We have wanted to check out this spot for years and finally got around to going for brunch on our way back from Northallerton to Catterick this morning. We weren’t disappointed. It’s always a good sign when there aren’t many spaces left to park the car, and it was jam packed here. Luckily there was one table left in the cafe. I ordered a prawn sandwich which came with crisps and salad, all very tasty and fresh, and the best cup of tea I have had in a cafe in ages. My husband ordered a bacon and sausage butty, which he said was very hot but nonetheless he devoured in record time. He also had a cappuccino which he really enjoyed. The staff were very friendly, cheerful and helpful, and we loved the farm shop too. Five stars from us and we loved it so much we have reserved a table for Good Friday morning to sample one of their breakfasts which look awesome.

Stumbled across this fantastic spot when ‘googling’ somewhere to meet with friends (who we hadn’t seen for 10 years) before they joined the magical polar express train. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, rearranging the cafe to fit us all in. Nothing was too much trouble regarding drinks or food, especially for the children. We were still there at closing time but still made us more hot drinks after closing the kitchen and didn’t move us on, even though staff had to stay back. This little spot is an absolute find! 100% would recommend.

Stopped off here for a quick sandwich to keep us going en route to the Yorkshire Dales. Really friendly and helpful staff, efficient service and delicious bacon butties, just what we needed. We approached from Northallerton, but this lovely cafe is a short and welcome detour off the A1 at Leeming Bar, if you’re needing a break.

Previously been here for coffee and cake so decided to try the Sunday lunch - big mistake ! Normally if the experience is good or bad I vent my spleen at the time credit where credit is due or negative feedback when appropriate. On this occasion I failed to express myself vociferously at the time maybe just world weary of the UK ! We chose the two course set Sunday lunch it came out plated up - meat was ok, gravy like dishwater, roasties and Yorkshire puddings clearly from a supermarket poverty range and bland vegetables. One of the three desserts was sold out so my wife opted for treacle tart as an alternative expecting it to be part of the deal however we were charged an extra £1.20 for the privilege. The tart was average and the custard was lumpy. I challenged this pathetic charge and the owner wasn’t budging so we will not return. We are fortunate enough to live in an area awash with eateries and don’t mind taking our custom elsewhere, even if that entails an hour in the car travelling. Coincidentally some friends of ours ate there the same day and had to endure the same farcical saga with the treacle tart. They will not return either so for the sake of £2.40 the business has lost five customers which in these difficult times is commercial suicide. Is it worth losing customers for such a paltry sum ?

Have bought fruit and veg here many times but never eaten in the cafe. So today me and hubby went breakfast. He had the full english and I had scrambled eggs on toast. My eggs were very nice. Stopped on the off chance and good reviews for some lunch but food was very disappointing for the cost. Had a beef roll that came with 2 roasties, salad and coleslaw and a homemade chicken and mushroom pie that came with roasties, carrots, leeks and ratatouille. The pie was the worst bit. The pastry was completely soggy and filling tasteless and mushy. Genuinely worst piece of pie I've had! The ratatouille tasted like a tin of tomatoes poured on some courgettes that were cooked to death. The beef in the sandwich was tender but the roasties were anaemic and tasteless (needed a lot of salt). No crispy outside just soft potatoes. We shared a caramel shortbread after thinking the cakes looked good and were maybe why the reviews were good. It was fine but nothing to get excited over particularly for £3.80 for a modest size piece. Bottle of diet coke £3.45?!? We feel robbed and despite service being great and people lovely we didn't leave a tip because I already felt robbed. Sorry but like a really bad school dinner.

Terrible lunch. The bacon in my roll was barely cooked. I asked the waitress if the bacon could be cooked a little more. After about two minutes, the roll came back, not having been further cooked! The only one rasher out of the three that WAS actually cooked was missing! The other two rashers were still the same! At this point, I had to take the bacon roll up to the counter to explain things again. My partner had the bacon, brie and cranberry panini. Once again the bacon had barely been cooked, there was hardly ANY cheese and NO cranberry at all! The panini hadn't been toasted and was very 'pappy'! My latte was completely tasteless and REALLY not worth the high price they charge for it! We will seriously have to consider whether we would go back again. On a positive note, the regular staff that work there are friendly and chatty and the cakes on display looked very nice. We might have bought a cake (or two?) to take away with us if we'd had a better experience in the tea-room itself! Very disappointing.

The place was busy when we arrived at 9.30am with other customers having scones....toasties etc.The menu has a lot to offer....we have tried most things on the menu and the daily specials....never disappoints.Prices are very reasonable for this wonderful place...with the added bonus of buying their own cooked and baked produce from their shop. They have also started to include their Christmas cakes and gifts in the shop which was delightful to see.Keep up the good work Spring House Farm.....always a pleasure to visit your home from home establishment.

We were staying at stonebridge fishing lakes, near Northallerton last week and decided to pop in for a bit to eat. We ordered two ploughmans lunches, at the price of £9.45 each, not a bad price you may say, until we received them, SHOCKING!!! large pieces of bread, lovely but the rest was disgusting for the price, i wish i had taken a picture. Three small pieces of cheese, very small salad two halfs of small tomatoes, very small mixed salad, 3 small pickled onions, two little slices of apple, some pickle in a bun case, half a pork pie cut in half, (home made, no more like shop bought, because we had just had home made pork pies from the butchers in northallerton were lovely proper pork in the middle!!! nothing like these ones, ugh!) the pork in the middle was horrible), two bits of thick ham (was ok but very fatty), the bread took up most of the small square plate. It was a disgrace for £9.45.Then for the sweet i chose lemon roulade!!! VERY small round was £5 shocking and tasted disgusting the white around the lemon centre was just like egg white baked, not sweet at all, and tasted like it had been in the fridge for days, so hard. And last of all I bought a large lasagne, looked lovely £9, again very expensive!!!when i came to cook it that night, NO COOKING INSTRUCTIONS??? Iooking on line for lasagne it said cook for 45 mins, but i was not sure of weight because not on product, it was so dry no tomatoe sauce or white sauce over the pasta sheets, so the mince was so dry.Overall I would not recommend this place at all. It is in a prime location on the main Northallerton road, but not good .I think for being a home bakery the food was very plastic and VERY expensive, next time we are down that way we will certainly be giving this place a miss, which is a shame because the setting is ideal for passing trade into Northallerton, but keep on going because pork pies are really lovely from the butchers in Northallerton.

After checking out the menu, we ordered full English breakfast, warm chicken and avocado sandwich, coffee and tea. My husband asked for no black pudding with his breakfast and was asked what he would like instead, so he ordered extra bacon, so nice to be offered an alternative. Our food arrived, not long to wait and was hot. My sandwich was very nice and good to have a new filling, not the obligatory fillings and my husband throughly enjoyed his breakfast. The Coronaton Chicken either with a baked potato or as a sandwich is the tastiest I have ever eaten and it is one of my favourite fillings whenever I go for a light lunch, The side salads are very good. You can also buy many fresh foods and some novelties from the farm shop. Well worth a visit.

Estamos de vacaciones en la zona y paramos para tomar un bocado. El aparcamiento estaba lleno, lo que siempre es una buena señal. Cuando entramos en el recinto nos preguntaron si habíamos reservado. No, no tenía.

We have been visiting this farm shop for several years now because the food has always been outstanding and well presented. The café had a great atmosphere as the staff seemed to enjoy working together and always had a friendly word or two for the customers and asked if everything was O.K. In August we called in for lunch and were shocked to find that the staff had completely changed and a new team were in place.Whilst all things have to change sometime we were disappointed to find that there was a lack of atmosphere and although the service was courteous enough we would have liked to see more interaction with customers once the food was on the table. The food was good although the bacon was more greasy than before but we cannot be too critical on that alone. Our "average" rating is based entirely on the lack of atmosphere as there is no reason to believe that the food does not compare with that of the "previous team".In summary, we wish the new team every success but we recommend that they make an effort with the atmosphere and contact with customers.

I have been meaning to post a review on here for a while but never got round to it. We have been here a few times for coffee and cake as we don't live far away, however we were on our way to Cumbria overnight in a Travelodge for a Christening am so wanted something substantial for lunch to tide us over. The food this time was so good again it prompted me to definitely put a review on and it was something to do sitting in a hotel room!My husband had a full English breakfast and what a breakfast, he said the bacon and sausage were very tasty, lovely 2 eggs, hash brown and a triangle shaped black pudding, again all very tasty. I had superb scrambled egg. We both had the best brown bread we have ever had, the bread was so light, crispy and tasty. They sell it in the shop so on our way home tomorrow we are calling in for coffee so we will get some. Their kitchen is open and so all can see the cooking going on.The tea room makes their own cakes, bread etc. they are all so delicious, their roulade is to die for, we will be taking some of that home as well. The shop also sells nick nacks which are a bit different fromthe usual things that farm shops sell. They had some lovely Christmas items today, little animal figures in gold with dangly feet, different, so I bought 4. This tea room and shop are well worth a visit, the staff are lovely and friendly, nothing too much trouble, and the food is excellent. We will continue to go back.

It's local so we go quite regularly and I always have the ploughmans special. Yum. 3 slices of good cheese, lovely pork pie, great ham and home made bread plus other tasty bits. The car park isn't that big but there's plenty of parking space outside on a sort of lay-by. It's only 5 minutes from the A1 and definitely worth popping in if you're in the area. There's also a small farm shop on site too selling fruit, veg, pies, meat, etc.

Right across the menu the food is very good and well presented and the service is friendly and helpful. Everything is very clean and the kitchen is adjacent to the dining area and the quality of preparation and cooking is therefore in view. The full English breakfast is one of our favourites and it is beautifully cooked and presented and without the excess grease that one often finds in some restaurants. We have enjoyed all the items on the menu that we have chosen as the standard is consistently high throughout. The farm shop has a delicious selection of cakes, quiches, pies, etc. along with meats, chutneys and preserves as well as lots of gifts and children's books. All in all a very nice dining/shopping experience.

I went with family here, including 3 young children and as children do one of them wanted the toilet, after we had ordered and the drinks had arrived. We were told that they were out of order and after enquiring about staff toilets, were told there weren't any?? Something I find hard to believe, leaving them No option but to go in the small grassed area outside! something that maybe the environmental health department would be interested in hearing about? As one of them went, the other one stood in a pile of dog poo outside on the same grassed area, I know they can't follow round irresponsible dog owners, but when it's near the picnic benches, surely it's something to check. One child had to be taken home for a quick change, resulting in having to delay two meals, which the cafe took in their stride. (Who'd have kids!)Apart from that, all I'd say is it's not cheap, full English was £7.95, but the black pudding was very nice indeed and made the price a bit easier to follow. It was obvious the good quality products were used, so maybe hence the price. Overall, would i go back?, probably, as nice cafe, lovely attentive staff, just not with kids as, although there are high chairs, not a lot for them to do whilst the food cooks.Could quite easily have a bit more grass, fenced off keeping them away and safe from the busy road, and entertained, but hey this is why I don't have kids!!The farm shop was small but we'll stocked with great products.

I didn't visit the Farmshop but my touring cricket team visiting North Yorkshire on tour played Bedale Cricket Club. Spring House provided a magnificent BBQ after our match. Friendly, very reasonably priced food and top quality local meat. I'd highly recommend these guys!

We have also bought our Turkey at Christmas from here for the last couple of years and the taste is amazing. Succulent, juicy and so, so tasty! Neil and his staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble.

I had been to the cafe here on a couple of previous flying visits during holidays to the area, so when back up there this summer I knew that a meal here would be high on my agenda. In the end I actually had two meals there - lunch twice! And on both occasions I had the Ploughmans Special because it was so impressive. Previously I'd had a sandwich and a panini (both of which had been excellent) so I was keen to try something else, and I wasn't disappointed. The Ploughmans Special consisted of three types of local cheese, a home made pork pie, thick, delicious slices of ham, pickled onions, salad, home made coleslaw, home made pickle and great, big wedges of their own bread. Goodness, it took my breath away and tasted just as good as it looked! Along with the gallons of tea, this was one of the best meals on my two week holiday - so good I went back and had it again on another day!

This tea room serves very nice products, cakes etc which are baked on the premises. Downside are the prices, I had a Ploughman's which wasn't anything out of the ordinary but was priced at £8.25. Had better at more reasonable prices.

It's local to us so we go practically every week for lunch over a weekend. The food is delicious, especially the roast ham and pork pies, and the staff are very pleasant. Nice cheeses in the Ploughmans. Being cited in a farm building has that lovely home-made feel about it too. Worth popping in if you're in the area especially if you like local, fresh produce.

We called on spec today for a quick lunch prior to visiting friends in the area. The welcome was friendly. Staff and customers were most welcoming to our two little dogs. How nice this was. The food was most acceptable . Decent-sized portions and a lovely selection of seasonal vegetables. Pity not all pubs are so accommodating.

A warm welcome for all your doggies here at the Fika Room cafe! We have visited several times now with our rather large Bernese Mountain Dog and we are always greeted warmly and have been happy with the staff, the cakes, the drinks and the way that dogs are accepted and welcomed indoors. The staff have always been chatty and very pleasant. Well done! We will be back!

Quality is good. However, the portion sizes have massively decreased, the Parmesan for example is half the size it used to be and is very very thin. Chips are only provided to share between the table, so this is a clear way of trying to save money. The Bay Horse always used to be consistently good when booking a large group. Unfortunately , this will be the last time I visit until they sort out their portion sizes for the price they charge I ordered and paid for drinks at the bar which cost me £40. 2 pints of Pepsi 2 J20 2 sparkling water 2 half pints of lemonade 1 lime and soda 2 lattes
