Spurriers House Cafe in Harlow

Overpriced! one hard sausage in a roll, very disappointing. Jacket potatoes £5.95 any additional filling a quid, same with omelettes, wouldn’t mind if the quality was good but it’s not. Don’t recommend

What a beautiful place spurriers cafe is and in stunning surroundings. Short waiting times and friendly staff.I bought myself a coffee and bacon bap and went and sat on a bench out in the paddocks,perfection!!!! The bacon bap was so tasty,that i had to go back and get a second lol. I would highly recommemd spurriers cafe. Top marks from me.

Possibly the worst experience I’ve ever had in a cafe, as I waited 45 mins for cheesy chips and paid £4.75 to which I had to chase 4 times for but was told they forgot about the chips in the microwave. Given the perfect location next to pets corner, you would have thought that service would be better but it seems as though it’s run by volunteers than actual paid staff who don’t really want to accomodate paying customers. To charge £12+ for pizzas, you’ll probably be waiting an hour for it to be cooked and then the cost of drinks is a bit of a joke. Yes, you’ve got inflation but provide a decent service if you’re going to be charging prices of that stature. Need to get their act together or they’ll lose a lot of custom, not just for them but also for the farm run by volunteers!

Attempted to visit this cafe for a late lunch. Waited for 20 minutes to get to the counter to be told the kitchen had closed because it was too busy. There was no signage to say food was not on sale and my poor 2 year old son was very hungry. The staff were sarcastic and rude to me. I will not visit again. A number of the comments below echo the fact the waits are very long which shows a pattern of behaviour.

Disgusting cafe. We had a hotdog, chips and a scone, The scone came out oven baked and steaming hot which just tasted rank. It was explained that the scones are not fresh, they come in frozen. The hotdog looked microwaved and the chips we barely cooked which is surprising seems as it took 25 minutes to cook! Overpriced and slow. We will definitely not be returning!!

I have been coming to the cafe now over a year on my daily walk in the park. The service is excellent, the food is fresh and hot and the coffees are delicious. I highly recommend this fantastic cafe

I love visiting here for my lunch & a coffee on my own and with my support staff, the food here is great and the coffee is great too, it is in a good location at the Town park, the staff here are very friendly and very welcoming, the prices here are very reasonable and I will be coming here again.Thankyou to the staff. :)

Absolutely awful. Food luke warm and dry very overpriced will not be visiting again and certainly will not recommend

I visited this smart little cafe with my daughter while walking the dog in the park. We stopped off for a sandwich and a hot chocolate. As dogs are not allowed inside we stayed on the terrace which is nice. Inside is really smart and modern, and there is a room at the back with some tables. Staff were really friendly and service was good. Cakes on display looked amazing and all are made by the cafe. Prices were reasonable for the quality and facilities which included access for wheelchairs and buggies. We both had a sausage sandwich with hot chocolate with the extras on top. Perfect for a chilly day. Will definitely be back for more next time we're walking the dog.

Tuna and cheese panini. Totally soggy, no seasoning and cold in the middle. Im guessing microwaved..!! Coffee ok. If they cant do a panini dont hold much hope up for the other food. Also ordered a large chips a tiny box half full. Prices over the top. Needs a shake up big time. Better off sticking to the toby carvery just over the road..Considering this is their main competition I would be worried if I owned that place.

Called in after a cold and wet walk in the Town Park. Warm welcome lovely people good coffee tea and snacks. Worth a visit.

Over priced poor service ...avoid unless it’s just a coffee you want. Great location sadly our visit was marred by food late and not all coming out together grand kids got fed up but not as much as me especially with the price I paid.

Lovely looking cafe in the park, nice building and setting. Painfully long wait for 2 lattes and what were meant to be 2 spiced chai lattes. The chai lattes were literally froth with a little slightly flavoured milk, glad we had the cinnamon on top as I imagine that was the flavour coming through. Would rather go thirsty than get another hot drink from there!

We arrived 10 mins before opening but they let us in early. Food was good and reasonably priced the staff were great and the facilities fine. What more do you need from a cafe?

This cafe is in a beautiful building in a beautiful park and is the only place you can purchase food or drink. Be prepared to wait, wait and wait a bit longer, even on quiet days. Woefully slow service especially when the majority of purchases are ice cream/canned drinks/tea to go etc.

Took the kids to the little farm next door and we decided to have lunch in the Cafe afterwards. It’s a very nice and well presented place, looks clean and tidy too. The food is ok but nothing special, the kids had fish fingers and chips & chicken dippers & chips, both were over cooked. I ordered the large omelette that says it comes with 4 fillings but unfortunately they forgot 2 my fillings, it also comes with a side salad but they didn’t have any sort of salad dressing what really lets the salad down. I did ask the lady about this and mentioned to her about my 2 fillings missing from my omelette but she was so slow and didn’t really seem to know anything that I just gave up. I would come here again, it’s not all bad but I think what it really needs is a bit of leadership.

First of all I have been here numerous of time and never had problem however there needs to be improvement on staff there always slow . Only one person working on the front of the restaurant during lunch mayhem it’s just not on there needs more stuff and also there chips use to be good however no there artful there use to make it so good but there stop doing those chips there starting to make chips which are really crunchy and that have no taste which doesn’t help. Other then that nice place to have a cafe near the town park in the corner and nice variety of cakes and drinks in fridge and ice creams in freezer. And good space of sitting outside but I do thing they need to add more sitting inside .

Getting fed up with every time I’ve been there, they only have a quarter of their menu. Staff are nice but clearly bored. They never have smoothies, milkshakes or anything other than chips and even they have been a rare option given to us. First time I went there we waited about 45-50 minutes to be served and then finally got told no food and no drinks other than coffee and cold refrigerated drinks. Please sort this out

Visited this cafe on Good Friday with family - park and cafe extremely busy as very sunny day. I was very impressed with the service and the choice on the menu. Cafe was clean and well stocked. Toilets clean Well done to the staff working!!!

Food was excellent! Fresh, ingredients were great quality and service was very good. Received our order in a reasonable amount of time. Would definitely recommend

My wife and I had lunch there today, very disappointing. I had a bacon baguette, it was a part backed baguette which had not been finished of and so was only part cooked. My wife had a panini which instead of being toasted was heated in a microwave, very soggy. All the sparkling water in the drinks cabinet had an expired date of last February.

Visited again, but poor experience. Panini was a half baked panini roll microwaved !!! Stoggy and unpleasant, surely they have a panini grill?? Husband had a baguette which again was a part baked item, badly prepared. .

First visit. Had not realised what a nice cafe was hiding next to pets corner. Food freshly prepared, staff friendly. Limited inside seating, must get busy when the weather is nice. Will revisit.

Very nice cafe, reasonably priced, friendly staff. Also an option for a loyalty card. Also added bonus of a nice view of the town park.

Lovely little place for the cafe but the wait was ridiculous for a cup of coffee! It was half term when we went and there didn’t seem many staff on and they didn’t seem particularly happy. One of the girls had long fake nails and her hair was absolutely all over the place, I really hope she doesn’t go anywhere near the food or wears a hairnet and gloves!! There was a man that that seemed more interested in chatting than working to be honest.

This is a really nice cafe. Large selection of food options, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, burgers, chips, kids menu, homemade cakes, hit and cold drinks, ice creams .....etc ..... etc.

The Spurriers Cafe is an excellent park cafe. There is a wide range of food and drinks and pleasant indoor and outdoor seating. It is very child friendly.

Had a nice visit to Spurriers House today. Decided to check our Harlow and this cafe popped up on TA for breakfast. Good value (£6.95 classic) for a delicious breakfast in Harlow Park. Nice clean eating area, good loos, nothing bad to say at all!

Visited today with my little girl. Lovely, clean and inviting. Good menu, friendly staff and reasonably priced.

Have visited twice recently great food locally sourced good value for money. Very pleased disabled toilet easy to access and very clean! Outside seating area has plenty of room good for families as well as all others. Great weather both times we visited so made full use of the outside area.

Absolutely love this place everyone so friendly can sit outside with your dogs even has apropos place to attach your leads and water for them staff always friendly even though gets hectic in good weather days . Food great wholesome healthy choices only thing I want to see is a canopy for outside because when it rains and your with your dogs it spoils my day otherwise top class love it

Spurriers House Cafe is a place that is worth a visit come rain or shine!

I phoned the café a few weeks ago asking if I was able to take my 6 month puppy in,as I wanted to improve help her social training...….

Excellent breakfast and snacks etc and brilliant friendly service and very clean and tidy The town park is on your doorstep to walk off your breakfast

We are visiting the area from the North West and wanted to have afternoon tea somewhere. Harlow Park and the cafe seemed perfect for a visit with an afternoon we had free. I emailed Carole and she got back to me straight away to arrange it even though 24hrs is usually needed as I explained to her we were just visiting and only had that afternoon free.

Decided to try this place, it's always good to support a local business!

So I was at an event that was held at the park and decided to eat at the cafe; what a mistake that was. I ordered a hot dog and a burger, it took 20 minutes to receive the food. I got to watch the food being made through a window and noticed that the cook was using the same spatula to handle raw bacon to then handle all the burgers ( seemed like that shouldn’t happen). The food isn’t cheap either and drinks are a pound for the can, very expensive.

Was so lovely to see this gorgeous big old house open as a cafe. The burgers were yummy. If you remember and enjoyed Wimpy burgers from years ago, try here! Soft floury buns, really good sauce, melted cheese but a higher quality burger. The lady in the kitchen who brought them out was a lovely smiley lady. We will be back.

Best omelette I've had in years! Great smoothie too, and my husband enjoyed his bap. Highly recommended for a reasonably priced, filling and delicious brunch or breakfast.

Really friendly and welcoming staff welcomed us on a very wet rainy day! Lovely to sit and enjoy some amazing homemade lemon sponge and a really good cuppa. Would be great to visit in sunnier weather as it is right in the town park close to Pets Corner and other attractions. Will definitely return!

We quite often walk over here and have breakfast, but today was a sunny winter's day, so we walked along the cycle path to the town park and had lunch here. It is a beautiful setting. We sat outside and took in the views of the park. The food is all home cooked and very tasty. The ladies who work here are very friendly. I would certainly recommend this place for breakfast, lunch or a snack while visiting the park or nearby pet's corner.

Visited Spurriers House Cafe on a school trip. Staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful, especially Ruth! They did a great job at making sure our visit ran smoothly. Food was fantastic and fresh and ready for us on arrival. Cafe has a lovely relaxed feel with a huge variety of savoury and sweet food on offer. Would recommend to anyone.

Have just had breakfast at spurrier cafe very disappointed looked nice but it was cold when I said it was cold got told it was just cooked no offer to warm it up or change it

Following a walk in the Harlow Town Park called in the Cafe for a drink and cake. It was near closing time they were very polite. The tables had not been cleared for a while also the place where you get milk and sugar was quite dirty but that's the public for you. I don't think they had enough staff for serving and clearing. Its a pleasant addition to the Park and was obviously well used as it was a nice day.

Visited for the first time since it was refurbished and it's a massive improvement. Great selection of hot and cold food and drinks, competitively priced. Nice and clean seating area outside.

My partner and I went for a walk in the park not realising how lovely this park is, plenty to do and a beautiful pets centre that is FREE! We decided to have some food in the cafe and the food was excellent, especially my hot salt beef sandwich. Good service, Great coffee and really good prices. Would definitely recommend. Sorry didn't have any photos of the cafe so put a couple from pets corner.

The cafe is perfectly situated in a lovely local park. It is right next to a pets corner. The food was fantastic. I had one of the best all day breakfasts I have ever had. The bacon and tomatoes were cooked to perfection. Thoroughly recommend it.

This place has so much potential, great location in the park next to pets corner, lovely building but in the 3 times I've been it's been let down by the service. I'm not sure why the staff here are so miserable as it seems like a nice environment to work in, but it's far from service with a smile. The menu is quite extensive but there are some anomalies with the pricing making some choices more expensive than you would think they should be compared to others. The food quality is also variable and there is quite a wait, even for takeaway. I tried the veggie burger on one occasion and it came literally just the burger on a bap, no salad or sauce, strange. My friend ordered a Brie panini to takeaway today and after a long wait she realised after leaving the cafe that it was burnt and mostly inedible. Also although you'd think it would be a good option for families and children being next to Pets Corner but be mindful that they only have 2 high chairs so you take your chances if you have little ones.

We were in there yesterday Sundat 5th June2017 . The staff were up to there eyes and you could see they were under pressure but they were friendly helpful and still able to smile while running around ..(and they were running around outside with orders ). We ordered coffee's and toatie's they were really lovely . The coffee was good and the food was so well presented. Well done guys . Just slow down before you fall down. I am a disabled customer and they even and a space on the table for my chair. longer table than seating area .Well done again .Can't wait to see you again

Harlow Town Park has recently been renovated and along with new landscaping and a revitalised pets corner is the newly opened Spurriers Cafe run by Cafe In The Park. We have visited a number of times for coffee to go but recently stopped for a freshly made baguette which came with side salad and crisps. Having been suitably impressed at the quality, calm clean surroundings and the price we came back and tried an all day breakfast. Well worth the visit! Good customer service and loyalty programme too. We will be back!!

I discovered that the café has only recently re-opened. The signage says that they are open every day of the year (except Christmas day). Had an excellent bacon sandwich, washed down with a large mug of good tasting coffee. I sat outside in the sunshine, although I'm told that there is also indoor seating. I think I will be dropping by more often.

Great place, great food, great coffee, great staff, great deco and venue in a great park. All that a family needs. Also free wifi. Well done all. We had a great time. We will be back every week we hope. Keep up,the good work.
