Busy day in Brixham, the pub next door was full to bursting so we tried this place. It was empty and it didn't take long to find out why. Rude staff, no ice, no diet coke or pepsi. One couple in there drinking larger which was the only thing available. The barman said if you don't like it go elsewhere.

It being the "first pub off the boat" I went in for a quick one after my long sea voyage from Torquay! The beer was fine but the bar staff were a bit grumpy! Having served my time in Brixham I dropped in for one last pint before my return voyage! Again the Jail Ale beer was fine but I was charged a higher price than my earlier pint by an even grumpier landlady! If they want to attract more business in a prime location they need to smile more and sort their prices out!

New landlady is something else. So incredibly rude! No hello, nothing, asked for 2 pints, just served my drinks and shoved the card reader in my face. At that point I couldn’t even be bothered to say I wanted to pay with cash. Pub was dead even though brixham was busy on a Saturday (wonder why) toilets clearly not cleaned for weeks. Bins in toilets almost full (poo tissue on top) bottle bin in the middle of the pub with flies hovering above it. Vile

Rude bar person. Two points of diet Pepsi that cost nearly £6 and they were just watered down. Horrible drink. Husband returned them and we were told that's the way they are and not everyone likes it but that's how it is. Under new management - good luck with that then if that's how you treat your customers!

On the quayside with a few tables outside. Inside is traditional but could be decorated better. The landlord is very droll but ok when we got used to him. Point 3 on the sign above and behind the bar says "No bitching". The landlord obviously has not read it. He told us immediately on entering "no food" and that it's a fishermans pub. Not welcoming at all but we found him amusing.

My partner and I came to Brixham for a day out and decided to pop into a pub for a pint. This place looked great from the outside. Inside was a different story. The barman completely ignored us both while he chatted to three Scotsmen. He boasted he was a Yorkshireman to them. Well I’m from Yorkshire and never have I met anyone so rude and ignorant. We waited for about 5 minutes then walked out. Well if you can afford to lose business then you’re a richer person than me. Perhaps you need to reconsider your career options as hospitality is certainly not your forte!

Came in here as a good atmosphere outside during the Pirate festival weekend. Best part was being outside of that miserable place! Absolutely horrendous service!!!! One barmaid was talking to her pal, the other one took about 20 minutes to make people in front of us 4 drinks. The older gent serving us had appalling customer service. Again, took ages to make our drinks and keep asking what we had ordered. Once we had our drinks, he walked off without asking for payment! I stood around for a good 5 minutes before walking to my group of friends, and then suddenly he had the card machine ready!! Don’t expect a smile from anybody either, miserable as anything! You would have thought during pirate weekend and in a prime location this pub and their staff would have made more of an effort. We are all brixham locals and I understand this is a very fishermen/ local pub so maybe a word of warning to others who think of visiting! I enjoy drinking in smaller/ family run pubs but in all my time I have never experienced a pub being run so badly! Definitely a lot better local pubs in brixham!

Never been in a pub where the bar man treated me like a hinderance until visiting here. Got grumbled at for buying a large round of drinks, as he obviously had better things to do than serve us and one of our group got told to F##* off for asking to buy a packet of nuts. No wonder the pub next door was so busy. Either he needs re-training or his P45.

We spend a lovely afternoons in Brixham which is a beautiful fishing town. We popped into this pub for a drink and was greeted by a very unfriendly barman, I think he was the landlord because he was in his slippers!! He got our drink order wrong and then angrily accused us of ordering the wrong drink, you can’t go far wrong with a larger and lime but he did, when we questioned him he was very aggressive and shouted “I can speak English you know” he left us feeling really uncomfortable. We left our drinks (which were flat) and visited one of the other lovely pubs who were very friendly and pleased to serve us. Be aware, this is not a very nice pub very dingy and dirty.

We had spent a lovely afternoon/early evening in Brixham. We'd visited as many places that were open around the quayside. As we decided to call a taxi and wait in this pub for it to arrive. I popped to the loo while my partner waited to use the loo after me. Our friends were outside calling the taxi. Suddenly 2 dreadful "women" accused us of planning to use the toilets for lewd acts, and wouldn't let us speak to completely defend ourselves. They physically shoved us out of the pub onto the pavement, basically verbally abusing us and threatening physical abuse and being completely vile for absolutely no reason. I would like to have done this but after an hour or more of waiting for food and the barmaids lack of knowledge of white wines (perhaps staff should have more training)The order that arrived was way off target. We had ordered 2 burgers,1 ham, egg and chips and crab sandwich. we had already been told there was no Chicken Coronation but we had not ordered that. However, when food arrived there was no beef burgers but 2 Egg, ham and chips and 1 crab sandwich. 3 meals for 4 people? No! Correct food ordered? No! The cook was apologetic and offered the extra Egg, ham and Chips leaving one of us with NO meal. The cook also refunded the price of the 2 burgers. However, this is a bad show for the S&M and having looked at Trip Advisor I see that there has been little if none improvement on the service of the establishment. What we hoped would be a good experience turned out to be a very close parody of that famous Hotel...Fawlty Towers but without the humour and the FOOD!!!

My hubby had beef & ale pie which was OK but the meat could have been cooked longer. The saving grace was the girl behind the bar who was excellent and even offered us free wine when she got hold of the key, but we declined as it was too early in the day.

Great food, big portions. The kids loved their menu, they even had sweets in a jar which they took as a keep-sake. Very friendly, great value for money

Had a Sunday roast and it was really good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location offers really good views of the harbour, if you are lucky enough to get a seat outside a really nice place to enjoy a pint and watch the day go by.

Initially came in to try their scampi & chips for lunch but alas the chef was running late and the kitchen couldn't open for lunch until he arrived. So we settled for 2 pints of their on-tap ciders, one of which was described as 'dark & fruity'. Both very drinkable sitting outside in the sun but we wouldn't go back for the 'dark & fruity' again - pretty much tasted like Ribena! [if you've not been to Australia, Ribena is a child's cordial drink made from black currants]. The bar lass was very sweet and apologetic re her inability to serve us food but was also very accommodating when we asked if she would mind if we grabbed some fish & chips from next door to consume at their outside seating - which we did.Bathroom Barometer: very clean

Didn't eat here but we went for a drink a few times. Friendly bar staff who were happy to let you have a sample of beers etc. that you may not have tried before. Great place to sit outside and chat to the locals.

Had a Sunday lunch (lamb) with all the trimmings. Couldn't fault it at all. The staff were helpful and friendly. To older ladies came in and asked for children's portions and they were happy to oblige. £6.95 for the roast - can't go wrong.

This Inn was recommeded to us by the owners of our holiday let but after our visit and after checking out newer reviews, it would appear the Inn has new owners and they have changed the menu considerably. Yes it is cheap, but it was below parr. We complained about the rump steak we had. We couldn't even cut into it, it was that tough and full of fat and not cooked well. The barman was very friendly and a nice fella. The kids meal was good value and my son enjoyed it. We were given a full refund for our steak meals which was fair. Hopefully some of the problems are just teething problems and if they can iron them out, it will become a cheap place to eat but at the moment, I could not recommend it.

We were on an overnight stay and looking for a place to eat. We popped in on the off chance. Staff were very friendly and were able to accommodate us. My husband had the scallops starter and would highly recommend. I had the pate which was very nice. The prawn Thai curry was very nice. Would recommend but advise you book

Came away bitterly disappointed. This was to be a 'milestone ' birthday treat. We were looking forward to a beautiful afternoon tea with a table covered with a crisp, white tablecloth, laidened with delicious teatime treats overlooking Torbay. The experience was nothing like we had hoped for. No one to meet and greet us upon arrival. We were initially ignored then directed, not shown, to a cracked brown formica table 'set' for us with two paper napkins, knives and forks and two glass tumblers, in a corner, away from the main dining area and the window. Eventually, we were approached by Heidi, whom we assumed to be restaurant manager. We asked to be reseated and a table was cleared for us. We were served a pot of tea for two and awaited our food. An hour later, we were still waiting. During that time we witnessed several disgruntled customers complaining. Although there were three waiters present, we did not receive any service or attention from them. After an hour, Heidi reappeared and was very apologetic. She offered us a complimentary glass of Prosecco. Our booking had been for 3pm. By now it was 4.30. The food arrived and like the tea table, was nothing like we were led to expect. The sandwiches were not as described on the menu. Some of the fillings were spread so thinly that they were difficult to identify. The pastries were missing. The cakes were not the patisserie style fancies shown in the promotional pictures, but more like traybakes cut into different sized chunks and didn't seem particularly fresh. Our teapot was refreshed and we were given new cups and "saucers", which turned out to be side plates. Heidi did try to make us comfortable, but by that time, all hope of enjoying our afternoon was lost. We did ask a waiter for a box to take our cakes away but were told "We don't do boxes" and we're directed to a pile of paper napkins and told to help ourselves. The three saving graces are; At £25, it wasn't the most expensive afternoon tea. I would have paid more for a first class experience. Heidi did her best to keep customers happy, with what appeared to be very little support from her colleagues. Whatever the Imperial are paying her, it's not enough. The one thing that the hotel did deliver on was the magnificent view, but I give the Imperial no credit for that whatsoever. Lastly, I sent an email to the Imperial later that day, and to add insult to injury, now, almost a week later, have had no response. NB. Pictured - what the Imperial's advertising led us to expect. NOT what we got !

Returned after a couple of years to fine a beatifully refurbished bistro overlooking Torbay (ok it was misty) with a extensive menu. My confit duck leg was the best meal I've had for years and the seafood platter was equally good.

A easy place to get in to and plenty of space to move around on my mobility scooter. Both staff were very friendly and the pub had a good atmosphere. Drinks were cheap
