey, it's only a grumpy face - it's actually quite funny!

This place does awesome fish and chips. Good batter, tasty chips. What's not to love. The taste is the main thing with fish and chips, and these are good.

Popped in as we are locals and they have all the hospitality of a rag. Very unfriendly, out of the lunchtime specials trying to upsell us to a more expensive meal. In the end we opted for chips open and as it was raainy and won't outside we headed towards the table. We were quickly stopped and told that if we wanted to eat in we had to pay more even though the place was empty and we were using takeaway forks and wrappers anyway. So we left to go outside as I refused to pay after being spoken to and treated so rudely. Chips were plasticky so they went in the next bin we saw. Do yourself a favour and avoid atleast until the people working there learn to smile. The man and elder lady we're incredibly grumpy, slow and possesed a terrible attitude.

Heh, it's a fish and chip shop. You don't go for the ambiance or chit chat do you!?I've had a takeaway from here a couple of times and can't complain at all.it's not the cheapest fish and chips in the world but it's not exactly expensive!I'll keep going back anyway!

Meagre portions, overpriced and not great quality. Service was poor and seemed as though they only wanted your money rather than providing a warm, welcoming service. Don't go here. Avoid.

Fresh cooked fish n chips Nr railway station costs more if you eat inside though think its a bit pricey but portions were very good

This is a takeaway fish and chip shop, but even on a Friday night they insist on keeping you waiting as they never seem to cook enough. The staff are not friendly and seem to have the attitude they are doing you a favour. The portions are on the small side and they charge more than most local fish takeaways . I would only use them as a last resort.

I live nearby so have got takeaway from here a few times. I had a regular cod and had to ask the girl who served me if it was regular as it was so small (child's portion) The portions are normally tiny unless you pay for a large fish (which is regular in any reasonable persons mind). 4.75 for regular. 5.70 I believe for large. Expensive chipper. Very miserly. Fish was ok， batter not great. Burgers disgusting， taste like horse. Will never visit again as I don't like being robbed.

These fish & chips are reasonable, nothing special, and the price is also standard for a fish & chip shop in Richmond. The service however is consistently horrendous. At first the benefit of the doubt was given but after going back on several occasions it is apparent that this is their modus operandi. It is as if you are doing them a hardship..!

Always have really good fish and chips here. Slightly more expensive but worth it. They cook your order from fresh so be prepared to wait. You can also eat in.Actually on our way there now!

There's a shortage of good fish and chips in and around Twickenham and St Margaret's. This is one of the better ones and to be honest you could do worse. Nice batter on the fish but chips were a little anaemic for my liking, I'm sure others will rate them a little bit more.

Been to many fish and chips shops, even on the coast. The chip shop in st margarets is the best place i have ever been too. Its hard to resist!!

Went to get some chips for lunch from what I was told was a fine establishment fish and chip shop ordered some chips sat down to eat , and was told because i ordered from the takeaway menu could not eat on the premises , this was not made clear when I made my order , then had to eat my chips outisde in the cold while the owner watch on . So I want be going back and will be warning every one

A great chippy - all fish cooked fresh to order and generous portions of chips. Sadly that means there's always a queue - but it's worth waiting for.

Average fish and chip shop, good position close to the local railway station, open quite late in the evening and weekends. Staff could do with learning how to smile! Mind you I probably wouldn't smile either if I had to stand up all day cooking over a hot fish fryer! Reasonable fare at average prices. Does both take away and eat in.

Great fish - chunky and not watery, cooked beautifully, delicious chips and good value. This place is one of the best fish and chip shops I have been to (and I have been to MANY)!

A very good chippy this one, nice sized portions, batter nice and crispy and all very tasty. Curry sauce is also very nice. Can eat in as well if you want. Only downside is the girl behind the counter is a bit stroppy!

The batter is perfectly made and this is the best fish and chip shop for miles! Good portion sizes and always freshly cooked!

Had absolutely perfect time there, lots of beers to choose, very nice food and service. Atmosphere was amazing, we had table next to the firework, just perfect!!! Thank you for nice time.
