I visited the Scott’s location in Richmond and, unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience — especially in contrast to the excellent service and atmosphere I’ve enjoyed at the Mayfair location. The hostess at the entrance was noticeably unfriendly, with a cold and unpleasant expression. She hung my coat awkwardly outside the wardrobe instead of placing it inside. When I pointed it out, she responded in a snobbish tone, saying that it was “normal.” The waiter was oddly arrogant, which only added to the discomfort. Sadly, the food was underwhelming — lacking both taste and refinement. What truly surprised me was the state of the interior: chandeliers and paintings covered in dust and cobwebs, some of which were literally hanging above the dining tables. That’s simply unacceptable in any restaurant, let alone one with Scott’s reputation. Overall, Richmond was a complete letdown. Do not recommend.

Not particularly impressed with the food—only the raw tuna and halibut were truly tasty, the rest was just okay. Be prepared that after 1.5 hours at the restaurant, the waiter might tell you that you have to free up the table in 30 minutes—even though we booked in advance and spent around £600. Very unpleasant and insulting. If we ever come back, it’ll only be for a drink.

We’ve been regulars at Scott’s, both in London and Richmond, and have always had great experiences — which makes this visit all the more disappointing. The starters and my lobster were absolutely lovely, but unfortunately, my partner’s rib eye steak was a real letdown. It was full of gristle, very fatty, and honestly inedible — clearly a very poor quality cut of meat. We raised our concerns with the waitress, who said she would inform the chef, but that was the last we heard. No one came back to us to discuss it, and the steak remained on the bill, which was disappointing given the circumstances. This was the first time we’ve had a bad meal at Scott’s, and it really stood out, especially given the usual high standards. We hope it was just a one-off, but it certainly took the shine off what should have been another enjoyable evening.

I live just south of London Bridge and my wife and I had planned an entire day in Kingston / Richmond, and planned to have dinner at Scott's, with a reservation for 6:30pm. This morning, I had an urgent work escalation happen that meant my wife and I had to cancel our whole day trip. I called Scott's as soon as I found out (9:30am) to ask if we could cancel or move to another day. The woman I spoke to said that because I was cancelling "at the last minute" they would need to proceed with the cancellation charge (£25 / person). I do understand that they have a 24 hour cancellation policy, but I don't understand how 9:30am for a 6:30pm booking is "at the last minute." My whole day is already ruined and full with work, but I still tried my best to give them as much notice as possible and there was absolutely no flexibility. I guess we should have just provided no notice and been a no-show as the result would have been the same for us but worse for them? Seriously bad impression to give a first-time customer. We will not be dining at Scott's when we eventually do make it to Richmond for one of what will be many future trips.

Took my family here for Mother’s Day. The fact that I had to find someone to check us in was a bad sign. Nobody at the front desk and a queue of people waiting. The service was super slow. It seemed like forever between starters and main course to arrive. A waiter finally arrived with my Dover Sole to show me before boning it. I didn’t see it again for 25 minutes when the waiter returned with the rest of the food. By this time it was cold as it has just been sitting somewhere. None of our sides arrived for another 10 minutes and one didn’t arrive at all. My wife’s Skate wing was totally undercooked and needed to be sent back. To end it all my wife’s mint tea never arrived. I politely complained and asked for the service charge to be taken off the bill, which to be fair they did without questioning. Overall a very disappointing experience.

The birthday celebrations got off on the wrong foot from the start and didn’t get better from there. We arrived for our 1715 and the table wasn’t ready. Not the end of the world, these things happen. Once the table was ready it was very obvious it wasn’t suitable for 6 adults. The message eventually got the right level of management and an hour later we moved to a more suitable table. This took some time to speak to the right person in charge as the junior waiters tried as best as possible to say that was the only table available. When I mean unsuitable three people were crammed on one side like a fast food chain not a high end luxury restaurant. This was not a walk in booking but a planned family celebration. One place setting was between two tables that had different heights, more appropriate to a kids birthday party!! To be fair to the chefs the food was delicious and I feel sorry for them as the whole experience is let down by the front of house team. Taking food orders before drinks orders, being inattentive, and abrupt. Much more staff trading required, a simple fix if management highlighted, acknowledged and did something about it. It was sloppy service not high end. To top off the whole night and the cherry on top off what can only be described as a calamity of errors was they tried to charge £12 per person (totalling £72) to eat one’s own cake!! I will be searching for other Resturant options in the future and take my custom there.

Me and my partner went to the Restaurant for a nice weekend meal. The food and the atmosphere were nice, but we had bad experiences with the security guards outside the restaurant on a Saturday night. We left the restaurant after the meal, but shortly returned cause my partner needs to use the washroom quickly. The security guard outside refused to let us in even when we politely asked. We even offered to spend money again buying a drink inside. He was beyond rude to us, even another customer outside asked him to let us in again. He is the young male security guard on Saturday evening. This is just rude, and we probably won’t return again.

A really disappointing exerience! We had booked a table for our sons 23rd birthday and were greeted nicely by the gentleman on the door and the lady on reception. After that the whole experience went downhill. We were showed to our table and given menus and then just left for a long time without anyone coming to take a drinks order. We were never told what the fish of the day was and all of the staff who served us seemed distinctly disinterested. The food was average to say the least and my husbands spiced crab had no taste whatsoever. My son had the mixed oysters and the last time we came the waiter explained what each of them were. This was not the case on this visit. The mains were ok, but nothing special and we ordered some more drinks which never came. When I queried it with the waiter when we asked for the bill he said he would find out what had happened but never came back to us. We had been given a £250 gift card from my in-laws which we used to pay and were told that the gift card can only be redeemed on one visit and that we hadn’t spent the full amount. We agreed to still use the gift card as we did not wish to return and it wasn’t a big difference but we were never given a bill so didn’t get to see what the total actually came to or whether we had been charged for the non-existent drinks. For an establishment that specialises in offering a high end service they certainly did not deliver on this occasion. The staff spent all their time ‘busying’ themselves with setting tables in a relatively empty restaurant rather than actually providing the service we would expect from this restaurant. It was an extremely disappointing experience and not what we had hoped for to celebrate a special occasion. I emailed Scotts twice before posting this review to give them a right to reply but they didn't bother which just about sums up our whole experience of them. Overpriced, poor service, average food and disinterested staff.

The bartender upstairs, I think his name is Atrem, was so helpful with wine and then cocktail suggestions at the Bar and Sergei was helpful when ordering our food considering my and my best friend’s food allergies. Rib eye returned being overcooked. Staff seemed to care less. Had to enquire what happened to my replacement steak which had not even turned up 30mins after the rest of our party had finished their main courses. Got the price of the streak ( which I never eat) and a free pud. Really piss poor evening finished off by having to return a beer for arriving warm.

Went for the first time on a Wednesday night during live jazz. The music was lovely but the noise level combined with diners was a bit too much, to the point where it was challenging to even hear our waiter. The Jersey oysters had barely any meat. The chicken breast was tiny for the price and I wouldn't call it a "main dish" at all. Overall, it's pretty but the tables at the banquet seat are way too close to one another to feel intimate and high class. You can barely squeeze past the other table to sit down comfortably. The waiters all looked very tense, no smiles, just a bit too formal and cold for my taste.

The portions are very small given the price and the sides were overpriced and in one case inedible (Spinach). The restaurant was empty for a Sunday and there was a lack of atmosphere generally. The desert was something you would get in any restaurant and not worth the money at all, all 4 guest left most of it in plate. The waiters were overly talkative and nosy and didn't get the hint that we wanted to be left alone. Also no privacy in the restaurant with a lack of little touches like flowers etc you might expect. Very expensive overall. You can get much better value elsewhere.

This was such a lovely evening at Scott's, Richmond. We went on a Wednesday to enjoy the live jazz and have a bite to eat. We had the shrimps, risotto and scallops for a starter. The risotto and scallops were delicious but the shrimps paled in comparison. For the main, we split a lobster and have a side of artichoke. The lobster was delicious, however, the artichoke was deep fried beyond recognition. The star of the whole meal was the absolutely divine gluten free rolls that were served at the start. The whole meal was gluten free. Sadly, there was only a fruit plate available for dessert, which was a major let down. Overall, it was an enjoyable evening.

Went with my partner pre-valentines and ordered the lunch set 3 course menue. I just loved the atmosphere and interior so much in this restaurant. It was cozy, warm and special like in another time. The staff was very friendly from the moment you arrive in the restaurant until you leave. About the food, I’ve had mixed feelings. Although everything was delicious and beautifully presented, I was expecting a little more. The burrata was okay, my boyfriends salmon pastrami was amazing. We both ordered the fish which was tasty but I missed something to it. The mint choc dessert was heaven a 12 out of 10! Would go again but order myself a more special main:)

My partner and I enjoyed a 3 course set meal (pre-Valentines late lunch / early dinner). Our favourite was Citrus cured salmon pastrami to start followed by Fillet of pollock (4/5 ⭐️) The fish dish was beautifully presented, but unfortunately, it didn't quite have the burst of flavor we were hoping for. We finished off with Brie de Meaux and Mint chocolate delice. The brie on the toast could have been a bit more generous, and the chutney was a little overpowering. The mint chocolate delice was heavenly! Bursting with flavor and wonderfully rich with thick chocolate – it was the perfect dessert. The side of mashed potatoes was absolutely divine. It was incredibly creamy and rich, the perfect texture, and paired beautifully with the fish. Hospitality and service 5 ⭐️ thank you Scott’s Richmond team for making us feel welcome and we had a great dinner date.

Last night some friends and I dined at Scott's. I've been several times before and have always enjoyed the experience. This time the evening started off brilliantly. The starter and main courses were excellent, and the sommelier made a fantastic wine recommendation. We were enjoying a wonderful meal and great conversation, completely unaware that the restaurant had other plans for us. Just as we were finishing our main course, and still enjoying our wine, our table's host appeared, not to ask if we would like to see the dessert menu, but to inform us that our two-hour time limit was up. Not only were we denied the opportunity to order any desert, but we also had to rush to finish the rest of our fine wine before being shown the door. So much for a relaxed, refined dining experience. I cannot recall if this two-hour limit was mentioned at the time of booking. However, I can say with absolute certainty that it was not mentioned upon arrival nor at any point during the meal. Two different hosts even admitted they knew the restaurant would be very busy that evening. Given that, a simple professional courtesy -- reminding us that we had a strict time limit -- would have gone a long way. Instead, we were blindsided, rushed out, and left feeling like an inconvenience rather than valued guests. For any top-tiered restaurant I believe it is reasonable to assume that the management have trained all their staff in hospitable professional courtesy. In this case it simply took ill-equipped hosts to destroy all the hard work put in by the rest of restaurant team. Scott's management - you need to do better! What started as an exceptional dining experience ended in utter disappointment. Hospitality is just as important as the food, and on that front, Scott's failed miserably.

I went to Scott’s on Thursday 23rd for lunch semi business semi family. The restaurant is beautiful and the waiting staff were friendly and helpful. I had oysters and the others had artichoke that was lovely I had their special of sea bass as did one other. We had an enjoyable lunch, however when we left I hadn’t got passed the Ivy when I was violently sick ,that not only embarrassing but I need a clean up. My daughter went back to the restaurant to let them know I had been ill and it could have only been the oysters. And that they should take them off the menu but she was met with a very off hand attitude. She wasn’t trying to get a reduction. She gave her email that they said they would contact her Up until now she hasn’t heard anything that I think is disrespectful and certainly won’t be going back !

Ill Afterwards. A group of us visited and had a lovely time and left feeling very happy, all in all it was very pleasant until 3 of us became ill later in the day. We are from different households and we hadn't seen each other before visiting Scott's on that day. The 3 of us only had one thing in common which was eating the risotto. We reported the issue to the restaurant who passed it to a 3rd party compnay. They refuse to acknowledge the issue and pointed the finger at us. As i mentioned , one thing in common, the risotto. Very poor response from the restaurant. Won't be going back again and certain won't recommend visiting.

For the main course, I had the lobster, scallops, king prawns, and spicy crab, all of which were cooked to perfection. We were ready to leave. We booked our visit a few weeks in prior as we wanted to spend family New Year’s Eve there. Upon arrival we were sent to the top floor being said your table is being prepared for you. 30 minutes of waiting until we were offered the table on the top floor, which was already empty when we arrived. When my partner insisted on getting the table in the main room we have been told that it’s overbooked and they don’t have available tables. Anyway, after couple of minutes we got the table in the main dining room , where we ate delicious meals. And yet I will think twice going back there again.

Went to Scott’s with a friend of mine in Richmond before she left for LA, and I’m very disappointed by the food considering it was on the higher end of pricing. We ended up getting half a lobster, scallops, monkfish i believe, and I ended up getting the masala after still being hungry. The lobster had no flavour which was disappointing. The masala was quite sweet, which was odd, and my friend’s fish dish had an odd indescribable flavour. The scallops were good though. Overall, I’m very disappointed by the food at Scott’s, however, the service and the interiors of the restaurant was amazing.

Went to Scott’s for a the Sunday roast, it was very busy due to it being the Sunday before Christmas, I found the carrots and cabbage were hard and had a very fatty cut of meat, the prawn tempura had a very airy light batter. It was very underwhelming for the price (I’ve had better roasts in chain pubs) Although the decor and atmosphere was very grand and food service was quick,I would personally rather go here for the drinks and jazz evening.

I am disappointed with my recent experience with your customer service. When I called to cancel my reservation that we have moved, the second I tried to move the customer service really rude at the phone call and told cancellations within 24 hours would be free of charge. However, despite notifying your team over 24 hours in advance, I am now being told I will be charged. This has been frustrating and unclear. I kindly request clarification on your cancellation policy and hope this matter can be resolved fairly we should not get charged on this when the service is not valuable and unacceptable for being rude to us!

We went here on November 19th for lunch to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary. The service was excellent, and we were made to feel welcome, and were attended to perfectly. The food was divine. The Oysters were superb as was the champagne to accompany. At that point we joked with our waiter that we could sit there all afternoon just eating Oysters and having more champagne. However, we moved on, of course. A cocktail each took us onto our starters of Devilled Crab and scallops, again superb. Mains was a perfectly filleted Dover Sole for my wife and grilled cod for myself, with sides of potato and spinach. A bottle of Bolney Estate Pinot Gris was a great accompaniment. Desserts of Brownies with ice Cream and Paris Best with Pistachio Ice cream and a tawny port to finish made for a most enjoyable afternoon.

Excellent fish and chip shop, lots of variety, excellent atmosphere, excellent food. We paid £273 for lobster plus . Nice walk by the Thames afterwards. Parking around the corner in Friars Place for a tenner...if you can get in it. Richmond is a lovely place, with a wide variety of historic and modern architecture, and if you have had too much of the gorgeous food, there are plenty of hungry bird and fish who will appreciate the expensive scraps. Being on the pension fine dining is not something I would do too often.

Although the food was lovely, I can only describe the place as unnecessary over priced and have never been anywhere with such a mark up. The service and staff were good but £369 for 3 courses plus a bottle of cheap red wine and 4 glasses of champagne is extortionate. We enjoyed our experience but at that price I would expect the food and dining experience to be outstanding and it was mediocre at best. We would never consider going back as it was far too expensive and not worth the price. As an example; a bottle of Nytimber was £108 (+13.5% service charge, making it approximately £122) which is usually anywhere between £40-£75 per bottle anywhere else. Don’t waste your money, it’s nothing special.

A great dining experience. Really enjoyed the bread and butter. Broccoli was fantastically moreish. Chips were crispy. Beetroot salad starter was good, Moreso the grilled mackerel. Mains of Pollock was good but a smaller portion, the trout was good. The custard dessert was a little lacklustre. Service was good. The interiors are very plush and luxurious. The views of the Thames are sensational. Pricey but worth it. They have private dining and a magical bar upstairs.

Bridge and Tunnel, redefined. Scott's Richmond is, we're told, an off-shoot of the original (estimable) Scott's in Mayfair. Except it isn't really, although it technically has the same owner, the flamboyant "restauranter" Richard Caring. It's a theme park Scott's for the 'burbs, the bridge and tunnel brigade and it flaunts it - a dumbed down version, no sense of occasion. Soulless doesn't begin to describe it. The decor is so garish (cf. Mayfair) it makes its' owner look positively under-stated (quite the achievement ). Service is, varyingly, absent, supercilious and too "matey" (another achievement) treating the punters ( and you are very much a "punter") with disdain, as if the staff can't quite believe anyone would actually spend money here. The food? Don't go there. Tasteless crab and skate reminiscent of a Findus boil-in-the-bag job from the 1970s ( yet another achievement). Eat before you go and stick to the drinks, you'll need one.

Every part of the venue from the moment you walk in to the dining hall is stunning. The food was lovely particularly the platter and cheesecake dessert. The only downside was service which is really poor considering the high service charge. Save for the manager (who served more tables than the rest of the staff combined) the staff were really inattentive and it was an effort trying to get their attention. This was despite it being a quiet Thursday afternoon with very few tables.

The outdoor terrace of this fish restaurant on the Thames is an under-regarded delight, as is the food. The spinach we had one sunny lunchtime still had grit in it, but Nuno, a superb maitre'd, ensured we were not charged for the item. 4.5 My mother-in-law was visiting with her sister so we wanted somewhere special for lunch. Scott’s certainly fits the bill as it’s a beautiful room with wonderful views over the river. The service was excellent, efficient and friendly. Overall the food was pretty good, spiced baked crab and spiced salmon tartare were both well seasoned with a good balance of flavours. The prawns for the cocktail were good quality but as they come straight off the ice they are very cold and so are a bit lacking in flavour. The beurre noisette on the Dover sole was disappointing as it had not been cooked to the nutty stage and was therefore just a butter sauce, the sauce on the skate special was also a bit bland. Deserts went down well with the Paris-Brest and the honeycomb ice-cream being particular highlights. Yes it’s expensive but our visitors loved it and so it was money well spent and brightened a very wet day.

Beautiful restaurant that came highly recommended. Agree with the beauty of the place, but was sadly disappointed with the rest. It literally took us (a table of 3) one hour and twenty minutes to receive our food. Our server was the only one professional enough to apologize for the delay. Not one of the three “managers” we saw in the dining room addressed us nor did they offer us anything for our inconvenience. The two stars I’ve rated this restaurant is generous, and save for the server, a one star would be awarded.

The minute the door is opened to welcome you, you will not be disappointed. I have been time and time seated in the terrace with the view of the river. Seated at the delighted tables on the ground floor dining with exquisite views of the Murano chandeliers and artworks to sitting at the bar admiring the handling of the seafood platters. Every seating experience had its charm. The staff are impeccably dressed and mannered with A star service and attentiveness. The food is easy to navigate with specialities in seafood. A lovely way to embrace the past dining and be swept away from the cities bustle.

Service is good plus good riverview as well if you can reserve riverside tables. I am a bit disappointed with the Fish and Shellfish soup as there is no fish nor shellfish pieces inside my bowl of soup which costs over £10.00. However, taste and presentation of the soup is very nice. Hopefully, the chef can consider adding pieces of fish and shellfish into the soup to match the name of the soup. Also, the male toilet is a bit small. You have to squeeze yourself in if one tries to get out and the other person wishes to enter. As the external entrance door to the male toilet has no frosted glass, I nearly pushed the door onto the person who was standing on the other side of door. If possible, please consider to install sign or movement sensing light so that person outside the toilet can take caution that there is person at the other side of the door.

Tried the California salmon and it had a mix of edamame, sweetcorn, cucumbers, avocado and of course salmon. The flavours worked well and it was topped off with chilli’s, ginger, crispy onions. No sauces were added but the option was available to add yourself. Service was quick and easy.
