St. Ermin's Tea Lounge in City of London, Westminster

Four of us had a wonderful afternoon tea (with champagne) at St Ermin’s on 7th September. Everything was perfect, the tea lounge itself, the food, the tea and champagne, the beautiful crockery and especially the staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. We felt really spoilt with this experience. We have been before and we will certainly go again. Thank you St Ermine’s.

Beautiful hotel in a wonderful setting very close to St James park and the Mail. Afternoon tea lounge is very nice, with quality all the way, superb old school elegance and service. With a very short stroll to the balcony bar area, again just elegant surroundings and service.

We were recommended to St Ermin’s for afternoon tea which we booked to celebrate our son’s engagement. Staff were courteous but we felt we had to keep asking for teas to be refreshed and in general the staff were not attentive and we felt like we were bothering them. We were surprised chilled cakes were served the same time as sandwiches and if you want extra sandwiches you have to pay extra !! The servings of cream and jam for the scones were sparse and odd to have scones served at the end after the cakes. We all personally like sandwiches, scones then cakes , perhaps others like this concept as it is different to all the other afternoon teas .

I’m been to many afternoon teas throughout London & this is hands down the best! Beautiful setting in a historic hotel with elegant service and amazing food and tea. So relaxing and yummy. Unlimited tea (and you can change flavors and try multiple varieties) and the best mini desserts. What a relaxing break for the afternoon. Highly recommend!

A beautiful oasis of calm elegance. When looking to book tea in London all the glitzy well known places seemed just wrong somehow. The. I came across this lovely hotel and knew it was the place. Service…top notch and friendly without being over the top. The tea delicious. (I had their own blend) and the food wonderful. I won’t try anywhere else for tea. This will always be my spot! The beautiful setting, the local, the food and service are above anything and everything I wanted.

The food was absolutely delish! Presentation was gorgeous! I appreciate that there were traditional favorites mixed in with inventive creations. Kids enjoyed the edible choc flower pot filled with pop rocks and strawberries. While the surroundings were STUNNING and elegant I did not feel awkward having 5 younger children with us. Service was great! Took time to go up to 3rd floor "bee garden" where they have 350k bees and make their own honey.

We were so excited for this experience and it was really the low light of our London trip. We reserved the afternoon tea and champagne service. We were seated in the tea lounge and placed our order for tea. The service was really poor. The waiter seemed to not know what was going on and an HOUR later we had not received any food. We finally flagged down one of the other servers. She said she would get our food out right away. 20 minutes later, the food came out (which is a set menu so should be ready to go at all times). The finger sandwiches were on dried out bread and many of the deserts were bland and gelatinous. A tip was automatically added to our bill and with other fees the total for 3 was a $300.00 disappointment. :- ( . Definitely would NOT recommend!

St Ermin's is the BEST place for afternoon tea. It's a hidden gem. The staff is wonderful, attentive, and makes you feel like royalty. They're down to earth and friendly. The food is out of this world delicious. The chef made exquisite sandwiches, desserts, scones with clotted cream and jam, and the tea selection was extensive. I can't say enough about how great St. Ermin's is. If you're in London, it's worth going there for afternoon tea. Such fantastic value too. St Ermins have just had a refurbishment of the tea lounge and it looks amazing. We finished off with a glass of wine on the terrace. We honestly didn't want to come home.

The food and service were superb. We loved the fact that a vegan menu was offered for high tea. Our group had both traditional and vegan. They were both excellent. I highly recommend this experience.

Our afternoon tea experience was a shining highlight of our trip to London. Our party included my sister, my seven year old daughter, my 70-year old mother in law and myself. Although we clearly came with some tea party energy (floral dresses and fascinators galore), I'm certain the staff treats all of their guests with the same kindness and enthusiasm that they showed us. As this was our first afternoon tea experience, we didn't know what to expect; however, the elegant surroundings, ceremony, kindness, food and tea all blew us away. When I made the reservation I did note that my daughter and I preferred sandwiches without mayonnaise, which was no problem at all (something I was actually nervous about). They treated my daughter like a princess and my mother like a queen. I can't recommend this experience enough, as we are already dreaming of another visit to London where we can stay in the hotel as well.

After visiting Churchills war rooms, we went for some tea and Patrick was very helpful and was very kind when serving us.

I took my teen daughters to the afternoon tea at St. Ermin's hotel. We all thoroughly enjoyed the friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and our tea and sandwiches. The price was reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. The servers were patient and helpful as we decided on our tea selections. We highly recommend the afternoon tea at St. Ermin's hotel!

Loved it!!! Booked the afternoon tea for our family of 4 (2 teenage boys) online with a note that we required one person gluten free. On arrival the staff noted the request on our booking. The staff bring a sampling box of the teas to smell and aide you in your selection. It was a great experience for my sons who don’t normally drink tea but quickly eliminated a few choices. The gluten free tower was just as beautiful as the standard so I never felt like I was missing out. All the options were delicious. We visited on Easter and the standard tower contained addition chocolate chicks and Easter decorations. When booking I was worried the tea wouldn’t be filling enough for two teenage boys, but they were both stuffed and could barely make room for the scones at the end. Staff offer boxes to take any unfinished food with you. Excited for gluten free scones for breakfast.

Highly disappointed. We were looking forward to experiencing a high tea and it was my birthday so we made reservations well in advance. Our table was in the hallway, outside of the tea room so everyone was walking by and we heard the noise and constant commotion of the lobby. The room was not even close to half full. The sandwiches were just ok, desserts lacked flavor. Scones with clotted cream were the highlight as well as the tea. It is one of the least expensive we found. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't what I was hoping.

We had a wonderful experience here for afternoon tea. Yes, you can find cheaper or more expensive tea times, but for the price point, the food and service here was exemplary. Highly recommend coming here and setting aside ample time to properly enjoy their many delicious teas. This experience set my standards for what a high quality afternoon tea experience should be, and I will happily visit again the next time I’m in London.

Our family is a travelling circus of dietary requirements, with one coeliac and one vegetarian, but we all had something we could eat at the St Ermin's Tea Lounge. The gluten-fee sandwiches and cakes arrived on separate plates, as did the vegetarian ones. We had a lovely stand with our sandwiches and cakes on. The cakes were dainty, so we didn't feel too overfaced by all the sweet stuff. There was a good selection of sandwiches and a good choice of tea too. Scones arrived very fresh from the oven with clotted cream and jam - again separate pots for the coeliac so there was no contamination from crumbs. We visited on Mothering Sunday, so we had the treat of a harpist playing in the lounge, and I got a complimentary glass of champagne. The staff were all lovely, which made for a very enjoyable afternoon.

We loved having tea here. The teas were amazing and the sandwiches were delicious, as were the deserts and scones. The service was A+ and the staff very friendly and helpful. I attended the tea afternoon with my friend. The premises were comfortable and welcoming. The whole venue is spotless and very pleasant. We were welcome by all staff with smiles, and warmth and politeness. The tea lounge is tucked on a very quiet floor so we felt away from everything and we appreciate the calm of the atmosphere. We loved the comfort of the armchairs we sat in…we nearly stayed 3hrs at the lounge! The service was impeccable: our two waiters were helpful, nice at all times. The food was scrumptious: I had the vegetarian savoury bits but we both chose the desserts from the regular menu though. All the food was excellent but our favourite bits were the savoury sandwiches, they were yummy and…the scones! These were ones of the best I had. We had the possibility to choose from a good variety of tea: both of us are rather ‘specialists’ so we regretted not to have the option for oolong and white teas. Still our Souchong and Darjeeling teas were very good. We were very hungry when we arrived and it was difficult for us to finish the food so portions are very generous. Overall the tea afternoon at St Ermin’s lounge was a great experience and a wonderful time which we will cherish. I do hope to come back some time.

I visited St Ermin's with two friends whom I have known since we were all five years old! We were at infants and junior schools together and have all recently celebrated our 70th birthdays which we wanted to celebrate in style. We chose the perfect place in which to do just that!!! The dining room is most stylish and has an intimate and peaceful atmosphere. Patrick made us very welcome and talked us through the various teas that were available, as well as the food when it arrived. There were more than sufficient sandwiches and dainty pastries, as well as delicious scones, cream and jam. Altogether a delightful and memorable experience - one which I cannot recommend highly enough!!

My mother, her best friend, her best friends mother, and I, were visiting London for the first time. We were desperately searching for a spot where we could have true, traditional afternoon tea. Luckily we were able to find St. Ermin's Tea Lounge on google! The atmosphere was so elegant and clean. The sandwiches, tea, and pastries were delicious! The presentation was excellent, and we received the most welcoming treatment by the manager, Joanna, and her employees Patrick & Lucy. They were very lovely. Would definitely recommend this spot to others and next time we visit we will be coming back to this location!

Hi, I went with my husband for Champagne afternoon tea today and we enjoyed it very much. A lovely hotel except there’s no attractive outlook from tearoom, apparently better in warmer weather as outdoor seating available. Food was delicious especially desserts . Could have been a little bit more food for 2 people though.

Our afternoon tea experience here was last-minute, but absolutely delightful! The kids and I tagged along on my husband’s work trip to London. My teenager surprised me by sharing that he wanted to experience an afternoon tea. Some brief research led us to St. Ermin’s. While our very casual family attempted to get spruced up a bit, we got caught in a rain spell while walking to the tea room. Patrick greeted us warmly and took our coats to the cloakroom to dry. As newcomers, we were excited, but intimidated. Patrick walked us through the menu and tea selection. The combination of the beautiful ambiance, the attentive service, and the delicious food and tea really made our day! Patrick even offered to take photos, which was greatly appreciated. The whole experience felt authentic, welcoming and beginner-friendly without being touristy. Consider me a huge fan!!

Lovely afternoon spent in the quiet of the St Ermins for tea. Excellent service by Patrick who gave us a brief history lesson on the St Ermins, and was very helpful with tea choices. Food sensitivities were no issue. Sandwiches and Cakes were excellent and varied, and so many teas to choose from. We had the Christmas tea which was great and our pot was never empty. The reception and surrounding areas are beautifuly decorated for the Christmas period adding to the festive feel but calm and warm.! Our visit was topped off by the harpist who played beautiful music later in our visit. I would not hesitate to visit for again. A lovely experience.

Me and my mom did not stay at the hotel, we were just there to get the Afternoon Tea. We have tried it 2 times before and it was just as good this time, if not BETTER. The sandwiches, the cakes AND the Tea was very good. The service (Paula from Portugal) was very sweet and amazing and the hotel in generel was beuatiful. We will defiently be back again.

I went for Afternoon Tea at St Ermin’s with a group of friends & we had a very enjoyable time. The food & champagne were delicious & delightfully presented in a very pleasant & relaxing environment. Patrick our waiter/sommelier was very friendly, helpful & informative & added to the enjoyment of our visit to St Ermins.

What an absolutely amazing afternoon tea we had. The service and food were first class, the two lads that were front of house had thier fingers on the pulse. They described the experience and what exactly was going to happen. We had a dietary requirement and the lads with the kitchen staff came up trumps.

Afternoon Tea on my last day in the UK was excellent. I booked the same day and was fortunate to reserve a place in the elegant Tea Room. I felt the history of great service with the leisure often list in present days. The lovely St Ermin blend of black tea paired beautifully with the sweet and savory delights. The servers set a tone of welcome, which I appreciate as a solo traveler. Having experienced high teas in many cities, I give my highest marks to Afternoon Tea at St Ermin’s.

Once upon a time, a little girl dreamed of being a princess. Today the staff of St. Ermin's made me feel like royalty. I was personally escorted up the stairs to the tea lounge and introduced by name. My afternoon tea was as beautiful as it was delicious. Atmosphere could not be more perfect. Multiple staff waited on me. They were kind knowledgeable and attentive but not overbearing. I came alone due to my son who I was traveling with made other plans. They never made me feel awkward and engaged me in light conversation when I felt like chatting. I looked into a number of places when choosing where to have my tea. I took in to consideration atmosphere , experience I hoped to have as well as price I was willing to pay. I'm so glad I chose St. Ermin's. It was everything I hoped for!

My husband and I were staying at St. Ermin's as part of our 54th anniversary celebration. Our children sent us a gift certificate forTea at St. Ermin's. We just got done with our tea at St Ermins. I must say WOW! The building is beautiful, set back from the street, very quaint and historic. The tea was delicious and the scones were fantastic. But forget about all of that. The staff that was there today, Victoria, Gemma and Shaz were the stars of the show. They turned the whole experience into an honest and authentic highlight of our week in London. By the end of the tea I felt like they were my own daughters and they talked with my family like we were part of theirs. Absolutely wonderful staff, they did a great job finding true gems! Yesterday we were fancy and sipped champagne and enjoyed Afternoon Tea at @sterminshotel in London. 🇬🇧Afternoon tea is quintessentially British because it embodies the essence of elegance and tradition that defines British culture. From the minute you buzz (see what I did there!) onto the award winning St Ermin’s property, the elegant ambiance feels intimate and relaxed. It’s quite a contrast to the hustle and bustle of the London streets.🫖🇬🇧🥂 .

We were blown away by our experience for afternoon tea here. I got the vegan/vegetarian menu because I'm lactose intolerant. It was all very tasty, though the sandwiches were a bit soggy because they were probably made ahead of time. Our server was fantastic, can't recall his name because it was very unique, but he was fantastic to talk to and gave us great tips about London. The tea was so flavorful, and the ambiance felt royal.

Lovely afternoon tea lounge! The hotel courtyard is beautiful upon entry, and the tea lounge is located upstairs just above the lobby. Though it is a rather posh hotel and lounge, the service and staff were so welcoming! We were not dressed up in our finest, and were treated no different! We chose St. Ermin's Hotel for our afternoon tea. The sandwiches, sweets and scones tasted great as well as the tea. Agnieszka, our waitress, made us feel very special. She was very friendly and we had also a small chat. All the experience was magical.
