Taste Of India in Gloucester

Bit disappointing. I've got bad eye sight. strength of curry could be made brighter on you app page. My Goa is ok but having it with lots of Maya due it being made with hot sauce

Cheese on naan had not melted. Grated cheese was just plonked in the middle. Butter chicken was not what I expected.

Food was awesome, customer service 10/10.

Delivery time was fine. Except the driver rang to say he was outside my house. He wasn’t. He was outside a different house 200 meters away and on a completely different road. When I told him on the phone he wasn’t outside he wouldn’t accept this. I had to go out and walk around to try and find him. When he eventually saw me he drove to me at the end of the road. I said he was on the wrong road and pointed directly at the road sign he just shrugged his shoulder. This isn’t the fault of the restaurant

Me and my friend visited the Taste of India tonight, we specifically chose the restaurant as it was on the tastecard app with buy one starter & main, get one free, and we were on a budget as well as it being in a convenient location between us. We ordered our food (one of the dishes a biryani so didn't order additional rice) but the Manager came and told us to be able to get the deal we had to order more sides, which we did as despite not wanting them and this not being on the listed t&C's on the tastecard app we didn't want to argue. The food was 50/50 tasty Pakora and chicken tikka biryani but poor bhajis and peshwari curry. When we were asked how the food was we were polite as didn't want to offend anyone (but thought we would order differently next time!!) During our meal the waiter knocked my glass of red wine which he was very apologetic about and I reassured him it was an accident and not to worry but if he didn't mind topping up what he had spilt and giving me a tissue to clear up what was spilt I'd be grateful. When the bill came though we noticed despite only ordering and drinking 2 small glasses of red wine we had been charged £9 a glass despite the menu saying £5.95 with no price for a large. After the accumulation of being told to order more, the mediocre food (and poor ambience as nobody else was seated in the restaurant all night) we decided to say something about the over charging. The manager firstly insistently told us we had drunk large glasses of wine and then fetched 175ml glasses which he argued were large glasses. We told him we weren't asked if we wanted large or small glasses of wine, were driving so only wanted small and had pointed to the £5.95 glass on the menu. He then aggressively started arguing that I'd spilt the glass of wine anyway and they had topped it up. When I said the waiter had spilt it and been apologising to me all evening he accused me of knocking it over and blaming the waiter and said he had watched me do it??! The poor embarrassed waiter told him that it was him that knocked it but he still kept shouting at us about various things. Really not a pleasant experience at the end. In view of this attempt to add extras on the bill we neither ordered or consumed as well as the aggressive accusations, mediocre food and poor ambience we would definitely not return or recommend.

I loved the food here. It was hot and atmosphere was cozy. My only feedback would be, as a person who loves spicy food alot, even if i tell the chefs to make it spicy it tastes sweet, on top of that i am vegetarian so there are very less vegetarian options if you could improve on those factors it would be lovely. Rest it is lovely place and staff is very polite.

Immediately after entering the restaurant the staff were so attentive to all of our needs. It felt so genuine and so welcoming. Then the food started to flow. Absolutely incredible, the chicken tikka and keema rice were scrumptious. Really can’t wait to go back again

A couple of us were planning to attend the European Rugby Challenge Cup match between Gloucester and the Scarlets , and thopught we would have something to eat before getting to the ground at Kingsholm. We booked a table for two at Taste of India, but we got lost en route, and, when we arrived 35 minutes late, we were worried about being late for our table - and also about the possibility of being late for the match. No problem! - The staff were friendly, welcoming and reassuring, and (although they were busy) they made sure our order was swiftly presented to our table. The food was of an acceptable standard (hot tasty and not too spicy). It was just what we wanted - but most of all it was the friendly welcome and attention we received from the staff that really stood out! It certainly put us at ease. Thankyou! So, apart from the result of game (Glaws won, 31-7) it was a great evening - and we will be back at The Taste of India on a future occasion.

We ordered a takeaway and was told it would be 35 minutes which was great. We only live 5 minutes away. . But when we got home all the food was cold and the chips was soft and wet.been sweating in the bag, they went straight in the bin.. The chicken portions are dishes will rather small we had the same dish twice one dish at 4 pieces one dish at three pieces very disappointed in the amount of meat in a £9 dish. ... anything had to be reheated which isn't the best on a takeaway especially in Indian. I was a bit disappointed but I will give it another go maybe.

Delivery time kept changing. Food arrived cold. Guess that may be due to delivery not resturant. Unfortunately we received the incorrect naans. Ordered Garlic & Cheese naans but received Coriander naans.

Great Indian restaurant, table of 4 on a friday evening. The staff were friendly and the food top notch! If you are vegetarian they provide a good selection of curries and unlike other places they arent just the usual mixed veg in a curry sauce. 2 of our party was vegetarian and both loved their meals. Very impressed and will visit again. Great job guys 😁

It's a friendly place for a takeaway. The staff is very polite and efficient. I had a Lamb Korma, and due to my dairy allergy, the staff ensured that the Korma was adapted to suit my diet, which I really appreciate. Tasty food, good service, and reasonably priced. Would love to dine in one day.

The time on the app kept moving back and back and I rang the restaurant and they said the man picked up the order 30 minutes ago and it was only a 10 min drive so was confused why it took so long

I have been coming to this Indian for years. We ordered tonight because it’s my birthday and we had £17 off the stamp on just eat. Taste of India immediately cancelled my order. I ordered again, they cancelled again. The reason they cancelled is because they do not want us to have the £17 off which we rightly deserve. They are rude on the phone and are liars. I am actually gobsmacked that after all these years of going to them they actually treat us like this. On speaking to just eat they said that they never reject orders it’s the takeaways that do. Avoid at all costs!

Both curry’s were weird, one was really salty. We both couldn’t finish them

the order was early & I'm grateful. however the food just wasn't right at all. we didn't eat it. both of our meals were different yet appeared to both be the same sauce, onions, 1 piece of tomato & 1 piece of red pepper. it really sadly wasn't tasty at all & we didn't eat it. I'm sorry but we'll be giving Taste of India a miss in future.

Have always had fantastic food, but today was different. The food was hot in temperature, but on the bland side, and each meat dish had at the most, 4 small chunks of meat. Realy surprised and disappointed. Not your usual high standards, and wish I'd cooked my own supper

Worst food i ever had from uk . I think the prawns was live in the biriyani ,there was no taste for rice or prawns .I was really starving and i went there and i got live king prawns it wasn’t cooked properly there was no flavour of biriyani not even a kind of taste od proper rice .this is only just about one item I ordered.

Food has been good in the past, but everytime I've been I've found myself waiting and waiting and waiting for my food. The last time I was there, we left and found food elsewhere, because it was an hour (we timed it) between getting the popadoms and us getting fed up and leaving. Who knows how much longer we might have had to wait. The food, when we have got it, has been good, but every time we've been there we've had to wait an age for the food. What a waste of time...

5 small bits of lamb in lamb dhansak, tikka roshini ordered lamb but received chicken

Was disappointing. 1 of my Bhajis were not cooked all the way through. Cheese not melted in the naan breads. And the Balti garlic chicken was bland. Had this curry few months ago and it tastes much better.

I've enjoyed every single takeaway I've had from here (and I've had a variety of dishes). Food is extremely fresh and tasty. Whilst you may be waiting longer for, for example, tandoori chicken, you know it's going to be freshly cooked and not just reheated! The staff are extremely polite and friendly. My go to place for Indian food in Gloucester!

Currys lovely, Onion Bhajis nice and crispy. Disappointed with the Naans. Not cooked enough on outside and Cheese not melted inside and cold.

Unfortunately would not recommend. I’m really shocked my parents suggested ordering a takeaway from here tbh. We spent £68 in total. We ordered 3 starters and got one small yogurt dip and a tiny bag of soggy salad. We got onion salad only because we specifically ordered it, spent £5 on four papadums and only litteraly got 4 and the food didn’t really taste that great. If you fancy onion bhajis then just be aware that you get two. Seriously. I would suggest ordering from somewhere else.

While the food was good, the delivery was terrible. I phoned the restaurant to enquire on my order and they couldn't provide any information as it was a "Just Eat" order. When it eventually arrived, the driver said there was several drivers waiting at the restaurant and he had to go do another order because this one was taking so long. Will not order from here again

Usually very good but disappointed with the monk fish starter. Very dry and I'm convinced it was salmon.

It was very quiet, in fact we were the only people dining in but service was great. Food of a good quality. Especially liked the monkfish starter. We often call in here if we are in Gloucester and are never disappointed. It has had a refurb since we first started coming. Modern with Indian music. Only lacked atmosphere because of lack of diners but it was early on a Tuesday evening. Certainly recommend.

Ordered food for delivery at 9pm. App said food was delivered at 21:11. We had no food. My partner happened to go outside for a cigarette and found the food left outside the front door at 21:40. Was stone cold. No one had rung the bell, just left it

Disappointing I'm afraid. Ordered tandoori fish, which specified trout. Wasn't trout, was some rather plain white fish somewhat overwhelmed by onions, not a great deal of flavour. Vegetable chaat was okay, mostly potato. The puri bread was hugely overpriced at £3.50, as was the plain naan at £3.75.

I ordered a Jalfrezzi as I am familiar with this dish after home cooking several myself. I wanted to compare. When I got home I discovered a very watery and very pale yellow coloured concoction. Two pieces of hard onion, inedible. No green or red peppers, no taste, very mild heat. A good amount of pre-cooked chicken cubes, but this was not a Jalfrezzi. It was not as ordered and paid for. I will never go back to this establishment.

Some of the worst service I've ever had anywhere. I accept the good reviews on here may reflect eating in service but for the delivery service which I received; this restaurant is a fraud. The grilled fish was barely there & the carton was filled with onions, similarly, the tandoori chicken was a pathetic portion & space filled with onion & grease; the mushrooms were just sludge. Pathetic food. I wouldn't recommend it. A regrettable choice.

Don't go here on the 2 for 1 deal on tastecard. Phoned ahead to say I had one, confirmed on entry that they will accept it. Bill came of just shy of £100 between 2 (x4 drinks in total) and was given £12:65 discount. I was pointed to some small print on the menu and it appears only one thing I ordered was discounted despite there being nothing on tastecard terms and conditions. Paid it! Won't go back again! Very deceptive! Service was slack too. Was forced to order immediately then when I asked for more time could not get a waiter despite several mouching about in the background. May have been worth it for half the price! Ah well lesson learnt.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years. In fact I had my 40th Birthday meal here. Excellent food. Great atmosphere. A little quiet at times, so if you like a ‘buzz’, may be a bit on the quiet side. But I have never had a bad meal here. One of my top 3 Indian restaurants.

Food was 45 minutes late the manager said it had nothing to do with him it’s all up to Just Eat, wasn’t helpful at all. The food was cold when it was finally delivered but when reheated very tasty. Such a shame on the nearly hour wait and the lack of respect from the manager not giving a care for the late delivery saying it was all down to Just Eat!
