We enjoyed ciabatta and prawn sandwiches . Chips good too. Coffee fine , Understaffed cafe but service ok plus. Quite good quality. Popular place. Plenty of parking caused us to dine at Squires rather than a Woking town restaurant.

Going downhill….been coming here for years but this visit was the last nail in the coffin! Smaller sausage, smaller rasher of bacon, smaller egg, rock hard slice of cold fried bread probably left over from yesterday. Then when we wanted yo pay, frantically waving and being ignored, headed to till and stood around for 10 minutes despite there being someone behind the counter who completely ignored us… apalling post meal service. Looked like there was less staff in there too….

A busy , comfortable cafe offering a wide menu. We had fish and chips, prawn salad, beefburger, staffed jacket potatoes, cakes and ice cream All good without being outstanding. Service generally good but sometimes without a smile. Good value for money. Parking easy.

This was one of the nicest places we had lunch in the Woking area. The food was freshly prepared (not pre-made and wrapped in plastic) the staff were friendly and helpful, and they had lots of free-from and allergy info that helped our choices.

Did not believe the reviews until we tried for ourselves, well the mushroom soup was poor and had a skin over it, the Welsh rarebit was was undercooked and soggy, for the price you pay I would expect better and the service was slow probably understaffed.

A regular destination for an afternoon drink and cake with my son ... however yesterday's visit was pretty miserable. About 4pm on sat - cafe closes at 5... took a while to be greeted ... then took ages to have order taken - had to ask 2 different staff ... was only a cold Drink and a cake and we were sat right by the counter. Took 20 minutes for order to arrive (!). Then 5 minutes after receiving order someone else turns up and interrupts us (now about 5.35) to take our money whilst I was clearly midway through a game with my son. Awful service, and it wasn't even busy! Added to that one of the older staff was being very rude about a younger staff member to someone else clearly within customer ear shot. Wouldn't want to work there and certainly won't be returning, which is a shame as used to like it. Very expensive now too....

I am very sad to be writing this. I come to the cafe with Amber, my poodle about once a week for breakfast and up to now have always loved it. People serving me have always been very friendly and the food good. Today I was unable to experience either. I went to the entrance of the cafe and saw a gentleman serving, I think he is the assistant manager and I see him most weeks. I motioned to him that I would go round to the outside part of the cafe as I have got a dog and he showed he had seen this, I went and sat down and waited, nobody came so I went and knocked on the window and tried to open the door but it wouldn't open, it wasn't busy inside I saw him walking around but there was only a few tables occupied. I am disabled and cannot stand for long so I went and sat down and waited again., After waiting for over 15 minutes with no-one taking any notice of us I and Amber left we were both very upset as we were looking forward to our breakfast. We look forward to this as we cannot get out a lot. Not sure if we will be back.

We went to squires for lunch, we were met with a very rude waiter who took us to a table, after twenty minutes he returns to take our order only to be told there was almost nothing left on the menu apart from a sandwich, had we known this we would have left and gone elsewhere, although we were polite and did not make a fuss. His attitude was really rude and unfriendly through out the whole experience, our fries were stone cold, as was the soup and onion rings and a sandwich was missed from the order. We sent the fries and onion rings back to be reheated but again were friendly, however the waiter was just Stoney faced, sullen and rude. Not a good representation for the garden centre and a wasted uncomfortable experience / money for us. Real shame.

This has got to be the worst place we have been for breakfast! After ordering the food it was delivered to the table within minutes, some may say that's a good thing, but it was clear it had been sat on a hot plate! The beans were awful! I had a poached egg that was Stone cold!! It was replaced by a fresh hot one, however, the rest of the food was then cold!! Black pudding was dry, sausage was over cooked on one side, hash Brown's were also over cooked! My husband LARGE coffee was served is a cup not much bigger than an egg cup!! Very Very disappointed! They need to stick to selling plants!!!

I don't normally do reviews but the recent experience of this restaurant was so appalling I feel compelled to do so: Having visited previously and enjoyed our food we thought we would have a quick break whilst Christmas shopping. Waited 40 minutes for our meal before enquiring how much longer it would be only to be told that the order had not been processed and the kitchen was closed. The sadest part was that of all the many staff present not one noticed that we were without food. In fact most of the staff were doing very little if anything. To add insult to injury we were offered a free cake and even had to chase that up as that was forgotten about too! Needless to say we won't be going back there again. And Squires, if you're reading, you need to sort out the calibre of staff you employ (with the exception of one kind lady)!

Cold space, food poor. Served the tiniest baked potato I have ever had in a cafe. Poor choices as many things not available. Mouldy cheese served. Glasses not that clean. Poor experience and although lots of staff all seems to be controlled by one inefficient manager. Give it a wide birth.

We booked Christmas lunch a few weeks beforehand. We often visit for cake and coffee and the staff seem to remember us . Tables dry with a cracker and paper napkins. Starter for both was prawn cocktail fresh with avocado and leaves The turkey lunch was fabulous, very hot and tasty with all the trimmings. Portions were huge. Served by Heather who was lovely . My husband ordered Xmas pudding with brandy sauce and I had berry cheesecake with ice cream and the Supervisor , Karen was kind enough to wrap it up to take home as I was too full to eat it . Disappointing to read so many negative reviews. The only minor problem was that it was chilly in the restaurant and a few of us needed to keep our coats on. Compliments to the Chefs and the whole team .

A busy cafe on a Saturday morning. Glad we had booked. We enjoyed the flexible menu items and were pleased with the cooked breakfasts { though could have been hotter} and coffee. Good value too. Service efficient and friendly. The cafe felt cold though......many kept their coats on. So good but not without weaknesses, Comfortable seating and good atmosphere. Certainly better organised than at another location of Squires.

We decided it would be nice to go for lunch, then have a browse round the garden centre as it was my mum's 91st birthday. We pre booked lunch and when we arrived were seated promptly. Then sat there for 20 minutes with waiting staff completely ignoring us. Finally we went to the counter, only to be told it's table service. By this time we saw that others arriving after us were being served so my husband approached a waitress and asked if we could order our food. She was very abrupt and kept us waiting a few more minutes before she came over. Rather rude in her attitude when telling one of our group that the meal she ordered was off the menu. Surely a simple "Sorry, that's off this lunchtime" would suffice? The food was delicious but again we were totally ignored and had to chase up the bill after sitting there a further 20 minutes (this time we sat there just to see if anybody came over) Shocking service and one rude member of staff. Either more staff needed or more efficient staff needed. The 2 stars was for the food which as I say was delicious.

We have just had brunch here and are all so very cold despite sitting an eating in coats. We asked to be moved to a possibly warmer location and were treated very rudely (despite booking over 3 weeks ago) and were told that they could not ,or rather, would not do so. Hot drinks and brunch were ordered within 30minutes of us sitting down and arrived 30-40minutes later. We then sat for another 90minutes and had no opportunity to order another tea/coffee and to add insult to injury, the empty plates sat there this entire time!! This is our last visit here as it has been getting progressively worse and this was the last straw.

When I order a coffee and toast I expect it to arrive at about the same time. So why does this not happen at Squires? After half an hour, on several occasions, I have had to ask if my coffee has been forgotten because by then I have eaten the toast! There does not seem to be enough coffee machines and with only one member of staff preparing the orders it's no wonder there's a delay. The waitresses who take the orders and clear tables work their socks off. The delay lets this place down.

I’ve visited Squires many times before and always enjoyed their good quality, reasonably priced breakfast. However, today some friends and I visited for the first time since lockdown and were not impressed. The staff were friendly as usual but the ordering app was clunky and difficult to use. We would rather have ordered from a human as before. There were also errors/ omissions when the food arrived. I suppose this was acceptable given the circumstances, but less acceptable was the clear increase in prices from last time we visited. For example, the only “self select” breakfast option was for 6 items at £7.95. I’m pretty sure that the 9 item option offered previously was no more than this. If you want to add extra items, it’s £1.50 each, so the cost mounts quickly. Ok, after the government discount the bill was still cheap, but we felt that the cafe was exploiting this to raise their prices. Not on. We will be breakfasting at one of the many alternatives next time.

Three friends and I visited this cafe today. It had changed since the lock down and not for the better. We had to book a table on line for coffee, and when we were seated we found it was contactless ordering only. The previous selection of cakes was missing, and the waitress seemed terrified to speak to us, everything supposedly having to be done on line. Apparently the idea is that the restaurant will be used for breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas, and not really for coffees. There is a new company in charge of catering. We did not feel as welcome as we did before and found this new technology difficult. We don't feel we shall be back, which is a shame as the garden centre was lovely. But having an easy cup of coffee is part of the experience and this was not easy!

The breakfasts here are lovely, especially as you can order pretty much what you like - 6 or 9 items from a list of good quality sausages, bacon, eggs (cooked how you choose), mushrooms etc - or a la carte, such as eggs benedict. It does get busy, but there is plenty of seating and they work hard to seat everyone if there’s a queue building. My only complaint, and the reason I didn’t score higher, is that once you’ve been served your breakfast you’re frequently forgotten. We visit most weeks and, whether with friends or just the 2 of us, in busy and quiet times, try as I might I have never been able to catch a waiter to order more drinks or just request our bill. Often we give up on another round of coffees and go to the till to settle the bill ourselves. I’ve come to accept that’s the way it is, but find it strange that they’re happy to leave us chatting for ages without at least trying to sell us more drinks (as much as we appreciate being left in peace). The staff are really lovely too - it just seems that upselling isn’t a thing at Squires.

I often meet friends there as convenient for them and the cakes are usually excellent (unlike many garden centres which only tend to do scones and traybakes); the service is generally poor, but on this occasion abysmal. Told to find our own table, waiting 15 minutes then having to ask to be served (apparently our fault for "hiding" at one of 3 occupied tables in the area), 20 minute wait for 2 cream teas (which came without milk), table cleared whilst still drinking tea then after 30 minutes (it was so tempting just to walk out) having to go to a till to pay because no one came with a bill. Then an extremely rude young man told us if we'd wanted to pay we should have asked (we would have if anyone had come near us). Though we had disturbed his chat with an ex or off duty colleague who was standing near the counter chatting with other staff members. When it first opened we were told it was teething problems/training issues, what's their excuse now?

They do such a good breakfast! Got there just before opening and there was a queue outside of people all waiting to head straight to the Café.

Since the refurbishment this has become a firm favourite especially on a sunny day and you can sit outside.Friendly accommodating staff, reasonable menu and love waitress service in a Garden Centre. Food isn't always top notch, but any problems quickly sorted.

Not visited this garden centre since it’s refurbishment and have to say overall there’s a vast improvement. Met with family on a busy Saturday morning but didn’t have to queue long to be shown to a vacant table. Breakfast menu’s not extensive (daughter certainly rated her Eggs Benedict) but you can also order cakes/scones etc. Impressed with the range of teas on offer (loose and bags), especially as they had my preferred choice (natural Rooibos). They also provide a good kiddies play pack which keeps little ones occupied for a while. Decor is light and bright plus all staff were friendly and provided quick table service. Prices are about what you’d expect for the area (eg, 9 item breakfast = £6.95 but doesn’t include a drink).

Well set out and spacious cafe. Staff were very friendly, but vegan choices surprisingly poor. Could not offer me any soup or sandwiches, just 2 main meal choices. Sadly won't be returning unless they improve their vegan choices.

Used this as a good mid-way place to meet family. It has a lively and relaxed atmosphere with lovely looking cakes and food as well as friendly, helpful service. The garden centre is good too !: Lots of interesting, slightly unusual goodies for sale as well as well-cared for plants.

I visited the restaurant twice last week and was pleased that the level of service on both occasions had significantly improved. The quality of the food and drinks had never been a problem, but on visits last summer and autumn the service was appalling. It could take 30 minutes or more for my order to arrive with no explanation or apology. That issue now seems to have been addressed. My order arrived within 5 minutes and the staff were helpful and friendly. Hope this can be maintained because the restaurant is now up to the same level as this excellent garden centre.

Apart from the main horticultural attration that draws a wealth of diverse visitor, Squires Cafe bar equally boasts a fair number of bird wildlife and tree mammals to its outdoor refreshment facilities in the winter and spring months.

Our meal yesterday was excellent. 2 or us had the special pie of the day which was very tasty and piping hot and well presented. The other guest had steak sandwich which also very nice. The service was also great.

Most afternoons I meet up with a friend for "coffee, cake and a gossip". The new cafe bar area and outside space is comfortable, light and airy and nicely furnished. We have always had a good experience and the staff are polite and chatty. There is a good selection of cakes and I can recommend the toasted tea cakes and the friut tarts. We are looking forward to the nicer weather so we can sit outside in the sun again.

My partner and I visited the newly refurbished restaurant last weekend and was very impressed. On arrival we was told that they didn’t have any Roast dinners left although we only came in for a light lunch anyway. We were so impressed with the staff, they were all so hard working and I observed a number of times staff going the extra mile to make sure the restaurant was clean and presentable. The food was lovely although we waited a while for it. The only two things have made my mark lower than it should be is, the toilets are very messy which was a surprise given how clean the restaurant is and the only other thing I noticed was the manager, he seem to be doing more laps of the restaurant doing nothing than anything else! The waiters and waitresses are definitely the reason that this restaurant is so good.

We just wanted coffee and gave up after 20 minutes! On complaining to the manager he informed us that Squire's Knaphill Cafe Bar was in fact a restaurant and not a cafe! We indicated the large notice outside the front of the building and he said yes, it needed re-branding. He also said people come here for a meal - breakfast or lunch - and we shouldn't come here just for coffee/tea!!! All other Squires garden centres we have visited, signposted as a cafe bar, we simply line up at the counter and get your order and pay. At Knaphill we have to wait to be seated, wait to have our order taken, wait for the food (!) to arrive, wait to get your bill and wait to pay. Also, drinks do not necessarily appear at the same time as the food - which means you have either cold food or cold drinks!! If the powers that be at Squires want to turn this into a high end restaurant (it is a garden centre!!) then please, please, please signpost it as such, or have a separate facility for anyone just wanting a drink and a slice of cake! We will NOT be returning to Knaphill Squires and will inform anyone who asks us, not to expect there to be a cafe at the location!

Visited the newly refurbished squires cafe for breakfast. Although very reasonably priced it was not a particularly nice full english breakfast. The place was packed but it was not a very pleasant environment either. Will not eat there again.

Never been to a garden centre to which it felt pretentious, no need to have some fella at the front desk thinking his Fred out of first dates , it’s a garden cafe!!! Full table service/and escorted to your seat isn’t required in a cafe..

Kids running it and swearing too busy speaking about their personal life. And lack of smiley face and food was just slummed in the boxes no effort what so ever! Bad all over!
