Modern Indian restaurant. Good service, friendly waiters and excellent food. There were 4 of us for a meal. The food was very tasty and we were so full we didn't need desserts.

I had a absolutely awful experience , it left me qite shakened up ,called up to ring my local Indian take away as I was absolutely starving from working 12 hours to keep the parasites going , & was told that they are closed , in abrupt manner , I called at 22.10pm , will never call this business again .as I know they are definitely open till 22.30pm Shocking service and now I will go WITHOUT ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. REGARDS MR SHACKLEES

I ordered food from them and they were all good and they were looking at radison and the kids Drinks carefully my wife and I had to go to the shop coop is this still available for sale thanks

Fabulous takeaway. Was really skeptical after reading the reviews here once I'd ordered on Deliveroo however, both myself & my partner loved it. We ordered on New Year's Day evening because we needed something easy after a flight home - it took an hour & a half to arrive which I think is perfectly reasonable for New Year's Day and/or otherwise, as it was good quality food. All the food was lovely - we had one lamb Tikka masala, bhajis, rice & 2 chapatis which was more than enough to share as we also got complimentary salad, sauce and poppadoms. I wouldn't let other reviews put you off ordering, we had a great experience and would definitely use again. :)

The food greasy . You can only see the oil on the top. Impossible to eat . Deffinetly won't order again . Waste the money .

I went with a group of ex work colleagues, (me being retired), very enjoyable experience.

Great Indian food, very tasty, lovely quality, delivery was very quick. Have tried several Indian restaurants in Gloucester and this one is the best by far. We look forward to enjoying more of the menu in the future.

We always order from here but tonight’s curry was horrible very very greasy curry it went in the bin and it’s very expensive to not very happy at all.😞

So ordered through just eat and the driver called to say he was outside he was actually about 5 mins up the road, he then refused to come to the house to deliver and wanted me to walk and meet him in my pajamas he then hung up and refused to deliver. Called the restaurant and they said take it up with just eat and would accept no responsibility or tried to rectify the problem! They also said we gave the wrong address not possible when it’s saved on just eat. Terrible service

Not too busy, well priced, excellent food

Food was OK unfortunately we didn't know you had to bring your own alcohol they didn't even serve alcohol free beer. When the bill came the prices were more than in the menu we selected from. Only coffee was nescafe not the best experience

First impression good. But there was a dispute over the bill, they have 2 menus we ordered from the in-house one they charged from the other one. They sorted it when we spotted it. Unfortunately I have been really ill for 24 hours with Diarrhoea and Vomiting. Another member of the group has felt sick. I had only had breakfast the day of the meal so unlikely cereal.

Ordered some takeout last weekend. Apart from the biriani, rest of the food were smothered with similar but different coloured sauces and contained tiny slithers of meat. Not a pleasant experience.

Food was warm but the sauce was so bland and we both felt disappointed by the food. Just very mediocre and nothing to rave about. Partner found chicken was very dry and tough. The cheese and keema naan was the only nice thing.

An hour and a half late and got the order wrong!!! Won't be ordering from here again

We turned up for our meal at 7:30pm. By 7:45 our order had been taken and we sat awaiting our food. As we sat and chatted we could see that people in the restaurant were having to prompt the staff for their food. Clearly take away business was being prioritised over us. The restaurant was not particularly busy and as customers left their tables they came over to us wishing us luck about being served. At 9:45 we decided that having to sit for over two hour was not on. When we questioned where our food was, the front of house said that we had to wait our turn. The attitude was awful, especially the front of house.

Disgusted by the attitude and behaviour from one particular member of staff ( you know who you are ). He was literally throwing our dishes, plates, rice and naan breads on to our table. Appalling customer service. If you want to be treated like crap by a waiter, then this is the place to go to. I live in Longlevens and have been using this curry house for many years. Never again will I enter this restaurant or order a takeaway. This guy is getting a reputation for his behaviour towards his customers. My advice to him and his employer's is, go and find another job that you are happy in and stop taking your misery out on the people that are paying your wages.

The food arrived on time but that was probably the only decent bit. The rice was cold , the Bhuna was completely flavourless and the chick dry and over cooked. The mixed Kebab was absolutely disgusting and impossible to eat !! Onion Bhajis were greasy and cold. I will never order again and even worse is I bought on Uber eats and could leave feedback there Please don’t do it !! Go to somewhere else

Great food Great service what more could you ask

Bad food. Fish and chicken had same curry. Identical. When notified staff was trying to justify. No tase at all in anything else. Looked as if starters have been bought from Tesco or Asda and reheated.

Totally Disappointed, No flavours. Butter Chicken was less flavour than a supermarket brand, Rice had little flavour! BIG SHAME it used to be GREAT, not now

Still my favourite Indian restaurant (except it's a takeaway at the moment) We've had many of our family celebrations here over the years, and how to enjoy many more when the situation allows.

I had a take away about average price and the food was delivered pretty much on time and was hot. However it had very little flavour (rogan), and the lamb was tough and chewy. Later followed by a really upset tummy. I would definitely not have food from there again and would not recommend it.

Wish Id seen the reviews on here! Ordered and spent around £40 on food. Waited an hour and a quarter well over estimated time and rang SKC who didn't seem to know what was going on and encouraged me to call in another 10 or 15 minutes! I asked them to find out where my order was and they didnt fill me with confidence - its with the driver, he will do 4 deliveries then yours, we cant call him to chase etc. Order came over 1hr30mins later, lukewarm, one of the naan was well overdone, oil was leaking throughout the delivery package. Shambles. Rang to complain, no ability to speak to a manager(!) I was told the delay was caused by the restaurant taking orders from multiple websites! I was advised if I wanted to complain to reply to my delivery email (it's a DONOTREPLY email address) or 'leave a review on Tripadvisor! Sent a complaint email to their actual website(there are numerous on the internet, some seem to be different food order firms that process the orders on SKC's behalf seems they cant cope with this. No reply to my email complaint so here's my hurried review. Avoid this lot, a supermarket own curry is miles better!

What better way to see in 2021 than with an Indian takeaway? Given what we received almost anything would have been better. We ordered 2 curries and poppadoms at 7.30 for a shade under £30. We were advised it would be with us at 21.10. We then received a message to tell us it had been delivered. It hadn't. The next message we received told us the restaurant was 'busier than usual and the food would be with us at 22.35. The food arrived with an apology from the delivery driver at 22.20. When we opened the food it was almost cold, the rice was sitting in a puddle of rice water in its container. The curries were very very watery and the chicken was riddled with little bones. The meal, in short, was inedible. We were advised to enquire online about getting money back if we were dissatisfied. We enquired and received a text this morning saying that we weren't entitled to any refund because - you guessed it - the restaurant was busier than usual. The restaurant ,then is happy to charge premium prices for awful, watery food with its only justification being that they were busy running the business they set out to run. These people have a disgusting customer ethic, terrible cold food and no idea of service. A very expensive and disappointing waste of time. Please don't order from them. They will con you or at least disappoint you. There can be no justification for the rubbish we received last night nor the manner in which we received it. BEWARE!!

What a shambles... Ordered food at 7.45pm for it to be delivered at 9pm which already included an increase of 25mins due to NYE. However ended up collecting it myself. I finally sat down to eat 10.30pm. Took 3 hours to cook some simple dishes. When I arrived at the takeaway I was greeted by 3-4 angry customers who had same issue. Phone lined had been disconnected which just meant if you rang you’d get an engaged dial tone. Apparently they had 6-8 delivery drivers but based on the feedback they didn’t have the foggiest idea where they were. No compensation was offered. Excuses were made - : 2 mins your food would be ready : your food just being packed : the delivery driver took it but we can’t get through to him Food was acceptable however the saag paneer simply had mozzarella grated on top. Definitely not authentic. I won’t order again and the fact that they couldn’t manage customers expectations just shows lack of professionalism.

Horrendous company. Avoid. After a 3 hour delay, and having paid already, food did not turn up. On New Year Eve!! Wasted most of the night waiting with starving wife and kids! Phones engaged all night, apart from once when clearly a worker picked up the phone by mistake; only to then lie and tell me our food was on its way and would be 10 min. Waited for a further hour and now they are closed. They have basically stolen £50 from me and do not care. The last meal we had from them was cold and late, so should have learnt our lesson. DO NOT GO NEAR THIS COMPANY

Food was lovely however... Had to wait an extra 15 minutes to collect the food after getting there in time. It might sound s small thing but when the original pick up time was only 20 minutes that's quite a way out, and I'd rather have spent the extra 15 minutes at home rather than in a waiting area with others.

Well ordered here couple weeks ago and it was best indian I had in my life cant fault it hot good quality food on time..... Ordered again today what a disaster discount voucher dint apply food was 45 mins late forgot some my order nan bread over done rice was cold . Maybe stop taking the orders keep with quality of food ur cooking dont take orders cant handle never again all over place .

Shocking delivery tonight , online order placed at 6.30pm food arrived 8.45pm . The wait time states 60 mins not 2 & 1/4 hours . When it finally arrived the popadoms were soft , we ordered no salad , salad was in the bag. All the food required reheating which meant we did not eat until just after 9.00pm , I did ring to find out where our order was and all I got was it’s on its way . When it got here the driver said sorry for being late, well frankly it’s just not good enough, saying sorry won’t make us order again from you . Customer going else where. Would not recommend a delivery from here .

Have been a regular customer for 10 years, but this place goes gone seriously down hill. Looks like has lost its way, with no interest in customers, quality or service.

They must of been very busy last night as the food arrived on time but it was just luke warm and had to be re-heated a little - we must of been last on the delivery route. The quality of the food was good but hardly any spice in the Madras which was unusual. The portions are great as the mains come in the deep fill metal containers, compared to the shallow plastic ones you recieve from other takeaways. I would order again but not on a Saturday night as they clearly can't keep up the quality in line with demand.

Cancelled our online order with no explanation. Shame because food is normally excellent.

Delivery was earlier than expected, although the 2 chicken tikka masala’s that were delivered had a play dough smell from them and tasted horrible was not appetising at all and we threw it away shortly after and it has made my friend ill. 👎🏼

Food not that bad but service needs to improve,

From the time we walked in until the time we walked out ,staff were miserable and abrupt, felt we were rushed to order as soon as we walked in we were seated asked if we would like a drink and what starter we wanted, popadoms were given to all 12 of us even when only 4 people had otdered them ,waiter didn't ask what the rest of us wanted. Main meal order was taken currys came out , 4 of us again had to wait for our rice by which time curry was cold . Food was of average quality will not go back again.

Very nice food and staff very good atmosphere

This was a brilliant curry house until recently! We had to complain and then we were offered a free dish on our next order, this was then honoured however arrived crushed and in the bottom of the bag, with one meal cold.... we were advised to microwave the cold meal and. We can eat the little bit left in the dish of the crushed meal while a new one was sent out to us! After a further hour and 2 people out of 3 eating we called to chase our meal where we were advised that a delivery man had tried to call however we had sworn at him and advised we didn’t want the meal.... this was not the case and were accused of lying despite asking them to check their delivery drivers phone records to show this had not been the case..... AVOID AT ALL COSTS THEY HAVE GONE DOWN HILL AND THEY ARE NOT NICE TO DEAL WITH!

1.9 miles on delivery... Arrived cold and with warm pop... Personally think it was expensive for what we had....

Ordered a curry for collection on Friday told it would be 30 to 40 mins, turned up and waited a further 40 mins. All 2 members of staff were running around like headless chickens, multiple people waiting, generally poor service no updates as to when we may expect it, everyone was getting upset with some heated exchanges. Eventually got it but have better things to do with my time. I wont be going again.

My partners son took us out to dinner last night and we went to the kalkata club to eat. The food was excellent but the service was very fast and abrupt. We would have liked more time to deliberate.

Delivery was slow. The driver angrily and very rudely called me as he couldn't find my house. He was furious and demanding I give him directions "now". Food was ok but cold. would avoid

I am sat reading the awards for this restaurant, which were either voted for by the friends and family of the restaurant, or more likely, a damming statement on the standard of Indian food in this area. We ordered a spicy dish with tamarind, which did come through and the Chicken was dry. The naan was cold, and when we sent it back, they put it in the microwave. The samosas were not lovingly prepared by the kitchen, they were factory produced and far from what you might hope for. The sheek kebab was tasteless and lemon incapable of producing one drip. All in all the service was lack luster, no one asked if we enjoyed our meal, no one apologised for the cold food and there was a drama when we payed using Amex. All in all it was a dismal dreary experience.

Booked a table... The guy that served is was disinterested Had the Poppadoms and a pint (flat pint) then walked out! Was treated like a drunk in a kebab shop I've spent a lot of money there over the years.. But never again

Food good, however, some of the order was wrong. Not an issue as mistakes do happen and a replacement was sent. Not impressed though when we recieved a seperate phone call asking for us to return the extra food when the new food was delivered. We had no intent of eating the wrong order and the food would not be reused. An inference perhaps?

We purchased a Groupon voucher for 6 adults and planned a family meal. We arrived at the restaurant and reminded them that we had the voucher (although had already mentioned when booking) only to be informed they no longer accept Groupon vouchers. The voucher was not due to expire for another month so very confused. When we queried this we simply got told they no longer have a deal with Groupon and I will need to take it up with them. Groupon were not aware of this agreement ending and even provided the link showing the voucher could still be booked.

We had a groupon voucher in date and on ordering our food were told that the restaurant had stopped their contract with groupon so we were not allowed to use the voucher. Surely for good customer care In dated vouchers should be honoured. Still awaiting to hear back from groupon for a refund!!!

Late, cold and tasteless. Hardly any meat in the curries and biryani was pretty much pilau rice with chicken shavings Much better food and value at other local Indian restaurants.

Great selection of food. Had starter and main and could not fit in desert. Very filling. Really tasty and good quality. Would go back again. A+

We have ordered from here several times and have always been impressed with the food. However the last 2 times we have been to collect and had a very lengthy wait despite ordering before hand. They gave us a time the food would be ready and yet 30 mins later we were still waiting. 3 times they asked the name of the order and I dont believe the order had been put through until we arrived to collect.

Empty restaurant & food arrives cold!!! Went last night (Wednesday) and only had one table filled with around 10 guests. Sat down to eat, spoke to waiter and said the place had been recommended by another curry house in gloucester, so here I am. Waiter was very friendly, but never saw him again at my table unfortunately. Ordered food, and waited for the 4 Popadoms and pickle tray to arrive. It arrives, I eat and start to read the reviews on the place. Mixed bag, some good some bad. Hey ho I thought, I've told them they've been recommended by another curry house and restaurant is empty so shouldn't be any issues!! I'm down to the last 2 popadoms and waiter is asking whether I'm ready for main course. Well of course I'm not anyone can see I'm still eating. But I say bring it out if you pushed for time. No no he says we,ll bring it out when you ready. I'd say it was another 10 mins before I'd finished. Plate came... stone cold. Rice came, put it on the plate, put curry on top, tucked into garlic nan... that's when it dawned on me that everything was cold. Nan was cold, rice was cold, curry was warm. Told waiter about it when he asked me and we had a chat!!! There was no way that curry was going back in that kitchen. Seen too many programmes on complaining customers. He did offer another curry, but I declined. He informed me that curry was placed onto hot plate in kitchen, so I told him to put his hand on bottom of my plate and tell me if it was hot!! Well he had no comment then did he. The reviews I read mention that some staff come across as unhelpful and not happy in their work. I can vouch for that on a not busy night. Only the first waiter was friendly. The other 2 i encountered I would have sent home and told them to get there act upto scratch if they wanted their job to carry on tomorrow. So sorry guys... you got it so wrong on a very not busy night. Lovely decor, food taste good, but service and cold food gives it a one star!!!

Una muy buena elección de entrantes. Me encanta el kebab Rheshmi (Shish kebab envuelto en una tortilla). Cebolla Bhajis 4) sabroso y crujiente. Amplia selección de platos principales con una selección de cordero, gambas o pollo en la mayoría de los casos. Un montón de opciones vegetarianas. Las buenas opciones son Mowchak (cremoso y suave) Hariali (picante) Nuestra mejor opción en Gloucester. Los camareros siempre están encantados de vernos y conversar. A pesar de algunas críticas relativamente pobres, decidimos darle una oportunidad. A la llegada, nos dirigieron a nuestra mesa sin pretender "un placer verte", todo muy profesional. Buena selección de platos, pero nunca he visto un menú con tantas advertencias sobre alergias que puedan contener productos lácteos, nueces, supongo que tienen que cubrirse. Todos disfrutamos nuestras comidas, con buenas porciones de platos principales y arroces + naans. El personal hizo lo que tenían que hacer, ni más ni menos, las sonrisas estaban ausentes.

Great food, great atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff

Tuvimos una comida realmente encantadora hoy. El panqueque de gambas es delicioso y en cuanto al pashwari naan, uno de los mejores que he probado. Mi plato principal de gambas también fueron buenos. Mi marido estaba muy contento con su comida. Su plato de pato era bueno y también lo era su comida principal. Oh, pero el personal, ¿por qué no sonríen? Uno de los camareros era realmente bueno y agradable, pero él era el único. La pena realmente quita el brillo de ir allí.

Pedí una comida para llevar de madras de pollo cuando la recogí y la llevé a casa pude ver que era una especie de korma. Me pidieron que lo devolviera y lo cambiaron por las madras. No tuve ninguna disculpa, pero me dijeron que había recogido la incorrecta, a pesar de que en realidad me habían dado desde la cocina.

We liked the meals and used an offer which we were given. My wife loved her choice of food and mine was reasonably good.

Chicken tikka masala was sour had to throw it away, rice was dry overall quality of food was horrible,food was also cold and considering I live 5 minutes away is not acceptable will definitely not order again!!!

I’ve eaten at Spicy Kalkata quite a few times and always found them to offer a good meal!

Excellent service and amazing food

I usually order from the local around the corner but thought I'd give Spicy Kalkata Club a try, order arrived 10 Minutes earlier than originally stated which was a good first impression. Unfortunately, the overall food quality wasn't great, the chips were soggy and cold, and the Passanda contained 90% sauce, 10% Chicken, the chicken was tough and not particularly pleasant. I'll be sticking with the local around the corner in Churchdown next time...

La comida media una vez que llegó. Un personal grosero muy directo al hacer el pedido, parecía que todo era una tarea para ellos. Mal servicio de atención al cliente, en un momento tuve que levantarme e ir al bar a tomar una copa, ya que nadie estaba esperando en nuestra mesa, sin embargo, el personal estaba parado alrededor. Cuando llegó la factura al final de la comida, el miembro del personal le tendió la mano y dijo bruscamente "tarjeta". No volveremos y no lo recomiendo.

Not usually one for writing reviews but this food was so bad I felt compelled to let potential customers know. Please avoid this place at all costs the food is not even acceptable for animals.

Aparecí con otras 9 personas sin reserva y me alojaron de inmediato. El orden fue variado y todos disfrutamos. Tuve el tikka jalfrezi y con arroz con ajo. Fue uno de los mejores curries que he tenido en mucho tiempo. A un precio muy razonable. Sin duda comer aquí la próxima vez que esté en la zona!
