Came yesterday evening for food at one of our favourite spots on a sunny day. The terrace is lovely and great for a drink. Food has really gone downhill. Had three roast dinners which were poor - not hot, overcooked, odd gravy and cauliflower cheese. Sea bream was over cooked, and vegetarian burger was very bland and dry. Beautiful terrace but only go for a drink.

We had the sharer chateaubriand roast, it was delicious and cooked perfectly! Will definitely be visiting again and recommending.

Beautiful setting next to the River Thames. Really friendly and helpful staff. Food was out of this world. Highly recommend the Mezze but all of the food we ordered was well presented and delicious. Will definitely be visiting again.

Came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We opted for the dining experienced for two, and at £100 I couldn’t complain 3 course and a choice of a bottle of red/white/rose or Prosecco. All in all a good lunch.

Came for a slightly later than Valentine’s night Valentine’s meal at the weekend with our friends, two couples. We arrived early and while waiting for our friends had a quiet drink in the huge bar area, the staff were friendly and engaging. Dinner was from the Valentine’s set menu £35 for a 3 course meal. We all enjoyed a great meal - my 3 courses were… Starter of chilli prawns was lovely, main course of pan fried Pork belly and scallops was delicious and the apple/damson crumble was very nice. The wine we chose was Penfolds bin 2 and was excellent…restaurant wine is always hugely marked up, often 3-4x retail cost, but this wasn’t - it was quite reasonable. All in all we had a lovely evening, the staff were attentive and friendly.

Popped in recently as we couldn’t be bothered to cook… thinking we’d be in for a treat. I’ve been before and really enjoyed the fish and chips, but being a Sunday I thought I’d have the roast. Very disappointed. The Yorkshire Pudding was terrible (like a disc, it hadn’t risen at all), and the gravy tasted like it was powered, as it had those gelatinous lumps in it. I can cook better, and should’ve stayed in! Not cheap either, being £20 a roast.

Only popped in for a quick lunch food not too bad wish I could say the same for the staff! Have often visited here as we live just outside the village, in all the years I’ve have been coming here never have we been so disappointed! The attitude and atmosphere was so intense with the staff , Abrupt sharp and actually rude to the point it’s certainly put us off coming here anymore, there are plenty of beautiful fantastic pubs in our area and places to eat where the atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming. This is certainly not ! Sorry to say definitely will not be calling in anytime soon

When we arrived we were informed that beer on tap, coke etc. was not available as the pipes were bring cleaned, no roast potatoes they had run out and toilets were out of order but disabled loo was working. Then told they had good food on the menu and they certainly did, could not fault the food, it was delicious! However the service left a lot to be desired, attitude of staff was appalling and wait times were long considering we were the only table left in the pub. Our bill was bought to the table even though we had not asked for it and had not been offered the desert menu. Spoons & serviettes were plonked on the table for deserts and I had to go to the bar and ask if we could order our desserts. Really disappointing as this was a treat for my sister-in-laws birthday. We felt the staff wanted us to leave as soon as possible.

We had a lovely time. The service was excellent. Our server Alex was very helpful and made us feel welcomed. We had the Chateau med rare and it was a very good choice. It was cooked to perfection. We will come back again. Thank you 😊

Pretty poor show on food. My daughters soup was carrot and coriander- stone cold when it arrived with a “lump” of cold cream on top - we sent it back she got a fresh one but was hacked off at this point so didn’t eat the new “hot” one - no money off the bill - we are in the village and won’t be back for some time - awful

Really disappointed, after our visit for my sisters birthday lunch on 24th November. . We booked in advance, making it known on the booking, it was a birthday. At no point during the lunch, was my sister made to feel, even a little bit special. We had both a male and a female server, looking after our table, neither came across particularly warm or friendly, If anything we felt like we were an inconvenience, just being there. We all ordered various cocktails, which were nice, apart from the birthday girls, whose Margarita tasted vile (one of her favourites normally). I asked the waiter if she could change it, as it didn’t taste right, his response was “well it’s been made right” . Surely keeping the customer happy, should be their aim, especially as we were spending a lot of money between the 5 of us, plus it being her birthday, would it really have hurt to replace it? The female waitress was very frosty, I hated having to ask her for anything and that’s when I could even get her attention. We were told on booking, that the most they do for a birthday, is to put a candle in the pudding and only if one was ordered. We all ordered puddings and again nothing was done to signify a birthday. We’re usually very generous with tipping, however, none of us enjoyed the lunch experience and felt bad that the birthday seemed to had gone unmentioned , no matter how many times I mentioned it to them at the table. On this whole experience, we decided not to leave a tip, which is extremely rare for us, but on principle, we felt disgruntled. Once the lack of tip was noticed by the waitress, she then proceeded to give us a hard time about it and we ended up getting into a loud & awkward debate, as she just wouldn’t let it go and was very combative. In this country, I feel the British sometimes tip, regardless of good service due to feeling uneasy, but not me. We were made to feel really awkward, on paying the bill, ruining what was at best, an average lunch and will not be returning any time soon. The following night, I went out for a friends birthday at La De Kitchen in Woodley and had a completely different experience for my friend, a free pudding was bought out, with sparkler on it and everyone singing happy birthday and clapping etc. a large tip was left there, as friendly and excellent customer service. George and dragon are missing a trick here!

This pub has been a favourite of ours for a couple of years now, food is always good but service when busy can be hit or miss unfortunately. However the location of the pub is what brings us back even if just for a drink.

We have all eaten here before, 5 adults meeting up for a good chat and food. My Cousin booked online and we were there for Lunch meal. 2 had soup to start, meals ranged from fish & chips unfortunately this was sent back as when eating it, it had a vile smell, a burger was then ordered, salmon meal, I didn’t fancy the V options so I had the creamy mushroom starter with salad garnish and chips which was lovely, no puddings we all had different coffees .. all in all apart from the fish issue food was lovely. Nice view over looking the fast flowing river. The young man (has a GF at BHX Uni) was very welcoming and very nice to talk to. Us ladies did ask for the disabled toilet to be opened as the others are upstairs, there was no issue to our request. My only negative was how dim the lighting over us was, I know it was a miserable day but a brighter light would have been cheerier … I am sure we will be back next time we visit family

Visited on Saturday night, great welcome by Mihai and his team, service much improved from last visit. Restaurant was clean and tidy. Staff were organised and run like a well oiled machine meaning service was excellent. Food was really good, we had steak which was perfectly cooked and full of flavour and nicely presented, cocktails were great too and all was served with a smile and good humour, so all in all a great experience!

Amazing staff who couldn’t do enough for my family and I. Food was delicious, especially the fish and chips!

Came here for lunch with a group of friends, I must say the pub itself is lovely! Very cosy & lovely atmosphere. Spacious and welcoming inside and outside, situated right beside The Thames. Great weekday menu with good selection of food, beautifully presented. Very clean and comfortable seating. Friendly and kind and helpful staff and great atmosphere.

Without doubt this was by far the worst meal we have EVER experienced in any restaurant or pub anywhere..!! Dried up overcooked, tepid, badly presented INEDIBLE food for both main courses - similar complaints were being made repeatedly by a party on an adjacent table. Admittedly a senior member of staff immediately accepted responsibility and removed both main courses from the bill - she really had no choice as anyone without even a shred of cooking experience would have been embarrassed to serve up what we were expected to accept. Even a request for mustard was met with "we haven't got any" - how can any eating establishment even manage to run out of basic condiments..? We have visited George & Dragon 3 or 4 times a year for a very long time - it used to be a good and reliable place but is now a complete shambles..!! Even the access area around the door leading to the first-floor toilets was littered with children's toys and other debris with some parents sitting cross-legged on the floor - picking ones way through these hazards should not have been necessary if management had any awareness of Health & Safety issues and bothered to see what was staring at them. We will certainly NEVER venture near the place again - an utter disgrace..!!

So my wife has eaten here before and highly recommended the St George and Dragon. Things did not start well as we were shown to a table that was ready for 6 but needed a wipe over, no problem just give it a quick swipe with the napkin. The starters were good all round and everyone enjoyed these. Then the main course arrived, I had Cod and chips. The fish was grey and had a pungent smell, I called waitress over and when I said that the fish was off she claimed that it had been delivered that morning, I would change my fishmonger seriously. The waitress took the offending plate away and I then ordered the massaman curry it was ok but very dry with blackened chicken that I picked at. The salt and pepper seem to be an issue with no salt coming out, the waitress seemed to imply we were all thick and showed that if you really shake the thing you can get a few grains out and proudly showed us salt on her hand. We asked for drinks a couple of times and nothing arrived. It was a disaster

Regular visitor so I feel I am in a good position to comment. I love this place and the staff work their socks off. I have read some of the reviews and feel that some of the comments are extremely harsh, to the point of being rude. I have watched in dismay at some people’s comments in front of me on a packed summers afternoon. The unfortunate thing is lots of people have no courtesy and can’t see when a 16 year old is juggling 8 tables in 30 degree heat, there is a culture of feeling more important than you really are. Just relax, the location is incredible with amazing views, sit and enjoy your surroundings. So you may have to wait 10 minutes longer on some days, it really isn’t the end of the world. Give the staff a break. I went there this evening, food was amazing, served quickly and guess what the staff smiled at me. Keep up the good work guys we appreciate all of you.

Amazing family premium pub, seated right on the River Thames, epic scenery surrounded by calmness fallowing with best quality price food , served with pride and passion by the young and dynamic staff, which they were friendly and professional. Been here with family and kids several time and couldn’t praise it enough. We will definitely go back , again and again. So pleased and grateful to found such an amazing family pub .
