Spondon Bakery in Derby

A unique combination of traditional British bakery, European patisserie and Greek takeaway. All products are excellent, authentic and perfectly baked. Service is always friendly and helpful. Prices are good value considering the superb quality and authenticity. Plenty of car parking in the vicinity. Definitely one of Derby's more recent gems.

This bakery has a fantastic range of baked goods, both sweet and savoury. They have a unique range of savoury pastries, some of the best I've ever had!

I popped by this week to try this place for lunch as I walked past and saw they did various things like panini’s and Greek Wraps, the cafe was almost empty when I got there and there was a couple in front of me. It took quite a while for the staff member to come round the back and see us waiting to be served as they have a front area where they sell pastries and cakes etc. The couple went to order something with chicken and the lady said they had none today, she then went to order something else and she said no all we have is a small selection of Greek food, the gentleman asked for something and she huffed and puffed and said yes we can do that but we have no staff so we can’t do everything, (by this time I was stood for 10 mins) you think she would have asked what I wanted if they had nothing just to make sure I wasn’t stood wasting my time. In the end I walked off as I was going to ask for a ham and cheese panini but doubted they were able to do this today. Overall bad customer service and staff member seemed like she was really pissed off.

Friendly service and great food. The halloumi souvlaki is amazing! Definitely recommend. Really good.

We popped in for lunch of moussaka and stuffed vine leaves , wow !! What flavours! it was wonderful . Had the meatballs on a previous visit they were very tasty too. A gem of a place

We stopped here for a snack and coffee omg the Cornish pasties are gorgeous and piping hot very nice place in the middle of the Eagle Centre which is anointed to the Intu centre great staff too.

As title. My search lead to Spondon Bakery for best in Derby. I was preparing a Cornish themed dinner, so wanted an authentic pasty, Obviously, Cornwall is too far to just go and pick up a fresh, genuine pasty. I drove over from the other side of Derby to go and buy the pasties, there was plenty of choice so I settled for their Derby Ram pasty and two minted lamb pasties. The staff were great and the service was also great. Their selection of treats was immense. Pity I had already bought scones and Rodda's genuine Cornish clotted cream (Asda, Spondon) Whilst in Asda, I picked up a bottle of Dead Mans Finger, genuine Cornish spiced rum (Made in St Ives) Very difficult to find outside of the West Country! So, the pasties..... Disappointing. High hopes completely shattered. I suppose I will have to wait until my next visit to Cornwall. Chester Rd Butchers is the place for the best pasty in Cornwall. Chester Rd, Newquay. Thank me later.

I love the cakes, bread and pies from the Bakery so now to have a Cafe & Bistro in the next unit is a welcome addition to the Eagle Market. Warm greeting from the staff, easy to order breakfast/drink, well laid out and pleasant enough seating area. Food was tasty and a good price but would prefer it not to be served on a paper plate.

Good bakery with a good selection of different hot and cold sandwiches, jam spreads, bread etc. I always get the greek chicken wrap which is lovely

This place makes really lovely pies excellent in fact you must give them a try very nice indeed !!!! Please give them a try !!

This, like so many other bakeries is full of promise and then fails to deliver. The only cake I recommend is the lemon drizzle as it is the only one I have found to have any taste. The cloud buns had too much glaze that I couldn't break it with the spoon. The pastry items were lovely though and I would certainly go back for them. The staff have always been friendly as well.

Sausage tiger cob with a cup of coffee to go, very good. Staff are welcoming and friendly with that all important smile. Cakes, pies, jams and bread/cobs also for sale, well worth a visit.

Just found this little gold nugget in spondon, such an excellent bakery, I've only had the sausage cobs from there on Tiger bread rolls but it is perfection, would definitely recommend and also, try the other stuff, it's lovely! Will be back!

I love these when I go to my parents we love the tiger bread cobs. They are very tasty keep baking them.

Everything is homemade. A great place to grab something to eat/drink. Especially when out and about and you cannot find anything open. They also make all day Breakfast Wraps and Greek Chicken Souvlaki Wraps as well as other the other goodies. Also tea/coffee and cold drinks to go. There is no seating/tables. Everything is made fresh so service is not instant for Wraps etc.
