Group of 6 of us went for the first time a couple of weeks ago, had a brilliant evening, delicious food, excellent friendly service. The menu looked a little daunting to start with but the young woman looking after us explained everything. We had a range of dishes, all were very good, and we want to try more. Really enjoyed our evening and will definitely be going back.

Great authentic food, lovely service at a great price. Lovely little find on a cold Tuesday night! Food... great selection. We had the Devil Chicken - sri lankan spice....i like it hot and it packed a lunch :), Beetroot curry for something different, was really tasty! Rice - fluffy and one portion plenty between two Bread with potato masala, really tasty. Have travelled to Sri Lanka, so recognise their pride in using natural spice and flavours. Everything cooked fresh. Family run business and started in Feb23, really hope more people give it a try. Location - you may be put off by the upstairs shop ...dont be! Head downstairs, they have decked it really nicely with the lights. Summary... good value tasty food in a simple setting with lovely staff. You need to try it. :)

Have eaten in and had takeaways. Absolutely authentic Sri Lankan dishes served here. Tonight's delivery was fabulous: Chicken curry, special fried rice, okra, fish cutlets and chapatis. So tasty and so glad to have a Sri Lankan restaurant near to us at last. We'll done guys.

We loved this little gem of a restaurant, The food was delicious the service superb, We tried the Thali was delicious! l A variety of little bowels of various curries, rice and bread. So we went back the next evening and tried the masala dossal and purees with potato curry. It would have been easy to walk past and miss this restaurant right on the harbour, This is a family run restaurant with that special touch, I absolutely recommend this restaurant.

Read about Spices of Lanka in reviews and it's true what people have said about the food. It can be missed though, but there is a sign and going into the takeaway section the actual restaurant is downstairs. So much to choose from but the friendly girl who served us was so nice and helpful, we feel we made a good choice and she recommended also the dosa, and we ordered a plain one and it was delicious. Other staff really friendly too. Also you can decide how spicy you want your food which was good.

Great meal with the family in a nice relaxing and casual atmosphere. Service was spot on and so nice to get a meal with proper spice to it, Sri Lankan hot will satisfy the spice craving for sure. Food was delicious. Will be back soon!

Portions were very small, the standard takeaway containers were barely half full. The amount of meat in the curry dishes was pitiful. We ordered two medium spiced dishes and a mild one and I couldn't tell the difference between them. The flavour wasn't bad, don't get me wrong but you don't get much of anything for your money. The biryani was flavourful, however, it was a real shame to find that the boiled egg had a grey centre, just goes to show a lack of care and attention. Personally I won't be ordering from here ever again as there are better options in Ramsgate. This place needs to up its game. Flavours by Kumar being the best I've found, an Indian where you don't feel fleeced by the portions/quality or the price. In summary, give this place a miss as it's overpriced and underwhelming. Edit: Regardless of whether the eggs are cooked freshly, it is critical to cool boiled eggs down by using an ice bath to prevent the centre from going grey. I find your response almost humble and genuine until you arbitrarily attacked the content of my review by saying I am a serial negative reviewer. I think you'll find that I write fair reviews and will often give 5 stars to restaurants/takeaways that deserve it. Unfortunately the Spices of Lanka was a major disappointment. Based on the quality of the food that we received, the takeaway deserves no more than 2 stars. I really hope you reflect and improve and stop relying on the fake reviews from others who give this place 5 stars. Ultimately it's your business and you should run it as you see fit, but I suggest you reflect and improve when you receive negative reviews and use it as an opportunity rather than attempt to be humble and dismiss the validity of the reviewer. You forget to mention that you called me up shortly after to explain that you weren't well and were unable to properly control the quality of the meal as it left and that you were sorry. Based on your response I'm starting to believe that was a lie and that what we received was the standard quality for everyone. The restaurant has potential and I wish you the best of luck.

We have been to Spices of Sri Lanka a number of times and it is always such a treat. Every dish is fresh, tasty and delicious. I particularly love the aubergine pirattel and the prawn curry. There’s also great options for vegetarians and vegans. The staff are friendly and attentive, we’ll be back again soon!

This place takes a bit of finding as it is entered through the front door of a takeaway, but it is worth the effort to locate it. We were keen to try the Dosas which do not feature on many menus and were not disappointed. They were excellent. The many offers a wide range of unusual freshly prepared dishes. Highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic place. We were staying in the Travelodge next door and ate here both days. The food is that good. Great portions and amazing value. My favourites were the aubergine pirattel with fluffy parottas. The two ladies who run the restaurant (Kavi and Shagitha)made us feel very welcome. Will definitely return the next time we are in Ramsgate.

We've ordered delivery, twice, and looking forward to eating in. Really impressed with the variety and depth of flavour of all the dishes and it's very helpful to be able to indicate spice levels depending on how hot you're feeling!

We went here a late weekday after a friend said it was recommended. This place is definitely a hidden gem! I was prepared for the worst as most places are not authentic and the taste is changed to cater the locals. But this place was authentic! The chicken was fresh, idiyappam with the coconut sambal was amazing. I even ordered extra to take home for lunch the next day. I wish they were closer to Canterbury- def would have been a go to spot!

Best tamil/ Sri Lankan dish in the Kent

This is a hidden gem in Ramsgate, below a takeaway on the harbour front between Marina’s and The Royal pub. The food is freshly cooked, beautifully spiced and very delicious. The price was very reasonable for 4 of us including alcoholic drinks. Service was brilliant, had time to explain the dishes. Foodies, spice lovers (they will cook to your heat) and all those who love eating out, this restaurant is a must to add to your favourite places to eat. 🍴

This place is a gem! If you’re in Ramsgate you should definitely visit… if you’re not in Ramsgate you should visit Ramsgate so you can eat here! The food is exceptional, the prices are exceptional and the staff are amazing! You will need to keep your eye out because the restaurant is downstairs accessible through a takeaway opposite the harbour but it is worth finding, just look for the sign! Absolutely amazing!

One of the best curries I've ever had, incredibly tasty food, good sized portions, with the option of adjusting the spice levels to your taste. The young lady was very informative and delivered a charming service, would every day of the week recommend.

Our first visit after recommendations from friends. Real, authentic, food with great service. Thali was excellent, especially the fish and dhal dishes. Everything was reasonably priced. Our new favourite Asian restaurant. Many thanks to Shagitha and Kavi.

A real hidden gem! We had a fresh, delicious dinner here with amazing customer service. Would definitely recommend the vadai and the fish pakoda to start. Our server recommended the kothu for our main which was perfect- the chicken and the prawn both had different but equally delicious flavours. A 'hot' spice level was definitely spicy enough from South Indian perspective! Cannot recommend this place enough.

Lovely delivery, very smiley and friendly I think they were early too. Pumpkin curry was incredible, as was the potato curry that came with the poori, poori INCREDIBLE, rich and flakey. Unfortunately the spinach curry was watery, so dull and just seemed to be blended spinach with water.. tasted like nothing, couldn't eat it, it was so nothingy. Wish I could have the 8 quid back for that one BUT hey, the rest made up for it. Would order 100 times again, hope the vegan selection improves and gets bigger with more variety. (One note is that the EGG rice is labelled vegan? This is a bit worrying for the dishes I had, as maybe the owners/chefs don't know what vegan is and my dishes that were also labeled vegan could have had butter (ghee) or cream in... Hopefully not.)

Kind of stumbled across this place while failing to find a veggie pasty. £12 for a generous helping of rice (extra rice is free if required) 3 small curries, a spicy coleslaw, a small fruit salad and 2 roti (extra roti also free) The service was great and the food explained really well. If this place had views over (rather than next to) the Royal Harbour you'd be booking a table weeks in advance. It's an absolute gem of South Indian food. The 8.8% Lion stout was maybe a bit strong for a lunch time beer, but hey, no work today.

Thank you for serving us such a tasty dinner. This was a Friday surprise. Under a horrible sign for fast food hides a slow burning super tasty Sri Lankan restaurant. I went with three other friends following a tip from a mate now plan to go back for more. Between us we sample a good chunk of the menu. The curries (both medium) were spot on the levels of spice and heat. The dosas impressive and tasty while the goran was milder and felt homey. Next time I’ll have starter and ignore the puddings. A takeaway may be in the cards but allow time as they seem to cook from scratch.

I stumbled upon spices of Lanka a couple months ago! Ive not been to the restaurant yet but had two home deliveries! The food is amazing - rich and deep in flavours. Im vegan and typically Indian food has good options but im bored of the usual dishes, which are mostly potatoes! These guys have developed an expansive vegan options to their menu using all the veggies and I’m very appreciative! Biggup to the chef! One love louis

Wonderful little restaurant, hidden away below a takeaway opposite Ramsgate’s Royal Harbour. Great range of dishes on offer including many vegan options. Our waitress, Shagitha was very friendly and gave plenty of advice about the menu. Our food was wonderful and the portions generous. Very good value for money, can’t wait to go back.

Spices of Lanka is a family owned business, downstairs from Gallegos peri peri and adjacent to the Mariners pub. The restaurant is clean and staff friendly. There is an extensive menu of Sri Lankans cuisine which staff are happy to explain and make recommendations to manage your preferences. Alcohol is available, including Sri Lankan Star lager and Stout. Our food was delicious and very reasonable in price. I would highly recommend a visit

What more could one ask for? A seriously delicious feast. 40 years ago my neighbours were from Sri Lanka. Tonight was so true to the taste. Utterly delicious, every mouthful flooded your mouth with amazing flavours. The portions were large. Something as simple as dhal was taken to a new level. Please try their food, you won’t be left disappointed or hungry.

Delicious is a very over rated word, but not in this case. Actually the word delicious does not go far enough to explain the complexity of the flavours that I experienced this evening. There was such a depth of flavour and aromas that I knew even before the first mouthful that I was in for a treat! I really wasn’t disappointed. The humble chicken curry was taken to a different and very special level. Huge portions and non stop flavoursome delights,all at a very reasonable price. Thank you so much to the chefs, you excelled. This was my first time having a take away from here and it certainly won’t be the last. Here’s to many future visits!

A little difficult to find as it downstairs from a takeaway - the door & stairs are to the left. But once you've found it, it's a little gem of a restaurant and excellent if you are vegetarian or vegan (or have friends visiting). A wide menu of Sri Lankan dishes which I'd never encountered before, they have similarities with Southern Indian cuisine, which my friend and I set about trying with the friendly and helpful advice of a very knowledgeable waitress. Really delicious food, I can't wait to eat the Aubergine Pirattela dish again it was so nice. Very reasonable prices as well.

Lovely independent family restaurant serving well cooked delicious food. The service was faultless - we weren't very familiar with Sri Lankan cuisine but the waitress explained everything really well and helped with our choices. I'm not a vegan but the vegetable curries were the best and the vegan menu is extensive. Highly recommended!

Hidden gem of a Sri Lankan restaurant right next to Ramsgate harbour! We had a delicious meal there, everything was so fresh and tasty and the staff were friendly and helpful.

I called a couple of hours ahead to book a table for 16 cricketers on tour. Table was ready when we arrived and the Sri Lankan beer was cooling. Starters were great (Devilled Mutton, mutton rolls) and the mains (Kotthu, Chicken, king fish curry, aubergine, hoppers) were delicious. All served with a smile. Highly recommended. Perfect end to a week of cricket. Thank you.

You really must go here. The food is exceptional, service great and the price is also great. Children can eat here free too on certain days, so a win ,win for parents. There's so a wide variety of food to choose from also how mild or hot you want. Try it out, it's a very good alternative to other Asian foods.

Atmosphere can be improved but over all was pleasant. Need more eye catching sign board to find location easily. I highly recommend **** I will visit again with family.

The best curry in Kent! The menu is incredibly varied, not just in choice of dishes but the startling variety of flavours. Each dish is carefully prepared with ingredients of the highest quality and served by the most friendly staff you could wish for. And such tremendous value.The restaurant is wonderful for vegans with many familiar but also unusual options on offer. I could not recommend the place top highly. Can't wait for my next visit!

Wonderful, delicious South Indian food for lunch today. I would have had it slighter hotter but then I'm from South India so prefer spicier food however the heat is right for most people I imagine. Very tasty too. People are friendly and knowledgeable too. Lovely. Thanks very much. We will be coming back next time we're in Ramsgate.

This is my 1st experience ordering a takeaway from Spices of Lanka, although I ordered through Just eat I wish I had direct to the restaurant, I was under the impression Just eat ware delivering my food I had made a mistake on line! I phone to enquire about my delivery and was told I had to collect from the restaurant; this was not suitable and I was offered delivery at £2.50 which I reluctantly agreed to, I was starving by this point and just wanted my food 🥘, the delivery was taking such a long time I phoned again, I was advised the food was on its way. My food arrived by the person I spoke to on the phone as Just eat were not available. An a heart felt apology was given and the delivery cost was wavered. I was very impressed by the quality and taste, it was so delicious 😋 and highly recommend this establishment, not only was the food exceptional but the customer service was second to none. Give it a try I’m sure you won’t be disappointed 5* worthy

I asked a lovely waiter for his recommendation, and I was not disappointed! Had Sambar Vadai, and it was delicious. Aromatic and tasty. I insisted on Crab Curry, and it was great! Messy but worth it.
