Not sure what went wrong tonight, usually a reliable restaurant but did not enjoy tonight experience. Poppadoms soft, Kurma as too perfumed to eat (too much chutney added ?). Literally only 2 bits of Tandoori prawns in the starter and they were burnt. As if that wasn’t enough, it took nearly 2 hrs between order and delivery, while app kept says delivery by 9.05pm, it finally turned up at 9.45pm, which was after the restaurant had closed, so couldn’t ring to complain.

My naan bread was missing the chicken tikka main was like a starter. Gone downhill

This excellent Curry house has been here for over 20 years now and has always been superb. Over the last couple of years if anything it's become even better.. Ali (the owner) makes you welcome immediately and the quality of food and service is always spot on. 100% recommended.. not the cheapest curry in Solihull but maybe the best! Enjoy ! 😊

Absolutely pathetic food quality!! The biryani was miles apart from an authentic biryani. It seemed as if some curry sauce and some meat chunks were added to rice. It had no flavour. The mixed grill had two pieces of chops that had firm meat and needed to pulled hard to be taken off the bone. Definitely not authentic food!

Nice big portions very nice food

Very disappointing meal here today Ordered a chicken dansak…. Described as “sweet, sour and hot” It was only sickly sweet (containing more sugar than spice). It was just like chicken in a custard like sauce. Sent it back and it came back just a sweet but with some chilli added….it was awful. According to the waiter “that’s how we make it here” Sent it back for another dish. My friend ordered a “kulcha naan” This was just just like a pizza….all the onions and veg were on top of the naan and not incorporated in with the naan dough. A disappointing evening. This is a Bangladesh restaurant, trying to be a Indian restaurant Overall it’s was a diss

Ordered food at 6pm even thou I’m only 5mins away the food took till 8pm to arrive and then it was cold all started were cold.

Visited Spicewood whilst on trip visiting family in Birmingham. Whilst visiting Birmingham decided to have the balti combo. The food was really good and the service was exceptional. It was also good value for money. The only negative observation, was that the fire exit along the side of the building appeared to be obstructed by a wooden batten.

My meal as always was gorgeous 😀 such a lovely place to eat from, always give 100% in food quality, and service.

I used to eat here consistently. I stopped as there were occasions they were late with delivery and when I called they were rude. Ordered food today as my new usual was closed I ordered food at 6.55. It’s 8.15 I ring to say where is my food the boss tells me it’ll be out for delivery in around 10 mins, by the time my food arrives it will have been nearly two hours since ordering. No compensation no offer of anything to apologise. Absolute joke.

Food was nice. But was missing all the salad to go with the starters. I have ordered in the past and not had any issues before. We got 3 sauces with 3 starters but nothing else.

Food was nice however if arrived stone cold , I get that sometimes they have multiple deliveries at once and so it can require heating up but I’m this case there was no heat at all.

Firstly, the food here is really good. I eat in the restaurant quite regularly. But ordering online for the first time was a bad experience. The order arrived with a main dish missing. I then wasted five minutes convincing them that I had indeed ordered two main dishes. I was then asked if I'd be happy getting the missing dish next time I ordered. Of course not. There are two people waiting to eat. We then had to wait 30 minutes for the replacement to arrive. And for our troubles... a couple of poppadoms. Very poor customer service. The food however, is still excellent.

Although a Asian restaurant, not fit for Asian taste. Food delivery was late, there were no taste to the food at all just colouring added to the mix grill. Even thoughI especially asked for the food to be ‘medium to hot spice wise’ no effort was made whatsoever to cater to Asian taste buds. Will never order from here again.

Only draw back, I didn’t receive all my order. It’s not the first time it has happened.

We first tried Spicewoods around the time it opened however many years (decades) ago that may now be, and we haven't had a reason to look for an alternative since. Simply delicious.

We have always enjoyed dining in this restaurant but during the current lockdown we have been using the takeaway delivery service. We have often found that Indian takeaways don't travel well. However we were really pleased to find that our favourite dishes from this restaurant are just as good when delivered to our home. The food is freshly cooked so it takes a little while, but has always been delivered within the promised time. Excellent quality and also generous portion sizes.

Just to say thank you to all the staff at spice woods for providing great service and fantastic food time and time again

We arrived here as a party of 4 and were the first customers to arrive as we had booked a table just as it was opening. The Man who greeted us was nice and friendly and seated us at the table which was fine. The waiter then came over to us and took our drinks order and asked if we wanted any popadoms. We asked for 6 and only received 4. Then our drinks arrived shortly after with the water missing. When the waiter came to clear the poppadoms we asked if we could keep the sauces, he mumbled something and then took them away anyway? The main courses came which was some delay, curries first, then 3-4 mins late rice, then 3-4mins later naan. The food i must say was nice. Tasty but definitely overpriced, having eaten at several curry cuisines i can say this was by far the most expensive. I don't mind paying more if it better quality but it was just the same as other places ive been to before, so nothing special. During our visit, we noticed the tables are still quite close together, even though guests are meant to be sitting at least 1m apart, tables are practically back to back, so no attempt has been made to keep customers at a social distance. Also it seemed the waiter was constantly leaning over us to get things. Our bill for 4 cokes, 4 starters, 4 popadoms, 4 rices, 4 curries, and 3 naan, was very steep at £121. I looked at the menu online before booking and noticed inside it seemed more expensive than what was displayed online? I wasn't impressed to pay £3.50 for a diet pepsi, only to realise it comes out a plastic 2l bottle and tasted flat. There was no conversation of the staff, we didn't feel welcome once seated and felt our experience could've been alot better for the prices that we're charged. No check backs either to see how our food was? When asked for our bill we were still waiting somewhat 15 minutes late, and had even contemplated about just walking out. Eventually we headed over to the bar, and pay there, then we noticed we'd been charged extra for poppaoms we didnt even receive.I would go here again and neither would any of my party. FAR FAR too overpriced, with such poor customer service.

Fancied some where different so chose here The curry tasted like water Rice was full of water The prawn cocktail had no prawns :/ Naan bread wasn’t cooked properly Poppadoms were stale Absolutely gutted as this was the most we spent on a curry in ages so thought it would be really lovely

Can’t comment on the food as I never got to try it! I paid £45 for a Groupon voucher yesterday, rang to book a table and everything was fine until I mentioned the voucher, when I was told very abruptly that they didn’t accept them anymore (even though they’re still live on the app). Reading other reviews, it doesn’t sound as though you’re very well treated if you turn up with a voucher, so we probably had a lucky escape anyway.

Absolutely brilliant as always only down side was no chips in my order but was still amazing!

Although the food was delicious the order was wrong and incomplete. I ordered lamb bhuna and they delivered chicken bhuna. There was no salad with the starters and no poppadoms. Disappointing.

Excellent service and delicious food

I received a message to say the driver was on his way at 7:02pm ready for delivery at 7:15pm. The driver turned up at 7:35pm. We saw him drive past a few times, he obviously did not know where he was delivering to. We got a menu with our order today that says free poppadoms with main meal, we didn’t get any poppadoms. Also i ordered a cheese and garlic naan and got a chilli garlic naan. Which no one ate as it was very spicy and not what we ordered. We had to microwaved curries, chips and onion bhajees as they were cold. It was a shame as we waited over 1 hour and a half from ordering to receiving, as this was the first time this has happened we didnt ring up to complain or get a fresh naan, as long as this is acknowledged as we order regularly and normally get everything we order correctly .

Lovely food.Disappointed as ordered 4 Keema naan we received plain naan.Rang the restaurant and within 20 minutes 4 Keema naans delivered and more sauce and complimentary popadums too! Many thanks would definitely recommend.

Use this place all the time and usually we can’t knock it but yesterday when the food turned up we had to reheat it.the naan was stone and cold and also the rice and the mixed grill my mrs had I understand that they are especially busy atm,but guys that shouldn’t mean standards should slip.

Tasty food, delivered bang on time, if I did have one minor gripe I’d say the naan was rolled a bit thin, more crispy than bread like, but still very edible.

The food at Spicewoods used to be gorgeous, the flavour of our curry’s was good but the chicken was awful. Rubbery and worse than what you’d get in a microwave meal. The chips weren’t great either unfortunately.

First time customer. I’ve eaten Korma for many years from all over the West Midlands and further and never heard of Korma with Mango. Disgusting! Pakora was dry, the chapatti burnt one one side, Tandoori Lamb chops were tiny. Lamb masala arrived as a Lamb and Chicken mixed masala and Naan was over dry.. For the prices charged I was expecting a lot better than what received. Very disappointing meal and most blended up in the bin.

Visited this restaurant on saturday night after driving past this place many times. What have I been missing. Fantastic food, friendly staff and service was excellent. We ordered a sharing platter for starters and it was fantastic. I had a Balti madras which the spices where great. Lovely taste to it and good size portions.

Visited Spicewoods tonight. Food amazing all piping hot. Staff were very friendly and very knowledgeable on their food. Great atmosphere. You can buy your drinks from them and they are also very happy for you to take along your own drinks if you wish to. Great value for money. If you let them know you have a birthday they will play birthday music over the restaurant for all to join in. Well worth a try...

We've tried a number of Asian restaurants around Solihull and beyond, but non match the food quality of Spicewoods. The Manager goes around all the customers, shakes your hand and asks how the meal is. The food is fantastic. Great selection and reasonably priced. Recommended.

As I was walking past to get my car the kitchen door was open out the back and seen 2 chefs standing in side the kitchen smoking a cigarette!! I would have gotten a picture but they seen me as quick as I seen them and they scattered!! I will never ever be eating there again I feel disgusted!!!!

Went here for a takeaway, was greeted with a not a very friendly person on his phone. Anyway never mind that ordered 1 starter 1 curry and nan and rice £18.00 which is expensive for what it was, the starter was straight out of freezer and fried, the curry was nice and tasty bit rice was very greasy. The whole place looks bit tired, carpets are filthy and the seats in waiting part are covered dirt.There is other restaurants in the area which the food is a lot nicer and cheaper, 2 starters 2 mains and 2 nans for £21.00 so wont be coming back.

Rude waiter throughout the meal who took my food off the table before my girlfriends. He was extremely blunt and failed to bring over the bill 40 minutes after we finished so I had to go to the bar to get it and then when I said I wasn’t happy with the service they just asked if I wanted a card machine no apologies or anything.

I went to the spicewoods three weeks ago. I wasn't happy with the food that I got. The waiter wasn't very helpful. I asked for water twice before it was brought over to our table. The bill came and the person who wrote the bill added on extras that we didn't have. I went for a family members birthday. I wouldn't go there again

This Indian restaurant is located in a service road alongside a busy road but parking is available behind the restaurant if you give your registration to the restaurant.

We are regulars at Spicewoods. The food is fantastic. Good variety, great tasting and reasonably priced. You can take in your own drinks, or they do sell alcohol on the premises. Free parking around the side. Enter your reg when you go in. Fabulous service. Highly recommended.

Came for my brothers 40th,12 of us. Food was lovely and fresh and the staff were brilliant. Noticing my niece was hungry while waiting for food brought her out a bowl of chips. Will definitely be visiting again.

Went to Spicewoods yesterday & met up with a friend. We had a super evening. The food was excellent, very tasty. The meals were very generous in size. The waiter service was very good, not rushed. Many thanks to the manager Ali. What a pleasant gentleman. Will I go back to this restaurant? A very definate YES.

Ordered for delivery and asked for extra mint sauce as we'd ordered a few starters. When the food came there was 1 mint sauce for 2 starters and the keema wasn't even in the keema naans, was sitting on top. Called to speak to the manager and kept being asked to repeat what I was saying. Last time we'll be using Spicewoods, have been a regular for a few years but tonight was a joke.

This is a modern Indian and the staff were all friendly - service was swift. The poppadoms were fresh, the dips very tasty and both our mains were very good. They are also licensed - not all Indians around here are, so that is a plus if you want a beer with your rogan josh......

We were honestly surprised with the portions... specially the starters. Some items are Authentic some are general restaurant standard. Sides are very reasonably priced and offers generous portion. Clean restaurant with nice new interior. Definitely worth a visit.

I've always loved Spicewoods but our last 3 takeaways & have been very disappointing & the food not as good as it used to be. Has the chef changed? Is it time for a change of menu? but, to be fair, we had a meal in, & it was great.

I've been here a couple of times and found the service slow, but this time they excelled themselves. We waited an hour for our food. When it eventually came I had to send mine back because it was cold, so I then had to wait even longer. The food was incredibly salty and I was drinking gallons for the rest of the evening. Definitely won't be going again.

We have been to Spicewoods on many occasions and always enjoyed the food and service. But on this last visit we were very disappointed by the service. This was early evening so the restaurant was less than one third full but the service was very slow. When our starters were served to our table it was with little more than a grunt as the plates were put down. Some time later our mains were served by a different waiter but with a similar attitude. We did enjoy our food though and said as much to the waiter when the plates were removed from our table. A similar grunt to response was delivered! We then asked for the bill which eventually arrived. As no one came to our table to enable us to pay the bill, we went to the bar to pay there. None of the three waiters standing at he bar seemed to want to take our money or the 10% tip which we left on the plate. Eventually the bill was paid but not a word of thanks from the staff! As I said at the start of this review, the food is very good but the evening spoilt by poor service.

We have been to Spicewoods quite a few times over the years and always had good service & good food until our latest visit. We were welcomed courteously as usual and shown to our table. So far so good. We ordered poppadoms which were served whilst we looked at the menu. Fine. Ordered starters, mains & bread. A grunt from the waiter. Hmm! After quite a wait the starters arrived with another grunt. Hmm again. After another wait the mains arrived - Grunt! The food was up to its usual good standard but the service let it down. We asked for the bill which was delivered to the table but no one seemed interested in taking our money, so went to the bar to pay. The three waiters at the bar almost ignored us and reluctantly took our payment and the tip. Not a word of thanks. So its thanks, but no thanks from me!

We had a three course meal and drink with a Groupon voucher. Minimal cost to upgrade dishes. Good choice of Indian and Bangladesh food.

How did they get a licence to sell food. You wait over an hour for simple food and then they forget so microwave it. They haven't got a scooby. Mad for money no customer service skills.

This is a great Indian Restaurant in Solihull. If you arrive before 7pm on weekdays you can take advantage of their special offers. They cater well for parties. Good service and always a warm welcome. Parking nearby
