We had a babyshower at kava for my daughter and I have to say it was excellent, the room was perfect the staff were exceptional extremely helpful, the food was fabulous, if anyone is considering kava coffee shop for an event I can highly recommend them,and their prices are fair and affordable, thank you 😊

Just went to kava coffee shop for the first time and had a very unwelcoming reception. The blonde woman looked at us like she was pissed off. We waited about 5 mins to ask if there was a free table and got dirty looks so ended up leaving. Admittedly it looked quite busy but no excuses. Boss needs to hand pick friendly staff with good people skills.

Been few years since I been before and thought let's give another try, had the eggs Benedict royal and nothing good about it at all, one egg and presentation represents a cob van, for £9 I Will never return and go to many other places that represent value for money. Visited many places around derby and this I can easily be at the bottom of my list. Book cafe in derby same price if not cheaper and so much better, Damsons in breadshall absolutely perfect, even blue diamond garden centre is far better Update Thanks for the reply, but no thank you, I am not after compensation, I like to give honest reviews and compliments when deserved.

I hired kava for a private function - (Baby shower) the venue was perfect and I had free rein of organising it how I wanted to. The staff were amazing from start to finish very helpful couldn't do enough for us very accommodating and the food was 5 star.

Been coming to Kava for a long time and always great food, service and atmosphere. We recently hired Kava for a family party and cannot recommend them enough, so helpful with the planning and booking, the food was fantastic as were the amazing staff for the evening, Cannot recommend enough for event hire or for a coffee and food.

First time for us at Kava Coffee Bar. We had Kava special eggs benedict with chorizo bacon and avocado which were exquisite 👌 We also had the eggs royal with salmon which were lovely as well. Thank you Debbie 🫶 This is a great place for a spot of breakfast and coffee. We will definately come back to check out lunch 😋

Called in for a catch up with friend and found myself surprised to be presented with the best looking poached eggs on toast which was perfectly cooked. The bread was toasty but not hard as rock (even the crust), the eggs were perfectly seasoned and the right amount of runny and all served hot. The chai latte was amazing too. Will definitely go again

Absolutely lovely little cafe! Came down for a weekend to visit some friends for the weekend and decided to pop in here for breakfast before leaving for wales, well the ladies behind the counter were lovely and more than welcoming, the coffe was one of the best ive had in a long time and the food was absolutely stunning! Highy reccomend the eggs benedict!!

Booked the cream tea for 2. It was wonderfully freshly made sandwiches, cakes and cream scones. Coffee and tea included as many refills as you wished. Thank you.

Food was amazing, had a very nice bagel with salmon and cream cheese. Sadly for a coffee bar they don’t quite grasp the art of coffee making. My latte, instead of having a nice foamy layer on top, was just really weak coffee with loads of milk. Never in my life have I been served a latte and cappuccino that were literally white of colour. 3£ for making me drink a cup of basically hot milk was far from excellent.

Attended a private function here. Really lovely place, drinks weren't too expensive, put on a grazing board for food. Will definitely be back during day opening times. They do charge more for alternative milks which I don't agree with.

Love this place, the food is lovely, the ladies are so friendly and welcoming. Love the atmosphere. Even when it's busy, it's still a nice chilled atmosphere

We regularly use Kava after playing football Monday and Friday. They reserve a table for us and the service is excellent.

Amazing coffee and service and really nice staff.

Walked in looking for a table for 2 and the fortunately, the place was pretty empty. Stood up at the counter for 5 minutes whilst 3 members of staff failed to acknowledge us. 2 of the members of staff were sweeping the floor so, perhaps the priority ought to be greeting people and then go back to their original jobs? Turned around and walked out. A real shame as we always try to support smaller businesses.

I recently visited Kava Cafe in Oakwood, and I have to say that it was a fantastic experience. The cafe has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, with friendly staff who made me feel right at home. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Amazing baked goods. I'm sad we aren't local to the area as I would definitely be a regular if we were. The brownie I had was the nicest brownie I've ever had. Highly recommend!

Visited this place many times as live locally and always has been rather good. Food is tasty but can be too cold to my liking at times and the drinks are nice. Unfortunately some staff members could be unhelpful and annoying. Had a treat with my daughter today and the staff didn't like the fact my daughter needed a napkin and one blonde oldish waitress was pulling faces when she noticed I helped myself taking two napkins from the counter. The whole experience was ruined. Will think twice before visiting again.

I had the eggs Benedict it was amazing. Lucky to have such a nice coffee bar just round the corner.

Nice enough place but charging extra for decaf is a diabolical liberty and victimising those who have an intolerance ... won't be going there again....

Me and my partner had the eggs Benedict (royale and the breakfast bacon/mush/toms) Came hot, tasted absolutely beautiful! Atmosphere was cosy and really relaxing and staff were really friendly and happy to help! Would definitely recommend and will be returning soon!

Absolutely brilliant. We had my daughters baby shower here today and I was very impressed. The food was plentiful and delicious but the stars of the day were the fabulous staff, they were absolutely amazing. Liz and the team were helpful and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Even helped with putting the decorations up. Thankyou Kava for a wonderful venue, food and service. Would 100% recommend you to all my family and friends.

Came here for the first time today for food and drink. Everything was great, food was fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. Want to shout out to an incredibly welcoming and pleasant member of staff (I think her name was louise? Long dark hair). She made the whole experience of visiting for the first time easier. She was most helpful with directions, had a great manner and a cracking sense of humour. An asset to the team! Having worked in the hospitality sector for many years prior to retirement, I can always spot a naturally personable member of staff from one who forces a smile. Will certainly be back!

Kava Coffee Bar its a lovely coffee place. Clean, food is great plenty of choice. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Took daughter for an afternoon tea it was nice but not worth £15 a head. Plenty of cakes not enough sarnies. I would still go back to eat there. Evening opening too. Great place.

Visited this dinner for takeaway coffee ,scones and Brownies after promising my mum a treat if I could finally coax her out of the house for a brisk walk on markeaton Park. Very efficient ordering process and large collection of sweet treats in the window to enable the customer to see whats available. Tasty lattes ( mine was hazelnut) ,my only gripe was I asked what was is the scones as in flavour as my mum has issues with certain food ,and was told fruit.But unfortunately when we arrived home 1 scone has cherries in which she is allergic to . But all in all a fab stop off . Xx

Lovely little cafe, very COVID secure, screens everywhere and temperature check on entrance. The panini I had was excellent, and everything our table had was high quality.

Felt as though we should not be there, was given the bill straight away, never happened before.also had booked the time and date, table was double booked, but they sorted it, ordered another coffee, same again bill at the same, have always come there with my friends, but no more.

Popped here when our original lunch plans fell though. We called ahead and they were able to put us on a table for six. The staff are friendly and have clearly gone the extra mile to make any customers feel as safe as possible; they check temperatures of customers on the way in and require customers to antibac their hands regardless on whether they are simply taking away or eating in. The food and drink were of excellent quality, in particular the freshly made pizzas are something special. Oakwood is very lucky to have Kava.

I’ve visited Kava several times recently and on this occasion I stopped for lunch. The drinks are always good, the food tasty and the service as expected. I have noticed that each time I go, the waitress seems confused why I would ask for Oat milk in my drink but maybe have a tuna sandwich (I’m not vegan!) but they are always friendly.

After a Saturday morning walk stop on the way home at Kava Coffee bar, lets be honest its for the cake or the cake, fantastic slices of an array of cakes which bought 4 slices, all different (mint rocky rock awesome) and all fantastic

Lovely place to relax and eat. The food was really good and the service was very friendly and quick, will definitely be returning.

Cosy atmosphere, also outside seating, good range of drinks and food.

First visit since the shop could fully open, weirdly its not the same but the quality of cake is fantastic, more rocky rock for me which you can now eat at a table inside or outside (in the sun) with a drink or take home, quality.

Finding the time to catch up on my reviews during lock down. I went here for brunch with my GF as we’ve been for coffee and cake before. The menu was different and interesting and the food was delicious and freshly prepared. I’ve never visited in the evening but the place is always busy and looks like it has a great atmosphere. Worth a visit once we’re set free.

Small but very friendly and cosy place with pleasant lighting and a great community atmosphere. Great for cocktails, but not so much for beers, and drinks are a tad bit pricey, although the quality of the service explains it. 😀

Although it was s blend of coffees, it was a great double espresso. The food portions were a bit small but enjoyable.

Lovely food and coffee! We had a bit of a wait due to a large party but there was no compromise on quality and was worth the wait. The waitress was also very apologetic about the wait.

Great little place. I often visit during weekends of an evening as it's a much better alternative to the local pub. Atmosphere is good and there is usually a singer on a Fri. Food is also good, beit a platter to share in the eves or perhaps a sandwich, jacket or toastie during the day. I sense it's popularity may require a bigger venue at some point but right now it's perfectly sized. To improve it I would consider lowering the l volume when there are singers on as there are often people who are there to socialise amongst themselves and it can be overpowering. Depends who the singer is! I would also get some better glasses for the Peroni as the straight pint glasses aren't great. Bob

Stopped by for a quick coffee, nice staff and good coffee. Small and compact. Need to try the brunch and cakes next time. Suggest walking or cycling to here as there isn’t much parking.

Popped in for a bite of lunch yesterday. Arrived to a warm welcome from the friendly staff. I had a large latte which was rich in flavour. Followed by a panini - went for the cheese, tomato and spinach. Food was served promptly and was lovely. Lunch was under 10 pound for one person - a reasonable price for a good lunch. Lovely lunch. Lovely atmosphere. Will return when I’m next passing by!

I recently went for afternoon tea, the sandwiches were made as we waited for our guest of honour, the tea and coffee were supplied constantly, the cakes!!!! The scone was delicious and fresh (my favourite cake and I've had some bad ones) one of the nicest I've had,we had tiny macaroons and sponge fingers and a sponge cake but by this time I couldn't manage the sponge so the boxes came out for us to take home. Overall it was a lovely experience and made so by Debbie and her staff.

I tried this coffee shop for the first time today the service, food and coffee was excellent. Very clean pleasant surroundings with friendly staff. I will definitely be going back again.

Thanks to Team Kava for an Amazing afternoon Baby Shower!We had a Baby Shower for 21 people at Kava and they were fantastic. I spoke to Jo beforehand to arrange the event and she was so helpful both before and during the event. The mum to be is vegetarian so I wanted to ensure that there would be a lot of foods that she would be able to eat and Kava put together a great buffet with lots of carrots, red pepper, hummus, chickpea salad and a selection of paninis and cheeses and olives so a really great selection and plenty of food! The selection looked really colourful and rustic. We also got to choose a hot drink or a mocktail with the food and the mocktails looked fabulous!On the day I just had to bring in my decorations and the team at Kava sorted them all out for me so the room was ready when I arrived. During the event the team were really helpful in making sure we had everything we needed for the games and cutting the cake up and even offering to take our photos!Had such a great afternoon! Perfect venue, great food and drink! Would highly recommend! Thanks Team Kava!!!

I’ve eaten here several times and require my food to be gluten free, there are always options available and the staff are really helpful and well informed regarding g what I can and can’t eat. The food is always fab.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon - myself and husband, toddler and baby. We were made to feel very welcome. There is an excellent, varied menu (including for children) and the food was delicious. We couldn't resist the cakes either which were also really nice. There is a lovely atmosphere in this cafe - would definitely recommend and will be returning! A hidden gem
