Spinning Slots Cafe in Wigan

I've been here twice, and the food is always lukewarm. The younger staff are polite, but the older staff look like they don't want to be there. Take the slots away and extend the cafe, this place just needs some TLC.

My wife and I decided to give this place a try and will certainly not be going back. The first red flag was the various meals already plated-up and waiting under the food warming lights. They looked like they’d been there for hours. Why we didn’t leave at that point, I don’t know. The second red flag was the noise. Apart from the background radio being too loud, there is an arcade to the rear of the café which was blarting out all sorts of sounds. Again… we should have swiftly left. Anyway, we stupidly ordered some food and drinks and needless to say, it was absolutely rank. Everything had clearly been prepared hours earlier and had been festering under heat lights, out of sight. The food was barely lukewarm and as dry as the Sahara. None of it had been freshly cooked/prepared. As for the brews, I think the coffee had been stewing for days and the tea was, shall I say, like bladder fluid (if you get my drift). I wanted to complain and request a refund, however, my wife doesn’t like to make a fuss and asked me not to complain. Their prices are way too high and I wanted my money back, considering the poor quality that was dished-up. Never again!!! NB: I almost forgot to mention that the table hadn’t been cleaned either 😡

Love the staff that work there. They go above to make you feel welcome. Food is very good esp breakfast. Cakes are amazing . Places like this need to be more dog friendly.

Very pleasant cafe with equally pleasant staff. Part of the market complex and also attached to the bus station. Good selection of cakes

The cafe in spinning slots leigh, is personally I think vastly over priced for what it is. Some of the staff look as though they are worked to the bone without a break which is funny as I never see the place with more that 3 people in at a time. Yes this is a bright and airy cafe but I sdo think that the slots section of this premises takes up to much of the space as there's not enough space to swing a cat let alone have a meal.

This is a cafe but it does home cooking. Atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the staff are always friendly. One of the best in Leigh.

Appalling Service. Not dog friendly at all. Says it is on line. After paying for food and drink they said not allowed dog. Handled dreadfully. Don’t use this place

Have been in here several times. Staff are ok if they know you but a bit offhand if they don't. Not rude but not friendly. When asking about allergens they don't seem to know what ingredients are in their made products. Instead of looking their advice is best not to risk it. Food is ok, don't expect large portions though. And every time I have been in here with a group there has always been one item that has been forgotten. Last time my family had all finished their food and drinks and my chips hadn't arrived. Apparently they forgot them. Also they add things into the food such as cheese on a salad which was not described on the menu. And my chips were heavily salted which I would rather not have had.

Been here for Afternoon Tea before so knew what to expect. We received sandwiybefore but this time sub rolls with the food on. Very good and would recommend. The desserts where different and also very good. Could have a cold or hot drink.

Visited this place recently and never even got to sit down, we were spoken to in an awful manner so we left. No wonder the place was almost empty at 1pm on a Monday 3 weeks from Christmas, everywhere else we went that day was full. Would never set foot in the place again. How people say it's good is beyond us.

Have been visiting this face for some while now. Coffee depends on how busy they are and who is working as to whether you are greeted with a smile or not. Last week waited over half an hour for 3 cappuccinos, when asked if we'd been forgotten, were told "we're busy and there's a queue" by a young girl. This week 2 of us went in i queued for 15 minutes to be served. No eye contact given. If we were told sorry we'll be with you asap wouldn't be a problem. 10.30 am and no potato cakes! When my daughter and grandson came in, they say a few tables away then as there was more room on our table for 2, on moving their chairs to sit with us were told the chairs are for customers! Well what are we! My grandson is type 1 diabetic and could not have a drink from the cafe as today he had problems with his sugars, so he stood up. Then shared a chair with his mum. The young lad who waits on is very nice, some of the other staff need customer service training. We have had drinks tried to be taken away from us before finished when busy. Not the cafe it used to be. People walked out today making comments. One couple had finished their drinks before their food arrived.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating with my two children, altering the afternoon tea slightly in order to meet their needs better. I was glad I had booked it for four despite having a 1 year old who didn’t eat much as there was very little savoury choice and the cakes were poor quality - packet bought rather than the homemade ones I was expecting when you walk through the lovely cafe and see the array of cakes on offer. The fruit scones were absolutely delicious though. As this was a Groupon deal it was ok but I think I’d have been disappointed if I’d have paid full price.

We visited Spinning Slots Cafe on Sunday afternoon. The cafe is in the centre of Leigh, the staff are very welcoming and the place is very clean and tidy. We had the afternoon tea which at £10 per head is great value (although we had a Groupon offer which made it even more so!). Not only was it great value but it was lovely, and plenty of it! I am vegetarian, although I do eat fish so I had a tuna and mayo, cheese and onion, and egg mayo sandwiches, and my partner had ham and cream cheese, beef, and cheese and onion sandwiches. There was also a large fruit scone each with jam and clotted cream, two smaller cakes - lemon drizzle and Manchester tart, and also a jelly and custard each. The afternoon tea was beautifully presented and included plenty of salad garnish. I preferred this afternoon tea to one I had recently at the Midland Hotel in Manchester, the setting may not be quite the same, but the food was certainly better. Would highly recommend.
