The dishes are freshly made. I had the samosa bowl, the samosas were crisp with fragrant filling. There were several very flavourful salads in the bowl, and a very generous portion.

First time here and absolutely loved it! The lunch deal offered so much choice and the salad box was delicious. Great vibe and excellent service, with friendly staff who took the time to explain the options to me (great vegetarian and meat options). Will definitely return!

Is it because they're an arty farty establishment that they feel they can treat their customers with such disdain? Every time time they recruit new people to serve customers, the qualifications must be to have no experience in customer service with no personality. The two ladies who served me today shouldn't be anywhere near a customer service position I like Spike Island and it's a hub of great creativity, the trouble with creative businesses like these is that they forget the most important aspect of dealing with customers and that is good customer service. I'm afraid this place knows very little about this - What a shame!

Well worth a short side trip from the SS Great Britain area of the Harbourside. The helpful staff make a cracking hot - not warm - coffee here. The well-presented food display showcases an inventive chef offering an excellent, changing range of savoury and sweet options. Breakfast bagels or filled croissants. Vegetarian and vegan - roast onion and feta, spinach tortilla, roasted leeks in a crisp pastry case, soups and salads. Sweet delights - juices, almond brownies, dark chocolate and date or Bakewell slices, fruity flapjacks... All in light and airy surroundings interleaved with plants. A restful atmosphere and good energy. Outdoor seating as well for sunny days. Pleasant music and clean loos! (Not that many toilets on a walk round the waterfront.) Frequent free art exhibitions to visit. On M2 bus route to Long Ashton Park and Ride. Road parking free on Sundays. Plenty of bike stands.

This is our favourite café in Bristol. We're vegetarian and vegan and the menu here is varied, fantastically tasty and excellent value. It's a great location, just off the harbour side and there's usually an interesting exhibition in the main gallery. The cafe staff are lovely. Favourite meals are the huge sourdough sandwiches and gorgeous salads. Oh, the coffee's great as well!

I met a friend for lunch and she suggested Spike Island. I hadn't been before in fact I didn't know there was a cafe there. It was lovely! Really nice food very reasonable and friendly staff. My friend had a croissant sandwich and I had really yummy Dahl which was just great on a cold day. We didn't have cake but there was a good selection and they looked nice...will go back for coffee and cake next time.

It was half term, everywhere in the area was too busy for us. We popped into Spike Island Café and found space. Light, airy and clean, the staff were friendly, the food was great, nice homemade soup, a huge falafel dish and a massive toasty certainly filled us up. All good value, we really enjoyed it.

Have known this place through many iterations, ups and downs and love it for the location and style/feel. Recently went for first time in a while - think maybe new people running it again. Food is pretty good. But the staff seem to have a weird attitude towards customers! Is 'lackadaisical' the right word? One older guy who had obviously been waiting for a while tentatively came up to the counter to check they hadn't forgotten his coffee and got his head bitten off - "I haven't had a minute to do it!". Not great. We ordered soup and though they warned us there would be a 10-minute wait (we checked) it was more like 20 minutes and when it came it was nice but not as described on the menu (plain wholemeal flatbread instead of sourdough toast and no evidence of the blue cheese promised). When I politely pointed this out the server claimed the cheese was in the soup - and no apology/explanation about the change of bread. Made me feel as if I was causing a fuss. Hmm. All very middle-class problems but not sure I'll go back in a hurry which is a shame.

I called in here for lunch after visiting the adjoining art gallery. There was a wide range of food on offer, which included numerous vegan options. There was also a wide range of fruit juices and coffees, Food and drinks are ordered at the counter and then delivered to your table. The staff were friendly and explained some of the food options to me. Recommended.

Is it because they're an arty farty establishment that they feel they can treat their customers with such disdain? This morning was the 4th time at different times that I've visited to have a coffee at Spike Island and the 4th time, they've not been open. There is always an excuse, this morning was a staff member running late, last time, the coffee machine wasn't working properly, it's always something. I needed to send some urgent emails this morning and have a coffee and a danish, and once again, they let me down! I like Spike Island and it's a hub of great creativity, the trouble with creative businesses like these is that they forget the most important aspect of dealing with customers and that is good customer service. I'm afraid this place knows very little about this and I for one, will not frequent an establishment that treats customers in this way

First the good - and there is plenty of good! The quality is great - soups/specials are hearty and wholesome. Coffee is decent. Cakes are great. Quiche is amaaaaazing. The only hiccups are service, which can be very slow, and value for money on some items. It can be one person doing everything (till, making coffee, serving food) and while staff are friendly, they are never in a rush! It's only an issue if you're on a break though. My other issue is portion size for some things - for example, side salad is £1 per (small, desert size) spoon so it ends up costing more than other decent options (Mokoko, Spicer & Cole etc) but with less food. Very tasty food, just could do with a bit more of it ;)

We enjoyed a quick stop for Chai Latte and fruit cake which was so moist and yummy. It was a lovely relaxing atmosphere - despite being Bristol locals we’d not been before as it’s a little off the normal harbour walk - but a fun place to stop and then pop into to see the latest exhibitions. There seemed to be a creative workshop going on which also looked interesting.

This cafe is just by the m2 metro bus stop for the S S Great Britain. It is light, airy and has a trendy feel to it. Service was excellent, and our soup and cake were very tasty. There's an emphasis on fresh, healthy food. Some people having business meetings but I suppose that is par for the course these days.

Amazing food although queue built whilst one member of staff sat on a computer. Not great acoustics in cafe but awful noise from staff crashing crockery and cutlery. Friendly venue.

This is a well presented Arts Function Venue (probably not the appropriate description!) with a lovely café. Had coffee and cake on a lazy Sunday afternoon. They have some good looking dishes on their menu as well. Their sister location is the Folkhouse on Park...

We usually have fruit teas and felt we would expand our experience with bubbleology. Alisa gave the most wonderful advice and breakdown of all the drinks we had interest in. Such a lovely girl who gave the customers all the time they needed. It was wonderful to be greeted with such a warm happy smile and clearly cared about making someone else’s day better. Thank you Aliza (sorry if I’ve messed up the spelling)

Oh wow!! What a lovely place. We visited here for the first time on our yearly trip to Bristol and it was wonderful. It's in a nice pretty location at Clifton village, by a little quant street with other eateries and pretty shops. It had a really lovely vibe. We sat outside and soaked up the atmosphere. Very relaxing. The lady who served us was so welcoming and friendly and gave us plenty of time to choose (so many delicious things to choose from it took us a while!!) The cafe is pretty inside, it also has a little shop area selling gifts and house things. There is such a wonderful selection of vegan cakes and drinks. The cakes looked amazing. They certainly know how to showcase vegan cakes. I wanted to try all of them 😋 The drink selection was really good too, lots of unusual things to try. The lavender coffee was delicious. All in all, the food, atmosphere, drinks and service was fantastic and we'll certainly return on our next visit to Bristol. This place was a highlight of our visit. Just wish we didn't live so far away....this would be a regular coffee and cake stop for us 😋😋😋
