We were spending the day in Tain and rounded it off with a lovely meal here served by a very friendly staff member. The food was delicious, really tasty and we enjoyed very good sized portions. Whilst it is not the cheapest meal we have ever eaten ( and I am only talking about literally a couple of pounds here), it was 100% worth the cost and represented great value for money - I would aways rather pay a couple of pounds more for a meal like this than a cheaper one that was not up to this very high standard. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and when finished we knew we had eaten well, which is not always the case when you eat out these days. We will be back for more next time we are in Tain. Thank you! In summary: Top value for money Huge portions Excellent tasting food, very well cooked Attentive and friendly staff Very reasonably priced for what you get Will definitely return

Can't fault the food, it was absolutely delicious, but the guy who served us was, well.... let's just say he gave the impression he didn't want to be there? It was like he was reading from a script and we got the bare minimum from him! Not very friendly and a bit unprofessional, especially as he started clearing the table of the condiments as we were still sat there. Without as much as a word. Not even any eye contact! Rude! Maybe we caught him on a bad day? Who knows? The food however is absolutely spot on, best haddock and chunky chips ever!

What a fantastic meal we had at the Saint Duthus Hotel. We were a group of 7 and we enjoyed some cocktails first and then all of us greatly enjoyed our different main courses. Their sundae’s for pudding were exceptional as well, really tasty. Kirsty, Yvonne and team looked after us brilliantly and we had a thoroughly enjoyable night.

Visited to try the set Sunday lunch menu. We were warmly greeted by a friendly Hostess/Waitress and seated in the lounge bar/restaurant area, which is inviting with comfortable seating, warmly decorated and has a real feel good vibe about it. Set menu on a Sunday; £16 for one course or £22 for 2. They’re was also a choice of 2 roasts, pork or beef. They offer a more varied menu Monday to Saturday, set menu is on a Sunday it seems. Prawn Cocktail starter; Was a large portion of fresh tasty prawns, sauce and salad which you put together yourself! It’s presentation was a little bit different and something you’d definitely remember, loved it! Roast beef was tender and cooked perfectly served with plenty fresh vegetables, roasties, homemade Yorkshire pudding and delicious gravy. We really enjoyed our meal and recommend to everyone to try the place. Will definitely be returning here again :)

Very good menu, our selections were served piping hot and delicious too! The entire staff is very nice, the manager, Allen, went out of his way to make us feel like we were special, as I saw him do for all their other guests. Evidently, this is a very popular restaurant among the locals in Tain, and I can attest that it is a well-deserved reputation. I highly recommend this restaurant for a pleasant and well-prepared dinner in a nice, casual setting.

Stop for a quick lunch. Friendly staff but the interior (orange / pink / black) was a shock. Our party ordered tuna sandwiches and I ordered a cheese and ham sandwich. It was shockingly poor. Two pieces of dry bread (no butter) with a sprinkling of grated cheese and 2 slices of ham so thinly sliced I could see through it. I should have refused to pay £6.50. Expresso coffee was instant coffee frothed up! Not worth a visit.

Small portions, I had a nice curry with a small cup full of rice (I mean small) and a nan bread smaller than my hand. Great if you want a taster. Managed to get one drink, but had an empty glass for most of the evening waiting for a top up that never came. Nice environment, nice tables, inexperienced staff. Eventually she found what wines they had and the Oz shirts was nice, at £6 a large (not that large) glass. Went back to the hotel hungry and sober.

Menu simple but good. Plenty of outside/covered outside seating and in this weather that was a bonus. Everything lovely & clean & all Covid protocols followed. Restaurant with rooms - would stay here if visiting again.Only downside was the opening times - seemed to only be open at weekends and although open for lunch on Sunday it was closed in the evening but given current restrictions it is maybe what hours are best for them.

I have eaten here over the last two weeks, due to being in town for work. The food is fab. And the service equals it. Nothing is too much bother. And the staff are so attentive and friendly. I think they have recently under gone a make over inside, the only fault I would say is that the condiments and sauces are served in something that you would expect to see in a road side cafe - but doesn’t alter the great food! (Oh and on the table there are these weird air plant - come - cactus - things. No need!) Great place and well worth the money. :-) (to add, i am a female travelling alone and felt very safe being in here on my own)

They provided a separate children's menu with colouring in and crayons for our wee one. I ordered a burger and my wife ordered the Hunter's Chicken. Just had an extra cheesy Mac and Cheese lunch and Americano coffee with Drambuie. What a wonderful location.

We booked for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Fabulous vibe, and the restaurant was really busy. There was a slight delay in being served, but the food we had was excellent. We ordered cauliflower pakora for starter to share with a bottle of water and bottle of sauvignon blanc. We ordered the winter salad with chicken and one without with a side of fries. All was delicious and will definitely go back. Including 10% tip total cost was £83.95.

We had a wonderful diner with perfect plates of local cheese, dried meat and bread served with a perfect wine. Thanks a lot for the perfect diner.

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

I recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Dores Inn, and I still find myself reminiscing about the experience six months later. Nestled along the shores of the iconic Loch Ness, this charming inn offers a perfect blend of stunning views, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely ambiance that sets the tone for a relaxing visit. The inn has ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a cozy spot to enjoy the picturesque scenery. We opted for an outside table, and it turned out to be the best decision of the day. The views of the loch were absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for our meal. Speaking of the meal, I must rave about the food—simply sublime! I usually find coleslaw unappealing, but Dores Inn's homemade version was a game changer. It was fresh, flavorful, and complemented our dishes beautifully. Every bite was a testament to the culinary care that goes into their offerings. After our satisfying meal, we joined a Rib-Boat journey on the loch, which was an exhilarating way to experience the surroundings. The thrill of speeding across the water, combined with the breathtaking views of the loch and its mythical charm, made for an unforgettable adventure. As a memento of our day, I couldn't resist purchasing one of their handmade crochet teddies of Nessie. It's now a cherished keepsake that brings back fond memories of our visit. To wrap up our day, we took a leisurely walk along the shoreline. The tranquility of the loch, coupled with the stunning natural beauty surrounding us, was the perfect ending to a fantastic day. Overall, Dores Inn exceeded my expectations in every way. From the lovely atmosphere and great views to the delectable food and friendly service, it’s a place I highly recommend. If you're looking for an exceptional day out near Loch Ness, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this gem. I still think about that wonderful day, and I can’t wait to return!
