SS8 Restaurant in Castle Point

Pathetic show food ok but came out to parking ticket. With my badge I could have parked for free across the rd I had no idea this tiny concrete space beside the pub was chargeable. Having been advised to ignore it by forums I now have court costs of £175 for a crap night in a crap place I came 30 miles to get to. Wont be doing that again. Liberty taking ribbers

A group of about 40 of us went there for a meal to say farewell to a friend. The food was excellent and the service was good. The surroundings were very relaxed. As this establishment is also a Cocktail Lounge the drinks were a bit on the pricy side. Nice comfortable seating but Car Parking is expensive and the company which run the Car Park are far too quick to issue tickets. I was 3 minutes late leaving and they hit me for £100 PCN. Total thieves. My advice would be to park in Lubbins School Car Park which is a 2 minute walk away.

Had a fantastic night at Estuary views with my fiance. Service was quick and food was fresh and delicious. Amount of food for money was great. Plus had a Michael Bublé tribute singer on who was pleasantly good and an added bonus. Plus the wine is the best by far. Will be coming back again. Great date night.

No longer called SS8 and is now known as Estuary View Taken completely by surprise have been frequenting Canvey for many years and didn't know this existed.it is situated on the upper floor of the Monico public house. Staff are exceptionally helpful and service brilliant.Food and drinks are exceptional value.Decor and seating very very good with lovely view over the coastline will certainly visit again Sunday roast supported by ample various vegetables The only drawback is the stairs (about 20)leading up to restuarant

I visited this restaurant for a meal with friends in December 2017 and was really looking forward to it after reading all the good reviews. However I actually can't believe I dined at the same place. The food was at best bland and average, and at worst completely inedible. The garlic mushroom starter was straight from a freezer and rock hard. The prawn linguine was tasteless. My friend had the vegetable soup which was akin to liquid grass, and the roast beef which was completely inedible - the Yorkshire was rock solid, the beef was as tough as a boot, and the potatoes appeared to be covered in a thick layer of salt. Dessert was probably the highlight of the meal but to be honest no better than what you could pick up in a supermarket. To make matters worse the service was absolutely shocking. We sat down at 8, starters arrived at 9.10. Nobody came to ask if everything was satisfactory (maybe they knew what our answer would be). Things were thrown down in front of us as if the waiting staff were fed up. Not once were we approached to ask if we wanted any more drinks other than the one served on arrival. One member of our party didn't receive her main until we had all finished, and then her dessert went missing too. There was no approach from management, and nothing by way of a proper apology or an explanation. I definitely cannot recommend this place I seriously struggle to understand how anyone could.

Came here for a friends birthday. Nice layout. Food was tasty, well presented and delicious, plenty of it too! I had the lamb for main which was beautiful. I could have eaten it all over again!!! Waitresses were very friendly, attentive and helpful. Toilets need some attention and revamping.

The lady running this place takes time out her night to speak to you and all the other staff are just as friendly the food here is some of the best if not the best that I have had since I moved to Canvey this place is well worth a visit and I know that I will be going back again

The venue is shabby...Thursday steak night,rather than a choice as advertised,consisted of a doubtful rib eye?,the wine wasn't actually wine,rather a grape concentrate.. proper wines from the list weren't available.. by then I hadn't the courage to order dessert and had a coffee instead which turned out to be Nescafe instant...The entertainment consisted of the manager spending an hour touching up the barmaid..service was patchy...had to interrupt the entertainment to ask for the bill... perhaps not a surprise that the bill was incorrect by £40.. I wouldn't eat there again for free...

Always go on Thursday evening in a group of ladies, a few cocktails,lovely steak meal at a brilliant value price I.e. 2xsteak + bottle wine for £25. Very nice staff. In process of being updated, so , will be even better soon. Love this place

Terrible experience from the start , no idea what a Virgin Mary was although they took the order came back and said sorry we can't do a Virgin Mary ! Also sorry we haven't got the beer that you ordered ! Food order taken and 10 minutes later over the waiter comes and explains sorry we don't have a particular starter that you have ordered, should of seen the alarm bells then ! . Certain drinks unavailable along with certain dishes , this on a Saturday night and on looking around we were the only 4 people seated , more staff than us . Food arrived , potted Cornish crab � what a laugh �, crab from a tin no taste apart from water , accompanying tatre sauce forgotten at least when we asked and it arrived it added a little flavour to a bland starter. Mains arrived well let's just talk about the lamb dish , firstly within 2 minute my wife had sent hers back ! Although I found the actual lamb very nice the accompanying items were well let's say strange and out of place on the plate, potato roistee was just a deep fried potato item which I will safely say was from a certain manufacturer frozen packet , the sauce to go with the lamb well if you need a sugar rush you would of loved it . We ordered some extra chips and again Aunt Bestie made an appearance on the table from her frozen packet . I can give a thank you to our waiter who tried his hardest to make our evening as good as possible , port chap I felt sorry for him trying to sort out all our problems. What a shame I have had to post this as I was looking forward to a lovely evening supporting a local Canvey business , I am sorry to say we won't be back and certainly won't be recommending to anyone .

Been here a few times now. The food is lovely and you can relax in their comfy chairs after eating and have a few drinks. The cocktails are great too.

Lovely atmosphere and food. Very good service. We went for mother's day with 3 generations and all enjoyed it. After eating we relaxed in the bar/lounge area

Even though under development this place is well worth a visit. Loved the place for its cocktails and ambiance before it started renovations. Fair price and will have lovely view over Thames estuary when finished

Was surprised to enter restaurant from the one I'm used too. Restaurant seems to now be called Estuary View. Started with a couple of cocktails whilst looking at menu. Food was served and tasted excellent could not fault the food and service. Will definitely go again it would be silly not to as it is on our doorstep. Thak you for our lovely evening.

What can I say, Thursday night, Special for £25, such good value, This place is a hidden gem, really nice surroundings, staff superb, just make sure you pay for your parking, & get a full refund when you pay for your meal,

Mi marido y yo tuvimos carne asada y los otros miembros de la familia tenía el cerdo y el pollo, todos eran encantadores y caliente y realmente delicioso, hemos estado en la noche y eso fue muy filete encantador pero la primera vez para comer el domingo por un largo tiempo, pero sin duda volveremos pronto. . . . . . La única razón por la que cayó star fue que para nosotros miserables sods la música era demasiado ruidoso. No me importa en. un viernes o sábado, pero a veces es agradable oír la música de fondo, en la que decía que el educado joven sirve no ir y que bajar un poco para nosotros. . . . . .

18 miembros de U3 Un visitado Thameside SS 8 hoy para pescado y patatas fritas. La comida era excelente y abundante. Decían que era el mejor pescado y patatas fritas que habían tenido. El servicio fue rápido y eficiente, el personal era amable y servicial y no podía haber hecho sentir más bienvenidos. Sin duda volveremos.

We had a roast dinner here and the portions were like children's ( i am only 12 stone so don't eat massive dinners )The drinks are very expensive. The staff were pleasant and the decor with the leather sofas are very stylish.Pop in for a drink with friends but not the place i would stay all night ( and couldn't afford to either )

Came here as a treat for me and my daughters. Very disappointed in our choice of venue. Started off not great with cocktails that were not up to scratch. We were left seated in the bar area for 30mins. We had a cinema booking to follow on from our lunch and was getting concerned after 20mins of sitting there (presumably in the hope we'd order more drinks as at this point the restaurant was actually completely empty!) so after failing to get the attention of the one waitress I went over to her and politely said we have a cinema booking in an hour so could we now order. Got met with a curt reply of I was coming over now anyway. To which she then did. Starter of prawns was tiny but quite tasty. Daughters was more like a sausage roll but she said it was ok. Sadly the mains were a disaster. The roast beef meal was served with processed beef slices, soggy roast potatoes and soggy frozen veg. My daughter was starving so decided she'd eat as much as she could. We were told the lamb shank was to be replaced with lamb rump which we said was fine. It was served quickly. The mash and gravy was delicious. The lamb however was completely inedible. We couldn't cut it. My daughter asked for a steak knife to assist but this proved to be of no help. We both tried to eat a piece each and just could not chew through it. In fact we had the embarrassment of both having to spit it out onto our plates as it was just impossible to chew it sufficiently to swallow without choking. We gave up and told the waiter we just couldn't eat it. We were offered something else and opted for the roast chicken. Both new meals arrived quickly by the original waitress. She decided to inform me that the reason the lamb meat was so chewy was because we should've not ordered it medium rare as it's better well done. I've dined all over the world and really didn't need telling on how I should ask for my meat to be cooked. I took one bite of the chicken, knew instantly it's been microwaved and had no choice but to leave it. The yorkshires were dry and the potatoes were soggy. I never ate any of it. The waiter asked if meal was ok to which I replied I cannot eat any of it. He just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. We asked for the bill. He literally threw it at the table without stopping and said 'here's your bill!' We were gobsmacked. The meal I'd left had not even been taken off the bill, but somehow this did not surprise me. What should've been a pleasant afternoon lunch with my daughters turned into a complete disaster. Will never return.

Went there for the Valentines menu and really enjoyed it, the food was lovely, the music was good, the atmosphere was relaxing and the staff couldn't have been more attentive, particularly Kim who served us thank you for a lovely evening.

Went with friends who are all couples, sadly me now on my own. The steak night offer for them was good value, as two meals included a bottle of wine for £25 The choice for me was limited to a vegetarian meal or a tuna steak, which I chose.It was served with rice and mangetout and was very nice and freshly cooked and hot. However, compared to what they had on their plates, my meal was decidedly lacking in another vegetable , as I was actually still hungry, and I'm not a big eater. Purely my opinion.

Went there with 3 friends, not for the first time either, as usual the service and the food was great! Especially when the waitress asked us if we would like a complementary glass of processco! Happy days...Kim has taken over there from Alex and is so far doing a great job, although I was a little concerned as not many people in there for a Friday night, but as it was not quite pay day for a lot of people coming towards the end of January its to be expected! Well until the next time )))

Sunday lunch today was definitely not as good as it has been in the past. Although our previous visit wasn't so good.The portion sizes seemed to have got smaller and today the cooking wasn't so good. The starters were small and I have to say the amount of soup was an insult.On the main meals, the roast potatoes were hard and the yorkshire puddings were dry.The best part was the dessert.We will probably not be returning which is a shame as we've been going to the SS8 for quite a while.

Thought we would give SS8 a go for a girls night, the free prosseco whilst dining was the selling point. Staff were friendly, decor was lovely, the bar and restaurant was clean and kept well but the toilets really let it down, however you don't eat in there so it didn't bother me too much, just worth a mention, something to work on.We were seated quickly, poured prosseco quickly, offered water and then a chance to look at the menu.Food was amazing, I couldn't fault it, however we all felt the food came out too quick on top of each other. As we were there for a catch up we felt we didn't have time to talk.Again, not complaining too much as it's better than sitting there starving!!Just want to say, the staff were all amazing, couldn't do enough to make sure we were happy, so polite and attentive.I will definitely be going back, can't recommend their Al a carte menu enough.

Wow!! I have never been catered for so well. Mentioned allergies when booking and was told they specialise in gluten free. I was still presently surprised with the amount of effort they went to to make my dining experience totally amazing! Definitely recommend :)

tonight we went to ss8. drinks only.... we had cocktails which were lovely... we asked for crisps. however they don't serve these... the waitress took the trouble to go to the kitchen where the chef prepared us chips on the house!! great staff. really helpful and friendly...

I have been here many times and it is always good service, good food. Sunday lunch is exceptional, service today has been impeccable,Kim, Salwa and Mark are efficient and friendly, they make you feel at ease. The food is delicious. not tube missed

Service is slow food is nice but over priced and because of the speed of the service went over 10 mins on parking got ticket went and told them I was eating and got delayed said could not help them was threatened with court will never go again

I've lived on the island now for about twenty two year heard lots of rumours about the monico so I've really kept away ( how narrowed minded I have been my wife and I have heard lots of great thing about ss8 a restaurant within the monico complex so we decided to have a night out there so impressed and I mean impressed the food was so delicious we sat there trying to pick fault with it all the decor spot on for us as I said before food is delicious and as we walk in we were met with a real warm weclome and looked after for the remainder of our evening most definitely going back plus I've learnt a valuable lesson find out yourself don't listen to other's well done to ss8

Went here on a Friday for a few drinks... The cocktails were really good, prices a little expensive for canvey - but nice to have somewhere different to a standard pub.The staff were really nice too and bought all our drinks to the table rather than us having to wait at he bar until the drinks were ready.

The food was well presented. My chicken was so tender & hubby said his steak was cooked to perfection. Complimentry wine was a lovely touch for me. The seating in the lounge & dining area was so comfortable. Oh yes, I`m trying to forget the Choc Brownie which was delish as I`m supposed to be on a diet. When I go again will I forget to order the Choc Brownie?

Had a wonderful meal which was excellent value and the overall setting of the restaurant and lounge bar was both relaxing and enjoyable with comfy chairs to relax in in the lounge bar. The staff were very friendly and helpful and will definitely be coming to SS8 again. Would love to try one of your wonderful cocktails next time.The only fault I could find was that there was no lighting at the back of the entrance/exit and the stairs were very dark, especially when leaving. Maybe this could be rectified by putting white lines to the edge of each stair/step. Apart from that a great place to visit

Had a very tasty Sunday lunch with family, very attentive staff, nice comfy sofas to sit and have a drink before your meal,been here for Thursday special steak and wine night also, had my birthday meal here back in April, nice place to celebrate.

Myself and friends went along for an event which included a two course meal. We waited for 10 minutes before getting a menu of even being asked if we would like a drink. After we had chosen our meal, unfortunately for me I chose the spaghetti Bolognese, which was dried up meatballs and spaghetti with no sauce. When I complained, I was told " but it is home made". BUT, give them their due, it was taken off the bill. Service was very slow but they were very short staffed and the staff that were working, did work very hard. Not sure I would try again.

We had a meal here with family and we had a lovely evening. The restaurant is decorated really well and the big leather chairs are so confy to sit in and relax for the evening. The food we had was singing, very fresh and very hot when it was served. You get a nice choice of your courses, you can have what you want, two courses was £19.99 and three courses was £24.99. This is great value as the food and service was very good. It is nice and quiet in the bar and restaurant, not too packed but people coming and going all night. It is only open in the evenings but it is open during the day on a Subday for roasts. If you want a good meal with reasonable prices then try here. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because you have to go to the back of a pub and up some iron stairs to get there and to leave and we had two older people with us and they found these quite difficult to use and were quite worried about going up and down them, otherwise a great place to eat.

myself and my husband are shortly moving on to Canvey, so thought we should try the restaurants and bars of the island Tonight we chose SS8. we had a lovely meal, with good wine served by very attentive, but not overpowering staff. all staff were informative and helpful... we will be back very soon... excellent food and wine...

Our first time here, and very nicely surprised to visit a gem of a place. service is very good, greeted for pre drinks ...peroni on tap. our night was a friday and it was mildly busy on a specialty 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £25. Very relaxing experience and not somewhere to take the kids. but hey leave the kids at home and enjoy. steak was very good .. wine was hardy white which is reliable. side order of dipping bread took away the need for a starter... so we had the most amazing bread and butter pudding ... by the end we were pleasantly full. definately will return again on a monthly basis. bill came to £37 which is good for what we had and predrinks £6 ( pint of peroni and a coke ) .

Just cant rate this place highly enough, staff excellent, food excellent, price excellent.Relaxing and comfortable atmosphere and never any rush to get the bill, in fact I've stayed until 2/3 am on a few occasions. Such a welcoming place to eat.

Have been several times now, menu changed often, food amazing, presentation first class and the staff could not be more obliging and friendly. After your lovely meal you can retire to the lounge and sit in comfort on their leather chesterfield settees and enjoy one of the many cocktails they offer. In the background nice subtle music playing. Definitely a massive bonus to have this on Canvey.

Heard all the great reviews for SS8 Restaurant so decided to give it a visit with the family and so pleased we did.The venue has a very trendy Lounge Bar comprising of ample luxurious Chesterfield sofas and a fully stocked cocktail bar.Easy background music sets a relax atmosphere to the vibrant guests!We chose to sample a few speciality cocktails from the bar while our meals were being cooked and they were delicious.A waitress took us through to the restaurant to be seated for our meals and all three courses tasted as good as they looked.We particularly enjoyed the roasts. The vegetables were fresh, hot and cooked to perfection. The roast potatoes were fluffy inside with a crispy covering and were to die for! The ample beef was succulent and very, very tasty.Needless to say the plates went back to the kitchen empty.Try and leave room for desserts... I'm not going to spoil the surprise - they are delicious.We retreated for coffees in the Lounge Bar and the waiter even put my wife's coat on for her - never had staff do that before in a restaurant.The service was excellent, we did not want for anything.The food and drinks are outstanding.The venue truly does offer a fine dinning experience.Many thanks to Alex the restaurant manager for making us feel so welcome and ensuring our visit was one to remember.Looking forward to trying out your steak night on Thursday.

Visiting friends on Canvey Island and asked if their was much nightlife so they brought me to The SS8 Restaurant & Bar.Super cool environment at night, full of vibrant people enjoying the speciality cocktails made by the bar staff.Very trendy venue and loving the comfortable Chesterfield sofas.We enjoyed ourselves so much we lost track of time and before we knew it it was 3 o'clock in the morning. Super night out. Highly recommended.

I visited today with my husband and 2 friends, lovely relaxed atmosphere, decor is beautiful. One thing with SS8 lounge it's faultless. The standard of the SS8 Lounge is all maintained with perfection. The food was Lovely, I must say the number of times I have been the choices change, which I do like, I like to see something new and different when I visit restaurants. Back to the food - it was tasty, well presented.Desert was to die for. I'm really looking forward to my next visit. It's certainly one I would like to go with my friends and family.

Visited with friends for dinner up a flight of stairs to reach the SS8 Lounge.Very nicely decorated inside with a large selection of chesterfield sofas to relax on.A fully stocked inviting cocktail bar serves up some delicious drinks too.This place ticked so many boxes but let us down on the main event which was the reason for us attending... the food.All our roasts were served at room temperature at best.We spent so long chewing the beef our faces hurt and I actually started to count chewing.Management did offer a refund for the main meals, however, by this time the overall experience was ruined.Might return for drinks but dinners off the table for us.Was surprised they got the food wrong as there is a limited menu on offer here.

Visited for a romantic meal with the wife to celebrate our anniversary.SS8 does have paid parking but we had trouble parking nearby due to flooding.The venue is up a flight of stairs which did not give a good first impression to us.However, once inside we were quite surprised as the venue has nice decor and you are surrounded by very comfortable chesterfield sofas.We started with a drink at the bar before being escorted to the dinning area where our meals arrived soon after.I must say the service was good but the food was served at room temperature at best. Their website boasts "our head chef was personally trainedby James Buckley" but no member of staff could verify this which set alarm bells ringing.After deserts we decided to stay for cocktails which were very nice so we found a nice sofa to relax and talk.As the evening went on the music was turned up so loud I could no longer hear my wife talking next to me.We left due to a group of drunken pub goes being allowed in at midnight.Not somewhere I would take the wife for a romantic dinner again.

Just had yet another delicious meal at the SS8 Lounge! Everytime I come here the food seems even better than before! You would struggle to find anywhere that can offer you great food and a bottle of wine for £25 for two. Cheap and totally worth it!

We have been to the SS8 a couple of times now for dinner & last Thursday we went for the steak night, you get steak, chips, onion rings, salad & peas each plus a bottle of wine for £25. We thought the food & service was excellent & we felt we were looked after very well. You can upgrade your steak to a fillet for an extra £7 & I must say it was perfect! The atmosphere was nice & relaxed & we will definitely be returning. On this occasion we didn't try any of the cocktails but can recommend them for previous visits.

As a small party of 4, we visited SS8 a week or so ago and from the moment we arrived, we felt very welcome in this restaurant. The food and service were excellent, faultless in fact. All starters were as described, the mains were very well presented and piping hot and cooked to perfection. The desserts were obviously home made which makes a difference and reflexed the quality of the dining experience. Overall a great place to go and would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone.

Thought I would treat the wife to a fine dinning experience to finish what was a great day visiting Canvey Island.The steps up to the restaurant will definitely make you feel hungry should you make it to the top which we kept in mind when ordering at the bar so as not to fall down them when leaving.We did wait a very long time to be served at the bar despite there not being many customers in the lounge or restaurant. However the long wait was well worth it as the cocktails were amazing albeit the same price as the dinner!We sat down on some very comfortable leather sofas and enjoyed the lovely cocktails with smooth background music.. it was quite nice.Eventually we were escorted to our table in the small restaurant area but was disappointed as the plates were cold and the food was at best warm even though some parts of the meal were over cooked or possibly reheated! When paying fine dinning prices we expect a fine dining experience and sadly this was not provided. Admittedly the boy at the bar gave a very generous discount for the ruined dinners. Even a full refund would not have compensated for a disappointing end to what had been a fantastic day at the seaside on Canvey Island.

We have been to SS8 a few times now and it just gets better and better. Great service, excellent food and that real personal touch from Alex and his team on every visit.Certainly worth a visit or many and do try the cocktails !!!

We previously had a Sunday Lunch and returned for a Saturday Night with friends.Firstly parking is available but you MUST make sure you have a valid ticket for ALL of your visit. Monitored by CCTV on Licence Plate and you do get it refunded but beware it can cost you if you don't have that ticket.Entrance is up a steel staircase but once inside very comfortable surroundings with nice Chesterfields and pleasant ambiance. Food is very good with excellent choice and portion size. You can then return to the lounge and relax after. Only minor grumble is they need 1 more staff to either wait tables or sort the drinks. Empty glasses for too long costs them money in the long run. This would not stop us returning its a very nice place. It was also nice that the door is managed after a certain time so no noisy latecomers. Nice people, nice place. There is only 1 gents toilet, can't comment on ladies. It was not busy but could see this as an issue when it is. Excellent Staff, very courteous. 6 of us had 3 courses with drinks cost £70 a couple. Good value for a Saturday Night.

I visited this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend and I must say I was a little disappointed at the fire escape entrance when I arrived as the internet photos looked great. Nevertheless we went inside and was greeted by a doorman who was very polite. We then went to the bar and the staff greeted us like old friends and were very attentive. The bar area has lots of sofas to sit and relax and the restaurant area is separate and in keeping with the rest of the lovely decor. The menu choice is limited but in my opinion this means that they can concentrate on quality food and I was not disappointed. The presentation and the quality of the food was excellent and would not be out of place in London. Do yourself a favour and give this restaurant a go - you will not be disappointed

A large group of us went for a meal to celebrate an 18th birthday, the staff were fantastic, so helpful and friendly, the food was pretty good too! will be sure to go again

I am a regular visitor to the SS8 lounge and I can say with confidence that every single time myself and family members have eaten or had drinks there, the service has been brilliant. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly and warm hearted. They will always do their best to do what they can to please their customers and if there are any issues they are quick to resolve them. It is a lovely place to eat out with the family and also a great night out if you fancy a few cheeky cocktails. All in all I would 100% recommend visiting the SS8 lounge!

As a regular customer of SS8, I would highly recommend eating in the resturant to anybody that enjoys amazing food, the menu always has a wide variety of dishes to choose from, and has never failed to impress us, the waiteresses provide a wonderful table service which is friendly, warm and very professional. The lounge has an unbeatable atmosphere, you are able to relax on comfortable sofas in your own area where a mixture of tasteful cocktails and other beverages are available. The staff constantly excel themselves with the quality of customer service and go above and beyond each and every time. Definitely one of my favourite places to visit.

Go here very often, amazing service staff very friendly and attentive. Food lovely and cocktails are made to perfection would recommend a visit here.

Visited ss8 restaurant this evening and had a thoroughly good time.. Exquisite food, excellent staff, value for money and an atmosphere that u couldn't put a price on... Will definitely be making a return visit in the very near future x

16 of us for steak night(Thursday's) was a fantastic night steak melt in the mouth(l paid extra £5 for rib eye but really worth it)£25 for 2 steaks and extras with a bottle of wine too! We all had a great time, met in the lounge for cocktails, chose our meal,no hassle no rush taken to table where the staff could not do enough fo us, lovely night sat chatting till gone 1.0'clock so easy going and enjoyable cannot praise the owner enough such a charming lad!

We attended the SS8 on Canvey Island last Saturday and was really looking forward to a great evening with our friends. We were in a party of 12 and as there was another large party that evening we were asked to pre-order our meal before the day (not too keen on this as I like to make up my mind on the day). We were the first party to sit down and be served our meal and you would think that having prior notice of the meal and being first up everything would be perfect, not so!! To be fare the starters were actually quite nice and we all enjoyed them however they brought us 2 bread baskets and both had to be sent back as the bread was very dry (almost like toast). The problems came with the main courses. Out of 12 meals only 3 were found to be acceptable. The meals came served up complete with vegetables and on 2 of the meals they had actually forgotten to put on the potatoes. My duck was very dry and no taste and the skin was so tuff I had a job to cut it, one of my friends experienced the same. 9 of our meals were served up with only just warm vegetables. After the meal we retired to the cocktail bar for coffee and drinks but found the music was so loud we couldn’t talk to each other, we did ask for it to be turned down but nothing happened. Altogether we had a good night with our friends but were very disappointed with the meal. We will not be returning.

Went there for my Birthday, had an amazing meal, and what I liked the most was that you were seated in the Lounge area, (cocktail served there) plenty of very comfee sofas and were given menus and made you choice there called to your table once your starter was nearly ready so could relax and chat in an nice area. The restaurant itself was beautiful, will definitely be going back. The one downside was that we did have to wait about 20 mins for our main course, but well worth the wait.

Excellent service and great food for the meat eaters in our party however as a vegetarian I found the vegetarian options very limited in fact one choice only on starter menu & one choice on main menu (personally not keen on asparagus) although I had contacted them beforehand to inform them that I was a vegetarian. Would have been nice to have had more choice.

Came here for a meal with my partner,we were seated in the lovely lounge area which has ample comfy couches waited on from the moment we stepped in the door the eating area is layed out with plenty of room between tables. Food is amazing excellent portion sizes great value. Staff are so well organised,helpful and friendly must mention Alex who is so polite and friendly greets everyone and makes you feel so welcome very relaxed atmosphere a truly great place to eat and drink

This comfortable relaxing lounge boasts loads of leather chesterfield sofa's and tables and outstanding canvas prints decorating the walls. The bars coloured lighting effect makes this very ultra modern and you get such a lovely welcome from George who runs a great bar. You are best to prebook your table for sunday roast as it always seems to be fully booked but Alex who manages SS8 lounge always goes out of his way to fit us in. The meals are like al a carte and you can get 2 courses for £12.50, excellent value. Thursday night is Steak night dining for 2 with bottle of wine for £25. Cannot rate this establishment highly enough.

I have eaten in this restaurant a number of times now and I never had a bad meal. This restaurant is a organised establishment. And the staff are a credit to the managementI've never had a bad meal and I've eaten here at less 15 times now, the prices are reasonable and plenty of choice. I would recommend booking as this restaurant as its now often full. Great atmosphere for cocktails as well. Worth a visit

I've been to ss8 many times , I'm always greeted by polite staff , such a lovely relaxin atmosphere , food is absolutely Amazin honestly one of the best places I've eaten ,plus the cocktails are lush , can't wait for my next visit in February

The food was impeccable! Quite possibly one of the finest Beef Wellingtons I've ever eaten! The bar is fully stocked and has an excellent selection of spirits (my wife likes Gin and I enjoy a nice Whiskey). The staff were friendly and attentive and the chef has a real attention to detail.I would highly recommend!

I have tried to visit SS8 Lounge multiple times and found myself refused entry. For example, this evening at 1am the doorman did not allow my party of 5 to enter the venue - despite your social media (and local signage) advertising a 3am close. The first occasion I was denied entry I was told that this was due to reaching capacity however my friends inside the venue had told me that the bar was empty and subsequently we were allowed entry through the fellow customers. Tonight we were told the same despite 6 people leaving the venue as we discussed with the doorman. It really threw a spanner in our plans and it's a shame that our custom was not appreciated, I'm sure this is not something the bar owners would be pleased to hear either.

We booked a Christmas meal for our group of 11 ladies at the begining of December & what a terrific evening we all had. Alex, the manager went that extra mile for us, ensuring that our evening went smoothly & the waiting staff were so helpful & couldn't do enough for us. The three course meal we had ordered was of the very best quality, full of flavour & beautifully presented in fact we all agreed that it was the best Christmas meal we had ever had in a resturant, many thanks to the Chef.We are all telling our friends about the SS8 Lounge, the fabulous food, the unstuffy but smart atmosphere & of course the cocktails.Our thanks to Alex & his staff for our memorable evening

We came here in December when they had a Christmas menu. A choice of roast meats and other options including the usual menu. The food was exquisite and plentiful. It was also very reasonably priced. Staff were helpful and friendly. The bat also stock a selection of cocktails, spirits & beers. This was my first visit here but I am sure to cone again and recommend the place to all my friends.

Went along to the SS8 Lounge for Sunday lunch, wow what a lovely meal, generous portions and a great atmosphere really can't fault the whole experience

We had another lovely Sunday Lunch yesterday. The starter was very tasty and the main meal was delicious. The only down side was the dessert. Even though it was nice the size of the portions has decreased dramatically which was a big disappointment.

My partner and I took advantage of their Thursday night meal deal (Two steaks and a bottle of wine for £25).The bar area has a fantastic atmosphere with comfortable seating, table service, so no waiting at the bar.The staff call you to your table when your food is ready, the steaks were cooked to perfection and the portions of chips and vegetables were so large it was hard to finish the meal. The wine was house wine, but was a delicious red Merlot.For an evening that only cost £35 (£25 dinner, £10 for two cocktails) for two was just fantastic value.We will definitely go back, but not just for the Thursday night special, it really was that good.

We recently visited this restaurant with high hopes of the food but was completely disappointed!!We was not asked how we wanted the steak cooked, when I came out the steak was so dry and inedible.. couldn't even wash it down with water.It seemed like they had triple cooked the steak instead of the chips and to our disappointment no compensation was given... still charged at full price. Terrible!

Such a lovely lounge / restaurant with very attentive staff, excellent food and cocktails! Cannot fault it and will be coming back to try some more of the menu! Pig's cheeks were amazing!!! Don't understand how it was so quiet for a Friday night though...people you are missing out if you don't try it! !

Have eaten here on numerous occasions. Staff are amazing , attentive and friendly. Cannot fault food quality and presentation. Sunday lunch has to be tried. Cocktails served at the bar where you can relax in their leather chestetfied chairs. As a family we love it and every friend we have taken has been really impressed.

Been here lots of times and never had a bad meal. Always fresh and hot with generous portions. Very comfortable surroundings with leather chesterfields to sit and have some pre dinner drinks. Excellent service by, Alex, George and staff and first class chefs. Just remember to pay for the carpark before going in, you don't want a fantastic evening spoilt by a private eye carpark camera.

Went there for a celebration anniversary meal. We was congratulated by the manager who gave us a free glass of bubbly. The décor is 1st class, the food is lovely and the service second to non. The waiter was very attentive. Only 1 criticism was the soup was very nice but too spicy, it was over powering, If I'd of eat it all it would of left my mouth with a very strong taste of chilli and pepper, so spoiling the flavour of my main meal. The bill was reasonable for the amount of food and good service we had.I thoroughly recommend trying it.

Pleasant surroundings and a manager/owner who is clearly driven and passionate about the restaurant. Delicious cocktails and excellent service. We went on steak night and was surprised to find meats not usually available like Zebra! We'll be back!

Went here on Friday (21st) for a meal with my husband, was lovely again... We enjoyed it that much that we came again to try the Sunday Lunch! (23rd) That was very good too, the gravy tasted really nice along with the beef we both had...Already re-booked again for Sunday 13th! :-)

Had a lovely Ribeye steak here, all the trimmings, cooked to our liking, the price was excellent too:- £25 with bottle of wine for 2 people, definitely go back, oh! and the cocktails were lush

We went with a friend who assured us the place was excellent and boy, did it live up to his enthusiastic description. The starters were delicious and more than generous, in fact after I had finished those I was worried about being able to eat the main course, which was the best stteak I have ever had but again very large - I had to take some home in a doggy bag! I somehow managed a superb desert - a Black Forest Creme Brulee - gorgeous. Put all this with a lovely wine and we all had a superb evening. We'll be back.

We received a warm greeting when we entered the restaurant, and the evening got better as we were ushered to comfortable chesterfield settees and invited to order our first drinks.After choosing our starters and mains we all agreed that the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed.Once seated at our table the starters were enthusiastically received and enjoyed and then followed by excellent mains cooked just as ordered.We four chose fillet steak and all agreed that the quality and presentation was superb!The desserts that followed maintained the high standard that was set.We chose a Shiraz to accompany our steaks and that also was a credit to the cellar manager who produced a smooth tasteful wine that we all enjoyed.This is my second visit to SS8 Restaurant and I am looking forward to my next visit!

We have become regular visitor to SS8 for our Sunday lunch, it is a fantastic venue, comfortable sitting area to wait while ordering your meal or to have drinks afterwards.

We had a fabulous Sunday roast there and wanted to try it again for an evening meal. This too was really lovely with attentive staff, great choices on the menu and reasonably priced. Everything was cooked and presented beautifully, we are so lucky to have this restaurant within walking distance, we will definately become regulars

Never been here before, so thought we would give it a try, it didn't disappoint! Great atmosphere, my steak and chips went down a treat and so did the cocktail I had afterwards in the very comfy lounge area! I will be coming back, plus I've spread the word to my friends/family.

Went here for the first time on Mothers Day and was so impressed with the food and service and drink. Been back many other times since and love this place.

Booked a Saturday night meal for two to celebrate our wedding anniversary. First impressions were very good and I enjoyed a cocktail in the bar before our meal. I really like the way that you can relax in the bar and choose your meal before going through to sit down when your starter is ready. The food was delicious, well cooked and served on hot plates. The only disappointment was when we checked our receipt on arriving home and realised we had been charged twice for one of our drinks. However, on calling the restaurant and speaking to the owner, he apologised and offered us a free drink on our next visit, so all good. Will definitely be returning.

Have eaten Sunday lunch at this restaurant twice now. Both times the food has been excellent. Staff were very helpful.

Have visited twice for dinner and drinks and was very impressed. The Turkish barman makes the best cocktails based on your preferred style and taste. The bar has lots of comfy areas to sit and enjoy a drink and can order your food before going to the restaurant. Fine dining menu which changes often. Lovely meal and good service. Will return.

After hearing a fair amount of good things about SS8 we decided on a whim to try it out. I called and arranged a booking for that afternoon without any fuss.We arrived and the decor was neutral and tidy, the staff very welcoming and friendly. We were offered drinks at the bar or our table, we chose the latter and ordered some wine (rose zinfandel) and very tasty it was too.We picked from the Sunday Lunch menu (1,2,or 3 course), and started with a prawn cocktail and a smoked duck breast, both of which was devoured with much gusto, it is hard to get a prawn cocktail wrong, and even harder to get it to a point where it delicious, and we are happy to report the latter was the case, very tasty prawns and the sauce was spot on (not out of a jar and you can tell!), The smoked duck was also `good` from my youngest and for him that's about as close to great as it gets.The roasts were superb, tasty fresh veg cooked perfectly, the meat was generous and sliced to a decent thickness and the gravy was mmmm mmmm mmmm.Afters were a ice cream and brownie and a chocolate marquise both were again super and tasty.Staff were great and attentive and it seemed nothing was too much trouble.All in all what a gem of a place to find, cant wait for the next visit, and I cant recommend SS8 enough, give it a try you wont be disappointed.Super sunday lunch.
