First time Ordering a takeaway from here tonight and the staff were friendly when I rang in and placed my order. Food was delicious and the price is very good compared to some other restaurants which can be rather pricey!! 5 star * thank you

(VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE) I ordered a takeaway online and asked if they could make my food spicy. The man I spoke to refused and said putting a chilli in my food was cross contamination and it’s against food regulations and would give me diarrhoea. I couldn’t believe what he was saying to me on the phone. I also spoke to someone else when picking up my food he said it’s fine there should be no problem with ordering and eating spicy food. It’s all because of his personal opinion. I spoke with him on the phone and later on when asked to speak to manager he refused to put the manager on. I’ve never known someone to have such a problem with making Indian food spicy. NEVER ordering from there again sooo RUDE 😡 . There always has to be that one person who lets the restaurant down for no reason but their own personal opinion, I’m the one ordering food and eating it. How bizarre. Very disappointed.

The service is friendly and efficient, but you are always made to feel welcome and the atmosphere is really pleasant and relaxed. The food is consistently good and the menu varied. This is a place to relax with family and friends and not worry about breaking the bank. The Balti Hut is excellent value and operates a “bring your own alcohol” policy, meaning you can buy wine or beer from the Coop across the road and bring it in.

Really disappointing meal. Chewy gristly meat in the curry and tiny portions. Chips were hard and dry. Aloof service. Won't be back.

Normally love the food from here but it arrived late and the poppadoms were very stale couldn’t eat them in the end, they also didn’t give us a mint sauce like they usually do when I asked and I don’t agree with paying £1.50 for a pickle tray when I don’t like any of the other sauces, disappointed as normally love it

Dined in, i had previously been put off by some reviews from the past. My meal was quite quite scrumptious in every way. Couldn't fault it ,will be back for more very soon.

Ordered over the phone for my birthday, ordered for a group of 11. Food was there within the hour and even got a few extra bits which we hadn't ordered. Absolutely beautifully tasting and the help on the phone navigating allergies was amazing. Really do recommend, I wouldnt order from anywhere else

This was a eveing out with girlfriemds. Only 3 of us. From the start we were made to feel very unwelcome from one guy on the front desk. He didn't like that we parked at the front of the restaurant so we moved the car 3 spaces along. He the sat us right at the back of the restaurant, I know we were the only 3 thee there. 2 ladies left as we sat down. He never welcomed us and as we ordered he wasn't very contentive at all. First questioning why we wanted a large plate for the dinner then basicly tutting whist giving us the plate. Isn't want to refill the pickle tray and took the popadoms away before we had finished He turned the music off so I turned my Spotify on. We were just felt so unwelcome If you 'the baltihut" do it want seated customers paying for food then please just shut. Not a pleasent evening at all. If it wasn't for good friends then tonight would have been totally ruined. We are local residence and I'm all for supporting our local business but after tonight I will not sit in your restaurant for a long time. So sad. Doesn't take anything to have a smile and be polite.

Average British Indian food. Nothing bad but nothing special, too. We asked for a recommendation and we were recommended a similar curry to which we had ordered. Despite asking, "Isn't it similar to what we have already ordered?" The waiter responded."No." And it was the exact same thing, but 1 with a bit more chilli. Fairly outdated decor. Isn't a problem as such. Fairly clean. But the food warmers have minor curry stains. It isn't too hard to clean them properly.

We visit this local restaurant quite often. Great tasting food; excellent friendly service. Would recommend you ring to book to guarantee a table.

Today is the 1st time I visited the restaurant to have dinner. Each food was so tasty. Above everything behavior of each and every staff including the owner was so nice, I got amazed by that. I will come again for sure. I would like to request all the people out there to visit the restaurant to taste the food

Everyone is giving this a 4-star review to 5-star review but let me tell you if you have a takeaway it is one of the worst ever I could not tell chicken from lamb the chicken is frozen and the lamb is indescribable I have never had work everything tastes like salt there was no Spice flavour whatsoever I have never had with why ever in the world people give this a 5-star rating I will never know

Our favourite Indian restaurant! No matter where we have lived in Gloucester over the years (City Centre, Hempsted, Quedgeley, Hardwicke) we have used this Indian and have not found better!

Not much to look at but a little diamond inside. Fabulous food! Be careful of the fresh chillies hidden in some dishes 😱. Bring your own alcohol and soft drinks. Handy having Co-op opposite. Good humoured waiters coped with 3 generations and raised a smile from all. Would definitely recommend.

Loved our delivery... Nice to be to identify individual meals with whole fresh vegetables. Peppers, tomatoes and spinach as such. On time, and on spec.

First and a last time ordering at Balti HUt today as our favourite Polash wasn’t open till 6pm. The place takes cards yet when they have taken our order they said they prefer cash so we had to go to withdraw some money. This wasn’t a problem as such however kitchen won’t start preparing your food until you pay. Funny enough after we have paid some guy who ordered over the phone walked in and had no problems of paying by card with DIFFERENT server. Our order was chicken pasanda, chicken balti, rice, saag aloo and naans. Food is ok but nothing to rave about, just a step above from ready melas. Both the meals tasted the same and the dominant taste was onion, not what we expect from Indian. Ok for mid week treat but won’t be returning as the staffs attitude stinks (one member in particular)

The chicken biryanie was awful, I couldn't eat it. It consisted of what appeared to be a handful of frozen veg, with a gloopy, really thick gravy like and tasteless sauce. The rice wasn't so bad but the chicken was sparse and dry. The 2 samosas were the smallest I've ever seen and definitely not worth £1.47 each! On a plus note, my partner loved his vindaloo and ate the lot. Which is why I gave a generous 2 stars.

Best curry house in gloucester, great food & service, it's BYO drink so if you run out then just pop over the road to the co-op or tesco express.

When a friend told me they had ordered from here for a meal for us I went on to tripadvisor and horrified what I found. I used to belong to Gloucester curry club and comments like these are a red flag. Meal meal was what i would describe as Uncle Bens out of a jar, no taste, chicken over cooked and Bombay Aloo just greasy spuds. What a joke!!!!!!!!!

I was a bit uneasy after reading some of the recent reviews, but pleased to report a great success overall. I ordered at 5:30ish on just eat, delivery was promised for 6:20-6:40. Food arrived bang on time, driver had a really cool hat. Everything was well packaged and portions generous. Quality was good ingredients and taste all good. I would order from here again.

Always go to Balti Hut for Indian takeaway as I find my order to be consistently good and ordering directly on their website you get a small discount. They always seem to throw in a free poppadom, salad and mango chutney and delivery time is pretty good. Touch wood, never had any problems

Hi we have always used balti hut for the last two years always found the food fresh and tasty but for the last six months it has gone downhill And gone very expensive the quality of the food is just not there no more the curry is very watery and very quickly cooked literally no waiting time shame as it was always a good restaurant we’ve always used it mainly takeaway in the last few months but gone downhill dreadful

Ordered food on the just eat app at 5:30pm, by 8:15 still hadn’t received the food, was trying to call for over 30 minutes and over 100 attempts to get through. Finally decided to drive to the place to find out what was going on, got through on the phone on the way to be left waiting for a further 10 minutes while the guy went to the kitchen to ‘find out what was going on’ by the time he had got back I was at the restaurant. Found out the food hadn’t even left yet, this is now 8:45pm, over 3 hours waiting for delivery and it wasn’t even on the way! Waited in the restaurant for a further 5 minutes until the guy came back with the food that was luke warm at best. Was offered a bottle of coke and £5 refund, absolutely terrible service, awful food, nobody knew what was going on, no real apology, will not be going there ever again. It’s a shame because I have been before this and it seems like they have really let their customer service and quality go. One star is generous, it’s zero from me. Worst service I’ve received anywhere ever

Takeaway ordered via the website. Was ready more or less on time, but as I got home I got a call saying they'd given me an incorrect dish. So I went back to get the right one. Then they gave me another incorrect dish, but kindly offered to cook me the right one if I waited for another 15-20 minutes. I declined. Getting one order wrong, well it happens. To get the correction wrong as well is just bad. Unfortunately I don't think we will be back for a while.

Food order arrived 45 minutes late and all the boxes of food were squashed like pancakes as if someone had stood on or fell on the bag all the food was all in the bag I would upload a picture if possible but can't on this website. Called the owner he said he would give us a free meal tomorrow which I deemed unaccaptable as i already paid for one meal which went in the bin. Then he out the phone down on me. I can't rate the food but would suggest everyone avoid this food outlet at all costs

Chicken was raw we only ate a tiny bit and binned the rest my husband was sick for 3 days after.

I am surprised to see a lot of negative reviews as I visited with 3 friends for a birthday celebration and we enjoyed our meals which were all different. The naan breads were large and we could have had 2 rather than 3. There was a bit of confusion with the drinks we ordered ( and we were quite surprised the they had no lime - especially with a Coop opposite ) but it wasn’t a huge issue. We found the meals to all be good value for money and one diner was cheerfully given some additional green chillies on request! Service was with a smile - thank you to all the staff!

Order a curry at around 530pm turned up about 630pm. However had been given the wrong curry. Rang and told them, they said they would bring it straight away, it didn't turn up until at 8:05pm.

My friend (a local) brought me to Balti Hut for a last minute slap up curry. We probably weren't hungry enough for what we ordered, essentially a banquet of food. Eat out to help out made our eyes even larger. Food came out quick and those onion bhajis were crispy, tasty balls of heaven. The naan was quite doughy but still had a crisp to it, so it passed the test. Curries hit the spot, Tarka dhal perfect consistency for mopping with bread. Very generous in portion sizes, and nice blokes working there. Decor was fantastic, I love the feeling I'm in a place that has been there for decades, to me it shows quality and history and reminds me of the millennium. Thanks for the grub Balti hut!

Possibly the worst curry I have ever eaten, we ordered for our family , the onion baji had no taste were over cooked and dry , the tikka masala was so sweet it was inedible as was the korma , our children enjoy curry normally but we had to throw the entire meal in the bin, the other dishes chicken dansak and dopiaza were just about acceptable. It was £45 pounds wasted , when we phoned to complain they Offered 25%off the next order , needless to say we will not be ordering from there again

Another first time order for us in lockdown. Good value on the set meal, including starters and mains. Lamb balti very good. Definitely worth a try

I really should have learnt my lesson. I have used this restaurant many times both as restaurant and takeaway. Towards the end of last year I had a few experiences where takeaway order was not complete but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. However takeaway today was again short of a number of orders and when I phoned to complain was offered a credit towards future order. I did not want a credit, I wanted the items that I had ordered and paid for as they were an integral part of my meal. After a lengthy conversation it was apparent there was nothing constructive they could do, so I ended up being out of pocket for the cost of the items. It is such a shame as the food is great, but their immediate response to any customer query is defensive. I will not be returning which is a shame as I estimate I spend over £750 a year with them. If you are not prepared to take customer service seriously then I am not prepared to give you my custom.

I am very upset the way I was just treated on the phone we have previously ordered from here numerous of times, the guy answered the phone he said hold on a minute then heard phone ringing in back ground for him to then answer that and take there order he then came back to me there was a very loud noise in the back ground he took my address twice to then ask me to hold on again by then I thought what the hell is going on he took another call while I was still waiting to then come back to me and tell me they can’t deliver to my address bare in mind we’ve ordered from there 6 times before well I’m disgusted with the way I was treated and would never use them again very poor attitude

Sadly I feel very disappointed with the takeaway we received last night after many years of good food last night the food was warm not hot and very watery 5 small pieces of chichen and a very watery sauce in the chicken nairle also recipe for chicken chat and garlic chilli chicken has changed don't know if owners have changed but not nice feel sad spent £74 on the food not to happy about that even one of my friends said is this from a different takeaway to the one I usually use that said it all! last order from me for a while £6.99 per meal was to expensive for such a small amount of meat

Absolutely appalling.Left standing for 20 minutes.Staff took other people’s order before mine.Eventually took my order and then advised there would be over a 30 minute wait.I fully appreciate they must be busy but please acknowledge me when I’m stood at your counter and perhaps advise that there will be a delay?I used to be a regularI’ll give it a miss for a while.

Lovely food and having the option of BYO is great to keep the cost down. Really nice food. Would recommend the pickles and pompadom as the mint sauce is lovely.

The food was an hour and a half late, we rang the restaurant twice and the first time was told it was on its way with the driver, then after 40 minutes of nothing I rang up again and I wad told it had just left, so i questioned why I was told it had already left and why I was lied to and he had no answer. they agreed to refund £5 due to it being so late, but then it still took another 45 minutes to arrive. when it finally arrived the food was cold and the naan breads were rock hard and one of them was only half there too. The salad was warm and also the curries were bland and watery. Really dissatisfied and disappointed. Never eating here again! Rang the restaurant and requested a full refund.

Very average. Nothing special or unique about any of the dishes and they all tasted the same. Meals were all like warm and not piping hot. There are many better options in the area.

We used Balti Hut (via just eat) to order our food for New Years Eve. Having never ordered any food from there we were a little hesitant but we needn’t have worried. The food was simply amazing. I love East India Cafe and Prithvi in Cheltenham to eat out but for a take away this was fantastic!!Delivery - said 1 hour but arrived after 50 minutes. Great stuff Just Eat / Balti Hut especially as NYE. Overall amazing food / delivery and can’t wait for our next one.

Lovely food delivered before estimated times. This was not our first takeaway/delivery and we have tried a few different dishes all of which have been first class.

Ordered collection, to arrive to a man with very poor customer service skills. Rude was an understatement my friend wanted to pay for hers separately so said what she ordered and was bluntly told that what she had ordered wasn’t ordered, no option to actually give her what she definitely ordered. Once settled, food was then shoved at us without a thank you and back home we went. To then find the chicken pakoras over cooked outside and still raw batter inside. I then dived up the korma to find 6 very small pieces of chicken but a lot of sauce. Will definitely not be going back because of these reasons
