SpiceBox in Waltham Forest

I was phoned to say the delivery driver had had an accident and so I would have to go and get the food myself. When I collected it, no further explanation was given and an apology came in the form of four burnt poppadoms.

My food was never delivered. Though I paid the delivery fee, I was told I had to collect my food and if I wanted a refund, I had to submit the request to Just Eat. (Though at the point when the staff told me it couldn't be delivered apparently they hadn't started cooking my food yet?!). I had to find a way to collect as I could not put out more money and wait another hour to re-order food from another outlet. When I arrived, a member of staff said they threw in extra poppadums for the inconvenience. I got x5 extra popadums which were soo stale I just had to throw them away. The food ordered overall was poor after all this effort. Some dishes were hot, others were lukewarm and the quality was not good. The Nan was on the verge of going stale so had to throw that away as well! The staff were kind but I think they need an overhaul of their operations, logistics and kitchen. This feedback is not meant to bash, but give constructive feedback that I hope leads to improvement of their food and service.

Food was nice but cold as it was late

It was my first time ordering at this restaurant and the service was bad. They didn’t have everything in the bag that I ordered and they had to go back to get it.

The curry was overly oily, the rice and nans tasted stale, the latter of which looked like it was store-bought. Having said that, delivery was on time. Will refrain from ordering again.

ordered online , got a phone call to say the driver had been taken to hospital and I would have to go collect when I arrived it was clear that the restaurant was going to close early so don’t believe the driver had gone to hospital no real apology just a half bothered one , no offer of any sort of compensation for the inconvenience got back home to find the food was shocking, passanda wasn’t a passanda , rice and naan bread was bland. complete disappointment do not use. AVOID

Order processed and no food received. Had to call a mobile number several times only to eventually be told they were no longer serving food. Do not order from these people

Would expect more than one papadam as a portion for 50p.

Not as good as what we have had before very disappointing

Delivered the wrong food, and what was delivered was horrendous. Didn't answer phone, refused to refund and lied that I had ordered/complained from there previously. Disgusting - AVOID

Food arrived on time but cold. Not even warm! Binned it and ordered elsewhere. Couldn't call to complain. No working telephone!!!!

Food lacked substance lots of sauce but little meat. Balti in particular very gravy like.

The worse Indian I've had! The popadom was stale, the bread was tough. The mango chutney was hard and looked like it was sat in the fridge for weeks. The vindaloo lived up to its reputation for being a hot dish. The restaurant was offering free delivery over £12 but my bill had an extra £2 delivery fee. I couldn't wait for just eat to email asking for a review because this establishment needs to know that their food is garbage! Spice Nights, Aka, fright night!

The chutney and pickles was missing! But otherwise not bad

20 minutes late arriving, asked for 2 mint sauce not chutney, got one of each. Prawn puree bread was so tough couldn't cut it properly, chicken vindaloo was fairly tasty but had small pieces of chicken and not enough. I'd avoid.

Food was delivered 15 minutes early, was hot and delish. One of the nicest onion bhajee I've had! Nice to see vegetarian options of almost all their curries, a lot of places don't offer this on the menu. We had a vegetable masala and a vegetable rogan josh. A food container had spilt in the bag during the delivery from the restaurant to mine by accident and the driver (who is one of the chefs as they were very busy, another good sign) was super apologetic and helped clean up the mess despite me saying it wasn't an issue! He was very attentative and apologetic and offered me discount next time I ordered, which I definitely will be as it was one of the better Indians I've had in East Finchley.

Tried loads of Indian takeaways and this is by far once of the best, great quality tasty food and always delivered fairly quickly!

Late and cold was not happy this time round

Slow on accepting the order via justeat, resulting in 10 minutes added to the delivery time. However the food was nice, slightly too oily but otherwise great! Will order again!

It was very nice and its was on time

This is a real shame. This has been our favourite Indian takeaway for years but something's changed. Korma was too salty and Madras was just spicy hot with not much flavour. Naan wasn't nice. Plus they now give a very small box of rice compared to a generous portion of stew. Thankfully food was quick and hot, but it saddens us to now have to look elsewhere :(

Enjoyable food and good service .

This place is usually good, but tonight it was very disappointing. The plain popadums were stale, the spicy popadums were burnt, the chicken korma was curdled and the lamb rogan josh had more green peppers than lamb! Such a shame, I will have to find somewhere else now.

Normally biriyani is amazing but very bland, not the same than ordering on phone.

Forgot my Coke, they brilliantly delivered it very fast. Great food great customer service.

Fantastic food, delivery was a little slow but the quality made up for it.

Ordered to pick up at 8.25. Had to wait until 8.40 and feel the food prep was rushed. The sauce for methi chicken really watery and flavour was weak. Not sure if ownership has changed but the food was not that great. I have been a customer for many years but will now think twice before ordering.

Good portion of food and such a polite driver! No problems what so ever, whenever I order from Spicebox. I will continue to order from here every time I fancy a curry :) Highly recommend

Fast service and great food as always...

The tikka masala is to die for !! so much creamy coconut goodness, I like the lamb madras too, big portion, tender lamb and very spicy, we always order the same thing !

Delicious Indian food. Best in the area.

This was the second time I've ordered from spice box. The food was delivered in the time that was estimated. This time the poppadoms, rice, naan bread and chapati were all good. The chicken saag was good and the chicken jalfreezie was ok but very spicy. However the chicken madras was awful. No flavour just very runny and spicy. Very disappointing.

Not satisfied with the meal. It was warm but the biryani did not meet with my expectations. The meat was very dry - like overcooked or deep fried and then added to the rice. The rice also very dry and did not seem like freshly cooked. Not pleased at all.

Consistently good food and timely delivery

Delivered in a very timely manner- much faster than expected, and food was hot, fresh and delicious!

The food looked like the colours of rainbow that masked what you were actually eating. Too bright and artificial for my liking.

Food arrived promptly however, I've never had to put salt and pepper on a curry before... But that's how bland, watery and flavourless the food was. Disappointing, would not order again.

On time and thats the only good thing. Theyve been so consistent on all my other orders. Korma was really spicy than it should have been. Rice was cold, the bottle of drink came in a fresh tesco supermarket bag and the korma had 3 pieces of chicken in it! Normally you get too much chicken. Shockingly bad for what is usually top notch takeaway! Bad times

We thought ordering from a restaurant 5 minutes away from the house would mean it would arrive on time...sadly not the case. Delivery time was estimated as well over an hour and it took even longer to come.We called to see where our food was and were rudely told it would be 5 minutes...despite the gentleman on the phone not asking where we lived! 5 minutes later, still no food (surprise surprise), however shortly after, we received a phonecall from our driver who was at the wrong address and needed directions; despite us ordering takeaways frequently and never experiencing issues in the past. When the driver eventually made it to us, he was flustered and handed the food over without an apology. Food in general was...okayish. Stone cold by this point but even if it hadn't been, the quality was sadly nothing to rave about. My partner actually refused to eat the majority of his dish as it was so unappetizing. Very oily with generic flavours - nothing like the Indian food we've ordered from other local places. Chicken was dry, peshwari naan which is usually sticky and gooey was filled with something tasteless and crumbly. Even our mango chutney was watery! Massive disappointment. Sadly won't be back.

As always, food was amazing but it took more than 45 minutes longer than the stated! We will be back for sure but hopefully it will be quicker next time

Very tasty. Delivery time was a bit long though. It arrived 15 minutes over the given time. Unfortunately this happens to be the case with many takeaways ordered from justeat.

Spicebox is our regular Indian place now. My wife and I both love the food, and haven't had any problems with their service thus far.

missed items off my order, came late

From the stellar reviews I have read on Just East, I assumed Spicebox would be a top-notch Indian restaurant and take-away. This is not the case. The food isn't terrible- but it's not good, either. Rather, it's a typical and unsatisfying Indian take away suited to mundane British taste buds - rubbery meat, bland flavours and stale poppadoms to boot. Add that to the fact that our order (not a large or complicated order) was one hour and forty minutes late - when I had called to ask, I wasn't given an apology, just assurance it would show ten minutes later. It showed 25 minutes later. To top it off, we were given for our inconvenience a juice carton that costs 70 pence from our local corner shop. Whether monetary compensation or otherwise, more certainly was needed to be given to make up for such late delivery and sub-par cuisine. Without a doubt, we won't be eating from Spicebox again.

Spicebox is the best Indian in our area thanks to their genuine-tasting food. They also definitely deserve a commendation for their portion sizes.

This was my second time I had ordered but it was no way as good as the first time plus driver got lost and they forgot the popadoms so will not be ordering from them again

Trying this take away was a mistake as it took 3 hours to deliver a meal for one which is no longer than a three minute drive away, and to top it all there was no offer of a good will gesture from the owner of the restaurant for the long wait where by now I'm not even hungry... Would never order a take away from there again .

Very nice I always order from spice box

I have ordered from Spicebox before and it was great but this time the saag paneer was so sweet I literally couldn't eat it. It was as sweet as ice cream and absolutely disgusting. I know this is just a one off because I have ordered this exact dish from Spicebox before but it has really put me off ordering from them again which is a shame because its great value and good service.

Had to wait an hour but the food arrived hot and was of excellent quality throughout. The Tarka Daal, Saag Lamb and Tandoori Mixed Grill were all top notch and the Daal Soup in particular was surprisingly good. Portions were all decent and unlike many Indian takeaways were not stingy on the meat. Highly recommended.

Very tasty food and particularly worthy of comment in that, unlike many Indian takeaways, it was not too oily. I appreciated the fact that within moments of my placing the order, the restaurant called to tell me that one dish was unavailable and to discuss alternatives. I was given a more expensive dish at no extra cost. Speedy, courteous service; very good food!

We had to wait 105 minutes for our order to be delivered after having chased them. Even then there was barely an apology. The food was really nothing special. Will not use them ever again.

Terrible. The order arrived an hour and a half after I placed it! and only after I called them twice and spoke to the manager. On the second call he refused to cancel the order even though I really didn't want it anymore. When it did arrive the order was wrong. Never again.

still ordering at least once a fortnight from spicebox. Service is still as good as ever and food never disappoints. My son commented that it is one of the best lamb bhuna´s he has had. what more can i say except it is my off diet indulgence !!

Ordered another take away but wasn´t sure how delivery times would be due to bad snow and icy roads, however once again the spicebox surpassed themselves. My order was on time, hot and delivered with a smile - oh and as always portions were large (which is good cos i can finish it off tonight !!!) Thank you all staff at spicebox

it is the first time I have had a meal from Spicebox long lane finchley, the food was piping hot, delivered on time and absolutely delicious. I will most definitely be ordering from there again and recommending to friends and family. First time i have ordered on line as well and that was a doddle. Great all round experience.
