Pizzas are delicious. Recommended by a friend and not disappointed. Gourmet pizza at its finest. Staff friendly and knowledgeable and nice atmosphere while we waited. Already booked to go back for dine in experience.

Great slices of pizza and some great flavours. How ever me prepared for the grease and the crazy amounts of sauce it's the one place I think needs to cut it back a little. Still great although I'd like to see some drinks on draft.

Had the pleasure recently of trying this excellent pizza shop and was impressed. First off, the pizza is top notch - some of the best I’ve had in the UK. The ingredients are obviously premium, and these guys take their craft seriously. Secondly, the service, the chill vibe, and the attention to detail make it on par with many NYC pizza shops I’ve encountered over the years. Well done Square! I’ll be back next time I’m in the Toon!

Had lunch as Square pizza today and it was incredible! The staff, Amy and Jess, were so friendly and helpful. I will definitely be returning soon and would recommend to anyone!

They are true experts in Detroit-style pizza – the crispy, caramelized edges and pillowy, flavorful base were spot on. The toppings were fresh, perfectly balanced, and packed with flavor. The vibe in the place was welcoming, and the staff clearly know their craft. Whether you’re a pizza aficionado or just looking for a great meal, Square Pizza is a must-visit. Hands down the best Detroit-style pizza in Newcastle – I’ll definitely be back for more!

The service I received from Jess and Amy today was second to none. Both very enthusiastic about the buisness and provided a lovely atmosphere, I will 100% be returning because of these two and the immaculate food. Would recommend to anyone.

A complete gem! I’ve never had pizza like this anywhere else, the crust is flipping delicious and the whole range of toppings are brilliant. The candied jalapeño dip is a must too. The team are all lush as well, 100% recommend

I came to square whilst visiting Newcastle and to say I was blown away was an understatement! The food was delicious and the kind welcoming service I received from Jess and Toby was fantastic. If I find myself in Newcastle again I will definitely be coming back

I visit Square regularly with my partner as this is our favourite pizza place, we always pop in when we’re in town or order it for delivery. Our go to slices/full pizzas are the red top and Chicky parm they’re so delicious, the best Detroit style pizza in Newcastle. There is also a fantastic selection to choose from so there is something for everyone! we wouldn’t go anywhere else! Jess and the staff are always so lovely and helpful everytime we pop in.

As a Canadian who has actually had Detroit style pizza in Detroit, I was thoroughly satisfied and impressed (I had the classic red top slice with candied jalapeño mayo). Staff were super friendly and I’d definitely come back.

I recently tried Detroit-style pizza at Square in Newcastle and it was amazing! The crust had the perfect crispy edges, and the cheese-to-sauce ratio was spot on .The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy. If you’re in Newcastle it’s definitely worth a try!

Food was a bit disappointing if I’m honest especially regarding the price and when compared to past quality ( I have been a customer for many years ) and normally throughly enjoy your product however on this occasion quality was not reflected in the product - pretty disappointing.

The food took 2 hours to arrive even though it said it would take 30-45 minutes. therefore the food was freezing and even warming it up in the microwave did not make it warm at all. The delivery driver was very inappropriate with me as well and was very adamant in trying to get me to come downstairs even though my flatmate answered the door and had the code. He called me “sexy” which made me very uncomfortable

Cosy and casual place for pizza. I usually prefer thin and crispy pizza but my mind was changed after trying here I'm converted! Staff were really friendly too will definitely return.

What a welcome! Just the most lovely service. Had the Monday lunchtime offer £9.85 for a square (I had the Hey Pesto) with waffle fries and garlic aoli and a drink. Perfect pizza!

Hands down the best pizza I've ever had, made even better by the truly excellent team that make this pizza parlour what it is; an authentic hidden gem. If you're looking for the best pizza in Newcastle, you've found it! You'll miss out if you don't get the Candied Jalapeno Dip with any of the slices (although a whole pie is the way to go).

Popped in here after a few beers in town. What a great choice. The best snack pizza and fries I've had in ages. Really hit the spot. All the lads enjoyed a slice or two. Not worth the hype. Basically fancy Bruschetta passing itself off as Pizza. Ordered two slices and what minimal cheese there was ended up burnt round the edges, not nice when you wait 15 minutes for it to be “fresh” . All the toppings were too overpowering, ended up leaving most of it.

Amazing pizza and amazing staff. We were going to take a picture of the whole pizza but it was too damn good. Also not as overpriced as you’d imagine, very reasonable for a group.

Food is actually very good but I'm not sure it's very healthy. Price is ok. I like the idea and vibe. Carry on with the good work guys.

I wasn’t expecting much when I tried this because I usually don’t like this style of pizza but wow was I surprised!! It’s so thick but so soft and all the different flavours are amazing, the sauce on the pep talk is just out of this world. If you love this style of pizza you will not be disappointed.

The only place in Newcastle that serves Detroit style pizza. I can’t attest to the authenticity but it’s great food and a nice location.

It was our first time at square and we were not disappointed at all! The staff were so accommodating and friendly, big up to the server helping us out today - also the food was absolutely amazing! Waffle fries and the pizza all freshly cooked and so crispy, could not have asked for anything more. Will be back!

Went for restaurant week the deals were better on house was quiet when we got there had a wait for the vegan option but all in all good

On the way to the museum we went in to eat something, the place is small with some places to eat at the counter. We ordered a pizza and some bread with cheese and garlic. They were delicious and the price was acceptable.

My girlfriend and I were out for a date night dinner. We thought we’d try some authentic Chicago style pizza (where the cheese is under the sauce). We were greeted by the most friendly staff you could ask for! They were so helpful with allergies and anything we asked! Alas! Our pizza came, but it was evidently pre cooked and heated up for service. The hot honey and ranch dipping sauce was amazing. However the pizzas were a slight let down, compared to social media advertising. The sweet potato fries were cooked to perfection. The waffle truffle fries however, lacked in some flavour. Overall, we had a positive experience, although the food was presented well, flavours weren’t so prominent.

Probably the best pizza I have ever had, we had a selection of 4 different slices, along with the truffle and Parmesan waffle fries and they were all equally great but I would say the Clancy wiggum was my favourite. Staff were extremely friendly and were really helpful which made for a great experience.

The slices were great and our favourite was the bada bing. Never tried Detroit style pizza before so not sure how authentic it is- the pizza's base was similar to that of a focaccia. We went towards the end of the day so the slices were reheated, perhaps fresher ones would have been a lot better or if you go when there's no fresh pies being made perhaps ordering a full pie will be better? The slices were saucy enough so did not really need any additional sauce, the marinara sauce they came with was an amazing combo. We got the candied jalapeno mayo and it was more candy than jalapeno. I think more sour/spicy sauces on the menu cut through the richness of the pizza and complement the slices better. Think it's a great and convenient lunch spot!

Service 10/10 so friendly! Food was amazing and really good portion sizes, with delicious toppings Super reasonably priced for what we got! Can’t wait to try different options :)

Amazing pizza, definitely recommend. I got the red top and my partner got the bada bing and we shared the garlic bread. They were all unreal, and the garlic sauce is to die for too. They were cooked fresh and were a reasonable price for the quality. Service was good and the inside is small but nice and modern. We went at 12:30 on a Thursday and it was pretty quiet so we managed to get a seat.

Really nice original pizzas, great variety of options and ingredients. The restaurant is located in city centre next to other pubs, restaurants and shops. The staff is very professional. 100% recommended

Great Detroit style pizzas. The flavours are amazing, and some of the best pizzas I've had for a long time. Staff were friendly and welcoming. It's worth noting that this is a small place with limited oven space, so good things come to those who wait. Also, seating is stools around the edge of the small but busy counter. Don't let this put you off, though, as the food is top-notch.

Amazing pizza, tasted absolutely incredible and one of the best things I've ever tasted. Shared a whole one between two adults and two children with some sides. Worked out great value. Would definitely come again.

Great tasting Detroit-style pizza. Delicious and generously topped pies with crispy, caramelised, cheesy edges. We tried the Bada Bing which was great if you like some chilli heat and the Clancy Wiggum, both really flavourful. I would certainly recommend a visit

Ordering online was easy, though I wish there were more options. When I arrived, unfortunately there was a technical error which prevented the restauranteur receiving the order, so unfortunately I had to wait 10 minutes to receive my order. However, they offered a free drink and prompt service to make up for it. The pizza had a good coating of spices and garlic, and meaty pepperoni, with the ricotta cheese being an interesting touch. The bread had a crispy base with a soft middle. The red sauce is a little too thick for my liking and I would like more mozzarella for more stringy cheese.

Best pizza of my life. Honestly will be chasing the high of this forever. It’s made it to my off menu lineup.

This is legit the best pizza we have had in a long time. The crunch of the crust, the quality of the toppings… incredible. So incredibly filling and a must-try for anyone who is curious about Detroit-style pizza.

Visited for lunch the day after the bank holiday weekend. Opened for me and my wife despite having limited food left on the menu. Pizza was amazing, only place I’ve eaten that tastes like proper USA pizza pie. Ingredients were so fresh and tasty. Will definitely be back.

First time trying this establishment. Staff were lovely and really helpful, with plenty of menus so you can take your time and ponder without feeling pressured. There is an awesome selection of food and drink available. The I terror is lovely and it is in a prime location, would highly recommend to anyone to give it ago.

First time trying Square and it didn’t disappoint. Me and my mate opted to share a half and half pie and it was one of the tastiest things i’ve ate. You get 3 slices each on the sharer pies which is more than enough as the slices are really filling. The food did take a little while to come out but it was busy to be fair to them. I will agree with a previous review and say although it’s a cool little place, it’s not the comfiest place to sit and eat so i’d probably take out next time.

If I had to choose my last meal on earth it would be the veg-a-squarian full pie, never tasted anything like it, definitely the best pizza I’ve ever had and some of the best food I’ve ever had🤍

I visited here for dining in yesterday and the food was absolutely incredible. The pizza was fantastic and such good value for money. I would 100% return but not to dine in as it's too uncomfortable. I did not like the seating arrangements. The stools are very uncomfortable and there isn't much space to sit. However, staff were super friendly despite how busy it was and there were constant takeaways and delivery drivers.

Absolutely incredible. Had the pesto monthly special and it was so delicious. Especially the hot honey. Fries were decent, but like not really the main attraction for me. Pizza was so filling didn't really need them but still nice.

The food here was phenomenal, we had the chicky chicky parm parm pizza, pep talk and the garlic slices. we also tried their cookie which tasted beautiful. The staff members who served us was lovely and he was very friendly and explained everything to us. the only problem we had was with the cleanliness. we were the first to arrive before opening so i suspect the place wasn’t cleaned properly before hand, i have included some photos of the bathroom and the table.

Visited during restaurant week in January with my partner and thoroughly enjoyed our pizza. We both generally prefer a thin crust pizza, but Square pizzas are on a whole different level for deep dish! The dough is thick but light, toppings are flavoursome and the crispy cheese around the edges, for me, is the best part. Perfect for dunking in the excellent selection of dips. The staff were super friendly and while the food took about 25 mins or so to arrive, it was worth the wait. Will be going back!

Excellent venue serving THE BEST deep dish pizzas, either by the slice or the whole pie. The dough is beautifully light, yet filling and the toppings on the 'Pep Talk' compliment each other perfectly! Try the Ranch dressing too, perfect for dipping that amazing cheesy crust in. One slice is perfect for you, lunch or pre theatre or drinks, a full pie (as the menu states) will easily be enough for 3-4 hungry folks. Excellent quality ingredients, great service and the pizzas are amazing, the prices are excellent too, I've taken a photo of the menu. 10/10.

Popped in yesterday, we had pizza, dip, drink & lattis chips all for £8 each. Absolutely delicious, thick pizza, fresh ingredients, very substantial meal, we were very happy, staff were lovely too and very attentive . Will definitely be back & have already told friends.

Whilst herbally refreshed and very hungry, ordering takeaway food in the digital age can very easily be exciting , confusing, frustrating and incredibly rewarding all at the same time, and so it proved on this fateful Saturday. After delegating one of our number to 'just choose something, anything' we settled on the delights of FEDs chicken emporium. The promise of tea brined fried chicken in a bun with a hash brown and american cheese proved too much temptation to resist. Two of our group made their choice pretty quickly and we passed the digital chicken portal along to the third and least decisive. A debate ensued regarding the volume and variety of side dishes required with our order which was eventually resolved by proceeding with the highest estimate of consumption. On confirming our order with the digital chicken portal, disaster struck. In our zeal to perfect and finesse our order, we had missed the deadline for ordering and the kitchen was closed! A wailing and a gnashing of teeth ensued. Apologies and commiserations were exchanged. Heads were shaken in disbelief. We gathered our wits and forged on with our mission. We would not be denied. The digital chicken portal was redeployed and repurposed, and on our next roll of the dice we alighted on the delivery menu for Square. A consensus was reached. a whole pizza, half and half with some waffle fries, and enough dips to banish the sad memories of the fried chicken that never was. We placed our order. Sucess! Our groaning bellies would soon be filled. After a period of anxious waiting with several checks to ensure that our order had been successful and would soon arrive, we were rewarded by the sound of the doorbell. We laid the table for dinner and began our meal. On first glance, we were confused. Had we accidentally been delivered some piece of conceptual art in a well designed cardboard box? Had the Baltic started to dispatch prints from its shop on Deliveroo? If this was indeed the promised pizza, it was a far cry from the kebab meat and pepperoni offerings of our younger days. The base was completely invisible beneath the mountains of vibrant and plentiful toppings. Roses of an ethereal white substance blossomed in regular patterns on the surface, each lovingly spinkled with a lusty red coating of chilli flakes. A delicate chiffonade of herbs brought natural colour, balance and an impression of some nutritional value. At this point it would have been easy to become lost in blissful reverie, but the imperative that had carried us this far overrode all of our other instincts and we fell into a silence only punctuated by crunching noises and the occasional groan of delight. When future generations look back on this time and perhaps wonder what we were doing, whether any of us were aware of the looming crisis or indeed prepared to take action, to fight for a better future for our children or our children's children the answer will be plain. No, but some of them made great strides in serving delicious takeaway pizza, and some of them wasted their time and energy writing lengthy google reviews about it.

Excellent Detroit style pizza in the United Kingdom

Really tasty pizza selections. I'm a pretty big eater and not a pizza lover by any means. But decent amount of choice and the thickness of the pizzas mean I would stick to 2 slices at most. The pizzas were really nice, I got two slices waffle fries and a scotch bonnet sauce. The pizza options didn't have a spicy selection so if your more a spice person like me I'd get the scotch bonnet sauce. Service was quick and easy to do so no complaints. Overall if you like pizza I'd say give it a try with a few different selections.

The pizza is beautiful, but the experience was spoilt by the moody waitress who served us, very rude and unwelcoming. Such a shame as we visit here often as the food is great, however the attitude we have just been served would make it very hard to return!

Amazing pizza....the Mexican special they do is one of humanity's greatest cultural achievements.
